i just want to make 1 point very clear. i did not think luke ACTUALLY died because of the title of the 9th film (i believed it referred to him). when he fell/went invisible, i thought he just passed out & astral projected again, from using a high amount of force energy.. once i found out... i was actually very very sad. *if you're after UNCUT for both ep 7,8 & 9 it's available on* www.patreon.com/marycherryofficial ++ i want to thank everyone that helped me reach 25k on YT. love you all
To all the “haters” of this film who say it “ruined THEIR Luke Skywallker”, I ask them to watch these two short videos. Then it will all make sense. I got it right away when I saw it in theaters: ruclips.net/video/iEfdHYpdKlw/видео.html www.dailymotion.com/video/x6gawe2?fbclid=IwAR2MQ3xsBRHSopq_DH4XpNwxaysxSTqMliBe1S6xKJY_eKXUcxG4sTT4NeM
@@JedHead77 Saw the video. Completely disagree. Luke throws the saber in ROTJ as a rejection to the dark side/ Palpatine. He throws it in TLJ as a rejection to the Jedi. Plus his main "sin" is that he tried to kill his nephew in his sleep and without ever committing a crime. That was unforgivable. The other crime that TLJ did was not train Rey.
I am glad you liked TLJ. It is my favorite Star Wars of all time. Luke was the Jedi that Yoda talked about when he was training. A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense never for attack.
Because of some of these details, this film has actually grown on me. I still absolutely hate it, but not nearly as much as the next one... That´s where all hope is lost and they fucked up everything completely......
@@LOTRFAN33 Well, Snoke was very powerfull. Second, Snoke did the trick only for Kylo and Rey. Luke did the mental trick from far away to 2 batallions of people watching his projection fighting Kylo.
@@LOTRFAN33 What Snoke did was different. He linked too minds together. Whereas Luke projected his image and force essence (hence why Leia and Ren couldn't sense he wasn't actually there) to another location.
@@mrpix3l_colorist Snoke connected 2 people together one of which he had no idea where she was. Btw how does that even make sense? I would think that is way harder to do. Plus he did it several times. Also Luke was also very powerful.
The throne room scene between Kylo and Rey is my favorite from this movie. I liked the way Kylo said that she was nothing but not to me...not necessarily the sentiment but the acting from Adam Driver is great. I've liked him in everything I've seen him in.
You hit on it exactly, "She has the most reason to join". Kylo Ren has a Heros backstory, Rey has a villain's backstory, And yet they are on the opposite side you would expect.
At 5:30 ish you say that they hadn't seen Rey in a long time but at most it has been a week from EP7 to EP8 just so you know. That's one of the reasons some people dislike the movie, it was established in the previous movies that to be strong in the force requieres knowledge, training, and discipline, specially in the light side since the dark side is the easy path to power. Also you said that she was resisting Kylo's offer of joining the dark side when she should be tempted and you're correct, by the way Rey grew up(surviving and fending for herself in Jakku all her life) it would make more sense for her to be tempted since her life must haven filled with strife, anger, and resentment, but alas her past doesn't really come into play except for her missing her parents but never about her experiences living in Jakku for 15 or so years.
so great to see someone see Luke's force feat for the first time again, I get chills everytime I watch that scene, especially remembering the entire theater losing their minds when it came out, it was incredible!
@8:00 There's a ton that makes absolutely no sense in this movie. Finn knows how to pilot now...when he didnt 6 hours ago. and that's just the start. I love how Finn just picks up Rose next to 30 atats and apparently just walks all the way back to the base with no one even trying to shoot at them even though they neither of them should have survived to start with after she crashed into him with. This film was mostly L-A-Z-Y.
Though TROS was *by far* lazier. As someone who for some reason I can't explain enojoyed episode 8, I do See how other ppl don't like this movie, but let's be real, TROS was the true mess out of that trilogy. And that says a lot xD
The reasoning that I have for Rey being such a good fighter is that she has pretty much lived on her own since she was a small child. She would have to learn to defend herself in order to survive. Of course being so strong in the Force would help with your reflexes.
@Stonecoldku Yes she trained to fight and defend herself... with a bo-staff. Which is very different from a sword. Being strong with the force can be a good thing and it would help with the reflexes once you know how to use the force. Im not trying to attack you or anything just trying to give my opinion.
@@levinabear5234 I did think of this though. Anakin didn't know how to use the Force or have any training when he was a small boy, but he was still able to Pod-race. To which Qui-gon replied with "You must have Jedi reflexes to able to do that." So, yes your reflexes would improve once you were more aware of the Force and trained, but being strong with the Force will still allow you to things that normal people can't including defending yourself. Or that boy at the end of the movie. He may or may not have had any Force training, but he was still able to pull the broom to himself using it. I'm not attacking you or anything, I'm just pointing out some examples that can help my argument on Rey's ability to fight.
That will only take you so far. The fact that she went toe to toe without an issue with someone trained with a lightsaber and the force is absurd. The only reason Luke was able to manage against Vader is Vader was holding back both times. First cause he was trying to capture him, second cause he was conflicted. Rey is a terribly written character and a total Mary Sue.
Kerry Collier I respect your opinion everyone doesn’t have to like her, I don’t love her but I don’t hate her either. So many instances of main characters being too gifted. Lets be consistent with every instance; Luke who has never flown a ship just his speeder could fly around and out maneuver tie fighters and the same day he learned about the force he pin point shot the Death Star weakness and Vader who’s an excellent pilot couldn’t stop him. Or 9 year old Anakin who rides around in pod races at that young age can just hop in a ship and blow up the space station and come back safely. Being the chosen one doesn’t excuse being a technological genius that can create a sophisticated droid and an ace pilot without being taught anything. Is Rey a Mary Sue yes, doesn’t mean Luke and Anakin don’t have Gary Sue moments. Yes I agree with what you said about Luke vs Vader in their duels. I don’t really wanna fight over stuff like this I just want to enjoy Star Wars for being Star Wars they all have flaws and hiccups but I’ve always felt the magic(the series is more in line with science fantasy rather than actual science fiction). I’m sorry these films rubbed you the wrong way, I can’t expect everyone to like or hate them. It is what it is :)
@Kerry Collier Kylo was holding back in TFA too, because he wanted her to become his disciple. Before she started using the Force, he was winning the fight and he could have easily killed her on that cliff. Not to mention that killing Han got him conflicted/weakened and he had been injured by Chewie’s crossbow, which the movie went out of its way multiple times to show how powerful it is.
