Just Cause 2 was hilarious to me at times because of the names they used for settlements and people. Coming from Malaysia, I knew all of the words used. For example, there's a place called Kampung Anjing Gila. Literally it meant Crazy Dog Village.
According to the game's wiki, Panau is located somewhere between Thailand and Malaysia.

I remember just being impressed by the cars falling down mountains in this game when it first came out, the physics in these games are still satisfying.

One of my favorite things to do in JC2 was to have the small, fast plane delivered and then try and land it on ridiculously small islands. Totally doable in most cases!

Avalanche took all the best mechanics from other games and combined them into one epic adventure. Sure, the cars handled like shopping carts going backwards as if it was a bad PC port but I never fell through the map a single time! Anyone remember when games used to work?

Recently bought it on steam sale. It's an epic game and have a great nostalgia connection.
I've been playing jc3 for the first time and noticed something that js2 exceled at, exploration. The faction missions in js2 made the player explore the islands. Reapers went to the mountains, Roaches go to the city, and the Ular Boys go south towards the jungles. The message it sent the player was, "Go anywhere you like, do anything you want. Here's some tools to back you up. When you want more tools, you do missions."
Jc3 feels more like a war and less like a play ground. You start in Baia and move south with the story then hit the big central base. By the time of the last mission of act 1, I completed the whole starting island because I felt i was fighting a war with battle lines. Maybe I'm too invested into the story? Still, the map design sort of pushes me that way. PC controls suck ass.

This game manages to have a more consistent frame rate than Just Cause 3 despite running on a console with less than an entire Gigabyte of RAM to work with, with a game world that’s probably big enough to hold every Halo campaign.
A well optimized game that GTA V will never hold a candle to.
In a crowded space of 1st person sandbox shooters like Crysis/Far Cry and Fallout, JC2 came to dominate the 3rd person grapple hook/hijack genre with more B-roll clips that any other game at a time when RUclips was still in its infancy and no one had ever heard of Fortnite/TikTok. The massive open map made traversal seem limitless whether driving or flying and the helicopter rotor downwash effect on trees and water was never seen in Just Cause again

It's a great game, I will always and forever remember my time playing it and then again when I got the pc version and played multiplayer but ultimately it got better with 3 and yes I'd say 4 because of the hover board stuff and because of that and a growing lack of time I think it'll be some years before I return to it
3 and 4 were worse in a fiar few ways the car damage and physics were god awful after the second game

4 Just feels worse to play in every way compared to 3. It is like the budget, knock-off version of itself. I've no idea how they managed that, though looking at how quickly it was made, it's not hard to guess.

I remember getting this for Xbox gold and playing it a lot all the time. It’s so fun just exploding stuff. My favorite thing was somehow catching a ride on a giant plane. Glad I doing it around the time.

Love this game. It's so much fun just going around blowing stuff up or hijack a car and drive from one end of the map to the other. Sure the story is garbage but as you said this is not a story based game. It's an amazing sandbox for you to explore and enjoy yourself.
According to my gta head canon, Rico is an agent for the Agency. The black ops interventionist agency from Chelonia. That fronts as an NGO humanitarian charity. Hired by the other government because using their own army soldiers to actually attack Panau, would make them look like oppressors and make a decentralized pact to not intervene Pansy’s matters with their own soldiers. Assuring autonomies of their republics. And preventing a series of secessionist events. Even their own army soldiers that are operating in Panau. Some parts are confederacy soil. And so the Agency is Chelonias agency to handle black ops style chaos and regime overthrow.

Also I remember playing the demo with a friend who I met online. We both did the glitch to endlessly play the demo, until eventually we got the full game. His dad got him his copy before me and I was super jealous lol Labrador57 if you see this, it’s me! DJ!
Playing this with the Superman and Flash mod makes it so much more fun.

My favourite game of the last decade

2 is easily the best game in the Just Cause series. 1 is terrible, 3 is pretty good and 4 was rather disappointing. I wish this was on PS4 too. Also 2 had the best easter eggs by far from the Lost Island and the bubble gun to the robot shark fin, hot air balloon and what I think is supposed to be a reference to GoldenEye, the jungle satellite dish.
Feels like a 90s action movie, I remember playing this game back then but idk what happened to it lol its funny felt like a dream buy now that I'm playing its hella enjoyable

I heard the guy from the Internet historians in the field started to speed runners and now all he does is speed run it. He will speed run it until he dies and nobody will still care that it takes 19 hours to beat a game. I will never understand speed running it’s like playing a game, just hate yourself. No benefit at all.

The just cause games are pretty janky, but they’re really fun and chaotic which makes up for the jank.
If anything the jank added to it in 2. The magic wasn’t the same in 3 & 4.
@@Fizhy yeah, that’s probably because 3 and 4 were going for a more realistic look, so when something glitched or didn’t work properly it felt out of place. While 2 had more of a cartoony style (even if it was due to graphic limitations) so when something glitches or acted weirdly it felt like part of the game, I am probably wrong but it’s fun to think about.
Wish it had FPS boost on Xbox because it was awesome but you know 30 fps hurts my eyes

I haven’t played any of the prequels to 4 but it’s exhilarating. The graphics on console were so shitty I kinda stopped playing for a little while but I downloaded it on my laptop this year and they got way better. I know people have gripes about 4 but it’s an insanely entertaining damage sandbox in a gigantic open world map. Way better vehicles and weapons than GTA V, which is saying a lot, because I love the vehicles and weapons on GTA

JC2 was a better overall game, but when it comes to just causing mayham for shits and giggles, JC3 was the best in the series.
I had a lot of fun playing JC2. I had a lot of fun stapling people to the cieling and mowing them down with a monster truck, and attaching rocket boosters to the faces of civilians in JC3. XD

How did we go from a beautiful, well put Just cause game to the shit show of JC4? JC3 was a bit of a disappointment to me but not enough to make me not wanna play it.. however JC4 just looked & felt rushed. crappy graphics, mechanics, EVERYTHING IMO. Jc3 was where it all went down hill… I miss JC2. I would definitely buy a PROPER remastered copy of JC2
