  • Potatoes are Hilled Up for two reasons and Hilling up potatoes is simply adding or layering more soil over the original planting level.
    The first reason is to prevent the potatoes from being exposed to light and turning green.
    The second reason is the with some potato varieties, hilling up can actually increase yields.
    You can use soil or straw, or even mulch to hill up.
    We look at how to hill up potatoes, the different hilling techniques between determinate and indeterminate pots varieties.

      Thanks for watching. And just use a little, a handful each layer is enough. We have 6 different varieties going and all are looking good.....
