- How to diagnose a failed common rail pressure relief valve on a Cummins isl, with code 4726 fuel system leakage. Pressure relief valve test • Cummins Pressure Relie...

Worked out great with a ISL i had in the shop, glad i saw this before i followed cummins troubleshooting! (wanted me to test each injector fuel return)
Experiencing this problem with several of the M2s at work and techs are "quarterbacking" parts at them. Will definitely try this. Thanks!
Changed it, fixed it! Thanks!
Quaterbacking 🤣🤣🤣🤣 lmao thats what the stealership do best
@@kamahoo451most likely a injector not a fuel pressure relief valve there’s a way to test them. You are supposed to remove the banjo and install move the return line aside. Max the pressure and it’s not supposed to leak more than 10 or 30 drops have to check on Cummins quickserve
Thanks for the video brotha. I think you fixed my issue.
Been replacing these on our freightliner m2 106 fleet for the fuel leakage issue.
Very good master
Good video my friend but I would like to know if an injector can leak fuel to the return and let the riel pressure to drop down? I believe If this is possible we won’t have fuel in the oil but how do we find which injector is leaking?
Thank you I love your videos brother
You are a great technician and a good teacher too
Smart guy here thank you
Cummins isl...my oil dip stick going up slowly with fresh oil change now .....so...
injectors? Or this pressure relief . valve??
What does it cause if it's faulty
does it prevent the engine from starting ?
Hi you can tell why this replacement is replaced
Was the truck giving you hasitation when going uphill? Like it wanted to shut down? What were the symptoms?
how is the isl 13?
Youssaaa islander mahn!!!
Vincy🇻🇨 to be exact. 👍 thanks for watching.
My insite doesn’t show parameters or value/units.
I’m having a issue with my isl9 when it’s idling. I have no issues when driving, it’s runs great but at idle it sounds like it’s missing and turbo start surging. Can’t figure out the cause and help
The pisser is, it has to be running. Mine won't start to do this test
nice video. do you have the torque spec on that banjo? o yea, btw, looks like you got a plugged up egr and maybe some dirty p tubes haha
Was that a crank no start ???
Had this problem and the code came back after changing the rail valve
Hello, can you help me, where is located the check fuel valve Cummins ISX15. Thank you
I hope ya found it
It depends on the year of isx
05-09 it's on the primary pump
10-17 it's on the fuel rail front of engine
I have a cummins engine on a Hyundai hx380l bugger. Engine number 22196104. The engine needs more fuel than usual.
It consumes the value in 10 working hours 480 liters.
Although the Hyundai company in the country tested and failed to solve the problem
Could be the problem from the common rail
I just tried the fuel leak test and it gets to 29k psi but once i turn off the key is drops to 0 in less then 10 seconds. I replaced the pressure relieve valve and its still doing it.
Check your injector return flow at the back of the cylinder head.
I just had same isl9 engine with just this Code !!!
The high pressure fuel pump was already replaced, so I replaced the Silver valve just like you diagnosed.
Went for a Road test , CEL came on.
Left to have further diagnosis.
You did not say weather you Replace the Aluminum Compression Washer. ????
Or made a video how to remove the Compression Washer from the fuel rail.
Cummins recommend changing the washer. There's no 1 fix for this code. If you perform the pressure test, and it's leaking. It can be the valve, fuel injector, fuel pump, or fuel rail, all on the high side. Ultimately you must run your diagnostics. The video is just to help someone who has never seen this code before. Make sure you don't have fuel restrictions also.
@@radieseltech6417 we now changing injectors, will keep you posted
There are 3 drain lines for the rail. 1 from the back pressure relief valve 1 from the injectors and 1 from the fuel pump, they all go to the fuel manifold. Cummins recommends to install a banjo bolt connector with a line to a collector or bucket with a measuring beaker for each return at the fuel return manifold and to measure the amount over 1 minute when engine is operating for each outlet individually. The line with excessive fuel is the leaking side. There are individual injector cutoff clamps that go on the fuel rail to stop fuel flow to that injector to determine the exact leaking injector.
I got code SPN-157 FMI 18 Engine Fuel 1 injector Metering Rail 1 pressure. Any idea what it could be? I am starting out with Waterfuel separator filter and fuel filter. This Cummins isx15 2013 Volvo.
Did you ever fix this?
Have a ISL9 cm2250 with a fueling issue. Starts and runs normally, no fault codes, Ran an after treatment Regen analyzer, test completed and passed with no failure errors. Ran an injector performance test, test aborted after about 30 seconds stating fuel pressure unstable. No high fuel decay rate. No high pressure leak from HPR valve (0drops in 60 seconds, spec=30drops Max in 60 seconds) and injector return at rear of cylinder head (30mL measure in 60 seconds, spec states 90mL max in 60 seconds). Fuel pressure leakage test keeps cancelling intermittently and failure error states high fuel pressure condition exists. Low pressure system checks out okay 120psi at high idle and suction side checks okay (5inHg, spec states 10inHG max). Any ideas? Could a HPR valve be stuck closed and malfunctioning causing the high fuel rail pressure?
