@@trodt9640 Yes, that would be a good thing to react to in order to wash this movie's taste out of your mouth (the deleted scenes from Eps. I-VI would be good, too).
I would look into which episode order to watch Clone Wars in. Watching it in the order it aired was confusing to me. I later watched a RUclips video explaining the different campaigns and it made much more sense. Apparently in the first season the shows were aired as they were finished, making it seem like they were leaping from one battle to another.
Honestly, I'm disappointed because they could have went with 2 different satisfying routes here. They could have said Rey was also created by midichlorians, just like Anakin was. Then sure, take up the Skywalker name. But she's a goddamn Palpatine! They just did that for the shock/reveal just like "I am your father". Meh. Actually, she's not even his granddaughter, but his BIOLOGICAL DAUGHTER. Her father was a failed clone of Palpatine himself. (Revealed in comics.) The other route they could have went with was .. letting Ben live.
@@Morten_Storvik I've read all the books and comics, watched the movie and I don't have the feeling she was adopted into the family tbh. Why even? Because she was a force-user? Doesn't make much sense, there are, thanks to Rian Johnson, quite a lot of force users out there. Rey was only ever special, because she had the force dyad thing going on. Luke knew her for about 3 days, Leia maybe a bit more. But her being ADOPTED into the Skywalker family? If I am incorrect, correct me, but I don't remember it being said this way. For me, it would've been so much better, if Ben had said it in the end. Because it would be true. OR, for that matter, if Rey had just said: Rey, I'm just Rey. That way she doesn't hld on to the hated name of palpatine, but doesn't basically break the skywalker saga with, what seems like a quite fast and unrational thought about being a Skywalker... that's MY opinion on it. but it's done now, and we can't change it. So we either like it, or we don't :D And if you like it, good on you, couldn't be better.
In the films defense, palpa did say she had to kill him with hate in her heart. But feeling the presence of Luke and countless other Jedi probably helped her defeat her hatred so that she can defeat him safely.
@@Carwyn.Morris Which is a very shallow way to look at it. Like Luke said, some things are stronger than blood. Rey`s relationship with the Skywalker family was way stronger than her blood relation to Palpatine. In the end she was adopted by the Skywalker family. So she is a Skywalker by the end.
Okay my opinion. Rey should have died at the end and Ben should have been on Tatooine. The movie is called Rise of Skywalker and he is literally the last living Skywalker!! It would be satisfying ending for him. Han, Luke and Leia all died to bring Ben to the light side. + Not saying about how he turned to light side and then died exactly like Vader And please react to Pirates of the carribean❤️
@@kerrymohd7839 yes, he saved the girl he loved, which is beautiful and symbolic. It just seemed too cliche for me little bit. But if Rey died, it would be thing, nobody would see coming. But I agree, that it is kind of rise for him to save her and get to the light side and I think it would be great if makers really meant the rise for him, but they just meant Rey becoming "Skywalker". In this case, it's kinda weird that movie named "Rise of the Skywalker" is the one, where the last Skywalker dies.
The sort of odd thing is that the Rise of Skywalker was meant to signify the end of the Skywalker bloodline. So, technically; there are no more Skywalkers but it's name lives on because Rey adopted the name. Hence the "Rise" of Skywalker.
I actually would've liked if Ben was the one to survive and Rey the one to die, so she would be 'the last jedi' and Ben would become something like a grey Jedi and be 'the rise of SKYWALKER' for real. He goes to Tatooine, buries his aunt and mother's lightsaber and says "I'm Ben Skywalker"
For real, that's exactly what I was hoping for. Maybe have Master Luke Skywalker (according to them) redeem him from the dark side and possibly fought along side with Luke to defeat Shiv Palpatine, which is actually dead in the first place.
He is a war criminal though and he would probably a) be sentenced to death or b) spend the rest of his life in prison. His life has ended before he even died and he knew it, so he saved her instead
Since EA has the rights to Star Wars for games right now, they didn't 'mind' if Disney used a Mass Effect Character for inspiration. See? Not an original idea in JJ's head.
Be interested to see your take. Daisy Ridley herself recently confirmed that there was never much of a plan. She had been Rey Skywalker, Rey Kenobi, Rey Nobody, etc. and they pulled Rey Palpatine out of their ass at the last minute. Switching directors every time made it disjointed too. (The Rose-Finn relationship was nixed because it went over like a lead balloon in China)
I always said in episode 8 or 9 they should’ve found a way to make Rey give in to her temptations and turn to the dark side and Kylo Ren should’ve had that change of heart and become good. Would’ve been a great twist.
