It may be obvious but Slimecicle is in fact known as “that guy who makes the puns” in his fandom, and Jort Storm is really a perfect example of his immaculate ability of pun-making
If he is with Tommy the puns are about come.
did you know there are pun competitions, and pun championships that go international? I just found that out, and it's awesome.
Slime circle for spiderman
They may both be storm related, but what's really bizarre is that they're both technically pirate songs
Wait...how is Jort Storm a pirate song?
@@Insaneian Long story. Slimecicle has a Dungeons and Dragons podcast with a few friends called Just Roll With It. One of their canoaigns, called Riptide, is pirate themed. During that campaign, Slimecicle's character and the rest of the pirate crew were pretending to be pants salesmen, so he disguised himself... as a "pants elemental" named Jort Storm. For the next episode, he wanted to make a song commemorating the one-off joke character as the intro. (They actually do joke songs recapping previous events quite often). Thus he found an instrumental and wrote the namesake song Jort Storm during a stream. So despite having nothing regarding piracy lyrically, it does originate from a pirate story.
@@CaptainJackson430 huh. Neat! Thanks for the info!
@@Insaneian A lot of their parody songs for their pirate campaign is unironically really good (Horse that knew ya, a parody of "Hallelujah", is another brilliant example for Charlie). Sadly I believe none of them are made into their own video, so the only way to listen to them is to watch the podcast's episodes themselves.
@@Insaneianglad you enjoyed the JortLore
Slimecicle is in fact "the absurd jokes guy", along with "the bad but funny jokes guy", along with "the repeatedly saying the same funny joke guy", along wit-
Slimecicle is great if you love wordplay, its like 92% of his humor
This is actually so true.
fun fact! charlie made that kazoo solo at the end in one try on a malfunctioning kazoo
I loved in the stream whenever he got a lyric or something he liked he would look so excited
I'm so glad you discovered the masterpiece that is Jortstorm. Fun fact, the entire reason he made this song was because in the D&D campaign he's part of (Just Roll With It), his party all had to come up with disguises, and he decided to disguise himself as, you guessed it, a Jort Storm.
As a JRWI High Roller supporter, I can confirm this is absolute fact.
do you know witch ep of just roll with it is his song in?
I thought it was just a jort salesman, and he canonically made the song to sell more jorts? Or am I hallucinating
@@renfields1415 he used the song in the intro of #103 of Riptide, though the episode where he disguised himself as the Jort Storm was #102
19:05 If you weren’t expecting any more puns, you obviously don’t know Mr. Charlie Cornelius Slimecicle very well.
“So come down today, and buy some corn, or we will sacrifice your newborn *demonic screaming* “
-Colonel Cornelius Cornwall, corn
I'd also love to point out the layers of genius (jeanius?) even as early as 'recessive gene'
Yes, gene/jean, BUT
What is a Jort if not jeans that have receded to become shorter.
The Jort is LITERALLY a recessive jean
😶
bruh.
Slimecicle is an accidental genius in lyrics, even in puns
@@attackoramic8361*jeanius
@@attackoramic8361 im not convinced it was an accident
I'd like to emphasize this...the lyrics of jort storm were made in an HOUR on a Livestream.
Thanks for reacting to it! I had to share this absolute gem. I hope you have a great d-aaaaaaaaah *jortex noises*
"just when i thought there weren't going to be any more puns..." spoken by someone who has clearly never been slimed. what a wonderful video
“I got a genetic test but all my genes were shorts” is a hard ass bar
I can't explain it, but something about a guy picking apart and overanalysing the comedy behind jort storm has me in tears
i never realized the geniousness behind Jortex... I just never paid enough attention to notice that vortex starts with (x)-o-r-t just like jorts
And that's why I do this show, lol 😅
A general observation I've made with portmanteaus is that the more letters they share in the middle, the better it works. In jORTex, half the letters are shared (and 75% of jort), so it works really well.
Nobody seems to notice that the "Jultists" (Hilarious, I know) are doing the GANGNAM STYLE when Jorthulu is introduced.
I noticed that the first time, had me dying lmao
the funniest thing about this is that this joke came from the dnd campain where he pretended to be a jort sailsman named "jort storm"
charlie slimecicle is absolutely one of the most funny people ever, he's also really good at acting and storytelling. he's awesome
@KrimsonKatastrophe fr omg
Seeing people reacing to Charlie Slimecicle's antics and creations gotta be a new bobby of my
“A song recommended by many people” I’m many people!! But thank you for reacting to Jort Storm! I’m a voracious Slimecicle fan so I’m very happy you liked it!!
