Sure enough: the Canik TP9 has proven to be awesome in every respect. Definitely one of the best combat pistols being made, never mind it is a "value pistol." For just over $300 you will score a perfect trigger, reliability, accuracy, durability, and coolness [check out those colors]. It's basically a Walther P99 and that is a great thing. When guys start talking about which low cost 9mm to buy for serious purposes, this pistol rightfully tops our list. How to you not own at least two, seriously? -nutnfancy actual
To offer an answer to your question, way too often guys have irrational, unjustifiable or emotional attachments to the maker of the guns in their safe. It's as if any negativity to other makers bolsters their self image of being a gun savvy consumer or Uber elite super tactical ninja operator. As to the ISO9001 reference, iso offers no assurance of quality, only process consistency. You can make a pile of poo and have iso designation,as long as you make that pile the same way every time.
I'm going to SOGD here, I don't think that I've ever done that in your comments before, I can't support a product made in the country of Turkey, because of their support of global terrorism. I'm selling a Springfield Armory 1911 Mil-Spec because of SA/RAA's traitorous actions in Illinois. I'm a Californian that doesn't vote for liberal/progressive democrats, or RINOs, I know that I'm fighting a losing battle on all these fronts because so few people are Constitutionally minded these days. We live in an IGM (I Got Mine) society.
Hmm...buying a good pistol that is within your budget, and is reliable AND will save your life Im in Turkish or American Who gives a damn,im still an american, and patriot Maybe S&W, Glock,Sig,Kimber, should drop their prices to be more competitive with Canik That would be American
Colonel, your "rant" made me chuckle because it was so true. It also took me back to 1973, to my own Virginia gravel pit in Hanover County, where I was mightily trying to make a Smith and Wesson Model 39 feed and fire a full magazine reliably while my buddy from school was asking me "why don't you just get a danged revolver, like me". Back then, the gun companies (all three of them) handed you a gun, and if you didn't like it, that was just tough, you were expected to adjust. Beretta and SIG came along and gave us pistols that actually worked, and then Glock gave us pistols that actually worked in spite of how we tried to screw them up. Others arrived with replaceable backstraps and other refinements, and our little snowflakes suddenly believed that if every pistol wasn't perfect for them, something must be drastically wrong. Then we all got on the internet, and a new sporting event was created. It was called "Making a Mountain Out of a Mole Hill". But now old guys like us live in Cupcake Nation, and it is hell not to be a Cupcake. But it is also the best time in history to be a real shooter in terms of the choices we have. Thanks for the memory.
Bought my Canik TP9SA about a year ago now, over 6.000 rounds and still functions PERFECTLY. Love the videos man, and excited yet again for another canik review!
Well I'm in my 50s so I'm not going to war anytime soon. I'm also tired of this non-toting gun babies that think they know everything about firearms. So much for being tactical. Anyway, I'm glad you've started a Patreon account. You're the most real guy in the biz. You don't see anyone else going out to a freezing desert and kicking gear around.
Jerry Naples , yes to that. I look at some old vid the other day. Long range shooting with Bugget Nuster. Good vids and alot of learning beacouse they go out with alot of gear and make mistakes. Thats the way to go!
2500+ rounds downrange through my SA with 2 trips to the range at 700 rounds in a single afternoon without an issue...I will put my factory SA up against any factory Glock or MP...
Saw my first TP9SFX in a 3 gun match this weekend. It had 0 issues and held up very well and he beat a few higher end pistols in the end. The mags had no issues with being dumped on the ground hard either.
I agree 100000% with the first few minutes of this video!! I work at a gun shop part time, and I hate to say.....but I run into the biggest cry babies I've ever seen! Constantly bitchin, constantly complaining, constantly putting others down, just because YOU aren't buying their fav gun. It gets sooooo old, really quick. This world has enough problems to worry about besides negativity. If you own a Highpoint, a Kel Tec, and Canik, or a $10k fully custom 1911.....WHO CARES!! Its your money, its your gun!!! Be F**KING HAPPY, and STOP worrying about other people!! Jeeeeez......... Good Job, and keep it up #nutnfancy
I'm a lefty and have 2 CANIK TP9, an SF and a V2. I Never even considered swapping the mag release over, it's perfectly fine where it is. They both shoot very well, trigger is great, the overall weight is outstanding. I actually thought about getting an SFx and based on what you didn't say, I'm thinking it's probably a good buy.
I picked up a canik tp9 sf in FDE like a year ago, it's an amazing gun. My buddy even liked it more than his sig 2022 9mm. I have a sig 2022 in 40 also and I prefer the canik just such a accurate and reliable gun.
