For 'three exhibits perished on a stage', the animating force behind the animatronics coming to life are, indeed, the souls of children that the series' antagonist (AKA 'Purple Guy') had killed.
I feel like if he is doing a series he doesn't fully know, maybe a crossover? I promise if you ask MatPat he will somehow always talk FNaF, then He'll understand references.
I'm confused about that line too, the kids didn't die on a stage. They clearly say the exhibits perish on the stage, but in that shot you see almost nothing happen aside from their eyes glow, which doesn't give 'perishing' vibes. Also, it's implied that these aren't the original animatronics, these are the display animatronics for the con they're at. So it feels a bit preposterous to say this line is talking about the kids.
Fun Fact about the animatronics very creative names, they were supposed to be temporary but Scott got so attached to them that he just made them the names
I might be reaching, but I *_believe_* the “crowbar to the knee” bit is an (albeit niche) callback to a classic FNAF fanmade animated comedic shorts saga by Piemations called “5AM at Freddy’s”. Spoilers: at the end of “The Sequel” (based ironically on the third game) it features Springtrap getting a crowbar to the knee by the security guard (provided by Phantom Foxy per “I dunno, I’m bored”). It’s really stupid but I’m pretty confident that’s the only “crowbar to the knee” thing of much significance in the FNAF scene lol 😅
First got introduced to fnaf in 2014 when I was 10, though didn't get properly into it until sister location came out (still don't play the games myself lol, but I watch playthroughs & many theories) It's definitely crazy thinking about how much time's gone by since then
As a FNaF lore expert, I'm gonna run through this and break down some lines you didn't get. Obviously I too will miss a ton of stuff, but this should at least cover a decent amount. "With a bit of grit till the beak of dawn we're withering a bit" - Reference to the Withered Animatronics from FNaF 2. "They theorize a lore out of a single page" - Reference to how there are many singular pages in many of the FNaF books that entirely recontextualize *everything* about the story and are still debated on many years later. "Just focus on the fan and breathe" - There's an ongoing joke in the FNaF community that the desk fan seen throughout the games is evil/the main villain of the franchise, which this is probably supposed to tangentially reference. Mat's entire section is a reference to the FNaF 1 phone call. Matpat's phone verse ending with "SKIP" is a reference both to the player's ability to skip the phone calls and the fact the Matpat has a cat named Skip. "We're your bite of '24" - Reference to the Bite of '87, or the Bite of '83. The Bite of '87 isn't *that* significant - it just got the location of one of the games shut down. The Bite of '83 is one of the most important moments in the entirety of the FNaF timeline, resulting in the death of Dave (or Evan, if you still buy the old theory of the Logbook for some reason or other [or Garret, if you incorrectly assume the continuities of the movie, books, and games to be interchangeable]), and arguably what led William Afton to going down the path that would make him the child-murdering body-possessing ai-reincarnating hell-escaping thrice-revived quadra-immortal demigod we know him as today. "Their loud breathing makes us laugh a little bit" - Reference to how you have to listen for the animatronics breathing through your doors in FNaF 4. "Throw in your customs nights and days" - Every FNaF game gives you a 'custom night' after you beat the game that allows you to choose to ai strength of each animatronic before the night starts. Final thoughts: Not *nearly* as dense as I expected. I was fully ready to explain the nuances of the difference between Fazgoo, Remnant, Dark Remnant, and Agony, but I'm kinda glad I don't have to get that deep into it. Pretty impressed by the song, overall - I think the relative simplicity probably works in its favor here.
I think theorizing the lore out of a single page is a metaphor for how the games are typically very short and usually take place within a single building, and when contrasted against open world games, are clearly comically small in scope. Yet FNAF gets more lore theorizing than most of these open world games combined.
At 14:26, one of the little touches I love is that as they talk about the creators like Tombstone who helped bring more life to the FNAF universe...the background music incorporates the musical hook 'Five Nights at Freddy's - is this where you want to be?' from Tombstone's first FNAF song.
