    I just posted this on Overkill's site to thank him for promoting this video. This worked great (and unfortunately the two words that follows are the most hated in FS circles...) "for me". I used to fly around Los Angeles, but somewhere around SU8, I started getting severe jitters, and my FPS sometimes dropped to 10-15 when at an airport. I gave up and started flying out of Seattle, which is still a bit jittery but not as bad. I followed your advice and got a jump to the low 40's at Burbank, which is where I had really bad performance before. As others have mentioned, it could simply be the deinstallation of GEForce Experience and/or the clean install that did it more than anything else, but wow... this allowed me to increase my OLOD and TLOD also where I had to reduce them because of the jittering.
    You sir, are a steely-eyed missile man!

      I had 10 x nVidia containers, however, I couldn't see that any of them were using grahics resources in task manager. I uninstalled GEFORCE Experience and I only had 2 x nVidia containers but I didn't get any improvement in FPS flying in Cessna 152 from City Airport London. I am running i7 and RTX 2070S non-VR 2560x1440 with all FS2020 settings maxed out. I will try the full set of steps sometime to see what happens.

    😄Thank YOU! I watched the entire video and carefully took notes and screenshots. I can say that I certainly appreciated it, but I have to laugh because it wasn't until the end of the video, when you mentioned that the Nvidia Icon in the system tray will "No longer show the GeForce Experience", that I realized my Nvidia icon doesn't show the GeForce tattoo!
    I then remembered that I never installed any of those options! I suspected them to be bloatware back then and decided not to enable any of them.
    Therefore, I already had the GeForce Exp 'out of the picture', but I haven't tried FS 2020 since I've installed it (just recently) because I wanted to get all my 'ducks in a row' first. I've been a long-time FSX Flight-simmer for about 9+ years and was aware of what all those little 'free options' could do to a system, (even to the ones that I custom-build).
    Still, there were some steps that you showed in the video regarding selections made before installing the driver (like, "Enable DLSS Indicator" or "Show Expert Tweaks", etc.), that I'm sure I never selected when I installed my 3080Ti. So, I plan to try going w/o using this procedure and if I experience any issues that you said your video addresses, I'll just go on and do it!
    I know that it wasn't a waste of my time to take all those notes and screenshots because I may need the notes anyway. If not, well, I learned something and that's a "plus".
    Thanks again,
    Rich

      @@2020fsers Just wanted to warn other laptop users like me that might experience what I had, high battery drain. This method worked to bring smoother and higher fps but I recently noticed when I unplug my laptop to use on battery, it was quickly draining. From 7 hours of battery use to less than an hour. I did a clean install with the latest driver but the issue still persisted. So I did DDU again and then clean installed just using the normal Nvidia method and installed GeForce experience and now my laptop battery is back to normal, lasting 7 hours. I would recommend this only to people who don't use their laptop battery and desktop users. Had to sacrifice the fps gains and smoothness for my battery. 🥲

    • @2020fsers
      @2020fsers  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for this info I do have a work around if you want to try it. Run the ddu again and then run the original driver from nvidia run the setup select custom install then make sure to not select GeForce experience. This application is not 2hat caused your battery draw it is other parts of the driver that we don't install using the nvclean so this way should work for you .

      @@2020fsers So I went through both of your videos and I feel that I should've stopped after this one and checked the fps before adjusting my gpu settings (your other tutorial). That said, I'm going to have to go back and reset my settings as I'm getting 60+ fps while flying in the Alaskan bush but that said, the natural beauty is now very cartoon-ish and awful. Then while flying at JFK it dropped way down to the high teens and was pixelated in areas. So I'll have to take some time and go back through the settings in both the sim and gpu. I'm using a lowly Nvidia 1070, btw. Thanks again for these great tutorials, I'll let you know more after making adjustments.

    Wow, this really has made the 30-40% performance increase (I've also followed your other videos for OpenXR and other VR settings). Flying a helicopter I'm now able to fps of 35-40 with quite high quality settings. But what was even more of a surprise, was that with low quality settings I could use VR with fly-by-wire A32NX getting fps of 30-35 (sometimes higher). I'm using an RTX3060Ti and Quest 2 from Oculus
    One small problem is that I've noticed that the upper left segment of the left eye is blurry sometimes ... like looking though a glass bottle. What might be causing this (it's strange to me that it's one segment of one eye)?

    • @2020fsers
      @2020fsers  Год назад +1

      Thanks for the comment happy this helped. You may need to mess with the ffr in the openxr toolkit . You can turn ffr off and see if the blurriness has gone away if so then you just need to tweak those numbers probably the vertical and horizontal offset.