Perfect timing, I just ordered one of these (SFx, got an Elite last year) to add to the Canik collection of CZ Clones and other TP9's (I even have the same guys holster for my SP-01 Tactical and P-07v2, great holsters)... Love these pistols and I found them because of TNP back when the SA came out.
thanks for the updated review on the caniks, been looking forward to it! I've been eyeing them for a while, just waiting for the right time to get one. Glad you addressed the turkey nonsense too, knew you would share a more mature outlook on it.
Thanks for the great vid, and all your Vids, your always putting alot of great advice into your Vids!! Keep up the great work that you all do . just picked up my Canik TP9 SA used for $239 Buckaroo's, the person that had it only had it for about 2 1/2 months! Still had all the factory oil in it. Over done of course!! Cleaned it shot 400 rounds , no malfunctions. Love my Canik !! Again Nutn , thanks for all your hard work!! 😆
Revisiting this after finally getting a Canik in my hand. I was checking out a TP9SF Elite and dry-fired it. If this had been available when I bought my PPQ M2, I would have purchased the TP9SF Elite. Trigger is almost the same, the sights are better, and the price unbelievable. Not going to buy one since I have the PPQ, but I would totally recommend it. I wish they would make a DA version in this size, that I would buy.
As a "correct" handed pistol shooter I can tell you that Colonel Jeff solved the problem for us decades ago. The middle finger of the left hand works the mag release. For us, it's a bit quicker even than for right handers. Slide release? I just jack the slide. Works on every pistol. Thanks Clint!
@2:13 -- I almost blurted out "what, he's not wearing a Casio?", but sure enough it's a Pro Trek model. Literally half of nutn's watch reviews of the past 6 months have been Casios.
SOGD! I love it. You're so right, so many complainers. I think there's no better time to buy a handgun or an AR. What incredible selection and quality we have! Agree with the rant!!!!!
Isn't Canik a privately owned business? If so, then your money is not funding terrorism, its spent on the entrepreneur who started the business and anyone they employ...
This is evolution. I don't understand the lack of trying new. I am a huge glock guy, but I love all different styles of firearms. As long as it goes bang every time I'll keep it. I've had more failures out of $1000 1911s then any of my plastic guns.
I didn't know about the SFx, I like it. Patreon #260. Also, that kydex holster is the most flashy item of gear I've heard you give such a thumbs up, I'd use it though.
Thanks for the great video! My wife got me the black sf for father's day and I ended up using it as my carry gun! Extremely happy with it, I carry it in a red x gear zero vis iwb holster with no issues! Currently looking into the sfx for competition and the elite for summer carry. Keep up the good work sir!👍👍
Nutn, thanks for keeping the content coming. I am not in the market for anymore gear but I watch your videos for entertainment. Thanks for the hard work
I'd agree 100% the tp9 series SMOKES my m&p9, sr9, walther creed 9, and I just picked up a xd9 today and I will be extremely pissed if it's not as good as the tp9sf. I will sell that shit asap lol
I have owned a Canik tp9sa in desert sand for 3 years now. Never had a jam, light primer strike, magazine failure of any kind. It has been a lot more reliable than my glock has. And that's not to say that Glock isn't it amazing gun and that's not to say that there aren't some Lemmings out there in the caniks line up. But for the money I don't think you can find a better gun.
Excellent review as always. You tell it how it is and thats how it should always be but not everyone is willing to do that. This pistol looks like a great value and its going on my list. Right now I only have a small 9mm pistol but would love to get a full size pistol . This might be it
The TP9SF was my very first gun purchase ever. I bought it in July last year. Yes I'm new to guns but I've learned alot and been obsessed. I love it, been 100% reliable, accurate and the trigger (at least to me) is fantastic. Great review.
I used a Canik TP9SA in Action Pistol at the World Police/Fire Games this year. Ran flawless! Who was standing at the line dicking around with a malfunction? Mr STI 1911......
I'll say, I got an optical pistol for my last purchase, with my eyes, just the best option without going to tfx's. And carrying hasn't been an issue at all. I have the SF Elite, great gun. I just can't see that FO sight very well at indoor ranges and I wonder how I would do in a low light defensive situation.
Pahaha... true story... bought a TP9SFX... took it for a walk fishing w/ friends that night... fell in the mud and the bore was jammed w/ crap. I ran some weeds through it and rinsed it out and didn't feel too bad about the scratches on my new gun, pahaha. I suppose there's something to be said for that. Shooting it since then, I have no complaints except for the mildly hard grip angles in my hand. Awesome review!
