✨ *_SUMMARY_* ✨ 1. Get dressed every day, even if you do not have any plans for the day. 2. Put items you want to buy on a wishlist and wait at least 24 hours before buying them. 3. Buy your favourite pieces in different materials to make your outfits more interesting. 4. Pay attention to your footwear. 5. Pay attention to balance and proportions. 6. Take time to take care of yourself. 7. Don't feel pressured to declutter a piece if you are not entirely sure, you can always do that later. 8. Use accessories! 9. Do not hesitate to repeat outfits you love! 10. Make sure you can pay for the items you buy.
I’ve finally stopped buying ‘nearlys’ and ‘great except for’ clothes. You know, jeans that nearly fit, dresses that are great except for the colour. I know my preferences now and I stick to them. There are still too many fabulous choices out there, but thanks to you I’m looking better and buying less.
That whole 'don't let go of things immediately if you don't want to' is SO TRUE. The other day I pulled out this jacket I bought two years ago and never wore and recently it's become my favourite closet item. It genuinely looks so cute! I feel like now I just go through phases of wearing and not wearing things in my closet and it almost feels like they're new items every time, you know?
I've had those moments too, also just storing away clothes that are not for the current and bringing them back out gives me a fresh perspective and excitement because I totally forgot I had them when I wasn't seeing them gathe dust everyday.
As a senior who loves dressing in nice clothes every day, I find your advice excellent. I shop mainly thrift and consignment, which is much cheaper than retail and much more fun too.
Thanks Christina for the advice. I’m a guy & I’ve been watching you for sometime now as it has helped me to be more self aware of my shopping habits. I don’t see many men in the comments section but I believe there is valuable stuff to be taken away even when it comes to learning women’s styling. Lots a guys ignore proportions but women do it really well. For example when I layer, I like to French tuck my shirt for that added layer of dimension which would show where your waist starts.
@@kimberlyperrotis8962I watch lots of men's channel's too, I just enjoy people talk about fashion, and I may have found them when I was looking for how my blazers should fit and Goodyear welted shoes as I was sick of glued together shoes, but everything is useful, I have made direct impact on how my dad dresses and he asks me for my thoughts, he dresses well in the first place so it's extra nice to have information useful enough. Even my brothers ask me too.
I would add: choose fabric and cut over brand. In thrift stores you may find great, original items of good quality that will stay with you for years and build the whole character of your style.
I have found mixing clothes that I normally wouldn’t pair together is a great way to get inspired and play with my wardrobe. I normally would not pair my plaid printed work trousers with other printed clothing items, but I’ve found it to be rather fun and chic to mix several prints to create a maximalism Gucci-esque look instead of just a slightly interesting work look.
Very helpful video. I'm near 70, happily retired since age 62. Before that, I worked from home in the evening hours for the last 16 years of my working life, which I absolutely loved (I did meet up with a few coworkers from time to time but never missed that office). I worked a total of 38 years, survived a divorce, never had kids and didn't want to remarry. At home, I almost always got out of bed around 8 a.m., made my coffee, got out of the PJs, put some makeup on and always, a pair of earrings (the only jewelry I care to wear). I cut my pain-in-the-butt longer hair off and spent most of my daytime hours doing something out in my yard or would be out walking or running errands with and for my mom with Alzheimer's. She's gone now, and I miss her a lot. Routine is a very good thing to cultivate, whether you work or not. Helps greatly to know what colors you look your best in when it comes to makeup or clothing and for me, it's keeping things simple. I've always been on the frugal side anyway and am now content with not actually buying much, though I don't mind looking around. Over the years, I've found nice clothing at thrift stores. I'm currently going through my closet to see what's what and can't wait for the fall-winter season since I prefer the cooler weather...
Hello Cynthia, you are speaking from my heart🥰. And I am just at the very start of getting retiring at 63. I also love thrift Stores, but there are no more in my areas, so whenever I get to Germany or to our main city here in Croatia I do a biiiig shopping tour at the thrift Stores. I also very often get clothes from my people around me, and as I sew a lot of my textiles, there is also a big stash growing in my house😂. And Accessoires, like fashion jewelry , handbags, and scarfs and shoes (without High Heels, because of Osteoporose 😭) are a big Part of my wardrobe. And I love comfort clothing, inspired by the middle ages and vintage. Just found a sweet dress in a CARINA of the year 1978, tadaaaaaa💝. Wish you the best💐
@@ritaborde1657 It's great that you can sew - I learned how years ago and did hang on my sewing machine but got rid of it finally since I hadn't used it in so long. I really regret this. It sounds like you are really enjoying yourself and know good clothing when you see it. I hope you have a wonderful life to come, and may God bless you and yours! Thank you for your comment.
