The Ayreon Universe concert was recorded in September 2017 at 013 Poppodium concert hall, Tilburg, the Netherlands. It was released on DVD and Blu-Ray on March 30, 2018.
How can Michael Mills make this better than the studio version??? Just how???? That man is not human
I'm always impressed with Joost's playing, but in his solo here, he's positively channeling Keith Emerson. Awesome stuff.
That moment at the end where Michael sings higher and longer than all the girls! XD
Mike Mills ist just phenomenal! So much talent.
Joroen Goossens is Freaking amazing! Multi-instrumentalist extraordinaire! I know everyone is amazed by the vocals. But. Without these phenomenal musicians, this show wouldn't exist!💕 from 🇺🇸
My favorite thing Ayreon has ever done for me is introduce me to Michael Mills.
Someone: "A didjerido in a sci-fi/progressive/metal concert? Preposterous!"
Ayreon: "Hold my beer".
Proceeds to AWESOMENESS \m/
Ήμουν εκεί, το είδα με τα μάτια μου! ;)
@@dwarf902 On one hand, awesome! On the other, as I was not there, the Codex dictates that I should hate you :p
Love the faces of the band while Mike gets pushed around. killing-it-from-afar-go-tell-it-in-a-bar could be a 10h video and would still be awesome
Lisette looks ready to punch Mills in the face, love it xD
If I had a nickel for every piece of Prog metal I listened to today with a Digeridoo in it, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.
Karnivool?
@@bmac4 Ganondorf Battle from Dr. Pez's Ocarina of Time prog rock album
Listen to Between the Buried and Me - Informal Gluttony and you'll have 3 nickels.
R.I.P. Mike Baker, amazing job on Devin Townsends part
Indeed, may he rest in peace - I'm still confused though, since he's not on this video.
Ricamros, no he’s not but it was his voice for the original recording.
@@frederickberger2320 Right, that is true
@@Ricamros I miss Mike so much.
words are really hard 😢
What an amazing performance! And can I just say that Joost is such a fucking rock star!!
There is so much John Lord acts in this hammon solos,i think Joost have hes ovn tribute to the hammon king him self.RIP John i hope you looks down to all Ayreon conserts and thinking the Hammon rocks is safe alongs that genius have an free spirit on those notes
Just epic. One of the best introductions I've ever heard in this life.
You created the perfect song to dedicate to my father, I love you all
xD
In another timeline, Michael Mills makes a career voicing cartoon villains.
I would love that, thanks
Why is Marcel Coenen's name not in the info section? He's one of the best guitar players I've ever heard/seen. He's been in many amazing bands for probably 30 years. Lemur Voice and Sun Caged for example. Even had some fantastic solo songs that would blow your mind. Marcel, If you're reading this, I remember you from the John Petrucci website forum back in the early 2000's and you were like a God there. I bought a Lemur Voice cd and was blown away, some of the best prog metal ever written.
I don't remember my thought process when I made the descriptions, but maybe I should add the instrumentalists to them as well, if I'm ever not too lazy
As a side note, and not directly connected to this song, but I love "The two gates" where Irene Jansen introduce the entire Band, and she does that in such an amazing way.
Arjen: i want some outstanding keyboard solo
Joost: hold my beer
and then arjen trows a LUL!! on the screen 🤣
A little late to the party but " We miss you Mike Baker!" We sure do.... We sure do 😢
NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER...
Idk why but the "LUL" on screen got me
I could give you all the answers, but then i would take away the pleasure of diving into the world of Ayreon. So, find out yourself...
@@sjeraar1 well Loser is one of my favorite tracks musically
@@thanatos_razl Lul means Dick in Dutch.. it's Arjans nickname for his beloved keyboard player Joost van den Broek. They must be good friend... otherwise.. well you know
@@sjeraar1 ah ok lol I don't know Dutch so thanks
@@thanatos_razl Means dick or prick xD
Emerson Lake and Palmer would be proud of that Hammond
Keyboard solo joost..Nice!🤟❤
The ladies' eyes at 4:29, lovely
I can think of worse things than be pushed around by those 4 lovely ladies :-)
Epic organ solo
How is it possible that Michael Mills makes the original song seem boring? And I LOVE this song on the album!!!’
No one speaking about how so fucking epic this song really is
Absolute inasanity of a song!!!!
The fact that 90% of australians have no bloody clue who Mike Mills is..is a crime.
The description should say "vocals by" because there are a lot of other perforers :v and they were amazing to no having credits :c
I do agree somewhat myself, but I did upload this entire concert and each performed on stage is introduced at some point. Never mind the fact that the instrumentalists are pretty solidified as "Ayreon members", unlike the singers. Oh, and I considered naming the singers separately important because they usually differ from the album vocalists.
This is amazing
this is insane
Love it. But it REALLY would be perfect with a bit of Devy at the end. Nobody can match that man...nobody has the balls to try.
Just awesome
Pensar que Devin Townsend no queria grabar en este disco y el resultado sorprendio al mismo Arjen.
PD sin la voz de Mike Barker junto con la de Devin jamas nadie igualara este track
OMG les FRISSONSSSS
🔥🔥🔥
This song it’s totally like Herodes song of JC superstar
Marcel Coenen looks like Kyle Gass doing metal guitarist cosplay. Fucking rad player though!
Poor Michael, being pushed around lol
I think he was quite enjoying being the meat in that rather tasty looking and sounding sandwich :D
Damn thats good.
Good shit all round
tis a great album
Is Joost ever not smiling?
Joost riiiiiiiiipppppped it.
This keyboard part is just unearthly..
This guy playing is unearthly
if Nigthwish did drugs
There are two vocalists :O
Just love that song but just not some how seen it,hear or whatever :O
Good job Joost not whatever writeing before =D
4.24 !
Ok I have to know what LUL is? 😂 can anyone tell me?
I think it literally translates to "cock", but more accurately means asshole. All available Dutch speakers are free to correct me
@@Ricamros haha amazing! That’s how you know they are true friends ;)
It's a deliberate misspelling of 'lol' (laughing out loud) because... actually I'm not sure why, lul sounds funnier than lol I guess?
@@LotsOfS It actual is an inside joke between Joost (keyboardist) and Arjen (composer) it is a Dutch curse word for Cock or asshole
@@FlyingDutchguy I sincerely doubt that an injoke between two members of a relatively niche and unpopular band turned into a huge internet slang word
HAHA
GOD MERCY
I AM NOT ONE 😭
New to this band. Whos this singer? I love this lol it's fantastic and funny.
I know the original studio version is someone else.
That's Michael Mills from Toehider!
@@Ricamros he's brilliant! Saw evertbody dies video. He nailed it there too. Anything you could recommend with him in it
@@metalmayhem007 the theory of everything ( and a lot of his stuff from his band toehider)
@@metalmayhem007 I would recommend the album What Kind of Creature Am I.
@@metalmayhem007 bit late reply, but check out The Day That The World Breaks Down
How's this instrument in the beginning called?
Didgeridoo
Bucium
Can anyone tell me what "LUL" means on the screen?
Cock, dick, it's what a dutchie would say to either some1 they don't like or their best mate)
Basicly like loser or a insulting 'you' but, it is all an inside joke from Arjen and Joost. In Duch it directly translates to cock or dick.
Imagine thinking you could replace Devin Townsend with four women
imagine being an insufferable nerd who would leave a comment like this
Hey Niki Minaj fans check this out and sit down and shut up forever
Do all of this band's songs use that didgeridoo?
no from memory this may be one of a very few, they do use a lot of folk instrumentation though