*Kylo Slashes Luke with a saber with the intent to kill him* Luke: [Ha Ha, you thought you killed me? Nah I’m just so strong in the force that I am using it to project myself. You didn’t kill me] “See you around kid.” Luke: *Dies anyways* Kylo: “NOOOOOOO!”
In my heart, what Kylo says about Rey's parents is the real truth. People who watch and write SW are too obsessed with legacy. Not every main character has to be a descendant of someone from the OT. The Force can manifest in any child, and the inhabited SW universe is huge and full of people that are not Skywalkers or Kenobis.
This opinion has weight if these movies were called anything but Episode whatever. But, they are, so they are supposed to have continuity. If not, then why not just call them something else. This trilogy felt like it had nothing to do with Episodes 1-6. That's why there was an expectation that did not get fulfilled. The Mandalorian, as far as we know, is not related to anyone we know in SW. Neither is Grogu. But, no one cares because the show is not intended to be a continuation of any other SW story.
What I remember from this movie was: I liked the fight scene between Rey, Ben, Snoke and a bunch of grown children who apparently got no further training. I liked the feelings invoked just by SEEING the Millennium Falcon, and I liked the impotent rage Ben had against Luke, who sucked him in like a puppet. I also remember disappointment with Finn not being able to save the day because of 'reasons'. And the crystal foxes, I liked the crystal foxes.
I loved that you liked this film.... I live for people finding out that Luke was an hologram all time.... That scene had me wide opened for the first time!!
YES! We get to see Luke Skywalker, the most POWERFUL Jedi unleash his true potential that George Lucas has been saying for almost 30 years!!!! ...Aaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnndddddddd ...HE'S DEAD!
When watching this film, I hear the Honest Trailers statement; "All the questions from Episode 7 get answered by asking 'what are the most disappointing answers to the questions from Episode 7." If it was a standalone movie with original characters in a different universe, this would be a much better experience... but as it stands, I can only wish that I liked this movie.
100% percent. The issue with this movie is that it doesn't exist in a vacuum. It's part of a larger story and it doesn't fit into that larger story at all.
Watching this reaction is the closest I've come to watching this movie for a second time.....I won't lie my stomach still twists in knots trying to understand they choices made.
You'd think so, but people still can't understand how she can use a lightsaber despite having been shown to train with and use melee weapons all her life
@@sirjedisentinel Because using a light saber is not the same as using a staff. if you train would a sword could you suddenly know how to use Nunchucks? Weapons are so specialized that a person would not even be able to use different types of the same weapon. for example, a person that can use a katana would not be an expert at a rapier. these seems like a simple concept
Ahhh the parallels between episode 4 and 8!!!! Obi-Wan sacrificing himself so that the Rebels can escape, and Luke sacrificing himself for the Resistance.
The Last Jedi is actually my favorite sequel movie - even if I admit that it didn't fit well into the trilogy (if it was planned the way it came out). BUT: The themes this movie tries to tackle - Dark and Light side not being absolutes - the hinting of grey force users (even Yoda said, that it was time for the Jedi as a strict creed to end) - Rey coming from "nothing" was the best idea in this movie - what better message to send young fans that you don't have to be "born" into powerful families in order to change something? - Luke's story and redemption that ends with the final stand that perfectly encompasses what the Jedi stood for: A compassionate, selfless, and peaceful sacrifice in order to protect others. He even showed compassion to Kylo Ren and apologized for failing him. I hope Rian Johnson gets his own trilogy - giving him the chance to tell a story that deals with maybe some of the more complex themes surrounding force users would be amazing!
Rian Johnson’s “Trilogy” will never happen. Why would Disney risk dividing the fan base further, especially after John Boyega essential publicly castigated Johnson for The Last Jedi??
I hope he gets his own trilogy, it'd be awesome. He should have written and directed #9 as well. Nothing against JJ but TRoS just killed all momentum and all the life that TLJ had restored to a lumbering franchise. I'd give anything to have #9 replaced by a Rian Johnson version. Would be amazing.
I'm SOOOOO glad you liked this more than TFA. This movie has sooo many layers and themes never explored before in Star Wars and I think Rian took the universe to the next level. Love the character arcs in this film and how it pays off in the end. It's not the most rewatchable film but the depth it has makes me love it even more.
I think the biggest highlights of this movie are the arcs of Luke, Rey and Ben, but I also love the conflicting philosophy that you see across the board in the film of "Letting the past die" vs "Let the past define our decisions" vs "Learn from the past". It's a fantastic theme. Ben is determined to leave behind everything he knew (though even then he's conflicted and can't kill his own mother) and by the end of the film he commits to it only to lose the person he'd spent the film bonding with. Poe, Finn, Rose and Rey are all sure the path to victory is in a hare-brained risky plan or through the redemption of the villain in Rey's case, because that kind of thing is what the heroes of past Star Wars films thrived on, but all those plans end in failure. Ultimately, Yoda comes right out and says it's important to understand where the Jedi, among others, went wrong in the past and learn from those mistakes. Rey switches from prioritising the villain to prioritising her friends. She decides to stick with them in spite of the disappointing truth behind her past. She stops letting her need for answers define her. Poe learns not to be so headstrong and makes leadership decisions that prioritise preserving the lives of the Resistance instead of trying to blow them up all the time. And Luke learns to see both himself and the Jedi as more than the sum of their past mistakes. I do think the execution of the film's themes are a bit clumsy, particularly in regards to things like Finn's arc and Poe's conflict with Holdo. I think the film needed one more draft of the script to iron stuff like that out, but there are a few things, like that, that I think were cleverly done and give this film a unique and incredible value. In any case, I'm glad you enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to seeing your reaction to the last one!
I have some issues with this movie, I don't love every decision, but over all I think it's the best of the Sequel Trilogy and Luke's confrontation with Kylo is one of the all time stand out moments. Luke Skywalker saves the Rebellion by standing up to the might of the First Order and Kylo Ren without harming a single person, without violence. That's the truest expression of Jedi philosophy we've seen in any of the movies.
Rose tries to "save" Finn from a completely acceptable kamikaze attack by drilling her plane thingy into his, which could have easily killed him, and now nothing stands in the way of that big canon. Way to go Rose!
@@ReySkywalker2 The canon was charging up, any Collison with that charge up would have caused it to backfire destroying the canon. If finns craft (which was falling apart) could survive rose who some how managed to make it to finn who was going at full speed and crash into him then im more than sure finn would have achieved his goal and saved the remaining resistance members. Overall the scene was a mess
Kayla bear Wrong. You act as though you know this but you’re making it all up. If Finn had crashed into the cannon, it would’ve done nothing. The cannon would not have been destroyed and Finn would’ve died for nothing. Also, Finn was travelling far slower due to the cannon’s push, which is how Rose caught up to him and was able to save him from a futile sacrifice.