@@bluepearl_22 Yeah but George is the creator of the Star Wars universe, so he know it well, and can decide to do whatever he wants. But the people who made the sequels don't know anything about Star Wars, even if JJ Abrams told he was an absolute fan, he don't know a single thing about this universe, except to rip-off the original trilogy.
Even the actress Daisy Ridley said that when filming the Rise of skywalker, they didnt know what to do with her character. They had no plans at all. 😂😂 I will highly recommend you to react to The Mandalorian next as season 2 will drop in November. Its really good.
@Daniel Cielak (Student) but those were made by one person, with others helping him to bring his vision to life. That's the problem with Disney movies, they didn't have one consistent vision.
@Daniel Cielak (Student) Dude, the difference is the OT had ONE GUY behind it all. The Disney trilogy had plenty of people that kept disagreeing with each others.
@@danieljohnston3065 No one cares if ESB and ROTJ had different directors. The one person in charge of the story was George Lucas and he told them what to put in the damn movies. And the Prequels were directed by Lucas only. Point of the matter is : 1 to 6 was HIS story and that's why the story from 1 to 6 makes sense.
I've been too afraid people will actually like them to watch any of their reactions. I mean, they didn't have up to 35 years to live with the IP's established lore and mythology built up by Lucas - prior to it being sold to Di$ney - to understand our contempt for these new movies. At least Mary here tipped her hand in the video's title and thumbnail. Glad she saw the light... even if not until the final movie.
You can tell they had a solid understanding of how they wanted Rey and Kylo's relationship to be, but they had NO clue on how to world build around them.
Yeah if you cut out everything else, you have a pretty great 30 minute movie. Well, Palpatine stuff is still a little silly, but Star Wars can work with that.
@Michael Giammarino Considering all the crap that he did in the attempt to save padme's life i think he might have been ok with dying himself to save her.
Some things only explained in the novelization (I don’t like it either, at least not to this extent). (Sheev) Palpatine didn’t survive, he did die. In this movie he’s a clone that his spirit is possessing. His body is messed up because his evil and immense power caused it to deteriorate, which is why he’s hooked up to the life support Glados arm. There was actually a line of dialogue between him and Kylo that was cut from the movie. “You’re a clone.” “More than a clone. Less than a man.” Instead all we got was Charlie speculating. Rey’s father is Palpatine’s son in the same way Boba was Jango’s son. He was a clone. Sheev’s sith cultists tried to make him another body to replace the messed up one, and they only managed to make a single perfect one. Unfortunately it wasn’t force sensitive, so Sheev saw him as useless and just allowed him leave. Edit: actually it seems nothing is said about letting him go, and the only reason he kept him alive was the potential for the bloodline to continue. The “son” escaped, though after having Rey, so Sheev had to have let him leave exegol before in order for him to meet Rey’s mom. Unless there’s regular people on exegol we don’t know about. _shrug_
In other words: they basically adapted the Dark Empire comic but worse (which is saying a lot because Dark Empire was not a good story). Also, Boba was Jango's son because Jango raised him as one. So no, it's not comparable at all.
@@vetarlittorf1807 Yeah but comparable in the way they're both clones of the original, of course Jango actually had intentions of being a father figure so yeah the similarity stops at them both being clones.
@@TheKiza02 Well, yeah. Of course they're both clones of the original but Rey's father was nothing like Jango because he's not really Palpatine's son since he wasn't raised as one. Whereas Jango basically adopted Boba as his son.
That’s when I realized Disney really didn’t care. The only thing that could have made it worse would have been if Rey, Finn, and Poe did the floss during the victory celebration.
Alex'Y the message isn't that important anyway. It's literally what we already knew in the movie. It's basically him saying "lol I lived, fuck you all, I'm gonna kill y'all soon" We then got the in-depth version of the message by Poe, when he talked to the whole resistance about it, basically "Somehow, Palpatine lived, he's been planning his revenge for decades, and will destroy the galaxy," which is pretty much close to the message he sent to the galaxy
@@lookingforwookiecopilot The Prequels were about Anakin Skywalker and his downfall. This Sequel trilogy should be replaced by an Obi-Wan Kenobi trilogy.
Yes. A trilogy about Obi Wan living like a hermit. That would totally not be dull. I'd rather take the mini-series that they are actually making. For movies I'd prefer something more interesting, like new stories taking place after Episode IX, or during the sequel trilogy. We know almost nothing about the war between the First Order and the New Republic. The destruction of the Hosnian system is not enough to totally defeat such a large inter-stellar faction, and someone did destroy all those Star Destroyers at the end.