On where people are in the track, they're generally background for this track because it's sung in Professor Chalk's Point of View, however after the kids "Shut up!" MatPat, each of Dheusta, in particular Stupes (Theo is their character, the proper nerd, obviously) and OR3O (in order) sing a bar (and cycle again) for the "origin of the fans" Also; the two Indies you missed on Chalk's to-do list are "Iron Lung" (Feature Length film produced my Markiplier coming... soon? Mark's having a time, it's done, but he's having a TIME.) and "Hades" also amazing. Similarly; the notes in Theo's notebook on "Strategies for (surviving?) Animatronics" are all ways in which the Animatronics have been "beaten" With a little jab being played with "Turn them into Marketable Plushies". In particular, in the game "Ultimate Custom Night" (Custom night is a game mode in game that lets you customize a hard gameplay session, thusly "Custom nights and days") "Rockstar Chica" can only be deterred by moving a wet floor sign over to her entrance, as she is paranoid of slipping.
Honestly as someone who to like the characters in this video has grown up with the FNAF franchise I can absolutely relate to them and oddly enough I haven’t had a situation like them in the song where I have had to introduce FNAF to someone who doesn’t understand any of it but if I do find myself in that predicament I’ll make sure to have this song playing in my head as I try to explain it

There's a bit where they're all on screen in a discord call, so from that we can tell Damian is the music guy, as his screen name was DamWantsToJam (probably a reference to NateWantsToBattle) Theo is the tall guy with the bowtie and theory fan, Alex is the girl with blue hair (and seems to be trans given the differences between her present and past self, based), the artist is Julia and the gamer with the mask is ChEaTcOdEy (the best name here)
ChEaTcOdEy if I'm not wrong is the protagonist of previous Chalkeaters song "Lock Me Up" I guess he's part of Professor Chalk's classes. the other characters I believe have previously appeared in previous Professor Chalk based songs like Songus Amongus, One More Pull, Rollout the Fallout and I think that's it for songs that featured Professor Chalk's class. It also seems like the voices are consistent since Stupendium also voiced Theo in Rollout The Fallout for a single line though I don't know if that's true for the rest of the characters.
Addendum none of the class have any speaking lines in Songus Amongus and only one to two of the characters seem to have actually been designed at all at that point...
13:42 Btw "puts you back together" is a reference to phrase said by the main antagonist of the games I think the phrase is something like "You're broken. I will put you back together" (he said it to his son who was about to die) It says other times in fnaf media referencing this
That Atari is a reference to the games during nights or after deaths or whatever bollocks they hide them behind (a grid of cement blocks where you have to use it like a keypad to type the hexidecimal code for purple backwards as a real example) you can play small minigames designed to emulate Atari graphics (not really though they were made in blender so the pixels were way off) that held the lore and in a couple you control the animatronics
Doom and Street Fighter have a decent amount of lore outside the games. For instance Doom 2 and onwards happens because the demons killed Daisy. There's quite a bit more lore than that if you go looking making Prof Chalk's line about a single page kinda ironic. Doom's canon timeline (including expansions): Doom 1, Doom 2, Doom 64, Doom (2016), and Doom Eternal. The kids of FNAF in the song were introduced in their own songs by the Chalkeaters. For instance the Video Gamer is from the song they had about playing games during the quarantine and not even noticing what's happening outside. They weren't joking when they said Chalkeaters AU. The Bonnie Fight was a Friday Night Funkin reference. The kids each fulfill a role: artist, musician, video gamer, and cosplayer. BlackGryph0n is in some Brony songs making the line ironic. This song has a specific focus on FNAF but is about Fandoms in general. The Living Tombstone very recently released a fully orchestrated remake of their original FNAF song. The music video features the orchestra playing and singing it.
11:45 -Doors and lights the only defense you have in Fnaf 1 -music and audio lures Music is used to sedate a specific animatronic in Fnaf 2, with audio lures of children laughing being used in Fnaf 3 to lure away animatronics. -controlled shock In Fnaf: sister location (or fnaf 5), if animatronics are out of place, you use electrocution to shock them until they go back to their stage, which is referred to by the narrator/instructional voice as a controlled shock -eye contact (they are shy) Animatronics in the first three games can’t move while you look at them on the cameras. -FIRE in fnaf 3, fire is used to burn down the building after night 5 in an attempt to get rid of the animatronics for good. It fails. They try it again in fnaf 6, and it kind of sort of works but not really, and then they do it again in Fnaf: security breach, which also doesn’t work. You think they’d learn. -Poverty fazbear entertainment is a comedically evil, money hungry company, and will shut down anything that doesn’t make money. Also likely a reference to fnaf 6, in which you run your own pizzeria, and one possible ending is bankruptcy. -Crowbar to the knee As explained in another comment, this is a deep cut reference to a popular fnaf fan animation series called Five AM at Freddy’s. -Turn them into marketable plushies A meme within the community that stems from the VR game, in which the main threat of the game is indeed transformed into a plushie. -Hoover jumpscare There’s a minor character in the fnaf series named Mr. Hugs, who is a “animatronic” that is just a vacuum with googly eyes and plastic hands taped on. In the game ultimate custom night, which is sort of a joke game, one of the animatronics has retired from killing you and is a gamer. He’s playing a simplified version of the first fnaf game called “Five nights at mr hugs” on one of the cameras, which features Mr hugs as the only animatronic. You have to help him not lose throughout the night, otherwise he will blame it on you and kill you. -slippery floor In the same game, there is an animatronic that is defended against by putting a wet floor sign in front of a the door she tries to enter from.