I talked my dad into buying me a TP9 for my birthday after nutn's initial review. Dad told me I was a fool for wanting a Turkish made gun just because a guy on RUclips said it was great. When it came in, we un-boxed it together and he decided it looked and felt like a quality piece. I was vindicated... The striker broke within 100 rounds. Got a replacement striker but now it fails to fire in single action. It will however fire with a DA follow up pull leading to a lovely BOOM, click, BOOM, click rhythm. I guess the violence from the striker breaking tore something else up. In order to avoid a big ole I told you so, I never told my dad the gun broke. I'm not going to spend a nickel to repair this thing. It's now the only single shot 9mm I own.
Thanks for this update. I expect to buy a new pistol for home defense and recreation in early 2018. It will displace a S&W 908 which is currently my only handgun. My thot was the TP9V2, for the DA/SA action I am used to but now I'm liking the competition version. I will also get a sub-compact 9mm for CC. Likely a Keltec.
To fully appreciate how utterly awesome the Canik TP9 and also the Walther Creed, both 9mm pistols at around $350....I remember back in 1995 it was considered a really "good deal" to get a mediocre ASTRA at the exact same price.
I have a Canik tp9sf. it has shot everything light loads heavy loads never a malfunction not even once. The only complaint I have about this gun is that it shoots about 3 inches high for me at 10 yards. When I grab one of my other pistols and shoot it after shooting that when I had to readjust back down to where I normally aim. Need to get some different sites for it but the guns great
PPQ yes HOF. If I buy another 9, would defiantly look at TP9. Everyone I talk to loves the TP 9. So nice to live in the day when the competition makes them all better!!
Quick tip: before shooting with a pistol light, put a little chap stick on the lens. Then after shooting the carbon build up will wipe right off no problem.
I own a TP9sf, tan, bought 4 extra mags, with WA sales tax around $500. Best 5-bills I ever spent on a handgun. I have others I like a better, but they're 2-3 times the money. No-brainer boys and girls! Even if this gun was the same price as a G17, I'd still pop for the Canik. BTW, buddy of mine speaks fluent Turkish. They pronounce it Janik, which translates 'of the blood'. Proper.
If they do it the right way, i.e. cordial and non denunciative, it's fine. We all have opinions, and the market is as varied and wonderful as it is BECAUSE everyone thinks differently. It's just dumb when people write hate letters about how the channel should be supporting boycotts and instigating these industry-wide blackouts, especially for a great gun like this. This TP9 is a damn good value for new shooters, as is the rest of the range. It's a great entry point, and a great backup pistol (as a cheap way to grab a 'loaner' gun for WROL) and it's just not fair to blacklist a good product because of the politics of its' home country. If individual buyers want to, they totally can, I'm not gonna let them dominate the convo by acting like anyone who buys a Canik is a traitor. :/ -Doodle
I have an Elite, a SFx and owned a SA previously. They are not only an outstanding value but simply just great guns. You do need to try an Elite though...I feel like it's the best one, with better balance and shootability. It simply feels better in the hand than the others and I shoot it more accurately than anything else I own.
FEATURE LENGTH!??! all my dreams come true on a wednesday at 1230 when i dont want to work anymore. thumbs up. commented. the man, the myth, the legend, nutnfancy. (Steyr m9 is WAY better, but its ok....)
2:33. You got that right bro. 1980's semi-autos were in the same stage as "The Great American Beer Drought" of the early 1980's. Nothin' available then was near the quality or value of what is available today! Good Beer and good guns. Mostly Unrelated: Thompson/Center Compass - !Outstanding! value. Just sayin'.....decided on 6.5 creedmore cuz it looks like the ammo choices will soon be better than 7mm-08. (low volume use, went for the ballistics and low recoil for fun, otherwise it'd a been 308 like everybody else in Amurrrica.)
I agree with you about the Canik pistols. I have had one for about two years and have never had a problem with it. By the way, the letter c is pronounced as a j in Turkish.
Nutn, unrelated to the Canik vid, have you considered discussing the more overlooked areas of load out, like boots etc? Good boots are so important and typically skipped over in favor of the more "sexy" gear categories. Every system has within it a basic yet essential foundation structure. It's not all guns and gadgets, as I'm certain you'd agree
I totally get what you are saying though. I would love to see a video on walkie talkies/mobile HAM myself, but I also understand he has limited time and resources, and does this alley because he likes to...so if the interest is not there we can't not blame him for not doing it ya know?