      Decided to leave FFR off completely. May come back to it later. Really recommend your guides to anyone struggling with VR (and with a NVIDIA GPU). Thanks again

I am on a 3090 and a i9-10900k. I have noticed it has done a good job reducing anti-aliasing/shimmering in the mid range, which kind of broke some of the immersion. Still there but its better. Thanks for the Nvidia Performance Hack. Really didn't increase my framerate that much in MSFS but your previous video regarding the adjustment of the Nvidia Control Panel did make a big difference. Increased my framerate by 40%. Getting back to the performance hack; it did unexpectedly fix an issue I was experiencing with Adobe Photoshop for the past three months. Photoshop stopped working because it did not recognize OpenCL. After extensive troubleshooting with the help of both Adobe and Nvidia customer service yielded zero results. I was about to give up when I saw your video in regard to the Nvidia Performance Hack. After running the processes outlined in your video, I decided to try ONE LAST TIME to try and run Photoshop. Voila, Photoshop opened without error and the OpenCL file box was checked. I can now use photoshop thanks to you, my friend. Keep up the good work regarding MSFS. Your performance instructions are a true boon to all Flight Simmers.

      Tip, if you haven't used the tool program. I've been testing reducing resolution. G2 is way over sampled. I reduced it to 80% with no loss of quality.
      Your brain may try to tell you it looks worse, our human nature greedy for eye candy, but you can pop back and forth out of VR and disable the tool. You'll see no real loss of quality. It's just things you were ignoring as normal stand out when you are looking for flaws.

    Another appreciative "down under" follower here and a NZ beer or 2 waits if you ever get to visit :-). Your info helped me get my VR FPS from a totally unusable 2-3 to 19 after making changes per your recommendations.
    My system specs are:
    Windows 11 Home 64
    MSI B560 B560M, Pro-E MS 7D-22 Intel U3-E1 - gaming mode selected (whatever that means)
    Intel Comet Lake Core I5 10400 CPU @ 2.9GHZ
    32GB memory
    NVidia GEFORCE GTX 1660 Super GPU, 2047MB, drivers up to date
    2 Samsung SSD 860 EVO
    HP Reverb G2 VR
    OpenXR per your recommended settings.
    Task Manager had 6 NVidia entries before Guru3d and NVClean, now shows 2 - I assume this is as expected.
    My CPU typically running at less than 50% and GPU up from 65-70% to 98-100% in VR.
    In your opinion, does 19 FPS sound about right for my specs or do you feel that my system should be capable of more and if so, I would appreciate any recommendations about where to look.
    Thanks very much
    Mike

      Hey thanks for the comment and happy it helped you.. so are you running you ram on xmp mode in the bios? If not turn that on will make a big change. I also just did a windows optimization guide I know it's for windows 10 but the application at the end of the video is a good application to use for 10 and 11 that will also help. You can also use msi afterburner and overclock your gpu. I also have a video on that as well.

    Hi Thank you for this tutorial and the time you have spent producing it.
    I have followed your suggestions and the sim looks pretty good. I now have an issue in that when I open another program, little nav map. Navigraph, discord etc my fps drops from 35/40 down to 15. I have not had this problem previously. I guess I need to roll back some of the settings in Nvidia, but which ones?

    • @2020fsers
      @2020fsers  2 года назад

      That's strange when it happens what does the fps tool say you are limited by. Removing GeForce from the driver should not cause this issue. What I would do is hit the restore button in the nvidia control panel and start by changing 1 thing at a time and see what you get. Thanks for the comment 😀

      @@2020fsersHi, Not running VR and "limited by main thread" I restored the Nvidia settings and the issue is solved. I will go through the settings 1 at a time. The good news is I have a performance increase by following the DDU/NV clean install of about 10fps before even adjusting the Nvidia/Cfg file/Windows settings 👍I am running on a i5 with a 1080ti so my processor is always going to be limited I guess . Is it ok to adjust the Nvidia settings with the sim running?

