Hey trigger. I own that same gun. Really happy with it. Hard to beat the quality for the price. Try to lower you pressure a bit. It seems to really like lower pressure. Then will have a really good transfer efficiency. Keep up the great vids

Hey TM.....I sanded my last job with 220 to feather out the old peeling clear......then did a finish with 320 hand sand.....NO SANDING SCRATCHES.....used extra binder in 1st 2 coats of base. Then went into my color over that. This was on a restoration job so I really needed to use heavier paper. Did not prime the whole car either.
Okay with all of that being said how did it turn out? Hopefully Goood
@@thetriggerman954 yea no sanding scratches. looks nice.....SILVER Too...If you ever do a restoration job that is a good trick. Binder is cheap compared to man hours.

@@thetriggerman954 Yea I do that using intercoat clear. makes the sand scratches go away (finer ones for your blend) speed Kote has a clear blender. But with binder you can fill like 220!!! (not for blend panels NOOOO) and its cheap.I just ad it to the base color. I did this truck with only a quart of real color. Based it with Binder and a cheap autobahn or high tech base with 50% or more binder. No sanding scratch.....Only for the cheap resto jobs. Not for your good stuff.

I recently got one of these pŕd-715 mine is blue though. I got it for jobs when i need to put down clear faster than i can with my DV1-C gun. It definitely hammers out clear
The 715 is faster than the 717 I have from what I've been told. Good stuff hopefully I can get one to try 🤪

Hey Trigga!! lovely job on the Tesla, the 717 laid the clear like glass Sir👌as you said these are well made guns the build quality is as good as any gun costing three times the price the only thing we don't know about these is longevity how the seals last but I'm sure they will last years🤔

Second job has zero peel. Keep an eye out for the video. I dropped the pressure down a little and I think that was the sweet spot

Apparently, they work better at a lower pressure. 20 to 25 psi
The next job I shot at 27-28 and it was perfect. The 30 was too high. The company told me that they need to be sprayed at higher than the other models. Just like any new gun it needs to be tweaked and dialed in. 💪🏼🥳

Recently got a Iwata WS400 and the air horn will not line up to the tulip holes.
From your video, looks like the Porphis lines up perfectly...
Not sure if it even matters on the Iwata since it sprays great with no problems regardless.

I swear by my Iwata Supernova Pininfarina, but I want to get this gun and try it out too! I got my first ever Sata, with the 4000B digital last year. Had been shooting with nothing BUT Iwata since my airbrush artist days 35 years ago. But this thing looks good! I wonder what the air pressure is recommended. My Supernova runs 23 at the gun and only 10 at the tip. Very little overspray is the result.
@@colorbosscustomautobody8140 yeah actually on my second job I lowered the pressure a few psi and it performed much better So I think it runs better on lower pressure although the rep from the company told me that this gun sprays and higher pressure than all the rest of their models

It's a new company, I believe they are in China. They do not have distribution here in the states from what I'm told. You have to go to their website to purchase them. There is a link in the video description of you want to check them out. Sprays awesome.

Porphis appears to have a really good kick-off, though its hard to get a hold of them unless they reach out to you. I approached them to see what they offer and was sent to a distrubutor that relabels them. The price wasnt bad, but a bit higher than I thought it would be and all models aren't available. Shipping is the killer IIRC. They are mainly geared to supply businesses instead of single sales to consumers. Nonetheless, the guns appear to be built very well.... like pro level well.
I heard the same thing, I was contacted by a few people that are looking to be distributors for the company in the US. They wanted to know my thoughts on the gun. But I see they are being sold on the link I put in the video description.
@thetriggerman954 oh damn! That's a different link than what Nadia sent me to. The guns were the same but with a different name and limited selection. The link you have is better. Prices are still up there, but no worse in comparison to the Black Widows. In fact, for the quality of build, it's better than the BW. Now I gotta go in the bathroom and punch myself in the gut a few times to resist buying more guns. 👀

There is no comparison in my opinion. I have both and I hardly ever use the w-400 they are not the same

what iv'e learned over the years the cheaper guns have caught up with the high dollar guns it's a magical thing.
@@travlite8496 the high dollar guns Have stood the test of time lot of those guns have been around for many decades and still hold up and spray like day one. Who knows how long all of these cheaper guns will last. They do perform pretty much the same It's just a longevity is what no one knows.

TriggerMan, I just got my gun 2 weeks ago.. I tried it out & was not impress by it? Your gun looks like it sprays better than the one I got? My fan pattern is like 4inches Not like your Fan showing here on YT .. I adjusted the pressure Up - down , droplets were coming out big not fine... If your fan pattern is only 4 inches then something is definitely wrong. I'd contact them. Might be a defective gun. That sucks. The gun sprays really good when working properly
What’s the reason why the base coat has sandpaper texture feels after spraying the base coat? Is it because the base dry too fast?
To dry, could be under reduced, wrong temp reducer, pressure to high, bad technique. And the list goes on.

From what I've heard that gun likes it best around 20psi... I'm sure it depends on the material
Yes definitely depends on the material, the company told me this gun needs to spray at a higher pressure than all of their other models, so I'm still playing with it. I did lower at 2 psi on the next job and it came out great.

I've been painting for 2 years as of yesterday, but I've been using my brother's Satas (5500 for base, 5000 for clear I believe), and I wanna get my own guns, but I definitely can't afford those rn. Between the new Black Widow and this gun, is one better than the other for base and/or clear that you can tell? I wanna get one gun for base, one gun for clear, and both this gun and the new Black Widow are affordable for me, I just wanna make an informed decision on which to get for each application
My honest opinion bro, go with the Black Widow #1 It's cheaper, #2 those black widow guns have been around for quite some time and no one ever has anything negative to say about them. These guns are new You don't know how long the seals will hold up. Even though this gun is the newest thing right now You sound like you don't have money to waste so I couldn't have a clear conscience and tell you to go out and purchase this gun over the black widow. That black widow gun sprays everything Just fine from metallics, pearls, solid base, high solids clear coat, medium solids clear coat. Hope that helps man 💪🏼

Would be cool if you could see if you can swap needle, cap, etc of the 717 to a 716 or 715. I just bought a 716 but wanted the 717. However, going by the specs the 717 was right at the end range of my compressor. So I was thinking I could buy a 717 needle/tip kit and sort of have the option of either. I'm probably overthinking it and the 716 will be fine for my purposes. 😂

I've only used the gun that is made for that stuff. Usually you can buy a kit, comes with the rhino liner and the gun.

@@crossfire-irons That's a tough call my man, Sagola as we know a great guns and will last you a lifetime, this gun sprays great has less overspray so it'll just be down to if you want to gamble with the longevity of this gun. I mean I'm sure it'll be fine but those are the two determining factors that I look at.

23psi will work but a little higher seems to get better results with my materials. Still trying to dial the gun in. I ordered some fittings from Amazon lemme see if I can find it real quick

Hey Trigg, that spray gun is very capable. It looks like them Porphis people slapped in some existent ideas, fusioned them properly and made a good all rounder but the price, man. i dont wanna sound like a cheapo del mano but, it could have been lower

Yeah the price that's been a tad bit steep I was kind of thinking that myself but hey maybe high price makes people think it's better lol I don't know. I basically just run thinner through my gun take off the cap free inside the cap with naked gun cleaner from the aerosol can. Whenever I have a slow day maybe one every 3 weeks I'll take my gun apart the nozzle needle and give a good cleaning
