- 9 months after the beef of 2024, I did not envision ACTUAL lawsuits being filed. And it is maybe the lamest thing a mainstream rapper has done in years.

But I don’t understand why he is suing UMG for defamation. On the heart part 6 ,didn’t he say he feed Kendrick with the information?and that he was expecting k.dot to come with pdf angle? So why would you sue for defamation if you feed and expected to be called that?
Everyone is skipping over this part. Drake basically DARED Kendrick to speak on it. He can't be mad now that Kendrick not only did it, he did it with savage swagger.
Lawbrey is desperate to turn his life-altering L into any kind of win but he knows he can’t sue Kendrick directly since Kendrick can countersue AND add in Whitney and Dave Free to the countersuit and Lawbrey would lose, so UMG is the next best target, I guess.
Because if he tried to sue Kendrick, it open up the entire beef that includes the heart part 6 (the SHIT one). Of which, Drake himself admits to deliberately give Kendrick the information.
That case would be thrown out faster than his credibility in hip hop the moment that shite ass song dropped.

I’m concerned that people who report on this Drake lawsuit situation are dismissing or forgetting that it was Drake who first initiated this beef with Kendrick and the first to go negative, attacking his partner Whitney. Three of the four Drake diss songs attack Whitney Alford and no one seems to care. As a woman this is a major injustice. People need to stop making Drake into a victim while Kendrick is the big, bad villain. Kendrick moved in silence. Not on the socials. Not running his mouth in interviews. Not dropping millions of videos and flooding the streams with hundreds of songs. He has moved quietly for the most part. And yet, Drake is made to be this victim, continuing to antagonize and bait people. When will it end? Will The Culture hold Drake accountable and stop coddling this guy?

Dear UMG, by Drake mentioning that Kendrick should call him a PDF in his dumb A.I song, his reputation was ALREADY out in the culture as being a PDF. Drake KNOWS that has been a ding on his character before he engaged in the rap beef of the century!!!!
Just want to point out that the claim about the effect of UMG whitelisting the track is only half-accurate. Yes, whitelisting meant creators could monetize their videos, but creators could always react in full to the songs they just wouldn't be able to earn money on those videos. Several creators made this point when the filing first came out.
It's honestly comical how many holes there are in the argument this lawsuit is trying to make. It reads like it was put together by one of the interns while the rest of the firm went out for a long lunch and an afternoon of golf courtesy of all the money they're charging to help Drake continue to embarrass himself.
One more detail - UMG filed to dismiss the petition in Texas, not (yet) the lawsuit in NY. Would love to see you cover that filing as well, it's 1000x more professional and sensible than Drake's tomfoolery, but is SO scathing at the same time. 😂

I find it crazy how people were saying, "I looked up eminem on spotify and not like us popped out" as proof it was being inflated, but like you looked up a big rap artist and the number 1 rap song pops up like yeah that's most definitely proof that it was

It's not odd Drake isn't putting out music. Not only is he dealing with a lawsuit but he's been defeated mentally and isn't in the right head space to drop music. He honestly might never be and it could be the last we hear of any music from Drake. Ngl I won't miss him or his music if he drops off the face of the earth. Also 5:30 That line could be interpreted as him saying the people won't even want Drake in Oakland anymore after this to perform. I interpreted it this way and I'm sure most people did.
The funniest thing about this, the first time anything about Drake messing with minors was brought up in this beef came from Drake’s own Taylor Made Freestyle.😂

No one's talking about the fact that Drake's music *is under* UMG, the claim that UMG is sabotaging Drake to offer him less money is so asinine because if Drake makes less money, then UMG makes less money.
