Can confirm that Norwegian army also move tactically, but I think this trip was more for the benefit of Magnus, and as such, was less tactical than they normally do.

Danish Sirius Patrol.... 2-man teams, long range reccee for 4+ months at a time. They literally hunt and forage and carry old bolt-action Enfields due to the amount of time in the cold and...... And the polar bears.

I can't remember how many times I have been promised that and it has been pure BS almost every time.
Just assume it will never happen and prepare for the worst is my advice to anyone that consider serving or is serving.

Hey Craig, can you do a video going over the "banter" in the army?
All other countries have "banter" style customs but I have never seen anything about Britush traditions / banter.
e.g. In the USA respected soldiers getting awards get a strong "punch" in the chest, if theyre highly respected.
Do we have that sort of stuff?

I would be very surprised if there wasn't banter in the British army. Banter is possibly one of the things that Britain is most well known for.

    Hi Craig.
This is purely just a question which could understandably get hate.
But i’m just curious as to whether there are any ways to leave the army, possibly through buyout or something once you’re passed your DAOR window. Possible psychological strain or something and obviously in the army, it isn’t supposed to be easy but just wondering

You can't buy out that's an old school thing, i would say stick it out it gets better. I don't believe there is but speak to your chain if command

Hey Craig, I'm looking to enlist in a military branch soon and wondered if you had any advice. Specifically I'm looking to compare the British Army and Royal Air Force. I've found loads of information about the Army and what I can expect, but not a lot about the RAF. Do you have any information about how they compare? Do you know where I can find more information? Thank you, I appreciate your videos

Air Force?Join the Air force if you want a trade. If you want to be a soldier join the Army or the Marines. If you want a trade and to be a fighting soldier, join the Engineers or the Signals. They have their own airborne and commando sqns and the Signals also have their own SAS and SF units. I met guys from this Noggie unit in Pfullendorf, they're pretty good but they're no better than equivalent units from other NATO members.

Hi Matthew Parsons. I was in both the British Army (1980-85) and the Royal Air Force (1985-94). I found that the Army trained my body, whereas the RAF trained my mind. In the RAF you are first and foremost a TRADESMAN - you need to know your job and be self-disciplined whilst you are doing it. They will expect you to analyse a situation and sort it out yourself to their requirements: you will not be waiting for the word of command.
If you are thinking of joining either branch of the forces, learn as much as you can before you go in. Go to college, get some qualifications. It broadens your chances when you enlist. You may want to join a certain corps or regiment, however, this may not work out. When I joined the army, more than 50% (in my case anyway) did not pass basic training. Others were sent to different units because it was felt they would be more useful as a tradesman or whatever.
Physical training is a lot harder in the army. Get to the gym if this is the path you are choosing. If it's the RAF, enroll in college or tech, and get some quals in the trade that you are applying for. Better still, do both, regardless of what branch you join. It'll not be wasted.
Best of luck and keep us posted.
