I didn’t think he was alive honestly. I just thought that his ghost/spirit was just haunting the Death Star and that’s why people wouldn’t salvage it.
I was upset when I heard Palpatine but tried staying postive not believing his back... until I saw it... even worse when I realized there was no ghost of Anakin...
Mind-blown. I may not be a Darth fan (although his voice actor I’m a huge fan of - the awesome Mr. James Earl Jones) but - even though he was a baddie, he deserved to be part of this. Man !!!! 😡

As bad as this trilogy was, its brings a smile to my face, seeing everyone happy. I watched the trailer and movies and came out happy as well. Sadly the more you question the actual logic behind everything, your opinion changes.

No, on it's own, it's awful.
In order for her to get the map, she had to search a whole planet for the knife map, accidentally found in a snake tunnel WHICH they clarified went on for miles, meaning out of miles and miles of tunneling they just happened to land next to where it was. Also, over 30 years, the knife didnt deteriorate at all or get dragged away. Let's say it was a special kind of metal to be generous. Now the DEATH STAR. You literally saw not one, but both death stars explode into nothingness. So even if a chunk of the death star that big did land on a planet, how did it not break up through the atmosphere or shatter when crashing into the ocean. Or not get rusted or worn away after 30+ years inside the ocean, getting pelted by those huge waves. Again, let's just say it's a special metal.
So even if both were made out of the best metal in the world, she would still have to stand in the EXACT position to make the map work. And out of the entire shore, THE ENTIRE PLANET, she stood in the exact perfect spot. That's the biggest bullshit case of plot convenience ever.

It wasn’t executed horribly what are you taking about. It was better than The Last Jedi. JJ Abrams had to fix what Rian Johnson messed up and had to finish it probably. It could of been better but he is no George Lucas so this is what we have.

Vader didn’t die for nothing but ok. Kyle Ren was never a villain either, just had mis-judgement. People have randomly come back before. It’s not even that hard to believe. Palpatine’s a smart mofo, what fucked it all up was the execution of the movie. Still, it makes me happy to all the SW fans happy before the inevitable disappointment.

The Palpatine laughter was the best part of the trailer. In fact, Palpatine was the only good part about the movie.. besides the whole fleet just coming in. Palpatine is just a win, no matter what people say.

I love how a lot of people were excited when we heard his laugh, but then the shit hole of a film came out and everyone was like "why did they bring back?"
To be honest palpatine was the coolest part of this whole movie. Like when he said "everything" and then all the star destroyers came out of the ground I got crazy chills.
I remember watching the trailer with little to no interest after the terrible films of solo and the last jedi, and as soon as I heard palpatine laugh my interest skyrocketed 100%, but after the adrenaline high I got wore off I realized just how desperate and sloppy disney really was to try to bring back all the fans. Star wars went from "forget the last, kill it if you have to" to "lol ok heres palpatine come back please we want your money."

For everyone questioning the choices they made for the sequels (mostly ROS), here’s my thoughts (no hate):
Now that I think about it more, it makes more sense why they chose to bring Palpatine back. We see in TPM Maul get sliced in half and fall all the way down nearly the same way as Palpatine did so. Then, we see Maul survived in Clone Wars and officially killed in Rebels. When we look at ROTJ, Vader picks up Palpatine and throws him down the reactor, saving his son, but results in his death. Seeing Maul survived that fall, it makes sense that the emperor would have also, seeing him as much more powerful. And now, he’s in ROS.
I’m still not super into this idea of bringing Palp back, but no hate. Just my thoughts.

Still trying to figure out way it’s called rise of sky walker when Luke did less in this film than the one before
40 years of a beautiful storyline, and Disney deletes most of it so they can basically turn Star Wars into Power Rangers. Nothing the characters do matters and any villain that dies can come back to life for no reason other than sales popularity. I like power rangers but that kind of structure doesn't belong in Star Wars. Also George said in 2006 that these movies were done anyway. It starts with Episode I and ends with Episode VI. As far as I'm concerned, The Force Awakens is a New Hope reboot and the other two are shitty fan films. The scripts even READ like shitty fan fictions. Pissed everyone off including the cast and crew. Way to fuck things up AGAIN, Mickey.

I would agree that most fans recognized Palpatine's voice and got excited about seeing the emperor again. However that being said, the biggest applause came from the title "Rise of Skywalker. " Like ne im pretty sure that the majority of fans thought Luke was coming back from the dead somehow and we were going to see him kick a lot of First Order butt. The title got a bigger standing ovation than Palpatine's voice. It was great to see him again to bring the saga to an end though. My favorite character has been and always will be......Luke Skywalker.

Now can I say old fan hate aside... let people enjoy the trilogy they want to... different people grew up on different ones.. just let us be a big happy Star Wars family and stuff.. I enjoyed the sequels mostly because i am child at heart so like.. big moments and lots of explosions and shit i am hooked on XD grew up on the prequels tbh so maybe that's why i can shrug off hate for a trilogy... each trilogy has merits and stuff, each were written at different times for different audiences but they still Star Wars at the core

Honestly I was pissed when I heard they brought him back. The sequels really fucked up the original ending with this one. It was said that the Empire was gone since palpatine and vader has been killed. Just to bring palps back like thats uncalled for. I always said if they brought him back too then why the hell havent they brought mace windu back? Maul came back after his supposed death and being cut in half, palpatine came back but mace isnt back yet? I dont get it. I would rather see a mace windu arch then palpatine again.

I've no idea why people were so excited about this trailer/Palpatine's return. Even if they didn't inevitably completely botch it, it literally ruined the OT/Anakin's prophecy. I remember when I watched this, I was so confused because Palpatine’s laugh happened, and I thought that he died in episode 6, but Disney had to make these weird loopholes that make no sense. They were just milking out Palpatine if we are being real.

I love how this movie just decides that you can be a Skywalker just because you choose to be, as if it wasn't anyone in that universe's actual surname. I am now Harley Skywalker-Palpatine. I said it, so now it's true. I learned it from Space Mountain-- er, I mean... UGHHH... "Star Wars" (It's NOT Star Wars, doesn't look or feel like it, but sure, it's Star Wars, and is by no means trying to be Marvel).
I'm only disappointed at the ending of the movie. They didn't make it like emotional or let us see what happen to all the characters after the final fight. Only bb8, skywalker, princess leia and Rey where seen at the ending☹️
