    Brilliant review - especially with the drawer measurements.
    I purchased one of these in Australia a few weeks back when I was there on holiday and put it into storage at a family members spot in anticipation of emigrating there in a few years time. Got back to the UK and realised I wanted to start getting some drawer inserts made up for all my tools and could not find one of these in a store anywhere to measure up the drawers. Now that I have all the drawer dimensions I can confidently order some Shadow Foam and get working on making my drawer inserts up! Thanks!!

    Great review. I saw on another review someone paid GBP 599. Current price as of 2/1/2021 is GBP 720. Also, I believe brand name is Hyxion from China. Rebranded as SGS or US Pro.

    Hi John, big thanks, the video helped me decide to go out and get one. Just received mine today, not SGS; I got mine from Homebase UK and its labelled Ultimate, but its identical to the one in the video. Some small changes; mine came with the casters already fitted and also a back plate that can be fitted to the chest and fixed to the wall. Came extremely well wrapped, but no polystyrene, all cardboard. Extremely happy with it.

    I bought one of these chests and I’m really annoyed with SGS Engineering. Drawers misaligned and bad welding. I showed them pictures where the bad welding was, the welding actually failed to join 2 metal parts together. Contacted SGS Engineering regarding the issues and they failed to recognise the issues. I never managed to get in touch with the person who should deal with this. A few emails sent and no response whatsoever on how to deal with this.
    I’m not buying anything from this company ever again, even if they are the cheapest place to buy it from. I’m absolutely annoyed.

      Still love it. The rattle from the lock mechanism drove me mad so I fixed that with a cable tie. (I did a video on that) Nothing has broken or fallen off.
      Couple of Burns on the wooden top but thats obviously down to me.
      Still think its the best value out there and am considering getting either a tall cupboard or a small cabinet to go with it.

It will be bolted down but are the draws strong ! Is the paint quietly good and does it scratch easy! Is it work paying less and do you think it will keep over time

    Hi John, amazed at how similar we are. I have one of those tool chests from SGS as well. Very happy with it. I also have Navara NP300 Tekna Auto. Regarding the Navara, when selecting 4H driving at low speeds the vehicle shudders whilst turning. Do you have the same issue?

    • @ToTheGarage
      @ToTheGarage  5 лет назад

      Hi Twin😁
      Yes Marc if you run either of the 4WD modes on tarmac you can feel the transmission fighting with itself particularly if cornering.
      Its a design limitation with the Navara rathetr than any fault.
      There is no Diff separating the front and rear axles so they are not really intended to be run for any significant amount of time on grippy tarmac in 4WD mode as it strains the transmission, drive shafts.
      On the positive side if we are off road.:- The owners of some 'so called' 4wd suv's will get stuck because they did not pay extra for a locking centre Diff.
      We, on the other hand, couldn't unlock it if we wanted to! and therefore can climb walls👍

    It would be interesting to know what its been like over the past few years. I did look at these but the stiffness of the drawers put me off and I went with a snap on.

    • @ToTheGarage
      @ToTheGarage  3 года назад +1

      Hi Matt. I will be doing a bit of a review on the toolbox shortly as I have some reorganising to do. But the executive summary is that the whole box has stood up well and though the Worktop has obviously seen some action and therefore wear, I could polish the whole thing up and it would be functionally better than new (I resolved the lock mechanism rattle🤣) and cosmetically pretty close too. The Drawers function a lot better with some weight in them but not as slick as a snap on.
      My only criticism is the detent that holds the drawers in the closed (but unlocked) position is a bit weak, and yet needs a firm push to fully close. Im nit picking though. Value for money is still off the charts in my opinion. Hope you are enjoying your Snap-On kit👍

    Hi, thanks for the build video, I have recently bought a 55" and all seems really good.. I have seen other people who are not happy with the locking mechanism rattling.. Does it bother you at all? I wedged one small piece of foam in mine and its quietened it down a lot..

    • @ToTheGarage
      @ToTheGarage  5 лет назад

      litteldave hi
      Yes mine has the same rattle when you give the whole unit a nudge. Can be as bit annoying if working in the top. I’ve never investigated though. I take it you removed your drawers to get at it?
      How do you get them out dave?

    • @LittleDaveGuitar
      @LittleDaveGuitar 5 лет назад

      @@ToTheGarage Yeah, easy to remove, pull the drawer out, on the runners you'll see a plastic tab either side.. One presses up and one down, easier to do one at a time as they're quite stiff.. Hold the lever and tap the drawer out and it"ll come out.. 👍

    • @ruinunes8251
      @ruinunes8251 4 года назад

      I can confirm this rattle is annoying. Here it is the way I fixed it on mine.
      Remove at least the 3 top drawers in the middle section so you have some space to see the locking mechanism linkage at the top, right under the wooden worktop. You will see a few bolts on this linkage and you also will see how stupidly loose the linkage system is. Use a spanner or any other tool you feel comfortable with and tighten the nuts just enough to stop making the rattle. As you are doing this, you can apply a bit of grease around the bolts/linkage so everything runs even more smooth and no more rattles. Put the drawers back on and call it a job done. No more annoying rattles.
      However, I have other issues with this bench that I wish it could be of an easy fix like this rattle.