If you like the wordplay in Jort Storm, please watch more of Charlie's content. his entire style of humor is wordplay and puns.
listening to Ian explain the comlexities of the word "Jortex" is exactly why I subscribed
I cannot believe you reacted to jort storm... thats not a bad thing I just didn't expect it...
I got a lot of a requests for it!
@@Insaneian I mean it is a good song. or should I say... Jong?
Oh hell yeah, Jort Storm! Love Slimecicle! And he loves... Jorts. For some reason. It's honestly a little worrying at this point, I think he needs help.
you missed the fact the cultists were doing the Gangnam style when summoning jorthulu
He didn’t rhyme Gene wih Jean in the first verse, he rhymes it with seam and supreme.. I don’t know if that’s much better tho
Recessive jean, because the jeans only go down to the knee. Also, his mom dressed casually, (shorts,) and his dad preened, (jeans,) so the recessive gene would be neither casual nor focused on appearance. Apparently jeans are neither comfy nor good looking. I will never try them.
its funny how he made jort storm in like 1 or 2h on stream cause he had to finish it quickly
OMG I remember Shit Boat!! My old school’s mascot was the Pirates and Talk Like a Pirate Day was like a national holiday lol. (I actually almost got in trouble for recommending this song in the stands during football season 😅 we were small but very aggressive 🤣)
Also JORTSTORM???? OMG I DIED WHEN THAT CAME OUT 😭😭 fuckin love that guy lmao. Very much enjoyed this week’s reaction!
Im finding you everywhere
It's perfect that he reacted to jortstorm on talk like a pirate day because jortstorm is inspired by a bit slimecicle did in a dnd pirate campaign he is apqrt of.
I loved Jort storm I am so happy you reacted to it!
21:44 I’m not sure if everyone noticed but the cult members are hitting the Gangnam style
I did and OH MY GOD THE JANGNAM JYLE
ian is way too impressed by slimcicle adding j to the beginning of words
Slime also did some songs a couple years ago for some games he played and still does occasionally for intros to the dnd podcast he is a part of just roll with it like this one. The other one that blew up semirecently is juanaflippa for the egg he was taking care of in a minecraft server which was a parody of peaches from the mario movie
i witnessed this man snap for the first time and it was to jortex
honestly i reccomend watching the stream where he made this song, its about an hour long, its so funny to see how these genius lyrics were put together
11:12 Slimecicle actually didn’t rhyme jean with gene. He rhymed preen with gene!
fun fact: your whole explanation about gene and jean working well together because they're spelled differently despite being pronounced the same was also said by Stephen Sondheim in his books about writing musicals
Glad that someone else agreed that Jortex is an amazing gift of a word
You really should look at the musical "The guy who didn't like musicals" if you've not already seen Starkids work
Maybe also "I am the very model of a scientist salarian" and try to understand it
Twisted is also one of Starkids' best. There is an amazing amimatic of the opening song "Dream a litte harder". For context Twisted is a parody of Aladdin
amazing. moving. truly my favourite video from your channel.
Cool thing is Slimecicle came up with most of the lyrics live on stream
9:12 "Fannybaws". IIRC, it's some kind of Scottish slang term.
Also, the captions for Alestorm songs are written by Christopher Bowes, the lead singer, and will often have jokes and commentary in them.
Its hilarious how you take each pun's definition so seriously🤣
7:07
Poopdeck is the correct name for the deck that makes the roof of the rear cabin, that collapsed in the video.
So it's not redundant, it's just a pun.
in the version he made on stream, charlie made the lyrics for the parents part as "my moms dresses cas(ual) and my dad likes supreme" as in the brand supreme but couldnt use it in the radio edit (the one youre reacting to) cuz hed have to get the rights to reference the brand
I mean, that's not necessarily true. While yes, in the past some companies have taken issue with their product being mentioned (most notably Coca-Cola in "Lola" by The Kinks) others usually don't mind (especially if it's usage is favorable), and some have even paid the ARTIST for mentioning them, as they viewed it as "brand placement" advertising (see also: rappers and cristal).
That said, supreme is also JUST A WORD that existed before the brand, so even if he used it, it shouldn't be an issue because calling something supreme just means it's "superior to all others" 😅
@@Insaneian while true, you can never be too careful!