You notice how dark Luke's hair and beard is when he is astral battling Kylo Ren. All his energy is poured into that telekinetic projection so he looked younger.
I'm so glad you liked THE LAST JEDI. I knew you would, Mary. It's my favorite of the sequel trilogy and, I think, one of the best written and executed of the STAR WARS films. Unfortunately, I feel the rest of the sequel trilogy is a mess, generally, with some standout moments.
Episode 7 had me surprisingly pumped... 8... sabotaged it. Rey doesn't earn any of her strengths, there's no explanation for any that she does & as for Rey's parents... tut tut tut
I feel the opposite, of the final 3, this was by FAR the best of them. Episode VII was a lot of fan service, but it did it's job of introducing new characters and was a fun story, even with the whole "yet another death star" story, it was a good solid movie. I never understood the "NEED" to know who Rey's parents were, by the very rules of the old Jedi, Jedi rarely have offspring, yet new force sensitive people were popping up all the time. But I really loved the direction they were going in Episode VIII, kill off the the last of the Jedi, maybe Rey (and Ben) somehow bring "balance to the force" and have a new order of force weilders who are able to have emotions without being ruled by them, it got me excited for episode IX, and the direction it would take but some fanboys hated this one so the studio blinked and threw away everything that this one looked to be setting up and they rolled out the garbage fire that is Episode IX. Thankfully the Mandalorean has come along to give us some great Star Wars story telling since.
Kylo defeating Snoke wasn't as out of place as you think. Snoke was reading Kylo's intent. If you watch closely, Kylo was doing everything Snoke said he read from him, he was just doing it in double. For every action he took against Rey, he also did it against Snoke. That is, until the very last action, which was too late for Snoke to react to. It was quite clever in my mind.
Yeah, Rey is amazing in every single way. That´s the problem. She is flawless. Luke had to work hard to become a Jedi, he suffered and almost died. Even Anakin had a long journey before he could become so powerful.
Wrong, wrong, wrong. Rey is not “aMzaIng in EvERy siNgKd wAy”. Flawless? Rey is SO flawed. The thing people can’t get is that Rey’s character is DEEP and her flaws are INTERNAL. Rey’s flawed internally with her CORE BELIEF that she is worthless. Rey literally almost died in this film and LITERALLY DID DIE IN TROS.
@@ReySkywalker2 her internal struggles are irrelevant. she is skilled beyond reason which makes people disconnect with the film. Imagine you took a girl who had never played basketball and on the first day she touched one, and without any practice, she was dunking on LeBron. Wouldn't you say WTF is going on? how is it possible? It does not matter what internal conflict is going on, Rey is too overpowered
wizdumbbk wrong her internal struggles are completely relevant. she’s not skilled beyond reason at all. many many people connect with the film and the character for her deep internal journey. Your analogy is flawed and immature. Rey has knowledge and practice using a staff which is similar to a lightsaber moreover Kylo Ren was injured and bleeding out if LeBron James was shot then yes a girl who never played basketball before could be better than him
@@ReySkywalker2 Her internal struggles are irrelevant. What was her internal journey? if you think her journey was "deep" I suggest you read more books with quality female characters. My analogy is not flawed at all but it does show your immaturity as you do not know when to admit you are wrong. You know nothing about weapons. A person that uses a staff will not be good at using a sword. Two VERY different weapons. The same way a person that is good with a hand gun will not automatically be good with a rifle. And if Lebron James was injured and lost to someone that never played before LeBron is a BUM. I don't care if they cut one of his arms off, there is no way a professional at anything should loose to someone that knows nothing about his discipline and has never participated in it. this shows you lack of understanding about what it takes to be good at something, and maybe that's why you like Rey. You want to believe anyone can be good at anything without every studying, working hard, or dedicating themselves.
I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I can see why people like this movie... I just did not have the same experience. It's hard to explain what it feels like as a long time fan to see the characters you've loved for so long done dirty like this. I don't "hate" the movie now, but I was REALLY disappointed when I left the theater for this one. This is the only SW movie I've only watched one time.
I think watching The last Jedi was an unique experience, I thought it is better than episode 7 when I watched it in the cinema. Rian Johnson is a talented director, we can see that through those memorable scenes in the movie, for instance, the fighters battle scene on Crait. Thats such an amazing picture! I thought the first half of the movie is boring ,since there are some not-so-funny disney jokes, creepy milk-drinking scene of Luke, meaningless adventure of Finn, pointless Self-saber training of Rey,etc. Yet, the critical scene was when we are told that Luke was using force-projecting,I really thought Rian Johnson is a genius, cause the way he handled this scene was so clever, the reason is , we all know Mark Hamill is keen on filming StarWars so he will undoubtedly be in episode9, so the best way is let Luke show some tricks to defeat the first order in episode 8 and then let him have a serious and exciting duel with his enemy(then he may die in honor) And then! Luke is dead ?! I am not saying it was not heroic but that makes the plot so stupid. He tries to help the resistance without risking his life so he used the force projection. He could have come in real person to face kylo if he is really to sacrifice. Then you will start realizing a lot of plot holes just because the first half of this movie was good enough to fool you.Refresh your mind and then you will find more.
Okay! At the beginning of the video, Kylo and Rey are fighting the guards and at 0:38 when the guard has the upper hand of Rey he had two red knives both of he’s hand and one miraculous disappears!! If you didn’t catch that I would rewatch that scene!! 😆 “It time for Luck to Restart the Order!” And Luke Is Bye Bye 👋 with The Force!! 😉 I can’t wait to see your Next Reaction to The Rise of Skywalker and The Mandolarian!! Remember “No one is ever really gone...” Remember that til The Final Saga!! I have spoken...
"Kylo can't turn back after killing Han Solo" But didn't Anikin turn back after killing all those younglings... and however many thousand other people after turning to the dark side??
This movie got too much hate. Yeah, it's flawed, but it's so well done for the story given (don't mind me, currently binging because these reactions make me SO HAPPY 😂)
I'm no Star Wars 'historian' and fact-checker, but when I watched this film, I was highly entertained. The force seems to be in good hands with Rey. Luke is a legend, but he needed to pass on the lightsaber....
My dad actually has a fan theory on why Snoke wouldn't have seen that betrayal coming, sort of. In Episode 6 when the Emperor couldn't sense that Luke was on Endor and didn't see Darth Vadar's betrayal coming was because the Dark Side blinded him. Basically, it doesn't show you things you don't already know. So Snoke wouldn't have seen that coming either. Honestly, it's a decent enough explanation for why the Sith never seem to see any betrayals coming.