The "indie to catch up on" that that you couldn't read was 'OneShot'. It's a cute little game about a kid holding a light bulb. Apparently, it was made in RPG maker, which is wild to me since the game has some of the most unique mechanics I have ever seen in a video game.
I did not expect to be reminded about It is Pitch Dark, wow, big flashback to the early 2000s listening to funny nerd music on my extremely shitty ibm laptop. "you are likely to be eaten by a grue" was something me and my friends parroted to eachother
Alright, no one's mentioned my favorite meta humor moment here in the comments (at least as far as I've seen) so I'm mention it. The "Do bronies make art" line is a bit of irony because Professor Chalk is voiced by a brony. Those of us in the MLP fandom know Black-Gryph0n well for things like his Twilight-licious video and his Beat It parody.
The wet floor sign is a reference to ultimate custom night rockstar chica is afraid of wet floor signs This video is packed with references so obviously I’m not going to give you them all
The song also represents all of the different kinds of people in the fnaf community like the cosplayers, the theorists, the gamers, the artists and the musiciens
about friday night funkin, the scene at 25:00 is a direct reference to it, especially with the pose of the girl sitting on the console matching FNF's Girlfriend. And a good show that the setting lives even in other games thanks to mods
Guys. I have to give congrats to Ian, he finally ironed out his intro 11:26 it is commonly said as “fuh naf” 25:44 imagine getting scared off by someone wearing your head from someone’s dreams
I've been reading through the comments to see if someone mentioned this, but no one did or at least I didn't see it... so I'll do it! The joke you laughed about the kiss your Fazz goodbye, as in kiss your ass goodbye, has a third layer on top of it... and is a part of the lore that almost everyone hates, or at least I do... There is a thing in the books that is called Faz-Goo... and from what I vagely remember, Faz-Goo is like a living, creepy slime that can learn about a person, make a replica of them, and eventually replace them, in a horrifying way... The worst thing is that I think it was marketed as a toy for kids, like for doing a lab experiment at home or something like that... yeah... FNAF lore is a doozie...
11:26 this might be a reference to a 'newer' fnaf theorist channel, Fuhnaff, who has been essentially leading the charge into the new era of fnaf theorizing by bringing new ideas to the drawing board and overall getting the community back into theorizing together and sharing ideas by bringing in all of the decades worth fnaf content we've been given,,,, it's been wonderful seeing all of these smaller fnaf theorists just popping up out of the woodwork and just laying out the pieces from all angles possible to figure it out :D
I highly suggest doing some lore dives on franchises such as fnaf so when you react to the songs of said franchises, you could understand a bit more of the references. I feel like it could probably enhance the experience. But anyway, I enjoyed the analysis and breakdown, keep up the good work 👍
Sorry to nitpick something very tangential to the actual subject at hand, but there's *a lot* more to Street Fighter lore than "there's a fighting tournament, and that's it". Every character has their own crazy backstory, and about half of them tie somehow into the villain's world domination plot (which, for the record, is to use the tournament to identify the world's strongest fighters so he can brainwash them into being his soldiers and use them to subjugate the world's great powers, because that's so much saner and more effective a villain plan than holding nations hostage with stolen nukes or whatever, but then again maybe that calculus is different in a universe where training hard enough lets you throw fireballs). Chun Li, for example, is actually an undercover cop infiltrating the tournament seeking revenge for her detective father, who died trying to expose Bison's plots.