@@cynthiamurphy3669 Cynthia, thank you sooooo much for your good wishes and blessings 🥰. I cannnot imagine having no sewing machine, so, yes, but donot regret, why not get yourself a new one😜?! There so simple and Not expensive sewing machines Out there. I actually sew on one from LIDL 🤩, because my Pfaff machine has lost its Power ( I never sew Jeans again😱!!!) . I also live somehow frugal, all life long, doing a lot of things on my own, and when I like something to buy, I just do IT If I can. We are here on earth to live and enjoy our lifes🥰. Btw, where do you live in this also lovely world? Its getting really cold here, and I go now to prepare my oven and get wood into the House. Enjoy your beloved coldy, but cosy weather ❄️☃️🌬️
YES to storage of those beautiful, special occasion clothes. I am an "aspiring minimalist" but refuse to get rid of some beautiful, timeless dresses I own for future special events. I agree.
I agree! Getting rid of items should only be done if you really really don't want / like them or they break down. I also have a kinda minimalist wardrobe, but I don't wear my "business chic" every day, since I don't want to wear those items down too fast. I want to keep them longer than just a year or two.
Love making a wishlist!! It’s made me realize while I may want things, I have everything I NEED! I clearly don’t need the pink blazer that’s been on my wishlist since 2020. Fantastic video 🙌🏻
A wish list doesn't help finesse one's style. Take straight blue jeans for example. There are different shades of blue, and there are also different waistlines, different shapes at your hip and butt, different lengths and wides of legs, etc. They are designed to work with not only different body types but also different tops and shoes. You won't get those subtleties just from looking at pictures and watching videos. You'd need to buy at least 10 pairs of seemingly similar blue jeans just to start to be able to "get it", and we are just talking about straight-legged blue jeans. ---- Of course, styling will be much easier if all your tops and shoes are of the same fit, style, and similar color.
@@amandaamanda5398 I disagree, with pretty much your entire premise. Straight leg blue jeans are available by the ton, so why would you put them on a wish list, unless you're such a difficult fit that a decent pair of jeans is a dream that has gone unfulfilled? On the other hand, I, too, have had a pink blazer on my wish list, but for 24 years, not just two. I need a petite size, so when I find my dream pale pink wool blazer that's good quality and the right shade of pale pink, it doesn't come in my size or it's sold out. That blazer epitomizes for me my ideal look. It's the image that I keep in my head of how I want to present myself to the world.
The point on footwear is so true. I started to build my outfits up from the shoes I plan to wear according to weather and walking / standing time. First I select my shoe, then I select the outfit that goes best with it. That way I don't have to wear shoes that I don't like that day.
For wishlist items, since I usually see them on Poshmark, I pick a random day in the future and make a reminder that says “if you still want X and it’s still available, you can buy it.” Often deciding to buy it is the fun part and actually getting it/having it is incidental, and this has really worked for me! I still get the joy of deciding I’m going to buy it later, but many times by the time the date rolls around I’m not that into it anyways.
That's a really kool idea! It also takes away the illicit fun that goes hand in hand with guilt, of buying stuff on impulse that you really can't afford but want regardless, which is a good thing!
Shape is SO important, especially for plus sized people like me. Finding a silhouette I enjoyed when I looked in the mirror really helped me stop buying clothes I hated wearing/couldn't style. Don't follow an arbitrary guide about what an "apple body type" should wear, but DO experiment with shape to find out what kinds of clothing are most flattering in your eyes.
Playing around with the silhouettes helps a lot here! Especially constrasting oversized / flowy items with slim fitting ones, or balancing the waistline with the shoe. I found out its not necessarily the "fault" of an item if it looks weird on me, but more of the combination with the other items.