Mark Hamill improvised kissing Leia on her forehead, and now that Carrie Fisher is gone, that part always breaks my heart. It's Luke saying goodbye to his sister, but it is also like we are saying goodbye to Carrie. But then again, no one is every really gone.
Luke’s death is one of the best parts in the entire saga. I feel it’s very fitting for his character to go out reigniting hope in the galaxy. Especially with the twin suns paralleling the first film we saw him in. I honestly couldn’t have imagined a better death scene for him, his death was peaceful. Going out guns blazing would’ve been silly and fan service-y imo.
I actually agree, despite saddening me greatly. I've always viewed that the sequel trilogy was meant to introduce new heroes and new sparks of hope while the old heroes would mentor and slowly disappear since they've done their job as heroes; from another time. It's time to let the new generation shine and spark a new hope.
Ben Jeremiah Lim I agree! I always saw this trilogy as Rey, Finn, Poe and Kylo’s trilogy. The OG characters are supposed to be there to progress the new characters’ stories forward, and I feel that the Last Jedi did that really well.
I agree. So many wanted that scene to be real. But then Luke is elevated to this invincible Superman like character. The appeal is that in Star Wars really everyone even the Jedi is vulnerable.
Agreed! Luke's last stand was one of the most "Jedi" actions ever: A selfless and non-violent sacrifice to protect and inspire. Plus it cemented Luke as one of the most powerful force users ever - he astral projected himself across the damn galaxy! The movie gave small little hints of his true power and control of the force (him exploding the hut where Rey and Ben touched and him stopping his fall inches from the ground - immense power and control). Also - he was able to feel Leia from across the galaxy.
They did Finn alright. He had his own entire plot which took up a lot of film, and he became his own character with this own motivation, freeing him from the shackles of scared run-away that Episode 7 birthed him with. Episode 9 does him dirty by relegating him to a screaming lackey for Rey and not actually continuing this storyline of looking behind the war and motivating him to fight on his own right. The original Episode 9 script where Finn lead a stormtrooper revolution against the First Order would have followed on perfectly from his Canto Blight storyline and made this all worthwhile - unfortunately the 9 we got failed to capitalise on anything to make the trilogy coherent.
What I like about The Last Jedi is that it takes everyone's expectations and throws them out the window. What I don't like about it is that, as the penultimate episode, RJ should NOT have twisted everything upside-down and inside-out. It would be fine if the saga continued after Episode 9, but with just 1 film remaining, he should have taken a safer route.
Nice reaction as usual Mary! That scene where Holdo warp sped Snoke's ship was something to see - the silence further strengthened that WTF effect - anyway, as usual, onto the next one! Much love from the Philippines!
YES!!! He had power, but he didn't have discipline. That's why he didn't sense Ren's betrayel. He was too confident and didnt' bother to look deeper than the surface of Ren's mind.
My favorite Star Wars movie by far. The direction Rian Johnson chose to go was just incredibly interesting and did the most I could have ever hoped to get with Luke and the overall narrative of the story. And the moment of his death was just beautiful, mirroring his first appearance and his hopeful gaze to the future at the two suns - then for himself, now for the people succeeding him. His victory over Kylo was absolute, he foiled his nephew's plans to kill the remainders of the Resistance while also not laying a hand on him. And his character arc in the movie is incredible, going from a man broken by a mistake he made, to a man finding hope again and giving everything to make that hope come true. And his characterization as a powerful force for good that is still prone to moments of outbursts of fear and anger is completely consistent with the original movies - just think of the moment when his father threatens to claim Leia for the dark side. Luke completely lost it and almost killed his father - when he only ever went willingly to that place to make Vader see the light. This movie is great at showing that even small moments and mistakes can have consequences that ripple through the galaxy. And yet, learning from mistakes is at the core of the movie - everybody does them to some degree, be it trusting the wrong people, not trusting the right people or simply having a slip of judgement and into despair. But the hero's learn from them, where the villains get undone instead because they cling to repeating their behavior. Snoke dies because he mistakenly believes to be in perfect control of his student, he dies because he never questions his hubris. Kylo loses because he lets his hatred and fear for Luke completely distract him, he never lets go of his past - even when he claims he wants it to die. His every action is controlled by it, trying to rid himself of its influence. And where he thought killing his father might give him clarity, instead it only plunged him even deeper into this mental turmoil he cannot get out. A turmoil represented physically by his old teacher coming back to taunt him with a question for forgiveness. The movie has a few pacing issues, but other than that, I was absolutely on board for the ride and so absolutely glad I watched it in the midnight premier, so I didn't hear any of the ridiculous takes before seeing it myself. To sum it up in Yoda's words: "The greatest teacher, failure is."
Fun fact: Actor who played Phasma is Gwendolyn Christie aka Brienne of Tarth. On a side note, I didn't like this movie as a star wars story since it didn't abide with a lot of rules set by previous movies but Im a huge rian johnson fan. I understood what he's trying to achieve with no plan from lucasfilm to end the trilogy he did his best with what he got. Ps: Check out his earlier works Brick and Looper with Joseph Gordon Levitt as the lead. And of course his latest whodunnit crime masterpiece Knives Out. All highly recommended
When I first saw this movie the thing I hated the most was 'martini glasses!'. It became a small symbol for how RJ took us Star Wars fans in a way away from the Star Wars Universe we loved. But overall the more times I've seen the movie I hate it less. It has a lot of good moments.
You have a refreshing perspective in your reactions. So many reactors have the exact same opinion as me on so many movies. But you always are so surprising in how you view the movies you watch. It’s why I love this channel. I never know what to expect. Personally after enjoying 7, I came out of the theater with my friends and we all at the same time were like “woah, does Star Wars suck now?” I mean I like Rey and kylo ren but everything else was bad. I’m about to watch your ep 9 reaction. Let’s see if you can be the one person on the planet who likes that movie.
I still think it's a bad film.... but I'm glad that you enjoyed it. The entire film if you think about it is just a chase between the first order and the resistance. Meanwhile Rey had time to train, and go try to kill Snoke, so either it was a long boring chase, or she was already a jedi master. Also Rose saving Finn... I didn't mind that at first, but looking at his character, a death would have mean so much more for the story. I admit defeat in trying to like this movie ;). I could see in your eyes you enjoyed this film so that was a shocker... Overall it's good that some people liked it.Nice video!
