      They should've just had JJ do the entire thing. Palpatine probably had early signs of his return in JJ's episode 8 but it seems like they did away with any idea he had for that so they had to shoehorn his return. Not how you handle a trilogy at all. I'm not saying it would've been a better story but at least the entire thing would've flowed better~

      Ezra was not a voice in there. All the Jedi she heard were Jedi who had become one with the force. This is Disney telling us that Ezra is not dead up to this point. Lucasfilm takes particular care to make sure as many elements are not overlooked as possible so since we do not hear him it is a 100% guarantee that he is alive.
      Since we hear Ahsoka it unfortunately means at that time she is one with the force as well. Same with Mace.

    18:07 Rey's father is actually a non-identical clone of Darth Sidious. Despite that, he wasn't strong with the Force like his "father," the Emperor. Sidious was disgusted that anything so ordinary could be made from his blood; he even referred to his "son" as a useless creature that he rejected.
    He only allowed his "son" to live out of hope that it would sire a child that was born Force-sensitive via the Palpatine bloodline.
    30:17 The Knights of Ren are Force-sensitive and they basically worship the dark side of the Force. They would be able to sense that Ben Solo had turned back to the light side and was no longer Kylo Ren. When that happened, the Knights ceased to be his followers.

She was never comfortable using a lightsaber or drawing on the force to enhance her combat abilities as Jedi do although she did train with Luke a little while she quickly left it behind and focused on being a politician and mother, raising three little ones who carried the power of the Skywalker bloodline. The two worst big budget entertainment products of the last decade were GoT season 8 and Disney SW trilogy.
    With GoT it went wrong because the showrunners wanted to quit, so they massively rushed the ending. Still very strange that HBO didn't just replace them.
    But Disney takes the cake with how unbelievable it is how they approached the SW sequel trilogy. They had spent billions of dollars on the rights to the franchise and then they allowed a trilogy to be created, at the cost of another billion dollars, without any complete story for the whole trilogy written in advance.

      The OT didnt have a full story laid out. Do you think Lucas thought of Luke and Leia being brother/sister before or after they kissed? The real problem with the ST is the fans. They wanted the feel of the OT - JJ gave you that with TFA, then they complained it was too much like the OTs. So, Rian delivered an amazing story that took Star Wars to new heights, but again the fans complained about how it treated Luke or for some dumb reason all 3 stars werent in the falcon together. So, Disney panicked and went back to JJ and tried to shoehorn something together in the middle resulting in an uneven story. Disney failed by not sticking to their guns and letting Rian finish the story to payoff what he set up. The problem more than anything was hiring directors with conflicting ideas of what they wanted a new trilogy to be and you can see that play out in the films. Rey can heal and is overpowered because she draws power from the dark side, as well as from the light.
    There's a RUclipsr who made a video just before episode 8 came out that theorized that Rey was a Palpatine and he based it on her fighting style with a Lightsaber from episode VII and also from her theme being eerily similar in structure to Darth Sidious'

I thought Luke was going to show her that the Jedi are wrong to focus solely on the light and the correct path was finding balance in oneself. Since the original Jedi balanced light and dark and he went looking for the first Jedi temple I assumed this is the answer he was going to find.

    • @willpina
      @willpina 2 года назад +2

      @@stefankrautz9048 the only problem with your statement is that you're projecting your own misogynistic insecurities on the movie. But if your point is that "woman MC means woke agenda" then you are just showing what a snowflake you are.
      And pretty much the same can be said about Luke on the original trilogy. Nobody has a problem with that, myself included. But unlike Luke, who was a pampered farm boy, Rey was on her own already living a tough life. It makes sense that she was physically and mentally tougher than Luke at the same point of their respective lives.

      Still didn’t like it. She healed others from fatal wounds with no repercussions but the one good character from this trilogy died from healing her once? I smell a but of Mary Sue. But we’re not here to sh*t on the sequels, it was a good reaction indeed.

      @@ebreshea That's what I assume, how much energy he had drained from them and how much energy he gave to her versus her being fully rested and healthy when she healed the other people. Not to mention of course, him being thrown off a cliff and all that. So we don't know how life force he had left in him, and of course it being his first time using it. He likely didn't have much control. It doesn't make it good, but it makes it more plausible.

    "He's [C3PO] been with us through it all." Lucas's original plan from the very beginning was that the entire story would be told through the two droids.
    And this, from Vanity Fair: "Carrie Fisher passed away a few months after completing work on "Episode VIII The Last Jedi," but, due to the time it takes for post-production, nearly a year before VIII was released in theaters. Her final appearance in a Star Wars film came with The Rise of Skywalker, a movie that didn't even have a script when she passed away." They did an amazing job of special effects to create her scenes for Episode IX.

    • @zybch
      @zybch 2 года назад

      No VFX other than regular editing were permitted by Carrie Fisher's estate. So nothing like in Rogue One. Thats perhaps why the character's performance was so disjointed and out of place. The director and editors did what they could but it ended up looking very shoehorned in.

      @@zybch Ok, so no "CGI" of her face, but I wouldn't call what they did "regular editing." Again, from Vanity Fair: "While Fisher's expressions were never digitally changed, everything except her face was rendered by visual effects artists. Roger Guyett, visual effects supervisor: When you watch the movie you just want to believe that Carrie's there, and it's just completely natural within the scene."

    Fun little facts: The bounty hunter whose face we never see other then her eyes, Zorii Bliss, is played by Keri Russell. The director, J.J. Abrams, likes to cast friends and people he's worked with before in his projects. Abrams worked with Russell early in both their careers on the TV Show "Felicity", which he created/produced and in which she starred (he also cast her in a small role in "Mission: Impossible III"). Other examples of this are Dominic Monaghan as one of the rebels (better known as Merry from Lord of the Rings) with whom Abrams worked on his TV show "Lost", and Greg Grunberg (the overweight, bearded rebel pilot) with whom he's been friends since college and whom Abrams casts in almost everything he does.

      Ignoring fanboys and "woulda coulda" opinions, I think the main gripe people have boils down to consistency in tone and storytelling. The tone of movies shift wildly from movie to movie and there are apparent dips in quality in the scriptwriting and storytelling.
      A great example of quality and consistency is LOTR and the Mandalorian. Granted, hindsight being what it is, Lucas didn't have the luxury to film all his movies in a row or concurrently, so unfortunate changes in quality between movies was inevitable based on director availability and just how things were done back in the day and with large gaps between films. But it seems progress is being made with finding quality directors again (Favraeu).

    • @extantsanity

      @@CarbonPixel78 Yeah, for a company with their legacy and history of success, the two biggest errors they made that can't ever be forgiven are (1) not having any kind of plan for the trilogy in the first place and (2) trying to course correct -- twice -- as a consequence of (1). It's like those drivers you see in Honda Civics who miss their exit, so they try to go off-roading rather than being patient and taking the next exit. But in Disney's case, they made it worse by driving 70 yards before second-guessing their choice and trying to get back on the highway after the point of no return. It's like, "After the first rumble in the dirt, *_why_* did you think the second one was going to be a good idea?"
      When all the TROS dumpster fire rumors poured out before the release of the movie, I just had to laugh. At some point, it's just too comical to not enjoy the blaze.

      I know people didn't like it, but I think a major thing is that Ben had to give his life to save Rey. That was the secret that Palpatine and the Sith never learned - that the power to save another required complete sacrifice of oneself. Sith could never understand that.