    If you use a 3rd party app to make your Graphic settings like Nvidia Inspector and you don't mind disabling your Nvidia Display Settings app, there is a much easier way to do this and it eliminates all the Nvidia Container sessions. All you need to do is run MSCONFIG and in the Services tab disable the "NVIDIA Display Containers" service. Reboot and you'll no longer have any NVIDIA Contain apps active which effectively disables all NVIDIA Apps except the driver, which you can modify with your 3rd party app (Like NVIDIA Inspector)

    I must be the odd one out as this process had no impact on my frame rates at all, i9 10900, 4070 RTX 64gb Ram, Z490 mobo. Added new GPU at Christmas as I replaced an RTX 2080 super but this change has resulted in drastic FPS loss and stuttering to the point of killing the sim at low altitude. My RTX 2080 was delivering 30 fps from 3000 feet and below and up to 60 fps above 10000 feet. The RTX 4070 is struggling at 20 fps below 3000 feet and maxes out at 30 fps above 10000 and that's with the LOD at almost zero. Flying into purchased airports is a complete NO NO. I assume that when new drivers are available from Nvidia that we have to put them through the NVClean software every time?

    • @2020fsers
      @2020fsers  11 месяцев назад +1

      wow that doesnt sound right . removing geforce should always be a benefit . it may not yeild fps gain everywhere but it should smooth things out. How was your performance with the 4070 before you did this? Also keep in mind that all the nvidia panel settings need to be redone after a driver update. but to me sounds like its a setting issue in the nvidia panel . A good way to test this is to simply run the setup file in the driver you downloaded from nvidia and install the full driver and see you results without changing any settings to compare apples to apples . if it works then what i would do is rerun the driver install from nvidia and select custom install and uncheck the geforece stuff and finish the install and see if that works better. i just cant see any scenario that using geforce exp will make the sim smoother .

    It didn’t work for me. I have a 3060 and a i7 10th gen. Performance is worst for me. I still get 40fps like before, but a lot of stutters (much more than before). I followed the instructions to the letter (and video part 1 also)… maybe this works for higher end cards and processors? I am about to uninstall and install the driver normally…

      Thanks for the comment . Let me know if when you install the full version back if the stutters go away. Those may be coming from settings in the nvidia control panel . If you turn on low latency to ultra maybe switch that back to off.

    On further testing I'm getting about a 10 to 15% FPS increase (I'm continuing testing). I also watched the "BEST Graphics Settings For SIM 9 Update" video and performed the recommended NVIDIA & Sim Graphics Settings. Since I have an I7 processor I did try VSYNC setting off/on...did not seem to make a big difference, but this is the first time I've had anyone of the Graphics Performance videos suggest anything but VSYNC OFF. I've always found that TERRAIN LEVEL OF DETAIL seems to be the parameter that FPS is most sensitive to.

    I have followed each suggestion in this video as well as those suggested in the description. They have been a literal gamechanger. I'm running intel i5 processor with a GTX 3060 gpu. My Nvidia had 11 bloatware items, including Gforce. I only used the Gforce overlay for fps monitoring, and Steam provides this option anyway. I have extreeeemly smooth play with Ultra settings now. I'm able to fly through busy landscapes using more complex aircraft. My framerate has gone from 30-40 to 40-55. Both my Steam and MSFS2020 are running from a secondary SSD through a one-lane PCIe adaptor. I've been using the Google Maps mod and it is fantastic. I look forward to upgrading to Google Maps Pro. The mapping is even better. I will be joining The 2020 fs'ers group as soon as I can load my paypal. Hi hope you are doing well. currently when I open FPS window in msfs it flickers between Limited by Gpu and Limited by main thread and both of my components are utilizing at 100% . i'm planning to upgrade both as I'm not happy with the performance, but which one do you recommend to upgrade first to have less stutters at least, Cpu or Gpu? (having I3 9100F with a RX 5500 XT 4GB, getting mostly 40-ish in the air and average 20 to 25 in the busy airports, planning to buy a 4060ti with 7600x) Thank you and regards

      Ok so when you get it to flicker ba k and forth it is setup perfect. You have a good balance between gpu and cpu . I would upgrade the cpu first if you are going to upgrade . But also know stuttering is now a thing in msfs after su14 so I wouldn't say upgrading Anything is going to reduce all your stutters.. And It almost solved every problem I've ever had like all the stutters were gone, and I was flying in Northwest Territories of Canada with default airport sceneries and had absolutely no stutters. when I came down to Vancouver with custom scenery and vram went full again fps went down to 14 15. • @2020fsers
      @2020fsers  11 месяцев назад

      @thesepehrsamadi your welcome ... Okay, there's a couple things you can do. The easiest thing to do is to turn down. Your texture resolution from ultra or high to medium. The second thing you can do in the nvidia control panel. Make sure that you're cuda set to driver default or prefer system fall back. I went over that in my Invidia control panel video.. But I have seen that on my system even if I put it to prefer system fallback or driver default. It doesn't fall back to system memory. So I have to turn down my texture resolution.
