As a former owner of the famed 55-57 Chevy’s ,we are truly enjoying the progress on your 56 Bel Air.
I appreciate the support!
Looking really good. Great explanation on the weatherstrip. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Really liked this video (and all your other videos too). The real key is having a really clean surface and remembering you have to have the 3M weatherstrip adhesive on both the weatherstrip and trunk (and do wait for it to dry a bit - it’s hard to wait but it really does work). The installation of the trunk weatherstrip went perfect on my 1957 210 2-door sedan thanks to your great video. Cleaning, prepping and painting the trunk channel before installation was the big time consumer! Don’t cut corners when it comes to preping!
Yep! Since this was on fresh paint, cleaning wasn't a step that I had to worry about, but I can see how it might be challenging to marry a new weatherstrip over old paint, dirt and road grime!
Exalent video a car being restored the right way
I'm trying, that's for sure!
Always positive and informative thank you Bill
Thanks, I appreciate it!
Put your video in favorites for my installation later. Well done!!
I appreciate it!
Looks great Bill.nice job
Thanks 👍
Enjoyed the video. Thanks.
Glad to hear it!
Great work once again. Get that dinger fixed. That sucks
I'm still sulking about it!
Looking good Bill!
Thanks!
Well that looked easy. Nice work Bill. I'm looking forward to seeing you do the doors as that is next on my 55.
Those were next! Put the driver's side on last weekend and then the passenger side yesterday. I was able to do it all by myself but it was a bit hairy! LOL!
Very Nice! Good pointers, especially about the adhesive. I would have been nervous about waiting that long for the adhesive to dry, but worked for you, so now I can rest assured it will work for me. :)
I haven't discovered any amount of time where it won't stick to itself after it dries!
I am doing a 57 ground up.... greetings from Montana
Awesome! There are quite a few garage warriors following along that have their own tri-five projects going. Definitely share your progress when you do!
🎉 great job 🎉
Thank you!
car looks great
It's definitely getting there!
For some reason my comments are getting deleted ... so I'll try again ... probibly not the last time you'll chip the paint ... it takes a while for those seals to settle down ... lookin good ...
You are right! I'm touching little stuff up here and there. My suspicion is that the pros go through this and just don't fess up to it!
You are correct on how crisp and clean that looks! Christine looks so great in color now. Out of curiosity, do you plan to do any type of wet sanding and buffing? From I can see in the video almost looks like you don’t have to? That paint really laid down smooth!
Yes! I plan to do that as soon as I get the doors on and before I reinstall the stainless.
Pro job ! ...repaired lid looks great weather strip looks great and I like splatter paint !
Thanks! The Zolatone spatter paint isn't period correct, but I like the way that it looks. Fast forward maybe 5 or so years, and then it would have been a turquoise color. The black onyx is from 1970-72.