@@AlexYBITW Annie was so annoying and unrelatable that Obi became the focus of those awful movies and the only way they are even remotely tolerable. I don't get your generation's obsession with old Ben and what he did on Tatooine for twenty years? Seriously, you want to know how he spent those years, go spend a day at an old folks home,...and multiply it several thousand times!
Even when we keep Marvel comparisons out of the equation, this movie is a mess. "Palpatine lives" in the TITLE CRAWL, a huge bomb to drop on your audience through a piece of text to read, not through elements bringing the pieces together to reach that conclusion. And that's just a nitpick. Further critiques include trash dialogue, poor writing, shitty direction, and a DESPERATE attempt at crowd pleasing. Very unfortunate.
The problem with this sequel is you can clearly tell that it was directed by another person. JJ Abrams retconned everything Rian Johnson did in Episode 8 for the sake of fan service. It doesn't have a concrete storyline like the originals and the prequels. I still enjoyed it but it could have been much better.
To be fair, TLJ was a retcon as well. The whole trilogy felt like JJ built something(nothing original but there was a sense of direction), Rian came and destroyed all to build an entirely new direction, JJ got pissed at Rian and destroyed everything Rian built to give an entirely new direction. It feels like the entire trilogy was inspired by a petty rivalry from two directors who wanted to send the trilogy to entirely opposite directions.
"Finn didn't end up confessing his feelings to Rey." Oh, it's so cute that you'd assume something so logical and emotionally poignant was the original intent. But this is Disney's Star Wars: where logic goes to die. Finn's confession to Rey was that he was Force sensitive, JJ Abrams said it in interviews. Heck if I know why he wanted to confess that with his dying breath as he sunk in quicksand.
I feel like Disney is probably the only one that could get away with that. Lol. I bet if this was from any other studio - this movie would’ve been destroyed.
Fan for 40 years. Estimated number of times I have watched Star Wars movies: A New Hope 40 Empire Strikes Back 35 Return of the Jedi 35 The Phantom Menace 10 Attack of the Clones 4 Revenge of the Sith 10 The Force Awakens 7 The Last Jedi 1 The Rise of Skywalker 1
@Xd Dx "since Gen X and Millenials complained about that" - nobody gives a fuck about what we want. That's just the way it is, no sense for me to whine about it. Still sucks, though.
What makes more sense to say in a situation you believe will kill you and your "friends", "Rey, we're about to die! I love you!" Or "Rey, we're about to die! Sometimes I get an insightful feeling that leads me to believe I might be force sensitive!"
My assumption after TFA was that Rey and Finn were gonna develop a relationship cuz that movie was based mostly on them bonding. Then TLJ came along and threw all that out cuz her trying to save Emo Vader was more 'compelling' according to focus groups, probably.

Well For 4 years I've been positive about the sequel trilogy but everything changed when The Rise of Skywalker attacked.
@@mattrismatt whole rise of Skywalker, which retconed so many things in such an obvious way, and how it didn't feel right. Then I opened my eyes and I found even more things that didn't make sense in JJs movies like why did R2 even wake up in TFA or Luke didnt leave the map but SOMEHOW (JJs favourite word) R2 woke up and Lor San tekka found the exact missing fragment of map in R2. There was many more things in TROS, I could go forever but even music didn't feel right, sometimes doesn't feel like it's John Williams who picked music for certain scenes. Movie is even worse from technical point, so idk, just doesn't feel right to me and defintely isn't a perfect ending to Skywalker saga
Same, man. I had hopes for the trilogy right up until this film. It should have at least tried to carry forward from where the last film left the characters and story, but it couldn't even do that much.
"I'll tell you later" "You mean when Poe's not here?" There are so many pairings that could have come out of this trilogy Finn and Rey Ben and Rey Finn and Poe Finn and Rose Poe and Zori Forget love triangle, this is a love HEXAGON.
My take on Luke "making an attempt on Ben's life" in episode 8. The difference between what happened with Vader and what happened with Ben is that with Vader, Luke could sense the conflict in his father. Probably because Luke was a big reason for his father's conflict. Before Luke pulled his lightsaber on Ben, he tried to sense any conflict inside of his nephew and all Luke saw was death and destruction. He sensed no conflict in Ben and when confronted by that evil, he reacted on instinct and ignited his lightsaber. And then immediately regretted doing it. I have had emotional responses to situations or people and then immediately regretted that response and felt shame for doing it. That happened to Luke, but what Ben saw was Luke trying to kill him even though Luke at that point had gathered himself. Yes Luke is a legend and yes Luke is a hero, but he is still a flawed person.
