This is a great way to learn about history, but I'd encourage you to talk to the people you meet who were alive back then. All a show like this can do is go over the facts. People who lived those events can give context and a sense of the importance of those facts. Right now we still have the opportunity to learn from people who were actually there. I used to think it was weird that my mom was alive and active in such historical events, but now I realize that at age 57, I lived through and remember events that to me were just part of growing up, but to others were part of history. Now I understand the value of elders in our knowledge of history. Facts are facts, but what was it like to live through the early Cold War, to have a dad who was part of WWII? There are still a lot of real people alive who can share those stories, and they are invaluable.

After reading a lot of RUclips comments plus life experience...it is normal to be jealous of teens of earlier generations. My husband and I were born 1971&1972. Our generation was jealous of late 1960's teens because of Woodstock, and all of that seemed really cool. The catch is that we focus on the cool stuff the earlier generations had with no attention paid to the bad things that happen to every generation. I remember people being miserable in the 70s. There was disillusionment after gas shortages ( the cars were gas guzzlers), we didn't win Vietnam, JFK had been killed, Nixon was a criminal, finances were poor. My parents paid 17%APR on their house purchased in 1975.

I was having dinner in a local restaurant about 7 years ago, and I noticed Franco sitting nearby. I couldn't believe how many people went up to his table pestering him while he was trying to eat. They were still talking about the immaculate reception! ☺ 🏈 🤗
@@kmstins Good God! Let the guy eat!
That is pretty cool that You dined so close to a living NFL Legend ... and respected his privacy. Kudos to You!
PS: In re: The Immaculate Reception: I'd bet You $10 that, if Terry Bradshaw were there, he would have told You that he drew the play up exactly that way. Bradshaw's a funny guy. And, Franco Harris ... He was a rookie when he made that catch ... and Touchdown That was his 1st year in the NFL. He was still a kid within the pro ranks! And he was GOOD! ... One of my idols. Do recall that I'd mentioned last time that I was a Running Back back in the day. Quite a coincidence, this event coming up on WH! Seems We've got the Jungian Synchronicity thing going here.
Anyway, Thanks for the Note! Very nice anecdote! Pleasure to read.
... 'til next time, ... 👍👍👍
@@tdesq.2463 Thank you for such a nice reply! Yes I do recall you being a small Running Back and getting your bell rung a few times. 😉 😄 I can't believe you mentioned Terry Bradshaw. I was in a Stop 'n Go one night back in 1978, and Terry Bradshaw, Mean Joe Greene, and L.C. Greenwood walked in. I was kind of like a deer in headlights and didn't know what to say, so I just smiled. They said "hello" and I replied with a simple "Hi". ☺ I can't believe I acted like that. Oh well. It's still one of my fond memories. 👍 Wishing you a great day TD! 🙂
@@kmstins That's AWESOME!!! Like You ran straight into the Steel Curtain, there.
Mean Joe Greene ... #75, as I recall. That guy was Huge!
As for me: Yes. Correct. I was a li'l guy. And yes, I did get my bell rung a few times. But, as my Father would say: "You'll live" or "It's good for you. Builds character." He was right.
Thanks Again for the Friendly Note!
Have a Super Day!