I was curious about your opinions of the casino subplot. I felt it was not needed and drags the movie and really does not make sense plot wise. I have such strong mixed feelings about this movie!
The casino subplot was building up to Fin, Poe, and Rose's failure. A lesson that sometimes taking things into your own hands is not wise and that the risk is not always worth the reward. A lesson Poe desperately needed to learn after getting the whole bomb squadron (including Rose's sister) killed in taking out merely 1 of possibly dozens of Dreadnaughts.
@@CritStanley Your comment doesn't really explain why the casino was relevant. Poe wasn't on the trip to the casino, and it doesn't affect his story at all.
“Luke has depression.” You are the internet champion. The glamor of being a Jedi Knight does not overshadow the amount of fighting he has had to do with his own family.
Despite your uploading frustrations, you managed to enjoy the film. Good for you. Each episode has some merit but this installment, in particular, created quite a stir. The next movie tries to undo many of the novel concepts introduced in this film making "The Last Jedi" somewhat pointless with lots of unresolved issues and dangling plot threads. The reason for this is that Kathleen Kennedy felt giving each director free rein would create three distinctive films. Well, Rian Johnson crafted a film that defied expectations! His sensibility might have worked for a standalone film. However, the Star Wars trilogies aren't anthologies but a saga that requires a unifying vision. When fans reacted negatively, Kennedy scrambled to appease the base by returning to old tropes for the finale and re-using J.J. Abrams. Without a solid plan, they didn't have the conviction to chart a bold new direction so they re-heated leftovers for Rise of Skywalker. Most divisive elements: Luke's cynicism. Leia's unprecedented power set. Holdo's command decisions (and stupid purple hair). Finn's tangential sub-plot. Buffoonish First Order and awkward humor. Rey's parentage. That said, there are amazing moments in this film. The tension between Rey and Kylo Ren is what gives these movies power. I love how they tangibly interact with artifacts in each other's environment! Holdo's lightspeed sacrifice was heroic and cataclysmically effective! That back-to-back duel with Snoke's guardsmen was incredible! The desperate defense of the Rebel base on that salt-encrusted planet that left red tracks in the surface was awesome! The concept of war profiteers benefitting from endless conflict was intriguing. Luke's return to action and duel with Kylo were epic! Luke's death mirroring his youthful yearning on Tatooine was poetic and poignant! You already self-corrected about the telekinesis being astral projection and the next title misleading you into believing Luke survived. They establish earlier that force projection over interstellar distances is so strenuous that the effort is lethal to the practitioner when Kylo expresses disbelief at Rey's ability to contact him without consequence to herself. The plan at Lucasfilm is to relegate this trilogy to an alternate timeline and make a new sequel trilogy more in keeping with Lucas' original intention. Dave Filoni of Clone Wars/Rebels and Jon Favreau of The Mandalorian will be heavily involved. They really should just mine the established Expanded Universe material which is excellent.
i feel like there is no flow in storytelling in the disney star wars trilogy, like episodes 7, 8, and 9 don't really connect with each other as act 1, 2 and 3 of an overarching narrative.
9 is like they threw everything they set up in 2 movies away, it's just so bad. I enjoyed every movie, some more, some less but somehow 9 is just a no for me. They gave us most of things we wanted but I think it's the way they did it that was so stupid idk really know, just doesnt feel good to me.
I think you're right, but just for episode IX. This trilogy feels more like 2+1 rather than 3 as it should be, and it breaks my heart since I'm one of the few people who actually enjoyed the sequel trilogy and especially its characters. I find the themes and many narrative choices bold and daring and I believe that if they kept the same vibes in ep IX it would have come off wonderfully. But they just ruined everything. So... sadly, overall, I have to agree with you.
If it makes you feel any better, it is theorized that Han Solo sacrificed himself to get his son off the hook with Snoke (who instructed him to kill Han to cement his transition to the Dark Side - or whatever the ultimatum was, which Ben was struggling with). Maybe I heard it wrong, maybe that's not right and I am way off the mark, but Han sacrificing himself to save his son from Snoke's wrath AND the Dark Side sounded like a plausible theory.
I personally didn't like this film, but if you like it that's great I respect everyone's opinion weather they be Last Jedi supporters or Last Jedi dislikers.
Glad you enjoyed it. Interesting to me that you enjoyed this a lot more than 7. It was refreshing to see a SW movie that kept you guessing and pushed boundaries with the characters. TFA is a competently made movie but unfortunately it feels like too much like a reboot.
I too find this movie refreshing. I think its a great sequel to The Force Awakens,...do wish they had spent a little more time in the editing room though.
Since the sequel movies came out on DVD and Blu-ray, I have watched all the Star Wars movies again. This is one of my favorites. I know it got a lot of hate when it came out and it's still has a lot of hate today, but I have this feeling that the next generation of Star Wars fans are going to really like it.
In the original story.. Luke supposed to become sage just like Obi and Yoda.. doing old man weird behaviour.. he tired with the war.. met his twin granchildren which change into Rey and Kylo.. be their mentor.. JEDI basically 'magic swordsman'.. if a person can use FORCE.. JEDI just one of it..
Honestly the thing I hated most about this movie was how Finn and Rose got sent on a pointless quest essentially to get them out of the way while the First Order and the Resistance had a slow speed chase in space that made no sense whatsoever! Everything with Luke, Rey, and Kylo was engaging and entertaining. I didn't love that Luke wasn't really training Rey but their interactions were still dynamic enough to forgive that lost expectation.
This is the only Disney Star Wars movie that I respect. It has a lot of problems and disapointments, but it at least dares to take the series into new places and themes. In this regard, it is similar to the prequel trilogy. Those films weren't all that great either, but they were daring. With the prequels, George Lucas didn't tell the stories that he thought the audience would most want to see, but rather the stories that HE wanted to TELL. And it's the same thing with Ryan Johnson and The Last Jedi. Maybe not a GOOD movie exactly, but a movie born out of creativity. This stands in sharp contrast to J J Abrams two movies, which seem enginered to just be as predictable, inoffensive and broad as possible. I never got the impression form Abrams movies that he wanted to tell his own stories, just that he wanted to ape the stories that Lucas already told decades ago because those are what are audinces are already familiar with and are thus bound to make the Disney overlords a lot of cash.
While it has big flaws, this movie corrected so many of the mistakes in Ep. 7. It’s the only one of the new trilogy I think is worth owning and rewatching, and to me it feels like real Star Wars in a way that 7 and 9 never do. The ideas are bold, and they engage thoughtfully and forcefully with Star Wars’ past. Sometimes it’s over-ambitious and doesn’t quite make everything work, and sometimes it pulls its punches. But Ep. 8’s strengths are stronger than all of 7 and 9’s combined.