You are 100% correct on the character development for this last trilogy, Disney totally dropped the ball for the future of the franchise. The only hope I have is the house of mouse will correct the errors that have been bestowed upon us.
I can’t believe that they made a ‘final trilogy’ that went all out on basically copying Original trilogy ideas (BB8 is basically R2 with a new appearance and the new vehicles are just x wings and TIEs again) or ruining the characters from before and not including anything from the equally important prequel trilogy. Obi Wan and Anakin should’ve got so many scenes here, the actors were up for it too.
They thought these movies would write themselves and that fans would love whatever they put out simply because it was Star Wars. All they cared about was the merchandising.
mattris matt Basically all the promotion for the film did, or at least they said it would be the last in the Skywalker Saga, because a trilogy out of the main continuity is being made.
Sterling Daniels Yup that’s exactly why they click baited John Boyega with the lightsaber, why they created Porgs, Sith troopers, BB9E, BB8, D0 and other things that served no purpose other than merchandising.
@@RyansEggyRice These people are proven liars, so why would you believe their 'promotion'? The Saga's narrative - and very purpose for it to exist - dictates when it ends. And that time in the story has, most certainly, _not occurred yet._ How do you know that "a trilogy out of the main continuity is being made"?
Rey healed Kylo because she felt Leia die as well, and she felt guilt over killing Leia's son in that moment and realized that Leia had reached Kylo to make him drop his saber.
"Then why is the movie called the rise of skywalker?" well you see, it isn't about the rise of an actual skywalker, like ben solo or leia or luke, but it's actually about a god-child that is good at everything and apparently the grand-daughter of the most evil person in the galaxy she just decides to make her last name skywalker at the very end so she's actually a skywalker, surprise!
Evan. There are so many decisions they made in episode 8 and 9 that feel like they are answers to this question. --> What would be a somewhat plausible, but very unsatisfying decision we could make at this point in the story? It's almost like they were trying to sabotage the trilogy without being obvious that they were sabotaging it. That's the level of decision making in these movies. The more you think about these movies, the more glaring problems you find.
Did you know when Palpatine said “I’m all the sith” and Rey said “and I’m all the Jedi” is a copy of Avengers Endgame, when Thanos said “I’m inevitable” and Tony said “and I’m Iron Man”
George Lucas wrote treatments for the sequel trilogy just before he sold Lucasfilm to Disney, and he was expecting his successor Katheryn Kennedy and the then CEO of Disney to go through with his treatment of stories. However Disney thought otherwise as they did’nt want to see the backlash of the prequels repeated. They hired JJ Abrams as a safe bet director for a so called soft reboot the franchise’, matching the original trilogy, and the most part ignoring the prequels lore. It did’nt help that they had no well thought plan for the trilogy, going from JJ Abrams, to Ryan Johnson and then firing Colin Treverrow for episode 9, only to rehire JJ Abrams for the final installment. As a long life Star Wars fan it’s heart breaking what they did to the sequels, they never followed through with George’s vision.
Thank you for acknowledging the issues of the sequels. Yes, it's easy to enjoy when ignoring them or shutting my brain off (I still go back and watch Ep 7, its a fun movie). But as they are trying to build loyalty to the universe, getting people invested in it to keep coming back and spending money (like with the MCU), I feel they should work harder at keeping it consistent. That inconsistency and disconnect to the other 6 films really irked me. Again, that's just me.
LOL. At least you did not grow up with them. I loved the original trilogy saw all three of them in the theaters. Could not wait for the prequels which I knew were coming in the 80s. I just did not know when. Darth Vader is one of my favorite characters ever and for me they did not disappoint. Revenge is my second favorite star wars film. When Lucas sold it in 2012 something told me he made a grave mistake. I hated tfa even though imo is the best of this crappy trilogy and knew it could get worse and it did. Lol. I was content with the story from 1 to 6. I love your channel and can't wait to see your reaction lol.
U right bro. Clone wars is very good but rebels to me is meh. I do like rogue one but the other Disney stuff is garbage. I love 1 to 6. I grew up with the original trilogy and love the prequels
Disney canon is not actually that bad. It's the sequels, and all other related events that suck. Rogue one, the mandalorian, rebels, final season of the Clone Wars, Jedi fallen order and squadrons (battlefront 2 story 🤮), the many comic series', and most of the books are actually pretty good.