I really enjoy these timeline videos. Three more years you will be at the year I was born can't wait to see it.
RIP Olivia Newton-John ❤ 🕊
I can't believe 50 years have passed in the blink of an eye...
I was 18 years old and as wild as they come...
I’m 41 now born in 81. The long way we’ve come huh?
I was born in the late 90s, but I’m a child of the 70s at heart. What a great time to be alive, I’m envious of all of you who are!
I love these timeliness upgrade on my History lessons....very very interesting and informative 👍 👌 👏 😀 love you guys...
I slept in for once... first thing I did... check Weird History for 72 timeline! Thanks for doin what you do! Great vid once again!
Maude is one of my all time favorite TV shows, even if it started airing 20 years before I was born. I can watch Maude any time and never get bored! Bea Arthur was a really good actress.
August 26. My parents were married ‼️ happy 50th wedding anniversary to them this year! 🥂👏
Wow it's really been 50 YEARS since I was 17. Unbelievable.
On September 4 of that year, CBS added a new game show to their daytime lineup, "The New Price is Right". They picked "Truth or Consequences" host Bob Barker to do this show. I wonder whatever became of this show? 😁
The world will never know.......
1972 was another country.
A mythical country where youth is eternal and it's always bright.
Some of us have been there.
None one can ever return.
Another Amazing WEIRD HISTORY VID ☺️
What I would like to bring back from the 70s.... My youth!
Im going to leave a like before watching because I usually watch these with a really good meal. Thank you for another upload guys
Timeline is y favourite channel, i watch it over and over again thank you for the memory 👍
1972: The year of Sanford and Son, The Godfather, and the beginning of the Oakland A's mini-dynasty.
Truly the best decade I was ever born in.
Agreed. If I had a time machine…it would be set for 1970
Same
Really? What about all the other decades your were born in?
Yes! Thank you so much for continuing the 70s era! Cant wait for the 73’ video to come up
Thanks for the memories.
----TIMELINE ROCKS---
Awesome video, my mother watched it with me too.
This video series is so legendary.
Neil Young is a good artist
The year I was born. Thank you so much for this!
@weirdhistory will you please add a little “HBD to Brett! 🎉” on April 9th in your 1976 video? Brett (my husband) is my favorite thing about the ‘70s 😊 We love your Timeline series and are always excited for the next years to come! TY! 💜
Seeing Burt Reynolds on the thumbnail reminds me of my cousin, who was a dead ringer for Burt in the 70s. I was a lot younger than my cousin, and I always loved going places with him. Someone would say, hey there's Burt Reynolds! And we attracted a lot of chicks. He looked EXACTLY like him.
I love these series!! Great work!
In the last couple of years I've become a huge fan of weird history, But I love these timeline videos you do. I'm already looking forward to the sixties.✌️
I love these timeline videos
A+ video!
LOVE IT! What a year!
---TIMELINE ROCKS---
Plenty of good tunes were released in 1973! Excited for the next year FOR SURE
Love the way you incorporated the commercials! 👍🏻👍🏻
Damn your 23 hours tease haha, looking forward to it tomorrow
I thought the same thing lol
lmao same!
Looking forward to more videos on the 1960s Vietnam War era. Waiting for!
⏰
I was conceived and born in 1972. I don't remember any of it, of course but I appreciate seeing this time capsule of my birth year.
Be thankful that you don't remember the being conceived part.😅
Saw the Fanny music vid clip in the opening montage, and the Harry Nillson mini clip, nice!
Timeline is awesome
Another brilliant episode! Can't wait for the next one.
You guys are by far my favorite RUclips channel ❤
@2:08 Shoichi Yokoi didn't just give up when locals found him, they had to bring top Japanese officials that served at the same time He did To help coax him out because he did not believe that Japan lost to America and the war was over he believed that it was a ploy to get him Out of the jungle to kill him..
Born in '79, I completely appreciate the 70s.
The year I was born!! Hard to believe 1972 was 50 years ago - I’m getting old!
Love this series, nostalgia is great even though a lot of it is U.S specific.. any plans to do a U.K version?
I agree, I'm an American and though I like to see events in American history before my time I would love to see events from other parts of the world as well. I was disappointed with their 1970 vid when they didn't even mentioned the legendary 1970 world cup in Mexico (game of the century, and Pele's last).
Another great video, @Weird History ! I've been a fan since you started this series. However, I warn you! I will be sorely disappointed in you if the invention of the Dungeons & Dragons game isn't mentioned, at least in passing, for your 1974 video. 😁🗡🐉
You'll like '74 then
If you guys need a mic drop for 1974, Rush's first album released in March.
🤠🤘
If they need one for 1973, Dark Side of the Moon 🤘