@@LPTheGas yes, I know that. The characters themselves have plenty of lore and backstory, but the tournament at the heart of the game is it essentially just... a fighting tournament
That “FaNAF” pronunciation seems to be quite common with English speaking fans. I always thought it has something to do with difficulty saying F and N together but it might also originate from some of the OG FNAF content creators. It does irk me a bit. I did hear Stupes’ voice in small bits here and there. It wasn’t a character voice. There just wasn’t that much of it. Also, if you blush at the sight of a harnessed Freddy, then I wouldn’t google Springtrap art 🫣… (And yey for the future Patreon video!)
7:22 oh no, yea, this is every fnaf guest entering the pizzeria before they found the bodies inside the suits- "they perished on the stage" "uh, don't you mean perched? Those are robots" "no, detective, look inside the robots. They definitely *perished* on the stage" /Lh /Jk

It’s wild that it’s been 10 years of FNAF. Back in my day when there was only the first game, and watching the game for the first time a month after the game came out. That being September 2014 when I watched my first FNAF gameplay video. I remember it being Pewdiepie but most likely Markiplier. It has been like 10 years, and My memory isn’t the best these days lmao 🤯😊😅 This song is fantastic, always so cool to hear Matpat in a song. I’ve been watching game theory since the first ever theory of FNAF at the time. Well that’s not exactly true, I don’t watch every single theory, since a theory of a game or movie might not interest me. Or the fact there are too many channels now to keep on. I’m 22 now. I have see how much has happened and change over 10 years for Scott, Matpat, the FNAF RUclipsrs and my life as well. This franchise means so much to me, as the same for so many others too. It’s changed so many peoples lives for the better. Like with any movies or games that bring people together as a community :3
The bear is called Freddy Fazbear. The bunny is called Bonnie The Bunny (He). The yellow chicken is called Chica The Chicken (She). And my all time favourite Foxy The Pirate Fox (He), that’s the red fox one with the eyepatch and hook :3
24:40 it’s mentioning the extra night that you get in most of the games. Custom Night is when you can change the difficulty of individual characters for the night. There’s even a game with up to 50 characters or more in a game called Ultimate custom night, by the creator of FNAF

You probably already got comments about this, but the line "Do bronies make art?" is partially joking - while Professor Chalk isn't joking, Black Gryph0n, who voices him, is being self-aware with it. He was a big part of the brony community back in the day, with several songs with millions of views, being part of community projects like Brony React, at least 3 Michael Jackson covers and the animation Twilightlicious, which he got the official VA of Twilight Sparkle to voice through some legal loopholes and was a huge hit. I'd go as far as to say his channel really took off /because/ of his MLP fancontent, as his first video to break 100k views was also his first pony-themed one.

23:40 It's actually quite funny. There is technically a fandom, Gаchi. Its whole point is that someone found a series of Western gаy p*rn movies with funny acting and memed a bunch of phrases, to the point that they began to make covers of popular songs using sounds and words.
13:42 Btw "puts you back together" is a reference to phrase said by the main antagonist of the games
I think the phrase is something like "You're broken. I will put you back together" (he said it to his son who was about to die)
It says other times in fnaf media referencing this
That Atari is a reference to the games during nights or after deaths or whatever bollocks they hide them behind (a grid of cement blocks where you have to use it like a keypad to type the hexidecimal code for purple backwards as a real example) you can play small minigames designed to emulate Atari graphics (not really though they were made in blender so the pixels were way off) that held the lore and in a couple you control the animatronics
11:45
-Doors and lights
the only defense you have in Fnaf 1
-music and audio lures
Music is used to sedate a specific animatronic in Fnaf 2, with audio lures of children laughing being used in Fnaf 3 to lure away animatronics.
-controlled shock
In Fnaf: sister location (or fnaf 5), if animatronics are out of place, you use electrocution to shock them until they go back to their stage, which is referred to by the narrator/instructional voice as a controlled shock
-eye contact (they are shy)
Animatronics in the first three games can’t move while you look at them on the cameras.
-FIRE
in fnaf 3, fire is used to burn down the building after night 5 in an attempt to get rid of the animatronics for good. It fails. They try it again in fnaf 6, and it kind of sort of works but not really, and then they do it again in Fnaf: security breach, which also doesn’t work. You think they’d learn.