I agree with you 1000% darksithdemon75. The first movie I remember seeing in theatres was the original Star Wars (back then just called Star Wars and not "A New Hope") in 1977. I was three years old at the time. I was somewhat disappointed with the Prequel Trilogy, but there were many elements that were still pretty good. And it did tell a coherent story from beginning to end, although they didn't tell it particularly well. But this trilogy? Disney's trilogy can burn in the fires of Hell for all I care. The only good Star Wars Disney managed to put out has been Rogue One and The Mandalorean. Clone Wars began long before Disney got hold of the property, so they get little credit for how good it is. Rebels was okay, but not great. Same with Solo. But Episodes 7 through 9 are absolute trash.
When I was watching the movie, that kiss came out of nowhere. Like WHAT THE HELL? Why do they have feelings for each other? Both of them almost killed the other, several times.
According to the director Rose had several more scenes in the script, but they were all with Leia, and they couldn't get the CGI of Leia good enough to be happy with the look of the scenes so they ended up leaving them out of the movie. As to "all of the resistance fighters" at the end they kind of covered that in the movie, when the First Order Admiral is like "Where did this fleet come from?" and his subordinate answers "They don't seem to be a fleet sir, they're just... people." They weren't members of the Resistance, Lando went out and started rallying the common folk and basically the entire galaxy turned out to fight the First Order.
Nobody shows up when the resistance is about to get clapped on Crait by one ship and a couple of gorilla walkers, but when it’s a strait up suicide mission the whole freaking galaxy shows up! Excuse me wot?!
@@smfstracers Do you have some evidence of that or are you just basing it on a general blind hatred of the ST. Because it's a perfectly logical explanation, Leia got almost no screentime, Rose specifically stayed with Leia when everyone else left. So it would make sense that there were supposed to be Rose/Leia scenes that endedup on the cutting room floor.
According to Disney's new expanded universe the Core regions of the galaxy were the Imperial Remnant under Mass Ameda who still had the leftover fleets and admirals from the Empire but didn't go to the First Order and just held Coruscant and the Core and wanted to be neutral... and this movie has Lando go recruit the Core fleets... so according to Disney's own canon, the Imperial forces from the OT end up being the fleet that ends the Sith Empire. Irony.
No events have repercussions.....Finn has something to tell Rey, never tells her.....Chewie is dead, then he isnt.......3P0's memory is erased, R2 has a backup.......Rey kills Kylo, brings him back to life....Hux is the spy, Hux is dead..... You can only get to Exegol with this wayfinder, entire civilian fleet gets to Exegol without it........Finn is only in this movie to shout "REYYYY!!"
Y'know that last scene of the movie showed a deep misunderstanding of the universe in mire ways than just "Rey Skywalker". Rey burried the Lightsaber of Leia and Anakin on Tatooine as a way to honor her and Luke and maybe just the Skywalker bloodline in general. Thing is. Tatooine would be the last place to do that. Ben has zero affiliation to the planet, Leia's only experience there was being Jabba's slave, Luke wanted to get away from that piece of dirt because it offered him nothing of worth for his life and Anakin straight up hated the planet because of the tragedies he endured on it, including but not limited to the death of his mother and also being a slave there. The last scene was supposed to be nostalgic fan service but it failed to do that utterly and completely by not just sending a message completely opposite that of the rest of the movie but also showing a severe lack of understanding when it comes to the entire franchise and it's key figures.
Perhaps, but considering that most of the Skywalker family grew up on Tatooine and are buried there, and the importance of that planet to the lives of the Skywalkers, I think it makes a fitting graveyard. Our of curiosity, which planet would you have chosen instead? Remember that it has to be somewhere that would immediately resonate with the audience, not just the characters. A place to bury the dead, and let everyone move on with her lives. I cannot think of anywhere better than Tatooine for that purpose. It's where the Skywalker saga began, and where it ends.
@@Rocket1377 How about don't bury the lightsabers at all? And the throughline of "a planet the audience will recognize" ain't a good reason. If you wanted to honor the weapon of two Jedi by burying them, why not do so on Coruscant. Or Yavin. Or Ach-To, if you wanna stay within the boundaries of planets established in the ST. All of them planets much more appropriate to bury lightsabers on because all of them are home to Jedi temples and all of them are equally as recognizable or at this point even more recognizable than Tatooine, seeing as the ST established two other desert planets that look virtually identical to Tatooine.
What's even more annoying is you can tell that it was a stylistic choice by Boyega to overemphasize these lines in both 7 and 9 which basically caused the whole "Finn+Rey" narrative assumed by the fans.
The scene where Harrison Ford's spirit appears before Ben/Kylo Ren was originally supposed to be Carrie Fisher, but since she passed, they brought back Ford for the shot.
Bear in mind, they had to literally rewrite the entire script for the rise of Skywalker, because this was supposed to be all about Leia and Carrie Fisher passed away before they began filming, so they had to use left over material and cgi. This film could never be as good, because it could t be what it was meant to be.
