    Hey, would this jacket be good for everyday usage (wind/rain some hiking etc)? And also what size would I get if I plan to use it as a standalone and not for layering? I typically get a small in most jackets so would I grab a small or size down?

    • @meandmyjackets

      Yes, it's a great all-around shell. However, the GoreTex infinium is not as waterproof as other GoreTex jackets are. It's better at being windproof than waterproof. It will give some rain protection, but as much as the Betas or alphas. Still, a really nice versatile jacket.

    Very good review. I cycle to work for about 45 minutes one way. Could you possibly recommend a jacket and pants that would be suitable for all weather conditions?

    • @meandmyjackets

      The Kadin is nice, windproof, but not very waterproof. You may want to check out the Norvan shell jacket. (not the Norvan Windshell). The norvan is a goretex jacket that will be light weight, waterproof and windproof. It does have a trimmer fit, so heavier layers may not fit very well under it. The Beta jackets may also be an option, with more room to layer if needed.

    Looking for a lightweight jacket and would love any guidance you have to compare the Kadin, Solano & Gamma Lightweight jackets that I’m considering! 👍

    • @meandmyjackets
      @meandmyjackets  4 месяца назад +1

      The gamma and Kadin are shells. The Solano is more of a jacket, as it has a soft lining inside. The gamma is stretchy and durable for activities like climbing. The Kadin is a windproof shell good for hiking. A nice lightweight jacket is the proton and / or Atom Lightweights.

      Just personally, The gamma SL (lightweight) is one of my favorite jackets. It's great by itself in warmer weather, or on top of other light layers.

    Love watching all yours videos, how does the Kadin Hoody compare to the Proton Hybrid Hoody, and which one do you prefer, thanks very much.

    • @meandmyjackets

      I see the Kadin as a goreTex Infinium softshell, and I see the Proton hybrid as a lightweight jacket with GoreTex Infinium on the top half of the jacket. The Proton does have some insulation, only in the front. If you need a lightweight windproof softshell, the Kadin is very nice. I use the Proton Hybrid as an everyday lightweight jacket in spring and fall. I like the Proton a lot, but it's just my use and opinion.

    Trying to pick one between the new Gamma Hoody and Kadin Hoody,which will do better in urban activities?

    • @meandmyjackets
      @meandmyjackets  6 месяцев назад

      I would say the Kadin. It will give you better wind protection, it's lighter, and it has a smaller hood. The Gamma has a large helmet compatible hood that you won't need, with increased stretch and abrasion resistance for climbing. You will not need that either. The Kadin is a nice jacket to wear over other layers too.

    Would you say this is a good piece to throw over a fleece for added warmth?
    I’m talking 40-50 degrees, standing still.

    • @meandmyjackets
      @meandmyjackets  7 месяцев назад

      The fleece will be your warmth, the kadin is just a shell to help block wind. It will help keeping you warm by keeping the cold wind out, but it will not provide any more warmth to your fleece. I would want an insulation layer that will keep me warm enough in that temperature stand alone first, then add the kadin to block the even colder wind.

    Hello and thank you for your videos. I'm trying to decide between this and Sawyer. Which one do you prefer and why?

    • @meandmyjackets
      @meandmyjackets  6 месяцев назад +1

      I really like the Sawyer, but that's just my opinion, and how I use it. The Sawyer is much heavier, and designed for more urban use. It does not have many "technical" features. The kadin is nice, but much lighter. It just depends on your use. The Kadin would be great for hiking, trekking, or even maybe trail running.

    Does anyone else have a bad experience with velcro/hook & loop cuffs on this one? They don't hold properly.

    • @meandmyjackets
      @meandmyjackets  7 месяцев назад

      I did not see a problem with the one I bought when I tested it. However, I did feel that the velcro flaps seemed a bit thin. Make sure that the velcro (hooks and loops) are clean, no lint, hair or debris. All of my other jackets are good, no problems with the velcro.

    how well does the G infinium handle rain compared to actual goretex

    • @meandmyjackets
      @meandmyjackets  Год назад

      The Gore-Tex Infinium is definitely more windproof than it is waterproof. It has a DWR coating which helps to repel light rain, but not nearly as "waterproof" as a Beta or Alpha Goretex shell. A really nice fabric, feels a bit "softer" and a bit more "flexible" than regular goretex shells. But if you need something waterproof, this is not your best choice.

      @@meandmyjackets I guess im looking for something light and waterproof thats packable when needed. The alpha AR seems loud and crinkly when wearing and a little overkill for everyday stuff

    • @AreaCode4hoe8
      @AreaCode4hoe8 Год назад +1

      @@HDBnB1 no experience but I wouldn’t go with it due to the outside being 80D fabric (thicker for more durability but less breathable), no pit zips, nor adjustable sleeve cuffs, it has regular goretex which makes it louder.
      Both regular beta and beta lightweight have goretex c knit which is quieter and more breathable along with 40D fabric (sweet spot for most l)
      Beta has no pitzips and a regular hood with adjustable sleeve cuffs. Perfect for casual use
      Beta lightweight has the pit zips and a helmet compatible hood and adjustable sleeve cuffs.
      If you’re going to do high exertion hiking I definitely recommend the pit zips.
      What’s your use case for one?

    how does it compare warmth wise to the gamma mx? warmer? cooler? same?

    • @meandmyjackets
      @meandmyjackets  Год назад +1

      The gamma mx is heavier, warmer as it has a fleece backing. This does not. The kadin has a thinner GoreTex outer fabric, the gamma mx is a bit 'tougher' outer fabric. Making it I would think more durable as well.

      @Me And My Jackets thanks for the reply! I'm trying to decide on a light jacket that's durable and wind/water resistant but for warmer weather so im not overheating. I'm worried the gamma hybrid might be too flimsy and the gamma lt might be too warm idk... lol