-Poverty
fazbear entertainment is a comedically evil, money hungry company, and will shut down anything that doesn’t make money. Also likely a reference to fnaf 6, in which you run your own pizzeria, and one possible ending is bankruptcy.
-Crowbar to the knee
As explained in another comment, this is a deep cut reference to a popular fnaf fan animation series called Five AM at Freddy’s.
-Turn them into marketable plushies
A meme within the community that stems from the VR game, in which the main threat of the game is indeed transformed into a plushie.
-Hoover jumpscare
There’s a minor character in the fnaf series named Mr.
-slippery floor
In the same game, there is an animatronic that is defended against by putting a wet floor sign in front of a the door she tries to enter from.
How does it feel to live my dream and have Weird Al introduce your video
@@dillonohlemiller401 pretty awesome, actually. I definitely freaked out when I got that video. 😅
The "indie to catch up on" that that you couldn't read was 'OneShot'. It's a cute little game about a kid holding a light bulb. Apparently, it was made in RPG maker, which is wild to me since the game has some of the most unique mechanics I have ever seen in a video game.
On no yeah, when you get deep into RPG Maker stuff, there's absolutely beautiful and wild works. One of my favorites is Pocket Mirror.
I did not expect to be reminded about It is Pitch Dark, wow, big flashback to the early 2000s listening to funny nerd music on my extremely shitty ibm laptop. "you are likely to be eaten by a grue" was something me and my friends parroted to eachother
Literally was thinking yesterday about how I couldn't wait for you to react to this.
FYI Perish also means to "rot" and the original game lore had literal dead bodies in the animatronics.
@@spoopyvirgil4944 someone did mention it, but I appreciate the more in-depth answer!
I liked one trick pony, personally.
The wet floor sign is a reference to ultimate custom night rockstar chica is afraid of wet floor signs
This video is packed with references so obviously I’m not going to give you them all
25:00 the part onscreen here is a double reference, since they're referencing Friday Night Funkin (FNF) while talking about references.
12:14 I think the crowbar is a reference to the fnaf 3 animation from piemations
The song also represents all of the different kinds of people in the fnaf community like the cosplayers, the theorists, the gamers, the artists and the musiciens
I really love how after so many reactions Ian has perfected his Intro
also just after the chackeaters au mention you hear the melady for the living tombstones fnaf one song
about friday night funkin, the scene at 25:00 is a direct reference to it, especially with the pose of the girl sitting on the console matching FNF's Girlfriend. And a good show that the setting lives even in other games thanks to mods
Guys. I have to give congrats to Ian, he finally ironed out his intro
11:26 it is commonly said as “fuh naf”

@@A_Random_Theatre_Kid I'd like to think I've had it for about a year now, but this one certainly was the tightest I've done it 😅
I didnt knew about the Filk (Is that correct written?). Good video! 👍
IMHO both Leslie Fish & Tom Smith are two good filkers to start with, if I want to sample some filk (classic & more modern, respectively)
9:40 Actually Willy's Wonderland had nothing to do with FNAF, at least from the creator of the movie.
@@glitchtyr7341 huh. I had always heard that it was supposed to be based on FNAF but they couldn't do it. 🤷♂️
Ah yes….a college professor voiced by the Radio Demon talking about the FNAF fandom/lore……a normal Tuesday e

7:26 "i dont know what the """Bonni""" is"
Yes Ian, yes you do
(I know he says bunny but it realy sounds like Bonny)
@@jann2.058 you're the second person to say it sounded like I said Bonnie instead of Bunny 😅
I'm honestly a little surprised that no one back in the 1980s/1990s thought to make a horror movie with a Chuck E Cheese style rip-off...

Hi Ian!
Hi @@WizzyMcWizzyton!
I forgot about doom guy's pet bunny
It’s wild that it’s been 10 years of FNAF. Back in my day when there was only the first game, and watching the game for the first time a month after the game came out. That being September 2014 when I watched my first FNAF gameplay video. I remember it being Pewdiepie but most likely Markiplier. It has been like 10 years, and My memory isn’t the best these days lmao 🤯😊😅
This song is fantastic, always so cool to hear Matpat in a song.
7:12 That’s because they’re talking about the spirits of the children that now haunt the animatronics

I'd go as far as to say his channel really took off /because/ of his MLP fancontent, as his first video to break 100k views was also his first pony-themed one.
.Chalkeaters are themself bronies. They are perfomed under BroniKoni name.
