Great point, the straddle lets you choose either foot to be behind the marker disc. And the straddle can be stretched out even further to either side. In the woods, this is a big deal.
First of all, best intro ive seen in a while! Second, i see you Robbie C with the Avatar: The Last Airbender reference! Well done sir, loved the video.
Thanks for the tips Robbie i have been looking for putting tips like these because before i was focused on getting better with push putting and spin putting and both werent comfortable for me and my putting game was going downhill and i eventually swapped to a putting technique that was basically it was a hybrid between the 2 and now im making 90% more putts but these will definetly help with my putting even more.
I can think of 4 basic stances that are very effective on approach including straddle of course ! . I go by feeling with a touch of logic in that decision - I don't worry about what I saw on the youtube! 😅
@Robbie okay I find straddle putting easier from 25-30 foot in a head wind but once I'm at the same distance in a tail wind...esp when putting uphill I find it feeling as though I'm losing all my power in my spin putt and can't find that higher aiming point accounting for the wind and distance I know I need to accommodate for the wind dropping my putter while trying to avoid the object that I've to straddle around, most times than not if I have a 30' straddle in a tail wind uphill or not I find myself always just pitching up bc I lack the confidence to throw my spin putt into an uphill tailwind at 30-40' away...any thoughts on this? loved the video btw great job ! #airbender LOL
Putting has been a big strugglr for me last few months and i switched to a straddle dominant putt about 2 weeks ago and my putt has never felt better. For me atleast it is easier to putt straight and centered from the straddle.
Hey, Robbie. I’ve been experimenting with a straddle putt lately. Overall it works well. But I’ve been struggling on side hill putts. It’s hard to get an even push from both legs. Do you have any tips for this situation? Should I use a stagger in these places?
Just curious. You're putting on a relatively steep downward slope. Open look but you're putting from up on a hill downward and must use straddle. Curious about how that would work. Not being a prick. I would like to have a straddle technique from uphill. Learned that yeah I'm not Kevin Jones so trying to do a Kevin Jones impression will work too well.
It's easiest to practice both stances equally. It doesn't take that much time. If you're throwing 300 putts per practice, throw 150 each. For instance, doing the 3 disc drill, complete it using both stances. A huge benefit of doing this is when your putting is a bit off on a round, you can switch stances and often the other stance will be fine or better for the round.
Agreed. I studied Tattar in slow motion from the side to understand how she has the power to straddle without jumping from distance. I putt like Kristin 80 to 90% of the time in C1. Very accurate. I'll never go back.
@@michaelcushman yeah I don’t think she really has any jump to her motion until edge or outside C2. Mostly arm inside C1, and a little bit of legs in C2, but just has the wrist action totally dialed.
those thighs are doing a lot more than make you woozy, she's putting a decent amount of leg into it. You gotta figure, the leg is one part of the straddle can can only accelerate towards the basket
I used to be a staggered player, during my straddle practice, I slowly started realizing I was quite a bit better as a straddle putter😂 Even though I'm more uncomfortable standing like that, my putt percentage is way higher
I think, at least for me, my biggest concern with the straddle put is the foot placement. With the stagger, one foot is definitely behind the disc and in position behind my lie. With straddle, to get my feet in the right place, I feel like I'm almost angling my body away from the disc (to make sure my "off foot?" is behind the lie), making it almost a wide stagger, instead of a straddle. Or, when I get it "right", I'm so distracted by my feet I'm not really doing the right things with my hands at the end. I understand a lot of what I said, is a lack of experience, but it feels almost overwhelming trying to sort out.
I definitely gotta give my straddle putts some more **pop**. I've been trying to practice some awkward putts whenever I can, just pretending there's a tree in the way or whatever, do a super wide straddle or get on one knee. Seems about half the time, or more, I have to throw an anny around a tree, or squat way down to avoid a branch, or throw a jump putt uphill or whatever so it doesn't make too much sense to just throw flat putts over and over.
the more you put a disc in your hand the more it becomes an extension of your hand. Throwing 200 - 300 putts per day you won't need to practice weird shots as much as you might think.
Nope. I am still laying up that putt!😆 Super funny introduction! Putting is just driving me insane right now -- same thing over and over with the same results. So, thanks for the laugh and the encouragement.
Frankly I find it is easiest for me to work on form/technique when I'm physically exhausted. Because you don't have your normal athleticism to mask mistakes. So you have to make sure you're using good form. That being said this doesn't really apply to putting I haven't been so tired where I couldn't accidentally muscle a putt.
"Like we wish the Fire Nation would have" 😂
Toph was definitely a straddle putter
Doctor Dennis the disc dentist. Pluckin drivers out my bag and putting braces on my stagger stance 😂😂😂
I switched to a straddle several months ago as my primary style. It has definitely helped keeping my putts on the pole (for the most part).
Great point, the straddle lets you choose either foot to be behind the marker disc. And the straddle can be stretched out even further to either side. In the woods, this is a big deal.
If your putts last more than four hours, immediately reach out and thank your doctor. Another great video!
What I didn't expect to learn from this video is that Robbie could probably cut up a dance floor with the way this overexaggerating looked lol
I actually started with the straddle putt. Just recently switched. Mostly because I am finally putting from outside wooded areas.
First of all, best intro ive seen in a while! Second, i see you Robbie C with the Avatar: The Last Airbender reference! Well done sir, loved the video.
I’m going to work on this today.
Great and helpful information as usual. I am one of those “skeered” straddle putters I will have to start trying them again
For sure - have been focusing on this since you first recommended varying putting styles in practice. It's been very helpful.
Great video! Man to be abke to generate the power calvin has in putting. Granted he has longer levers than most, but it looks soooo easy!
It's so easy to get stuck in my own head when I putt. Love the tips to help expand my toolbox.

Thanks for the tips. Your channel is very helpful.
@9:45 - any real world use of the Turbo Putt Robbie? In a game and it worked?
great tips Robbie!
Loved the Avatar reference!💧🪨💨🔥
Thank you

These putting tips came right on time! Robbie you mind reader you 😂
Nice video. Everyone should look at Kristin Tattar for a great example of straddle putting.

I’m thinking about switching to a straddle. It just eliminates some of the variability that causes me to miss right and left
You're the man Robbie. Hopefully I can just plug in a USB into my arm and download your putt in the next couple years.
I made my first jump putt with a straddle stance from 85 ft

In short just look at Kristin Tattar, probably the best (spinny) straddle putter in the world.

Did you also stayed at a Holiday Inn last night????

sometimes ! LOL you have a point but not always practical due to sometimes being gassed out you have no mental game.
Trust me! I’m a doctor! Where have I heard that before ha
Sick shirt flippy?
Roland
foot fault
I try to sit into my heels when I come down slow and off the balls of my feet, making sure my head is still and chin level.
Thank you