@@highstimulation2497 Therese wasnt a plot. They used unused material sinne she was dead. Rise of Skywalker was supposed to be about Leia. But then Carrie fisher died
This was a paint by numbers film, and it showed. Directors, producers and writers who claimed to love SW but clearly didn't give a damn, they were just piecing it along as they went, just to get a paycheck and meet their deadlines. That's the difference between SW under Lucas and SW under Disney. You can disagree all you want with George's vision for SW during the prequel era (and I sure did) but at least you had consistency and a respect for the history. Even from a strictly business standpoint, this film left Lucasfilm with few options going forward.. at least set yourself up for future films...and they didn't even do that.
@@mattrismatt And neither did disney. You can go and pin the blame on others, but Disney mostly had a hand in it. Remind me which multi billion dollar corporation did George Lucas sold his franchise to? Lucasfilm already had a hand in the star wars media such as clone wars and the video games
Ben Solo should have never died at all and should have lived with Rey happily ever after....Isnt that what Star Wars is all about? Fairy tales, happy ending? Unbelievable. Reylo always! 💖
The fact that they are adding this trilogy to the 2 preceding trilogies and calling the lot "The Skywalker Saga" when it's a Palpatine who took the Skywalker name is one of the biggest slaps in the face you could possibly inflict upon the fandom. Moreover, this is spitting on and even taking a dump on the Star Wars story. That's epic trolling right there!
@@kratosGOW Did you forget about Luke's line "Some things are stronger than blood"? Besides, Luke imparting that line and Rey taking on the Skywalker name by choice rather than being born with it reinterprets The Last Jedi‘s democratization of the Force in a way that reinforces this trilogy of trilogies as a family saga. For its part, Star Wars has always been about family. To see this story come to a new close with a broader and more nuanced definition of the word at its heart is The Rise of Skywalker’s most meaningful accomplishment.
I've been really enjoying your reaction videos! I hope you manage to sprinkle in more movies among your episode and game reactions when you do branch out. Looking forward to see what's up next!
Ah, The Rise of Skywalker. The stunning finale to the Skywalker saga, that featured a cameo from Luke, a half assed voice over from Anakin, and the battle between two Palpatines where the winner decides to be a Skywalker in the end, because why not?
Clone Wars is the prequels as they were meant to be😍 great character development! Believable characters! And characters the audience can get invested in! I can't wait for you to experience The Clone Wars!
There is a theory out there where Rey opened a rift in time using the same thing that Ezra did in Starwars Rebels series. With that she went back in time to before Anakin was born, bought the house, changed her name to Skywalker, lived for a few years before becoming a slave and her name became Shimi to hide her true identity, and she started and ended the skywalker legacy. With Palpatine actually being a part of her soul considering she killed him, and thus the darkside was powerful in her when she gave birth to Anakin when Plagius manipulated her midiclorians. Honestly, that theory probably is very false, but it is interesting to say the least.
@LokiTetch, It's also been mentioned by Boyega and others, so it's been made official. And if it not making sense in that context is your logic, just think about all the numerous things throughout the sequel trilogy that didn't make any sense in ANY context.
Palpatine shot himself with his own lightning again. He never learns. xD Btw, when Finn said "Rey, I never told you...", according to the writer, he was going to say that he's force sensitiveness. But like everyone else, I thought that was a romantic confession.
I love that she beat him the exact way Mace WIndu would have beaten him if Anakin hadn't shown up, especially since he's one of the voices. I'm now picturing him also saying: "Oh btw, once he starts shooting the force lightning he can't stop. Hope that helps!"
I feel like those who grew up watching these are likely to have a harder time accepting the various plot points then those just coming in. That is likely because those growing up with it have had years of expectations, well those just joining have likely only seen each film once, and the workings of the world haven't solidified in their minds. They acknowledge the problematic plot points, but they don't have 20+ years to back it up, it's all new, so it's more flexible to a change in interpretation.
"I found this film quite confusing." That's okay, most people did. This is because the film was a mess. The whole sequel trilogy was a mess, in my opinion. Imagine if they had planned out this trilogy rather than making it up as they went along. This fly-by-the-seat-of-the-pants, change according to fan reaction, way of making the trilogy just didn't work for me, and I think a lot of people. A fair number of people enjoy them. Not me. Thanks for the reaction.