I have at the age of 55 just found my style. It has evolved amazingly. I have lost a phenomenal amount of weight through illness but it suits my 4ft 10 frame better. I ordered from Abercrombie and Fitch for the first time. I must say I am British but live in Australia. I went shopping with my daughter who is 13 and I have been referred to as her grandmother ( very distressing) . However, I now feel happier when in jeans with a nice top, usually plain with a small jacket on top. I became addicted to Poshmark , although I bought a ton of duds I also bought some fantastic vintage pieces. That night I was wearing ankle booties, 3/4 vegan leather pants a pale bodysuit and one of my vintage find jackets. I thought I looked ok but was amazed when a young saleswoman told me that I was rocking my look. I find taking a compliment difficult but that night with no interaction prior between us I actually believed her. I always strive to look my best whenever I leave the house often to my own and other’s detriment. I used to wear what I termed a “uniform “ when I did the school run and had to get out of the car. Little did I know that all the other Mums used to wonder how I looked so put together at that time in the morning. Really it was vanity. I didn’t want to be seen without my makeup on and looking as if I had somewhere to be apart from back home to clean. The breakdown of my marriage has also had a massive impact/effect upon me. I don’t want to be that person anymore, the one my husband fell out of love with if he even ever loved me at all. I was a shopaholic and obviously that had an impact. I just couldn’t find ME. Not sure if I truly have as I have an addiction to boots, long boot, ankle boots, suede boots, leather boots. You name them any colour and I probably have a pair. I accept that I have issues that I have dealt with by shopping, but nowadays I order things, put them in my cart and the forget them. I almost feel I have bought the items just by putting them in my carts and so far it’s working. I have longggggggggg way to go and a lot of things to store, sell, give away or whatever but I’m trying. If you have read this, I Thankyou sincerely. Lorraine
I think Lorraine you love boots and that is your signature style. Nothing wrong with that. You just enjoy fashion. One year I spent an entire income shopping for clothes. But I am not that person anymore. I still buy things but not on that scale. Haven't the space. Curating my wardrobe has stopped the urge to add to it unless the new item is special. And will enrich my wardrobe somehow. I reached a point where I was overwhelmed by all my stuff. Now spend time trying to wear everything purchased. I am 69 and love to dress in my happy clothes...😊
Storing clothes and coming back to them later has become my form of shopping ☺️ i just chuck them into vacuum bags and stash them under the bed and when i rediscover them - it feels like i’ve bought something new. This is also good for my ongoing weight fluctuations cos hormones don’t play lol
Just wanted to let you know that this 60-something girl has, with your help (and that of Alyssa Beltempo ;-)), FINALLY gotten clear about my personal style "signature". I appreciate your channel soo much ❤️ Edit: I really need "footwear" help! Any ideas for helping me "visualize" what shoes will work for my style BEFORE I buy?? I do need to add to my shoe options a bit but because shoes are usually a pricier commitment for me, I'd like to have a way to figure out what to look for first--haha!
I think another great way is looking for staple wardrobe shoes that have versatility but also match your own needs such as can you wear/like to wear high heels or do you prefer flats or maybe a chunkier heel. Next consider seasonal shoe needs depending on where you live, such as if you need a boot for snow or can you get an awesome pair of shields or leather booties for a cooler season. I’d say in most cases you can’t go wrong with a great white pair of quality trainers/tennis shoes like Stan smiths, addidas, Vejas, or Balenciaga…there are many great even more affordable options as well Then consider a great neutral flat or a true red for a pop of color or even a silver or gold pair to treat as a neutral. For me ankle boots are versatile and I’m in S FL. Sandals like the Hermes or the Steve Madden dupe for them are also a nice must have for our weather. I love that you mentioned you can find your personal style at any age. You Go woman! 🌞
Number one is comfort and quality. I shop at Zappos online because they have narrow sizes I need. I’ve discovered favorite brands that suit me (walk Soft and Vaneli for example). Once I have the practical shoes I need for basic occasions, I add fun shoes that add style and color, but very few. I’m 73 but can still enjoy shoes even though my body changes limit clothing styles. I pay more for shoes because their quality and style make or break an outfit.
We have two completely different styles, but after watching this video I had to subscribe to your channel. Those were great tips that could be applied to basically anyone's preferences, and I loved the segment where you showed the New Balance shoes with different pants to make your point! It made everything super visual and also easy to understand. Great content!! :)
The self care tip is the best one in my opinion! I’ve always had a goal for myself that I want to feel so good about myself (my body, my skin, my hair, my personality & sense of self) that I will look good in a white T-shirt and jeans. Hope that makes sense 😊
Great tip to recommend dressing fully- even if working from home, because I find more often than not, I need to still do something that takes me away from the home - often at a short notice, such as dropping off my kids forgotten lunch, or interacting with someone such as a delivery carrier. As Snoop Dogg says, "You don't need to get ready, when you are ready."