7 was a copy of 4 but it had potential because of Snoke, the Knights of Ren, Kylo Ren, Luke, Finn and Rey. At that point the characters were still interesting. Then 8 came and threw all that potential in the trash. And finally 9 destroyed everything that 8 has set up and created another bad movie with more plotholes and ridiculous sh*t than the last jedis plot. This is how it really happened. The last jedi did not make the sequels any better. It led to the sequels downfall and the rise of Skywalker totally destroyed the little spark of hope to get a good story.
I too believe that episode VIII is the best of the sequel trilogy, although I don't think that episode 7 is that bad. The really bad one, even worst of episode I, is episode IX. Truly the greatest delusion of all.
Ryans Channel That’s fine, you can disagree. For me, Ep. 8 was hampered mostly by having to use the weak foundation built by 7 and by not knowing what would come in 9. The whole trilogy should have been planned out carefully in advance. But 8 remains the only one that genuinely thrills and delights me, and also gives me deeper ideas to ponder about key elements of Star Wars. It ain’t perfect, but I think its strengths are stronger than all of 7 and 9’s strengths.
Rey's parents were supposed to be nobodies. That was the entire idea. Anyone can be a hero. Not just the prophesied biblical messiah (Anakin), not just the children of legends who inherit a legacy of greatness (Luke & Leia). Even the nobodies (Rey) can be heroes. But then JJ Abrams happened, and he needed nostalgia because he's not creative enough to do a story with that
She may not have had any formal training with a lightsaber except for what she got with Luke in this movie. But she was already a skilled combatant, and we saw that in the last movie. There's some room for believability there because this is a fantasy. Even though it doesn't work perfectly.
Exactly. They had a chance to explain it after 7, but this movie cemented it. She's a full on Mary Sue. No growth, no struggle. She beats everyone every time.
@@godlessveteran2431 I mean.... she didn't beat Snoke. :P She only 'beat' Luke because she pulled a lightsaber on his solid melee weapon (after he disarmed her of hers.) But if you want a few examples of Rey failing, then there's the obvious one of her not successfully bringing Luke back to the Resistance (that was yoda). She didn't see the trap that was laid for her by Snoke. And she didn't realize Ben was going to turn good instead of overthrowing Snoke and trying to get her to turn evil and ended up breaking Luke and Anakin's lightsaber. You know, to name some.
Did you recognize the actress who played captain phasma? the leader of the storm troopers? the one that fights with Finn?.. is Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of tarth in game of thrones)
For me, I was crushed when Rian Johnson killed Luke. I waited 33 years for my childhood hero to be on screen again, and I got 2 minutes in Episode 7 at the end of the movie with no dialogue, and a portrayal that I hated in episode 8....then they killed him off. Needless to say TLJ is very low on my list of Star Wars movies.
Pretty sure Mark Hamill himself didn't like how Luke was handled in this film. I am however one if the few that liked it. Is it entertaining? Yes. Is it on par with other Star Wars movies? No. It's the "Jar Jar" of SW films.
@@Swenglish Why dont people get this. Luke, Obi, Yoda, Anakin. None of them are dead. Its like if you knew for certain your parent went to heaven would you really be crushed by their death. No. We all know Luke faded into and is one with the Force. Why wouldnt we want to see how that happened?
Wait what?? 🤣 Scribbly, there was plenty of failure! Poe got a whole bomber squadron killed just to take out ONE cruiser. Finn and Rose didn’t get the codebreaker they set out for. New codebreaker sells them to the First order and the plan to escape fails. Said last failure in turn causes Holdo’s plan to be compromised, leading to even more deaths. Rey fails to bring Luke back. (Yoda brought Luke back) Which leads Rey to fail in bringing Ben back. And getting mind probed by Snoke. Finn almost pulls an early movie Poe, where he nearly commits suicide thinking it'll do more help than it actually would. And finally, Ben fails to learn anything in the final scenes while everyone else does learn from their failures. Is all that what you consider success???
Except that message is botched because Rey never fails and never grows. No, seriously, what about Rey has changed by the end of Rise of Skywalker from TFA? She’s still alone on a desert planet: the only new things she has are “stuff”, which doesn’t count as character growth. Also this movie just stews in how much of a failure everyone is and begs you to give a damn. You know, a lot like Chris Avellone’s Knights of the Old Republic 2. Which is why I laugh whenever people say that TLJ was “something new.”
@@OneTrueVikingbard Of course she does. She illustrates the main theme more than any of the others. Her perception of Luke when they first met was completely off. She needed stories and visions to try and make sense of things. She was even wrong when she believed Ben would turn to the light side. They reached an impasse instead. It ends with her much more leery about what she perceives the truth to be.
Are we ignoring the fact that Luke is essentially a Gary Stu in episodes 4 and 5. No combat experience to speak of at all and yet he holds his own against Darth Freaking Vader! Sure he loses in the end, but he still lasted longer than anyone should have with the amount of training he had.
Soooooo glad you liked this one! Some people only want explosions and battles in their Star Wars, but when a film takes the time to make these characters who are old and new, ordinary and legendary, feel like real living beings with flaws who grapple with legacy and identity, good and evil... it becomes so much more. Truly a deep, beautifully made, perfectly meta film that questions everything Star Wars stands for, and comes out with a better understanding and appreciation for it all in the end.
i just want to make 1 point very clear. i did not think luke ACTUALLY died because of the title of the 9th film (i believed it referred to him). when he fell/went invisible, i thought he just passed out & astral projected again, from using a high amount of force energy.. once i found out... i was actually very very sad. *if you're after UNCUT for both ep 7,8 & 9 it's available on* www.patreon.com/marycherryofficial ++ i want to thank everyone that helped me reach 25k on YT. love you all
It was actually foreshadowed when Rey and Kylo first force skyped. He told her “You’re not doing this, the effort would kill you.”

Saw the video.
Mary: "Its now time for Luke to restart the Jedi"
Luke: Nah imma die

Lemme just die real quick.

xmeany It seemed like the perfect way to end his story. And Kylo did say to Rey earlier in the film that force projecting would kill her.
The detail of the fight scene, which has Kylo's footprints but not Luke's, is wonderful
Because of some of these details, this film has actually grown on me.

Remember when Kylo said Rey can’t be doing that force trick from that distance, that the strain would kill her? This is what happened with Luke
Yes, it was dumb. The whole movie is just stupid.
But didn't to Snoke?

And there was a prophecy about him
And to this day, it still remains a truly divisive film.