I honestly would have loved an all-Abrams trilogy. It would have been a bit too much of a nostalgia trip, but it would have been really good. I honestly would have loved an all-Johnson trilogy. It would have gone completely off the map, given us a world nobody ever expected, and really challenged us as viewers...but it would have been really good. Where the trilogy fails for me is where the tug-of-war between the two directors overwhelms either one's ability to tell a cohesive story. Rey's parents could and should have been nobodies, per Johnson. They could and should have been part of Palpatine's immortality experiments, per Abrams. But having her parentage be important in 7, unimportant in 8, and double-important in 9... it's just one example of the tug-of-war that made it really hard to give the trilogy a real shape & direction.
If I remember correctly from the comics from my youth, Palapatine didn't bring himself back with the force. However he had stolen the secrets of cloning from Clone Wars, and learned the secret of soul transfer stolen from his own master in his youth. So he has many clones, most were failures, but some succesful. If he was at the end of his life he could transfer his soul through the dark force to take control of one of his clones. If you think about it, it's not strange that she adopted the name Skywalker in the end. After all, Kylo Ren (Ben Solo, son of Han Solo and Leia Organa, also Skywalker), transfered his life, his essence, into her to save her. In a way he became a part of her at that moment.
24:38 that's not a plothole. In ROTJ Luke had no reason not to believe in the possibility of bringing Vader back to the light cause he couldn't look into the future and therefore had the "luxury" of not knowing whether or not he'd succeed. However, in TLJ Luke literally looked into Kylo's future and saw that he will fail at preventing his turn and genocide no matter what. That's why both cases are completely different.
Kylo is well harder than Ray in every film. Here he's playing with her and in full health. Last time he thought Ray and fin he had been shot with chewies bowcaster that would instant kill any regular human but kylo cracked on.
Oh I can't wait to see what you think! I hope you don't hate it too badly. This is one of my favorites despite it's flaws. It's true that very little of these films were planned in advance. However for me, Star Wars has always transcended that. George Lucas didn't intend for Luke and Leia to be siblings until the filming of Ep6 for example. Star Wars has always just evolved as it progressed, and it doesn't work for everyone especially the fans. I love all the films, and I'm definitely not alone (I run an instagram page dedicated to SW) but when someone dislikes the sequels that's totally OK. I'm just so happy you loved the originals.

Meh.

“You’re a clone.”
“More than a clone.
_shrug_

I think they got worse backlash with this trilogy
Thank you for acknowledging the issues of the sequels. Yes, it's easy to enjoy when ignoring them or shutting my brain off (I still go back and watch Ep 7, its a fun movie). But as they are trying to build loyalty to the universe, getting people invested in it to keep coming back and spending money (like with the MCU), I feel they should work harder at keeping it consistent. That inconsistency and disconnect to the other 6 films really irked me.
Again, that's just me.
"go on, strike me down, do it"
That voice tho 😂
I absolutely love your reactions
You will love the Mandalorian can't wait for those videos
Fin: "REY! REY!"
Mary: "you gonna keep screaming Rey?"
Fin:
Mary:
Fin: "REY!"
Ep 1-6 are cinematic masterpieces and u forgot clone wars
U right bro. Clone wars is very good but rebels to me is meh. I do like rogue one but the other Disney stuff is garbage. I love 1 to 6. I grew up with the original trilogy and love the prequels
Disney canon is not actually that bad. It's the sequels, and all other related events that suck. Rogue one, the mandalorian, rebels, final season of the Clone Wars, Jedi fallen order and squadrons (battlefront 2 story 🤮), the many comic series', and most of the books are actually pretty good.
@@Dalekscientist well, sequels were the most important story to get right, it still sours the whole canon
I was have half-expecting her to say “I am Iron Man” when she said that line in the theater
Her: "kiss..kiss"
Me: DX GOOD GOD!! SHE'S ONE OF THEM!
lol
When I was watching the movie, that kiss came out of nowhere. Like WHAT THE HELL? Why do they have feelings for each other? Both of them almost killed the other, several times.
Bruh. Same 😂
Reylo forever!
@@margaret7504 Yup
Lol what I thought too 🤦🏻♀️🤣
Ben Solo/Kylo Ren is absolutely my favorite part of the sequels. I was really hoping it’d end with Rey dying and Ben rising as The Last Skywalker
In like 3 hours? Like What?
Nobody shows up when the resistance is about to get clapped on Crait by one ship and a couple of gorilla walkers, but when it’s a strait up suicide mission the whole freaking galaxy shows up! Excuse me wot?!
He threw the CGI team under the bus, scenes with Leia had nothing to do with Rose's limited screentime.
And now you know that there's only 6 star wars movies
I believe there is nine
@@dan1el421 Disney star wars is not canon
Christian Benton it literally is tho. You can’t just say something is not cannon and that makes it not cannon
@@dan1el421 but you can choose to ignore the atrocious 3 movies Disney claims is "star wars"
Nope. Theres 9. Whether you like them or not, they are a part of the saga. Deal with it already.