This video is so me today!! Self care , allowing myself to store things for a while, revisiting my accessories and waking up one hour earlier to have enough time to get dressed and put a little make up with creativity 🙌🏻😍 joyfully. And NO credit card bills ! Great video 🧡
Agree with the waiting period before a buy- I screen shot things I want and keep them in a folder to re-visit them and make sure I actually want it- 9/10 I don’t end up getting it!
Great video! The struggle you explained at the beginning, at least as far as wearing comfortable clothes but feeling like crap until that look seeps into your work attire too - not a great feeling! It’s amazing how hard just putting on a real outfit and not just gym shorts can be. Thanks!!
I agree with dressing up. I did online teaching during the pandemic and still got dressed up. I'm on vacation this summer but I'm still getting dressed even if I had nowhere to go, and shop my own wardrobe.
this vid came at a great time. i'm getting over a frenzy of impulse shopping and i'm choosing to try shopping my closet more. :) super excited to style what i have for WFH!
I had this Shopping Phase too! I was so ashamed, I did it for A YEAR! I was so embarassed but I want to tackle it now! Its the First time in... months I dont have New clothes on the way to me. I really want to improve
All great points. In addition to the wish list concept, if I find something I want, I’ll research to see what similar options are available. Typically, I end up researching so extensively, and seeing just how many other options there are, I sometimes end up realizing I don’t want to put in the work anymore and the idea goes stale. Kind of like listening to a new song on repeat until I’m sick of it.
I am the same. For me the volume of options make me feeling overwhelmet and I just stop checking up anything. Somethimes it`s quite annoying when I don`t seem to find even basic stuff 🙈
Great tips! I also struggled with impulse buying clothes buyers remorse. One thing that helped me utilize what I already have was going to the gym. A lot of the clothes I already owned I didn’t feel comfortable in because I didn’t feel like they looked good on me, after a few months at the gym I started to realize I was reaching for what I had in my closet and it was exciting and felt like I just got new clothes 😊
Thank you so much, Christina! I especially appreciated the section on selecting the best footwear for your outfit. I am embarrassingly bad with this and would really love to see more tutorials on picking the right shoes! Much love.
Excellent video. Very insigtful. I am one who has way too many clothes and yet "never have a thing to wear". Every so often, I declutter, and rarely do I remember any particular item or regret getting rid of it. That's a sure sign you have more than you need! When I'm honest with myself, I KNOW what I feel good in, what makes me feel attractive AND comfortable. What else do I need? You always look neat, clean, classy and sophisticated. ♥
Your habit #7 is a valuable tool. I've put things away at the end of the winter season, only to forget where I put it when fall arrived. That mistake turned out to be a happy one because it allowed the garment to rest, and I explored other pieces to wear. Whe I finally was able to put my hands on those pieces, I had a new application for the item(s) and styled it with a fresh perspective.
I've heard people say this. Dress nice every day and if your worried about your clothes you can wear an apron. During covid i started just staying in my pyjamas all day 🙊 i have to stop 😂
One thing that has really helped me personally in using an outfit calendar to track how i wear clothes and how often i wear them. Theres a few apps for this and i found it to be great in figuring out what i like to wear and how i like to wear them
Good, down to earth advice. Thank you for showing, not just talking. I’d add if you buy something you love with a great cut (eg shirt/pants), and it will get a lot of wear, buy two in same/different colours. Makes it easy to travel too- same Shakes but different look. Also one item that can be worn several ways, like a shirt dress that can be a shirt dress, unbuttoned for jacket/kimono, beach throw or even dressing gown is great for travel.
I have a method to buying, I leave myself ttotally open to ideas, throw them in the cart, then at the end, I use very strict Need / Want guidelines as I'm trying to be really frugal at the moment since I moved into my first house and my rent is more than double with higher bills and responsibilities, so my entire outlook has shifted and it really sparks my creative side.
That whole wishlist thing is so true! I've been putting items in my wishlist for at least a week before I buy them and if I forget about them or they become out of stock, great, problem solved :)) and when I do remember to go back and the item is still available, I usually say "what was I thinking?!" and take it off of my wishlist. This strategy has really worked for me and saved me some impulse buys that I used to make and completely regret afterwards. Great video ❤
Loved this video. I listened to it on the drive to work and got to watch it tonight to see the outfits you featured. Thanks for the thought and effort you put in this - a great combination of actions, mindsets, and styles.