The throne room scene between Kylo and Rey is my favorite from this movie. I liked the way Kylo said that she was nothing but not to me...not necessarily the sentiment but the acting from Adam Driver is great. I've liked him in everything I've seen him in.
Exactly. Say what you will about the sequels but Adam Driver is one hell of an actor
Adam driver is the saving grace of the sequels, fantastic actor.
He really did a great job. I don't think anybody would've done better than him with the role.

There's a ton that makes absolutely no sense in this movie.

and that's just the start.
The ATATs just missed. It's not that complicated.
The reasoning that I have for Rey being such a good fighter is that she has pretty much lived on her own since she was a small child. She would have to learn to defend herself in order to survive. Of course being so strong in the Force would help with your reflexes.
She's not Luke. Luke was a farmer boy but he had an easy life compared to Rey. She had to fight for her survival since she was young
@Stonecoldku Yes she trained to fight and defend herself... with a bo-staff. Which is very different from a sword. Being strong with the force can be a good thing and it would help with the reflexes once you know how to use the force. Im not trying to attack you or anything just trying to give my opinion.
@@levinabear5234 No, it's okay. I don't feel attacked. Thanks for your opinion.
Rey grew up by herself and taught herself how to fight with her staff, maybe against raiders or something and she applied that experience to her saber
Kerry Collier don’t bring common sense and logic into this argument: it will only scare the sequel defenders.
Kerry Collier Her abilities are explained in TROS...
*Kylo Slashes Luke with a saber with the intent to kill him*
Luke: [Ha Ha, you thought you killed me? Nah I’m just so strong in the force that I am using it to project myself. You didn’t kill me] “See you around kid.”
Luke: *Dies anyways*
Kylo: “NOOOOOOO!”
Exactly why Episode I is a better film than IX.
Yeah but her granddad tho...
Agreed. The ending of IX would be so much more effective if 'the force' rallied around a 'nobody'.
@@bradhamilton8542 Ok but The Phantom Menace felt NOTHING like the Original Trilogy and I still loved it.

It wasn't even that impressive. It's hard to scale how difficult that technique is when no one else has really used it.
This! As a standalone movie? Sure, it's really good. But as a sequel? Debattable.
100% percent. The issue with this movie is that it doesn't exist in a vacuum. It's part of a larger story and it doesn't fit into that larger story at all.
One of the reasons ppl hate these sequels is what you say in your 1st line "She is a surprisingly good fighter for having no training".

BUT: The themes this movie tries to tackle
- Dark and Light side not being absolutes - the hinting of grey force users (even Yoda said, that it was time for the Jedi as a strict creed to end)
- Rey coming from "nothing" was the best idea in this movie - what better message to send young fans that you don't have to be "born" into powerful families in order to change something?
- Luke's story and redemption that ends with the final stand that perfectly encompasses what the Jedi stood for: A compassionate, selfless, and peaceful sacrifice in order to protect others. He even showed compassion to Kylo Ren and apologized for failing him.
I hope Rian Johnson gets his own trilogy - giving him the chance to tell a story that deals with maybe some of the more complex themes surrounding force users would be amazing!
Hard to find people that actually enjoyed TLJ like ourselves, it has its flaws, but Rian nailed the Luke/Ben storyline.
Star Wars is Good vs Evil. Shades of Gray does not fit in this series. That's not what it is about.
@@godlessveteran2431 Grey have always existed. Grey have been cannon since long before this trilogy
Thanks so much for all the work you've put in for us to be able to see your reaction! I'm really enjoying them 😁
I'm SOOOOO glad you liked this more than TFA.
In any case, I'm glad you enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to seeing your reaction to the last one!
cuts out entire casino part lmao
I have some issues with this movie, I don't love every decision, but over all I think it's the best of the Sequel Trilogy and Luke's confrontation with Kylo is one of the all time stand out moments. Luke Skywalker saves the Rebellion by standing up to the might of the First Order and Kylo Ren without harming a single person, without violence. That's the truest expression of Jedi philosophy we've seen in any of the movies.

5:28 I love how you said that, haha, i think they were appart like 2 days at max! 😂😂
Rip our Princess Leia :Carrie fisher her final physical appearance in Star Wars was some saddest watching as a fan
Rey has knowledge and practice using a staff which is similar to a lightsaber moreover Kylo Ren was injured and bleeding out if LeBron James was shot then yes a girl who never played basketball before could be better than him
@@ReySkywalker2 Nah she is still a bad written character i dont care bout her at all if she died in the movie i would not even care
It's my favorite.
Yet, the critical scene was when we are told that Luke was using force-projecting,I really thought Rian Johnson is a genius, cause the way he handled this scene was so clever, the reason is , we all know Mark Hamill is keen on filming StarWars so he will undoubtedly be in episode9, so the best way is let Luke show some tricks to defeat the first order in episode 8 and then let him have a serious and exciting duel with his enemy(then he may die in honor)
And then!
"They both have equal amount of power?" The Rise of Skywalker answers your question.
5:40 - exactly the reaction I hoped for. :)
Luke actually trained Leia in the ways of the Jedi. its just not in the movies.
I'm so glad you liked it. TLJ is easily my favorite Star Wars movie.
I got it at the top of the sequel trilogy
"Kylo can't turn back after killing Han Solo"
But didn't Anikin turn back after killing all those younglings... and however many thousand other people after turning to the dark side??
This movie got too much hate. Yeah, it's flawed, but it's so well done for the story given (don't mind me, currently binging because these reactions make me SO HAPPY 😂)
"We know that she's a skywalker" .....................
I'm no Star Wars 'historian' and fact-checker, but when I watched this film, I was highly entertained. The force seems to be in good hands with Rey. Luke is a legend, but he needed to pass on the lightsaber....
@Mr. Al Knights of the old Republic, Jedi Outcast and Mysteries of Sith want to have a word with you. Rest of what you told just bullshit.
Love your reaction to finding out about Luke's force projection. 😃
So tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/EvilCannotComprehendGood
I’m glad you’re enjoying yourself :)
"I enjoyed this movie far more than episode 7" SO I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE! I THOUGHT EPISODE 7 WAS THE WEAKEST DUE TO IT SIMPLY BEING EPISODE 4 v2!
Same here
Mark Hamill improvised kissing Leia on her forehead, and now that Carrie Fisher is gone, that part always breaks my heart. It's Luke saying goodbye to his sister, but it is also like we are saying goodbye to Carrie.
But then again, no one is every really gone.
Yo, you gotta edit “pissing” to “kissing” 🤣
,...and deprive everyone else of a good laugh? Please, don't change it!
