Steve, I am the parent that cried at sound check for this song at your opening tour in St. George. As I explained, I cried because I was missing my brother that just passed in September from complications from COVID. This song reminded me of him, but the way you played it definitely brought a sweet, ethereal sound to it. My brother was a recovering addict & was doing well in his life the past few years. He always attended my daughters performances & had attended the last time you were on tour & she was able to participate. My daughter also wept the first night she left the stage after performing. We both missed him, but above all, felt his presence with us that night. Thank you for this gift. Thank you for the wondrous talent you & John have been blessed with & thank you for sharing it with us. I know many times your music has uplifted me. Thank you again for giving my daughter the opportunity to perform with you guys. We share your common faith and know that the Lord works miracles thru your music! May you be blessed on your tour & may others be blessed by your talents! P.S Awesome cello for this video...one of the 38...Lol! What is this one's name?

I was in my 20s when the original Sweet Child was a hit (I'm a grandmother now :D), and my grown son knows it's one of my all-time favorite songs. When he told me, "Mom, you gotta hear this," I was prepared to be unimpressed. Now I've just finished listening for the third time... It's just beautiful! Truly stunning. I love it! You two are brilliant at what you do.

One of the things I always love is watching musicians play with feeling. Moving with the music, smiling, crying, letting the music's emotions come through you. Watch a singer hit that high note and smile. Steve moving and smiling as he plays. You can't help but feel that emotion right along with them.

    • @HappyOddGirl
      @HappyOddGirl 3 года назад +8

That was what drew me to their music as well - how they play with such depth of feeling. That's what I admire most in musicians. Virtuoso musicians are two-a-penny, but people who play with deep and genuine feeling are very, very rare. And for me, TPG are the best of the best.

The Piano Guys' videos and arrangements are nearly always some of the most beautiful I've ever seen on the internet, both visually and aurally.
Looking at you today Jon and Steven (I know you're far from alone in the team, but you're the personification of it), I realize that I see you as fathers in a way: I have a deep sympathy and empathy for you and I think back to all the wonder you gave me during my adolescence and the influence in terms of inspiration that you had on the young pianist I was, so thank you for these 11 years of human adventure with its laughter and tears, its ups and downs... 🙏
Even if today I no longer share your faith, I'll be forever grateful for the emotions and sonorities, the beauty and joy that you've transmitted to the world at the beginning of this 21st century. 🤗

You guys are amazing and such an inspiration!! I’ve been a fan of yours for around 7 years now and you guys were actually the reason I started playing the cello. Thank you for all that you do, for bringing joy to our lives, and for introducing me to the beauty that music can bring. God bless!!

This song originally came out 3 years after I graduated from high school and I definitely remember that old Guns N Roses version. Now I am in my mid 50’s. I think this is a beautiful rendition of the old song. If you ask me though, every song you guys do is beautiful!!

    Lyrics (for your sing-a-long):
She's got a smile that it seems to me
    Reminds me of childhood memories
Where everything was as fresh as the bright blue sky
Now and then when I see her face
She takes me away to that special place
And if I stare too long, I'd probably break down and cry
    (Chorus)
    Whoa, oh, oh
    Sweet child o' mine
    Whoa, oh, oh, oh
    Sweet love of mine
She's got eyes of the bluest skies
As if they thought of rain
I'd hate to look into those eyes and see an ounce of pain
Her hair reminds me of a warm safe place
Where as a child I'd hide
And pray for the thunder and the rain to quietly pass me by
    Whoa, oh, oh
    Sweet child o' mine
    Whoa whoa, oh, oh, oh
    Sweet love of mine
    Whoa, yeah
    Whoa, oh, oh, oh
    Sweet child o' mine
    Whoa, oh, whoa, oh
    Sweet love of mine
    Whoa, oh, oh, oh
    Sweet child o' mine
    Ooh, yeah
    Ooh, sweet love of mine
(this part might be arranged out of this cover)
Ooh, oh, where do we go?
    Where do we go now?
Oh, where do we go now?
Where do we go? (Sweet child)
    Where do we go now?
Ay, ay, ay, ay, ay, ay, ay, ay
    Where do we go now?
    Ah, ah
    Where do we go?
Oh, where do we go now?
    Oh, where do we go?
Oh, where do we go now?
    Where do we go?
Oh, where do we go now?
Now, now, now, now, now, now, now
    Sweet child
    Sweet child of mine

I was at the concert at the Sydney Opera House yesterday (Matinee performance). You played this one there. For some reason I'd never actually heard this (odd, considering I'm a Piano Guys tragic!), but it brought tears to my eyes. Beautiful work!
The whole concert was AMAZING. Looking forward to your next tour of Australia!

Is that a new cello? Wow! Everything in the video is beautiful. The music, the cello and that place. I wish to visit there one day.
Maybe except for their music, one of the reason I like their videos is that they play on cliffs and beautiful landscapes.

When it comes to this particular song, I’ve always imagined the wedding part of course. Yet the key makes the difference (no pun intended!)! D Major sets it in a bright afternoon. Bump it down a bit to C# Major, like the original, and you’re having the wedding with a sky not blue, but a bright orange. Sunset comes and passes, with the following party going into the night. Eb Major? Maybe for the morning. You might get my point there. Always felt like a warm song, not hot or cold. Hence C# Major.

    • @davidbutler4760
      @davidbutler4760 3 года назад

I like what you’re thinking, but that could make for some interesting notation issues. Specifically since you mention Eb Major and C# Major, but with D that doesn’t always diatonically work without some interesting modulation progression. Maybe if Db Major was used instead it would make it easier to modulate with Eb Major being that scale’s Subtonic (but that’s usually used in minor scales of course) and work Chromatically with D. You could also look at moving around and modulating to A Major as well and look at E Major as a secondary as those scales are quite warm as well and are easier to work with, though it’s the Piano Guys so maybe “easier” isn’t the right word here. At that point it’s just looking at available options, but I would just diatonically change the scale from C# Major to Db Major even though it’s enharmonic with each other, but it would make the notation more smooth. Either way it sounded amazing and I may look to arrange this just for giggles.

I love watching them play and feel their music. Makes me want to play an instrument. I loved this song when it came out in the 80s and hearing this interpretation and version of the same song takes it to a whole different level. Just beautiful. ❤