Oh my god I needed this so so much. I love black, white, red, denims and leopard printed stuff. I thought that this is not good, I mean boring. I am so calm know to reknow my styling journey. Thank you ❤
This was an excellent video! You've given me some food for thought. I bought two dresses at the beginning of the summer that I've gotten a lot of wear out of already. I received compliments on each of them. I knew that they were being sold in different colors and patterns and I wanted to buy those as well since they fit me perfectly and were so flattering. But I resisted, thinking I don't need them. I just discovered that they were marked down on clearance, still in my size here at the end of the summer. I'm really glad I waited, I got each one for $5! Talk about a good deal and now I know that I will get a lot of use out of them. What's that saying, good things come to those who wait :-)
These are excellent tips! Even though I haven’t found my personal style 100% just yet, I have confidence because of incorporating some of these tips, even though I’m trying several different things right now. Especially helpful, is storing things away. I have three bins in my garage of clothing I’m storing away and I check back in with those things every couple of weeks and I might pull out a piece or two or put another one in that has just been sitting in my closet or doesn’t really go with what I currently have out. In a sense, I have a bit of a revolving closet but at the same time, I’m starting to weed things out but I’ve tried several times and just don’t work for me. I have also declutter things that I later bye back because I didn’t take enough time to contemplate. Decluttering can really become a rather wasteful habit in effort to waste less…
Completely agree with your point about shoes. I have had so many great outfits/pieces in my life that I never wore because I just couldn't find the right shoes. I have wide feet and don't like heels so as I try to finally get a good wearable wardrobe finding the right selection of shoes is key, but also so hard!
I can recommend playing around with the silhouettes. Most of my outfits look good with high heels, but I don't like to wear them often. I found out that dressing for my short, curvy body type with cropped tops and high waistlines allows me to wear flats and not look off. I also noticed that wearing a bottom that has the same / similar color as the shoe makes things way easier for me. What I try to say is: sometimes its not about finding the perfect shoe, but making the rest of the outfit fit the shoe.
I used to get rid of things too and did end up starting to hold onto them. I have tons of room to store things, so if it ticks all of my boxes (colour, style, fit, etc) but just isn’t “doing it” for me at that particular time, I hold onto it. I have dug things out in the past! (I have been letting go of things that I know just don’t fit me anymore / are uncomfortable to wear).
Starting a no buy this year … been watching a lot of your content for inspo as well as some others. I keep thinking everything looks so good on y’all and even though I don’t mean to when I think about implementing some style advice I’m criticizing myself & comparing that I’m no where near as thin. It’s only January 6 and this no buy is really showing me how much I’ve been covering up internally with all of these external things I was coveting & purchasing. I’m actually really sad this evening. Not because I want something but because I want ME to truly be okay. 🥲 sorry didn’t mean to trauma dump … loving your content 🖤
I always love hearing your advice. It really inspires me to amp up my style uniforms with accessories and consider proportions when getting dressed. Great video as always! 🙂
Since 2020 it’s gotten so easy to just throw on lounge wear (or even pjs) day after day especially if you work from home… I’m going to try to get “dressed” every day. Like you said, it’s a good way to see what’s really working for me at this stage in my life and what’s not
I have to say something positive about the sponsor - I have the lilysilk pillowcases and I LOVE them. Some silk is not really soft but I feel the silk has gotten even softer with more washes! I have a lot of their clothing on my wishlist 👀
Thanks to decluttering the past 2 years, Im now able to see my true style, and what works for me. Im able to also see the gap in my closet that I intend to slowly fill in. Now I intentionally have the "best" one for each category, instead of having multiple similar items. It s easier to get dressed now. Whenever I feel puzzled about what to dress, I reexamine my closet again. Life is easier and lighter now 💕
1) 1:37 get dressed daily for nothing 2) 3:17 wait before you shop for something 3) 4:45 add texture 4) 7:17 pay attention to footwear 5) 9:37 proportion and balance
I’ve basically stopped shopping for clothes for awhile because my closet is overflowing from buying things because they were on sale, or I thought it looked good on the rack. I’m waiting for a day I can go through and declutter and organize. I’m sure I have the basics for now.
Love this video! I have 2 young kids and end up wearing food or dirt on everything basically as soon as I put it on 😭 It makes me not want to put any of my better clothes on incase they get ruined, but I feel so frumpy
I'm so happy I found your channel. We absolutely have the same style but I'm still in the middle of transitioning my wardrobe as I've discovered my style just recently!