Fun fact Jort story was made for his Dnd podcast that he runs with his three friends who are also RUclipsrs each episode they take turns making the intro where they recap and this was one of the times for Charlie he made this song on stream with his chat helping him
ah, yes. another one enters the hivemind of slimecicle enjoyers.
Boy we got to it JORT STORM!!!
Holy shit! Thanks a lot for following up on my request to see Jort Storm, you rock dude!
Btw "recessive jeans" also makes sense cause theyre jeans that recede
For more comedy metal I would highly recommend that you take a look at Valhalleluja by Nanowar of Steel if you haven't seen it. A metal band of mad Italians pretending to be Swedish and singing a viking christmas song. Maybe save that for December though.
Recessive Jean is unbelievable
9:08 - So I don't see any mention of this in the comments, so I'll just drop this here: The first of the two Alestorm songs we hear little snippets of is titled "Fannybaws". In the politest terms possible, the word "fannybaws" is a regional slang term for female genitalia, and the members of Alestorm thought it was HILARIOUS when someone called them that at one point, hence using it for the name of one of their characters.
Something similar happened when someone from another metal band who had one-sided beef with them called them "rumpelkombo" (another regional slang term that doubles as a low-level insult). Their response? To include a three-second-long "song" on their next album, consisting of just a burst of drumming and a few guitar strums with the band all yelling "RUM-PEL-KOM-BO!" precisely ONCE, and then they CREDITED THAT GUY for both the song's title and "lyrics", so anytime someone buys the album or even just that "song", he'd be sent a notification that he got a royalty from something on their discography. A petty little gift that just keeps on giving! 🤣
That's brilliant 🤣
Welcome back to another episode of Explaining the Joke.
I mean...I did warn you I do that.
Technically alestorm is a specific subgenre of metal called pirate metal
Personally favourites include kheelhauled, shipwrecked and Mexico but they have some other great songs like a cover of you are a pirate from lazy town and fucked by an anchor which you need to listen to
Fun fact: the summoning dance for Jorthulu is gangnam style!!!
I do wonder what Ian thinks of the original vocals, or would think of if he hasn’t heard them yet, since some of them were changed for the music video’s release
You need to watch more slimecicle
Bro did NOT need to analyse each jort disaster for 10 mins
@@Ahyes1 I sure did. I mean, that's sort of the point of my video. I react and analyze. 🤷♂️
NO WAY JORTSTORM REACTION???
Slimecicle is the greatest Kazoo player ever
Slimecicle made Jort Storm as an intro to one episode of his DnD podcast.
The chalk eaters just released the next song called one more pull and it’s a song making fun of genshin impact
This is what reaction content should be
please tell me i'm not the only one hearing "Take On Me" starting at minute 21:00 VERY faintly in the background
JORT STORM
he never rhymed gene with jean :( 11:00
He totally does tho. That timestamp shows it exactly. He rhymes jean, seam, preen and gene...they all rhyme with each other, thereby rhyming jean with gene.
Yaaay Slime mention
He's the pun master
ALERT! ALERT! NEW TOM CARDY VIDEO! IT'S A BANGER!
Which one? H.S I already reacted to, and Perception Check should be next week's. 😅
@@Insaneian yeah Perception Check was what I meant
Jean rhymed with seam didnt it?
If you're a fan of pirate metal, especially if you enjoyed Alestorm's 'Shit Boat' I'd highly recommend 'YO HO! (PEG THE POOPDECK)' by TheDooo
I liked Alestorm but ive never seen this one before. Jortex was an amazing pun. I've never heard jorts here which shows regional differences.
The dress um, transition(?) kind of reminded me of an anime opening. Is that weird?
It's a bit "magical girl", yes
22:20 Take On Me in the background?
JORTSTORM 🎉🎉
Oh wow I got this quick
You should not we’re jorts in pool 8 days a week
Ahh alestorm thats not something I would expect to see on your channel.
Considering they claimed the reaction, it might be the last time you'll see them too.
@@Insaneian that just sucks.
@@riseofevillink AGREED
It's not funny or enjoyable if you have to stop the video and explain every joke.
Almost 25k people would disagree with you, but ok. Just not for you, then.
Thats the whole idea of "reacting" if you don't like it. Watch it yourself
i
s that Rick Astley's Never ;gonna give you up more co..mmonly known as the Rick Roll in the backgrou;nd?????????
They got the right deck for the poop deck joke at least
