Shore diving in Egypt, that's hard work! Having been to Taba and Sharm, there was no shore diving option either in my hotel/resort, despite what the holiday brochure said!. All you get is all day boat trips with a very hard upsell for extra dives, to 3, wow!. No thanks. A killer for a diving/non-diving couple.

Great info about where to get the most bang for the buck. And like Adam already said the difference in the two animals (Manatee vs. Dugong) is the tail. The Manatee is a single blade like a beaver and the Dugong a split fluke joined in the middle.

Love this channel. But again a wee comment. Manatees are much larger with a curved tail (Dugong is a more pointy fish like tail). They also differ in skin texture as the Dugong is far smoother. Hope it helps.

Bonaire is a must dive destination. Was there in 2019. We stayed at Buddy Dive. Highly recommended.

Cozumel was very much the same as what you said about the Bahamas. We went last year to a resort and had an all-inclusive with on-site diving for what was actually less money than we would've spent for an equivalent resort in Cancun or Playa del Carmen without the diving. We had a two tank boat dive every morning and then added on additonal dives (wreck, night, etc) to a few of the afternoons/evenings as well.

Hi James and Matthias, great video and very informative. You have set up a great channel James. Being from Oz I am lucky to have Indonesia on our doorstep. We think it is also a fantastic value for money destination. We recently booked a 8D/7N trip to Komodo with Scuba Junkie. The cost per day for accommodation (A/C), all meals and snacks, tea/coffee and most importantly 3 x boat dives per day in Komodo National Park is only US$120 per day (AU$164), also unlimited diving on the house reef. Hopefully travel opens up again soon so we can all get underwater at our favourite spots. Darren, Renmark, South Australia

I live in Indonesia and im surprised they didn't mention it. Especially as James did his DM training there. Its super affordable and tons of shore entry dives.

I’m a liveaboard diver through and through, no easier way to get in 4-5 dives a day. And still the destinations have a lot of crossover! I don’t think anyone can beat Blackbeard’s Bahamas for cost per dive with amazing diving, although it is camping at sea and not for everyone.

Here in Guam is super affordable for diving and training. Getting here is another story though. Lots of neat wrecks like the WWI and WWII ships that actually touch.

James, maybe you could review and compare the GoPro vs. Paralenz for us that love to dive and want to record some footage but don’t want to invest a lot into more complicated camera setups.

Both Indonesia and Malaysia belong on this list, not to mention amazing and affordable topside. It was in Indonesia that I found $18 boat dives, equipment rental included. I do not think anywhere in the Caribbean can truly compare with the "Big Four" - Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, and Thailand - in both quality of diving and cost effectiveness.

Hi, first, a Dugong has a similar tail fin as a dolphin, a Manatee ha a very round tail fin as a huge spoon! I also think Manatees are those which are in Florida! That's what I know about those two species!
Regarding diving on a budget? I can not say to much because I like diving around nice hotels and resorts wich makes it way more expensive. Where I used to stay the diving is way more expensive. Exsamlpe, I dove with Prodivers at the Maledives. Very good service very good dive sides, great boat diving (they do not put your gear together you need to do this by your own wich I love) It is great but, not the cheapest!

Agree with almost all destinations. In the overall picture, do not underestimate the food in Thailand as a very, very, nice bonus.

I’m not 100% sure where to ask this (since I don’t have twitter), but I am hoping to eventually land a job in diving. Not as an instructor, the Gail is to work for shark research groups or something related. I’ve been an elasmobranchologist for 5 years now but haven’t finished my diving certs yet. Would I need to go all the way to Divemaster if I’m not trying to be an instructor?