Hola, excellent advise , definitely habits I started this year and it has certainly changed the way I go about purchases. Wish list is great , I usually clear mine pretty quick. Storage is really a must or I will buy something I gave away yet again. Nice work on the video
Thank you for giving me some ideas about how not to add to my already well stocked clothing stash. I love this idea of putting it on a 'wish list'. This would give me the feeling of having actually bought , without spending the money, or adding to my already full wardrobe of clothes. The other item I loved was get dressed every day. I am at home a lot so this will be interesting to see how this plays out. I love your videos, so please keep them coming,,,🏵🌺🌸
Wow, the getting dressed everyday tip is so mindblowing. Like when i'm changing out of my pajamas on the weekend, i'll grab for a teeshirt or something and then put it back and be like, no that's something i can wear to work, no need dirtying that up just to hang around the house. But why, that's what i had wanted to grab in the first place. Why not. It really makes me rethink how I think about clothes. Why wear "uncomfortable" clothes anywhere, even if it is to work. Why shouldn't all my clothes be cozy enough to wear around the house but cute enough to wear out and about. I think that 1 tip helped me hone in on exactly what I want my wardrobe to do for me.
❤ thank you for sharing. You're so right about getting up and getting dressed every day. It's how we show up to the world that matters. Love your blazers in this video by the way. Thanks again for sharing.❤
Great video! I had to limit my colors to blk, grey, white, navy blue, beige/ivory, camel and army green. Now I have a uniform that I can switch out pieces. Patterns/strips overwhelm me
*watches this in pyjamas* I'm going to my closet and i'm dressing myself fancy after this. I look for sustainable/organic brands on Vinted and put them on a wishlist and you're right, I do unlike a lot of things afterwards, because I don't necessarily need them. Yes: shoes. Shoes are everything.
the outfit being off becasue of the shoes!!!! yes! i stuggle with this so much, mostly in autumn, winter - i hate having my ankles out when its cold so, no snickers or flats or mocassins, but i strugle with shoping for boots becasue i think the boots with heels are the most stylish but i know i'll never wear heels day to day. its a very weird specific struggle to have
Thanks. Gonna try the dress up for no reason. Been feeling like an old rag when mi bloke gets in. Will be good to make some effort for my confidence. Be lucky 🤩✌️✨
I few years back i took out all my sweatpants with the thought "if i wont wear it in public why wear it when i got pj?" after that i started to wear comfy dress at home and i always feel far more happy about myself since it looks like im treating myself without losing comfort even if im not having a good day.
I like to see what I have. I save stock photos. If there’s no photo I can find, I take photos. I group them into folders like top, bottom, outerwear, shoes, jewelry, accessories, home goods, return etc.. It helps me to think about “do I really need this?” or “I should return it because I haven’t worn it yet”. I tend to get obsessed on certain styles every year thus buying duplicate or overbuy is highly possible. By seeing my purchases on the screen when I am bored really helps me not to be so obsessive that I must have my fave styles in every color. It also reminds me that I have a whole lot of clothes to rotate. For rotating my vast wardrobe, I cycle several pieces a week by hanging them on a small wardrobe hanger in my room. I can just mix and match them daily. Next week these items would be in hamper and different items would be on the hanger. It forces me to think about what I want to wear once a week and have fun to wear something I may have forgotten.
One thing that made all the difference for me was I stopped wearing pieces that are uncomfortable (heels, tight pants, revealing clothing) because when I’m wearing wider pants, flat shoes etc, I’m way more confident
I like the black relaxed silk pants on you and love the idea of something loose and flowy as a change from denim or dressy slacks. Do you think the proportions of the relaxed silk pant are good or is there so much fabric they feel overwhelming? I have never owned silk, so do you intend to wash the Lily pieces by hand or in a delicate cycle? Is the white tee you style with the silk pants from Lily if so, is their tee body hugging or loose like the Organic Basics oversized tee? What size in the pants and tee did you get? Your videos are educational, informative and very helpful and appreciated. Susan
I got the tee in a size small so I’d say it has an oversized fit! The pants tbh I’m not sure yet as haven’t had to wash them yet! I’ll prob steam them at first! Best to stick to the care instructions. They’re nice a loose and float but not too much fabric at all! 🥰
Love all of these tips thank you! I’m going to start introducing more texture into my wardrobe and making a wish list of things I’m tempted to buy instead of impulse buying!
Wish list cooling off is my best friend ❤ it is so hard to find sizes in stock to try on I love Amazon trial but Zara and H &M are pretty easy to return. x
I appreciate the advice to store things if you are on the fence about them. You or a friend may have interest in it later! Also, I love thrifting as a sustainable and affordable way to try out different fashions. Thank you for the video!