Oh totally. The interest would be a vital component. The gear industry changes so frequently with materials tech that it is hard to stay current. To that end, I love the POU videos. In my thinking, the guns and knives are always going to be more popular just cuz they're highly 2nd cool. I personally lean toward ignoring products donning the title "tactical". I much prefer flying sub-radar, but the need for quality core gear is hard to source outside the "operator" niche.
Great review as always. I've seen all the ones you've done on the Canik. I've been holding out for a deal on a S&W 686 plus, but I'm about convinced to pick up one of these while I'm waiting. Seems like a good home defense firearm. Still trying to wrap my head around how expensive weapon lights are, but I guess it is what it is and you get what you pay for. Within reason anyway. Thanks again for the time you put in.
+Shooter 17731 Yeah, I just bought a TLR6 for my carry gun and it doesn't work. Guess even the expensive stuff can suck too. :/. Weapon lights confound me sometimes. The base tool can't be that expensive and tailor-made for each pistol frame, so it it just the standard markup of tac lighting? -Doodle
I've been waiting months for this review because I've been considering the SFX purchase for a fun range gun! Thank you, Nutn! Love your work! (Longtime subscriber and proud owner of a TP9v2)
I carry my sf elite daily, about 3k rounds down the pipe and I love it. Find me someone who can compete at that price, hell...find me someone within 100$ of them
Doodle touches on a similar rant in his review of the Muzzlelite bullpup conversion for the Mini-14. We do live in an incredible age for firearm selection and information. No more ordering a muzzlelite out of the back of shotgun digest and praying that it will be sweet.
Being able to get a ppq right now for under 400 dollars with the rebate has to be the best deal going for a 9mm pistol, for an extra 50 bucks just get the Walther, 150 dollar difference OK i can see the argument but ppq such a great deal until Sept 15
I love my SF.Bought it for 299,my youngest son and one other buddy loved the trigger pull/reset and accuracy of this pistol.I love my Glock 22's trigger pull-it has the Ghost 3.5 Ultimate connector in it,but the trigger pull in my SF feels much better to me and that's the factory trigger.
Hmm...buying a good pistol that is within your budget, and is reliable AND will save your life
Im in

Who gives a damn,im still an american, and patriot
Maybe S&W, Glock,Sig,Kimber, should drop their prices to be more competitive with Canik
That would be American
FWIW, I can pick up and hit with my buddy's Canik easier and more accurately than all the glocks and XDM's I have owned/shot. They shoot great.
I'd like to thank you, nut'n. Due to your review, I bought my first serious handgun buy. A canik tp9sf. Best 300 I've ever spent!
Colonel, your "rant" made me chuckle because it was so true. TP9SA is my favorite polymer pistol hands down. Bought it used for $200. Those who say you're funding terrorism by owning this gun are tards.
I am with you on your rant. It's freaking embarrassing how many cry baby's there are in the gun world.
2500+ rounds downrange through my SA with 2 trips to the range at 700 rounds in a single afternoon without an issue...I will put my factory SA up against any factory Glock or MP...
Excellent honest review! Canik has a great affordable handgun that just works. I own the TP9SF and Elite. Great guns.
I bought original TP-9 based on your recommendation. Still have it, still runs great.
I bought it because it was Turkish gun and love the way it shoots. It's my truck gun.
Saw my first TP9SFX in a 3 gun match this weekend. It had 0 issues and held up very well and he beat a few higher end pistols in the end. The mags had no issues with being dumped on the ground hard either.
nutnfancy I agree 100% with you that the Canik TP9 is an great handgun. Awesome Review.

I'm very intrigued by the Canik TP9 V2 and am seriously thinking of buying one. I truly like an inexpensive, simple and efficient ANYTHING.
I've put 2000 rounds + in my TP9 SA and I've never had issues. Love you videos.
I shot my first Canik TP9 SA today and I loved it. It felt great shooting it. I cant wait to buy mine.
Im from Australia and about to get my p.p.l license. I have to wait 6 months before i can own a hand gun in aus so im really enjoying these vid mate 👍

I have the SF, and I love it... I have put about 500 rounds through it without cleaning it without a single hiccup. Great 9mm pistol.

Your logic is extremely faulty...
I love my TP9, great great trigger, so fun to shoot.
YES! Thank you! I have a tp9sf and I love it. Loving the whole mentality of this vid. Thanks nutn for saying it the way it is.

ive owed a tp9 for over a year now and have yet to be disappointed
I got my Canick early first gen and I still love it!