In the cinema when I watched this
Palpatine went on stage
Me: OH COME THE FUCK ON MAN
"Then why the fuck is this movie called the rise if skywalker?" That my friend, I still wonder to this day
"I am all the Sith". "And I... am..." "IRON MAN!" (my son and I in the cinema 😂)
Idk how some fans did not make that comparison 🤣
The only thing I like about this movie is the scene with all the Jedi's voices.
I cried twice in the movie. 1. When I thought Chewie died...2 when Chewie reacted to Leia dieing
Finn be like: REY!!!!!! REY!!!!!!! REY!!!!!!!
Ducky ( from The Land Before Time ): Oh No No No.
What's even more annoying is you can tell that it was a stylistic choice by Boyega to overemphasize these lines in both 7 and 9 which basically caused the whole "Finn+Rey" narrative assumed by the fans.
You gonna love CLONE WARS!
The scene here with Ben and Han gets me every time :'
Same
Only good part of this movie
@@hache4329 Along with Kylo Ren absolutely whooping rey
The scene where Harrison Ford's spirit appears before Ben/Kylo Ren was originally supposed to be Carrie Fisher, but since she passed, they brought back Ford for the shot.
The Title should have STAR WARS: The Fall of the Franchise
Bear in mind, they had to literally rewrite the entire script for the rise of Skywalker, because this was supposed to be all about Leia and Carrie Fisher passed away before they began filming, so they had to use left over material and cgi.
This film could never be as good, because it could t be what it was meant to be.
all about leia... what was the plot?
_"Amazing. Every word of what you just said... was wrong."_
@@mattrismatt *correct. And disney had no plans for the sequel trilogy.
@@lapplandkun9273 Right, _Lucasfilm did._
@@mattrismatt And neither did disney. You can go and pin the blame on others, but Disney mostly had a hand in it. Remind me which multi billion dollar corporation did George Lucas sold his franchise to? Lucasfilm already had a hand in the star wars media such as clone wars and the video games
I love your take on this iconic series. It was nice to see that you understood allot despite not being alive during the era of the first trilogy.
Ben Solo should have never died at all and should have lived with Rey happily ever after....Isnt that what Star Wars is all about? Fairy tales, happy ending? Unbelievable. Reylo always! 💖
cant tell if you are being sarcastic or not...^^
definently not, just because theres a guy and a girl doesn't mean they need to get together.
Yes, imagine your enemy eliminating your lineage and family and saying its "your saga"
It's not a slap in the face, because Rey did not do it out of spite.
@@gamestation2690
I’m not talking about the character, I’m talking about the writers.
1:05 "She seems to be good at everything and I want to know why."
That. That is everyone's biggest gripe.
Those persons at the end weren't part of the resistance, they we're pilots that wanted to end of once with the empire/final order.
Yeah but that nuance doesn't matter to people who're looking for reasons to criticize.
Well... can’t blame you
Finn wasn't going to confess his love to Rey. The filmmakers mentioned in an interview that Finn was going to tell her he is force sensitive.
@LokiTetch, It's also been mentioned by Boyega and others, so it's been made official. And if it not making sense in that context is your logic, just think about all the numerous things throughout the sequel trilogy that didn't make any sense in ANY context.
Palpatine shot himself with his own lightning again. He never learns. xD
Btw, when Finn said "Rey, I never told you...", according to the writer, he was going to say that he's force sensitiveness. But like everyone else, I thought that was a romantic confession.
i always felt like it was him trying to tell her who she was
I love that she beat him the exact way Mace WIndu would have beaten him if Anakin hadn't shown up, especially since he's one of the voices. I'm now picturing him also saying: "Oh btw, once he starts shooting the force lightning he can't stop. Hope that helps!"
Just a correction Mary, it was not telekinesis he used, it was astral projection, telekinesis is being able to move physical objects:)
Finn was trying to tell Rey, that whole time, that he was Force sensitive, as well, not that he was in love with her.
"I found this film quite confusing."
That's okay, most people did.
Your reactions and people’s criticisms toward this trilogy is much more enjoyable than the trilogy itself
I liked “Rey from nowhere” from 8. It said that Legacy doesn’t matter... ep.9 ruined that...
Exactly 👍🏼👍🏼
@@LukeMaynard im gonna be honest I prefer last Jedi than both JJ movies
the concept is great but rey from nowhere was poor;ey done.
Mary Cherry almost every one of your reactions were all of us when this film came out!