Love the video 😊 I have a love hate problem. Loved ones give and buy me second hand and new clothes, because they know how much i love them. I got to a good place with my wardrobe once and now its out of control again, not knowing how to say no to people who buy me clothes..as they are usually great pieces, but im left feeling overwhelmed what to wear and not enough space/ coat hangers! Any advice on how to politley deal with this? ❤
I just learned this one. I bought a dress and when I got it, I didn't think it looked very good. I didn't style or wear the right undergarments for the dress and it just looked frumpy. I hung it up to return to the store. Before returning it, I decided to try it on as if I was going to wear it. I wore the right bra, had my hair down and put on the pair of shoes I'd wear with it. I looked so much better and I decided to keep it because its a classic looking dress that I could wear for years.
When I buy items I have a few rules. (1) It needs to be a timeless item and I need to be able to make combinations with my already existing wardrobe, (2) whenever I try on clothes I need to have an immediate 'WOW' response, otherwise I am returning the item, (3) focussing on quality over quanitity. Shopping at H&M and ZARA ain't for me, I get overwhelmed and am not satisfied with the quality of clothes. Focussing on quality has been a game changer for me. Yes, I pay two or three times more sometimes for one item, but I am ten times more HAPPY with my purchase.
Great video. I didn't see the video in the top left you were referring to. Did I just miss it? I'll look for it under your video list. Awesome. Keep up the helpful tips.
My problem is I've never liked shopping (I buy 1 new piece of clothing once every year or two) and I only have about 60 pieces in my wardrobe but I've never worn clothes that flatter me or feel good in. I have 2 pieces of clothing that I love so I decided to look into capsule wardrobes and actually learn my style and how to wear the same clothes and make them feel different but yet they're all clothes I love. These tips are great and much appreciated.
✨ *_SUMMARY_* ✨
Thank you

Thanks Marie, the list you mentioned from video helped me a lot in saving time😅😅
"Don't be afraid to repeat an outfit. If it's good, it's GOOD!" ~~this line just felt sooo riGHTTT
Nearly’s - love that term!
I still have that problem.
@@laurennguyen1008 sorry to hear that, Lauren. It took me a long time.
Yep, made a hard rule that if I don’t love it, I return it. Helped a lot.
Well said
That whole 'don't let go of things immediately if you don't want to' is SO TRUE. The other day I pulled out this jacket I bought two years ago and never wore and recently it's become my favourite closet item. It genuinely looks so cute! I feel like now I just go through phases of wearing and not wearing things in my closet and it almost feels like they're new items every time, you know?
I'm the same. I put things away for a bit and then later I'll find it and think it's a new item. :)
I shop mainly thrift and consignment, which is much cheaper than retail and much more fun too.
thrift is so great. I genuinely feel that 70% of my favorite items are thrifted.
Chic 👌🏾
Excellent advice.
Great advice, I'm a Poshmark junkie
You are a very beautiful person. Inside and out. Your content is wholesome and knowledgeable without making the watchers feel laymen or dumb. 🥰
Just wanted to let you know that this 60-something girl has, with your help (and that of Alyssa Beltempo ;-)), FINALLY gotten clear about my personal style "signature". I appreciate your channel soo much ❤️
Edit: I really need "footwear" help! Any ideas for helping me "visualize" what shoes will work for my style BEFORE I buy?? I do need to add to my shoe options a bit but because shoes are usually a pricier commitment for me, I'd like to have a way to figure out what to look for first--haha!
Amazing! Ahhh I love that! I can make a video on shoes 🥰
I’d say in most cases you can’t go wrong with a great white pair of quality trainers/tennis shoes like Stan smiths, addidas, Vejas, or Balenciaga…there are many great even more affordable options as well
Then consider a great neutral flat or a true red for a pop of color or even a silver or gold pair to treat as a neutral.
For me ankle boots are versatile and I’m in S FL. Sandals like the Hermes or the Steve Madden dupe for them are also a nice must have for our weather.
I love that you mentioned you can find your personal style at any age. You
Go woman! 🌞
@@camm8832 These are great, concrete suggestions!! Thank you!
Same!! Loved seeing the differences side by side!
The self care tip is the best one in my opinion! I’ve always had a goal for myself that I want to feel so good about myself (my body, my skin, my hair, my personality & sense of self) that I will look good in a white T-shirt and jeans. Hope that makes sense 😊
This is a great idea!
