I did backup the config, just no UPS. Main reason I switched is that I’m going to be deploying a network device overseas that I won’t have easy access to after it is installed, so I’d rather go with a UniFi firewall for that. The goal is to have a site to site VPN across the different homes and I’d like to standardize the hardware if I can.
Thinking of using those two 10G SFP+ ports as LAN ports to my NAS & MBP with an RJ45 transceiver until I see the need for the USW-Aggregation switch! Or is that a bad design?
I'm confused I get it the power went out things went sideways so you didn't have a UPS before you got a dream machine seems like a cart before the horse thing
I didn’t have a UPS. I decided to switch to UniFi for simplicity + cloud management if needed. At the time, I was planning to roll out a similar firewall solution to remote sites and wanted to get something fairly resilient (one of the remote sites sometimes has power outages for 5-8 hours on end) as I won’t have physical access after it is installed.
Running with the UDM Pro. I’ll revisit opensense software in the future. The protectli doesn’t have any problems, it just comes down to me not having a UPS and wanting cloud management if something breaks.
This is a great video. I love that RUclips is recommending small channels like yours lately.

Just subscribed. What is the Mac browser/VNC client you're using before you switch to safari? With the sidebars and tabs?
Thanks for your support! I use Royal TSX for macOS.

I thought I was going deaf in my right ear 😆
Why not just backup the config? Also did you not have a UPS?

id def use a DAC cable from the pro 10g port to the 10g input on your usw switch.

USW-16POE only has 1G SFP, not 10GbE SFP+
Thank you for the video, subd!

No dice. No options for even a dynamic public IP or port forwarding from them.