Nutn, thanks for keeping the content coming. I am not in the market for anymore gear but I watch your videos for entertainment. Thanks for the hard work

Good morning NUTN. As always thank you for for the vid..keep us Californians in your thoughts and prayers...cheers
Yes I will. Love and hate California at once.
nutnfancy born and raised in Hayward. Omg it has changed so much..i have too..I'm more conservative than ever.

Awesome review as usual, great job dude,,, love Canik .
Please don't move and disconnect. No one else will share the cold hard truth with us. Love your channel gentlemen.
hey, I like turkey, specially at Thanksgiving!
I bought a Tristar/Canik T100 a couple of months ago, and it's flawless in build and performance.
Excellent review as always. You tell it how it is and thats how it should always be but not everyone is willing to do that. This pistol looks like a great value and its going on my list. Right now I only have a small 9mm pistol but would love to get a full size pistol . This might be it

A slide release on the right side of a gun for a lefty is not needed. It just adds complexity and weight.
Pahaha... true story... bought a TP9SFX... took it for a walk fishing w/ friends that night... fell in the mud and the bore was jammed w/ crap.
I'm grumpy because I'm from Cali and can't have any of these new non roster handguns haha
As usual, nice review. Very in depth. Keep them coming!
Damn it Nutn! You sold me on that sfx, add it to the list.
I"ve been using TP9 Mags in my PPQ M2 for over a year with no problems they're cheaper and probably made by Mecgar the same as the PPQ mags.
Need to get some different sites for it but the guns great
I love my canik tp9 , and I live in ketchikan Alaska.
The Elite has ambi slide lock. I have one, and love it. 385.00 not bad.
I like this idea. I shall ponder; and try to expand upon it. Blessings go to thee my insightful brotheren.
I have the TP9SFX and it is f'ing amazing!
Oh, check out the SF Elite too!
Proper.
Well said. I also hate when people bash a perfectly good product just because they personally don't interface well with it.
:/ -Doodle
I am also not a Turkey fan but that dudes response was pretty spot on.
Just saw the live to impress yourself - great. Nutnfancy your a good guy. They definitely need to know. 😎
Great review Nutnfancy...you ROCK.
I'm a lefty and I just adapt as well. Some are problematic like a bolt action but generally speaking I run right hand guns with no problems
I have an Elite, a SFx and owned a SA previously. They are not only an outstanding value but simply just great guns. You do need to try an Elite though...I feel like it's the best one, with better balance and shootability. It simply feels better in the hand than the others and I shoot it more accurately than anything else I own.
Loving the patriot brown Cerakote on that PPQ!
FEATURE LENGTH!??! all my dreams come true on a wednesday at 1230 when i dont want to work anymore.
thumbs up. commented. the man, the myth, the legend, nutnfancy. (Steyr m9 is WAY better, but its ok....)
I love the vids and the Rants Nutn keep bringing the heat!!!
The first time I seen a ad on the nutnfancy video and week's surprising
I could have sworn I spotted a CZ P10C at 1:45. Can't wait to see the review - hint, hint!
I agree with you about the Canik pistols. I have had one for about two years and have never had a problem with it. By the way, the letter c is pronounced as a j in Turkish.
finally more feature length table top! keep it up, love it.
He has done a lot of videos on boots actually because of the very good points you make.
Yeah he's already done them, not specifically for overseas but the principles apply. Go watch backpacking vids
Well, boots was merely an example.
-Doodle
Every time I want to buy a gun, I watch this channel for the info it takes the guess work out of buying a gun
I've been waiting months for this review because I've been considering the SFX purchase for a fun range gun! Thank you, Nutn! Love your work! (Longtime subscriber and proud owner of a TP9v2)
I'm not just a debater, I'm a masterdebater :D
I carry my sf elite daily, about 3k rounds down the pipe and I love it. Find me someone who can compete at that price, hell...find me someone within 100$ of them
The "Elite" is my Fiancee's EDC. Awesome gun.
Thanks for the great reviews Nutn. Keep it up man.
thanks for the hard work dude
Doodle touches on a similar rant in his review of the Muzzlelite bullpup conversion for the Mini-14. We do live in an incredible age for firearm selection and information. No more ordering a muzzlelite out of the back of shotgun digest and praying that it will be sweet.
Being able to get a ppq right now for under 400 dollars with the rebate has to be the best deal going for a 9mm pistol, for an extra 50 bucks just get the Walther, 150 dollar difference OK i can see the argument but ppq such a great deal until Sept 15
Those black casio watches have been to the edge of space!! The WB-57 pilots in Houston wear those!
I have 2 and love them. TP9 SAs. Need to get the newer ones. Which they were easier to find at places like Cabelas etc.
FULL REVIEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AWSOME