Absolutely agree!
Genius
Great tip to recommend dressing fully- even if working from home, because I find more often than not, I need to still do something that takes me away from the home - often at a short notice, such as dropping off my kids forgotten lunch, or interacting with someone such as a delivery carrier. As Snoop Dogg says, "You don't need to get ready, when you are ready."
Absolutely agree! Improving my personal style has increased my confidence as well.
Same! I love it !
I love outfit repeating. I’ve learned that it’s “ok” thanks to people like you! Great video😍
It's also called a signature style. I like that term.

Much love.
Coming up!
Great video! I love that you talk about storing items instead of decluttering. I’ve been trying to do this as well.
Definitely! No pressure to get rid of stuff if you don’t want to, esp these days when it’s more expensive to replace something imo.
I appreciate how these tips come from a place of compassion.
I love the konmari method. I only keep what sparks joy. 😊
What's that saying, good things come to those who wait :-)
what a great deal!
@@Christinamychas yes it was! Thanks
Love your tip about personal care and your emphasis on personal finances, style is holistic! 💜
My favorite habit you talked about was working with proportion 👍🏼
Starting a no buy this year … been watching a lot of your content for inspo as well as some others. I keep thinking everything looks so good on y’all and even though I don’t mean to when I think about implementing some style advice I’m criticizing myself & comparing that I’m no where near as thin. It’s only January 6 and this no buy is really showing me how much I’ve been covering up internally with all of these external things I was coveting & purchasing. I’m actually really sad this evening. Not because I want something but because I want ME to truly be okay. 🥲 sorry didn’t mean to trauma dump … loving your content 🖤
You brave. I do not think I could do a no buy year. But a no buy three months yep I can do that.
Like you said, it’s a good way to see what’s really working for me at this stage in my life and what’s not
i truly feel it takes time! you definitely have to play around, enjoy it, learn what YOU love
Life is easier and lighter now 💕
YES! You nailed it!!
I heard your wish list tip about a year ago, and it's literally the best advice ever! I still use it and it helps sooooo much with impulse buying!
Thank you so much for sharing Christina!! Love that you shared the actual habits to building your style. 💕

2) 3:17 wait before you shop for something

4) 7:17 pay attention to footwear
5) 9:37 proportion and balance
Thank you for that!
I’ve basically stopped shopping for clothes for awhile because my closet is overflowing from buying things because they were on sale, or I thought it looked good on the rack. I’m waiting for a day I can go through and declutter and organize. I’m sure I have the basics for now.
Love this video! I have 2 young kids and end up wearing food or dirt on everything basically as soon as I put it on 😭
It makes me not want to put any of my better clothes on incase they get ruined, but I feel so frumpy
The outfit with the black blazer is so cute!! You're so stylish!
Yay!!
So many great things to think about when thinking about style and spending money. Thank you for sharing!
Going to try some of these tips. I have never had a style and often feel embarrassed when I have to go out places with the clothes that I have.
I love this, thank you!! And thinking about personal style as a habit that takes time *chef's kiss*
That's some real talk right here that I needed. Thank you.
Amazing!
Another excellent video. The silk trousers look great on you 💚
Your tips are sensible. Ty!
what a great video! the first I've thought seemed like a regular person like me learning good fashion lessons! you are REAL - yay! helpful, thank you!
Practical, realistic, but effective tips! Thank you for sharing this. ✨
Wish list cooling off is my best friend ❤ it is so hard to find sizes in stock to try on I love Amazon trial but Zara and H &M are pretty easy to return. x
found ur channel today and lemme tell u ive been binge watching! love ur content x
Thank you for being here 🥹
Your pieces of advice are actually so on point, thanks for this nice content!
A short version of this video would be welcome. Thanks for this helpful tips!
I appreciate the advice to store things if you are on the fence about them. You or a friend may have interest in it later! Also, I love thrifting as a sustainable and affordable way to try out different fashions. Thank you for the video!
This is one of the better videos on finding your style thank you
You’re so smart omg. These tips are really helpful, so are your past tips, I’ve always gotten something from them thank you I love your videos :D
Practical information. Awareness of the basic. Time to take a good look at my spring/summer switch to fall/winter.💕💕💕
This is such a wonderful video. It touches my heart. I can totally resonate with every single word that you said.
The most encouraging and clear styling-help I `ve ever got! Thanks a lot!!
Love all the suggestions, especially about footwear. Thank you for sharing.