That would have been a golden moment.
@@rickardroach9075 Certainly would've made a splash with audiences...
Fuck! Edited. Lol
I guess I should clarify that this is my opinion and I understand how people could think otherwise ! Other opinions are cool and welcome
Finally someone else doesn't completely hate this movie! I thought VIII was great.
I love it actually the only thing I hate is the Holdo stuff but other than that this is my favorite of the sequel trilogy
They really did Finn dirty in this film
They did everyone dirty in the trilogy except rey shes perfect
They really did Star Wars dirty in this trilogy.
Hello...LUKE.
Heh heh racist joke
What I like about The Last Jedi is that it takes everyone's expectations and throws them out the window.
What I don't like about it is that, as the penultimate episode, RJ should NOT have twisted everything upside-down and inside-out. It would be fine if the saga continued after Episode 9, but with just 1 film remaining, he should have taken a safer route.
Nice reaction as usual Mary! That scene where Holdo warp sped Snoke's ship was something to see - the silence further strengthened that WTF effect - anyway, as usual, onto the next one! Much love from the Philippines!
Snokes over confidence was his weakness.
YES!!! He had power, but he didn't have discipline. That's why he didn't sense Ren's betrayel. He was too confident and didnt' bother to look deeper than the surface of Ren's mind.
It seems to be a habit for Sith and dark side users to die by their hubris
Snokes bad writing was he's downfall.
Episode 4 had basic plastic cups, so?
“Luke has depression.”
You are the internet champion. The glamor of being a Jedi Knight does not overshadow the amount of fighting he has had to do with his own family.
Episode VIII is Mark's film.
Most divisive elements:
Luke's cynicism.
I didn't know that last part. That's interesting. We'll be watching this trilogy's career with great interest.
i feel like there is no flow in storytelling in the disney star wars trilogy, like episodes 7, 8, and 9 don't really connect with each other as act 1, 2 and 3 of an overarching narrative.
Yea, because they do not flow. After all, thy didn't even know Rey's heritage until the last minute but most of the plot was based on "who is rey"?
@Some Guy 99. I agree 7 and 8 flowed better together than 9 did with the rest.
7-8 felt connected. 8-9? hell no
9 is like they threw everything they set up in 2 movies away, it's just so bad.
Ok
Who said that that the title was "Rise of Luke skywalker"?
Please do a reaction to Robin Hood prince of Thieves with Kevin Costner
If it makes you feel any better, it is theorized that Han Solo sacrificed himself to get his son off the hook with Snoke (who instructed him to kill Han to cement his transition to the Dark Side - or whatever the ultimatum was, which Ben was struggling with). Maybe I heard it wrong, maybe that's not right and I am way off the mark, but Han sacrificing himself to save his son from Snoke's wrath AND the Dark Side sounded like a plausible theory.
This was my favorite out of the three new movies. I wish Rian Johnson did the whole trilogy.
I personally didn't like this film, but if you like it that's great I respect everyone's opinion weather they be Last Jedi supporters or Last Jedi dislikers.
Everyone listen to this person please (Speaking as a Last Jedi disliker)
Glad you enjoyed it. Interesting to me that you enjoyed this a lot more than 7. It was refreshing to see a SW movie that kept you guessing and pushed boundaries with the characters. TFA is a competently made movie but unfortunately it feels like too much like a reboot.
Ryans Channel
Cool
I too find this movie refreshing. I think its a great sequel to The Force Awakens,...do wish they had spent a little more time in the editing room though.
Since the sequel movies came out on DVD and Blu-ray, I have watched all the Star Wars movies again. This is one of my favorites. I know it got a lot of hate when it came out and it's still has a lot of hate today, but I have this feeling that the next generation of Star Wars fans are going to really like it.
7 was my fav of the three
In the original story..
I'm gonna be honest I really didn't like this film
I have already rewatch all three of the new trilogy, still hate. 8 is the worst of all.
@@PrinceofArfon what mistakes of 7 it corrected? I actually agree that 7 is THE WEAKEST FOUNDATION, even weaker than TPM
But then JJ Abrams happened, and he needed nostalgia because he's not creative enough to do a story with that
Dark magic.. Hmm.. Wait till episode nine 😏
She may not have had any formal training with a lightsaber except for what she got with Luke in this movie. But she was already a skilled combatant, and we saw that in the last movie. There's some room for believability there because this is a fantasy. Even though it doesn't work perfectly.
how did she get those combat skills though?
That only goes so far against someone that is actually trained in the force and with a lightsaber. Sorry, she should have gotten owned.
Iko Andreas The answer is revealed in episode 9
Kerry Collier Did you actually finish the Skywalker Saga??
Ron Millisor nope it isnt.
You said it ununderstandably talented at language, fighting using the force and everything. Marysue
Christopher Stanley that’s extremely weak and you know it. She’s a horrible character.
Rey did not have years of experienced. Episode 7 and 8 takes place within 1-2 hours of each other
This is where the fun begins
Did you recognize the actress who played captain phasma? the leader of the storm troopers? the one that fights with Finn?.. is Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of tarth in game of thrones)
For me, I was crushed when Rian Johnson killed Luke. I waited 33 years for my childhood hero to be on screen again, and I got 2 minutes in Episode 7 at the end of the movie with no dialogue, and a portrayal that I hated in episode 8....then they killed him off. Needless to say TLJ is very low on my list of Star Wars movies.
yeah. i was in denial clearly that they actually kill him off especially after such small screen time in ep 7 + the title of ep9 mislead me.
Pretty sure Mark Hamill himself didn't like how Luke was handled in this film.
I am however one if the few that liked it.
Is it entertaining? Yes.
Is it on par with other Star Wars movies? No. It's the "Jar Jar" of SW films.
Totally empathise with you buddy - same with me - I do not acknowledge the Disney SW output as canon, except Rogue One
He's not dead. He's more powerful than you could possibly imagine. He became one with the force. That's not the same as death.
Good movie about failing and learning from failure to grow stronger.
(Yoda brought Luke back)
Which leads Rey to fail in bringing Ben back.
Rey being an amazing fighter with no training =Kathleen Kennedy 🤣
Lets just ignore the fact that she grew up on a fight or die planet. :P
@@CritStanley Let's indeed. Scavenging and occasionally holding up smaller aliens does NOT equal swordmanship, NOR does her connection to the force.
Mary Sue.
Awesome at everything, no flaws.
Yawn.
@@Metalman-xf4ve Are you stupid? Vader was only fighting with one hand and didn't want to kill Like. Re-watch the fucking movie.
