I tried the recipe. The custard tasted just like the original thing. I was also surprised that the sponge cake turned out perfectly! Everything went well UNTIL I had to shape it lol. Thanks again for the recipe and posts! Hopefully I can perfect the shape :)

how am i supposed to comment on the video? have been trying for a while, so confusing.. btw ochi, i followed your sponge cake recipe, but it shrunk and became so soggy that it became a mess when i cut it up :( also, is the cream supposed to be more liquid than normal cream? i stirred in on the stove for almost 30 min, but the consistency wouldn't become "cream like"
+ochikeron I really appreciate and like your videos. I can't really say how much I do. Your Japanese foods are amazing. You are an inspiration for all those people who want to taste the Japanese traditional food. Thank you very much Ochikeron, the sweet mother... ☺😊

I lived in Japan & travelled to Japan but never got to taste the famous Tokyo Banana. Yesterday I got the time and energy to make one and today we got to taste it. My family & loved it! Thank you for this recipe!!!
I ate tokyo banana in Tokyo, in April, and I loved them. Thank you for this recipe, they actually taste like the originals. I used corn starch instead of flour for the sponge cake, because a friend of mine is celiac, and it worked out!
I'm so amazed by this recipe. I can't go to japan and get this souvenir but you introducing a homemade recipe just makes this much much better! Thank you so much ochikeron! :)
I love your channel, just can't get enough of it. Anyway keep up the good work. Japanese cuisine may not be the most renowned, but I find it the most interesting.
I'm a guy who's trying out for home baking and this video gave me inspiration to try and make this Tokyo Banana ^__^ It was entertaining as well, which always helps as well of course
I had this dessert before it was like biting into a soft cloud with a fragrant smooth banana cream. I thought I would never be able to eat again. I will try making this.
I tried and it looks like banana more when u tie the two end of the plastic together after roll (before freeze in fridge), it gives the roll a curve shape. Thanks for the recipe!!!!
I bought tokyo banana cake as omiyage when i came japan. It is very good and i couldnt find out recipe on youtube or internet. Thank you for upload.1000 like.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe. I miss a lot tokyo banana. I used to buy every time I was in Tokyo. It's so delicious! I'll try it out. Your recipes are really awesome. ♥
so I made this last nite and tried it this morning.... it is fantastic!!! (and for those on a diet-like me-it's only 52 calories per cake!!!)~which makes this recipe even better!!! domo arigatou gozaimashita ochi san❤
I've seen in japan where a peeled banana is put on a stick and dipped in melted chocolate... I wonder how tasty it would be if you put a Tokyo banana on a stick and dipped it in melted chocolate... X3
oh my thank youu for uploading this, I always want to try tokyo banana but I dunno where to buy it in my country and I also cant go to japan. really thank you for uploading this, now I can made one, I love u ochikeron :D
Awesome ! I just came back from Japan, and I really loved the food there ! such delicacies.. We bought strawberry, chocolate and caramel flavored tokyo bananas, but are all gone now... i love the fluffy cake, but probably not the yogurty filling.. I will definitely give this a try, cause i miss the tokyo banana. :)
i love how also put the entire recipe in the description box. most of my favorite cooking channels on youtube never do that, or they'll only out the ingredients. so thank you for not being lazy!!!! :) p.s. I love your outfit lol
I tried this this morning.. Banana cream went well. However the roll cake not so much. Is was too thin to slice into two pieces. So I made another one and just did it with one piece :) Tasted great! Will post a photo on instagram

Hi ochikeron, this is one interesting midday snack, since I dont have much time for baking, I often have to prepare the ingredients before hand on weekend. could you let me know how long the cream and the cake can be stored in the fridge without spoiling the taste too much? Thank you very much for sharing
This reminds me of the original twinkie. The first twinkies were filled with a banana flavored cream and later they switched to vanilla cream. But these look like more delicious than any twinkie!
Hi if I wan do tokyo strawberry cake instead, how should I change the recipe? U can help to do a recipe on it? I ate before all tokyo banana products. But I don't like banana. I super love the toyko strawberry cookies best! Thanks!
I made this recipe today! I have to say it is very delicious! Mine turned out smaller than yours though... I wonder why? I did make 2 sponge cakes to make the full 16 to use all the cream.

Fell in love with Tokyo banana when my cousin gave it to us as souvenir from her Japan trip ^^ Love ur vids cuz of how easy u make cooking & baking looks. Makes me wanna try all out. Btw, do we chose a ripe or super ripe banana for this? Does it matter if the banana is not that sweet?
