Also invoke calamity gets around timing restrictions so you can instant speed sorcery speed spells which makes it pretty cool and also suspend spells you can get around having to suspend them
I slammed Invoke Calamity into my Ragavan deck and it's amazing. Tibalt's Trickery let's me use it as a counter spell as well. Hitting like Trickery and Canonnade to counter something and wipe tokens out feels great
Also if you use Invoke Calamity put an instant with Split Second on the stack, followed by another spell, the spell without Split Second will still be protected by the spell with it, meaning it is effectively super uncounterable outside of Morph cards like Willbender
@@saucercrabzero that's a really good point just make sure you stack your two spells correctly that way split second stays on the stack while the other one is resolving
1:40:00 there is also a flipside of that coin. If you have an token doubling effect, mechtitan core has 5 mana put a legendary 10/10 with keywords. Because you get 2 tokens, legend rule kills one, you get your stuff back
A few minor role players worth mention: Circuit Mender is great in artifact and blink decks. Lizard Blades is great in equipment decks. Moonsnare Prototype is janky ramp early, janky removal late. Kappa Tech-Wrecker can take out a mana rock as early as turn 2 without card disadvantage, and with the deathtouch counter it's good as a blocker and attacker. Also it's a Ninja Turtle.
The blue March can also be used on opponent's creatures. If you have lethal on board, phase out your opponent's creatures to get yours through. If they're about to smack you for lethal, phase out 1 or 2 attackers to survive.
Colossal sky turtle seems perfect for my mid power mimeoplasm deck. Every ability is relevant, and it’s a somewhat decent body to use when casting the mimeoplasm as well
@@T_Peazy I remember the days when green was a meme. Then somewhere around 2018 I wanna say it started to really kick off with green staples left and right. Something that some people may not realize about the equipment creatures. Every single equipment tutor is now also a creature tutor. Steelshapers Gift, Open the Armory, Fighter Class, Stoneforge Mystic, Stonehewer Giant. They can all grab creatures now.
As far as ramp goes, Restoration of Eiganjo and Aerial Surveyor are basically identical the first time around, and the former is more consistent by getting you a land and putting it into play unconditionally. It's also an unconditional 3/4, unlike the vehicle. More importantly though, I fear you missed the mode where you reanimate a 2-drop by discarding the plains you just fetched, if not by discarding a card like Sevinne's Reclamation that you'd want in the graveyard anyway.
The fact that green has no stipulations on rampant growth and is acceptible, but a similar card for white would need to have stipulations is just funny.
I think the reason the saga creatures have to exile and return is that the saga rules text includes sacrificing the saga after its chapter 3 resolves. They could have handed out haste to more of them, though 😩
The more I look at it the more I'm convinced I need to build a Sakashima clone deck based around Mechtitan Core. The Mechtitan Core itself is non-legendary so I can copy the core, use it's ability and exile the copy with 4 other artifacts to get the token and still have my core in play to be able to clone and reuse again.
White isn't as bad as they say :/ it's a fun joke but to this extent from a huge content creation really makes it hard for newer players to understand that white is actually a solid color and keeps getting stronger with every set
Yes they have good removal, play control decks. They have strong aggressive strategies that have a lot of support, play voltron, tokens, etc, etc. There are so many different things that white is good at
@@antonfeyerherm1180 red is better at tockens, green is better at voltron. Anything white does is made better in other colors. Well almost, white is still best for blinking
I love that Imposter Mech can tap the turn you play it, IE it can have haste in some situations effectively, as it's not a creature until crewed, yet still has abilities potentially. This can actually be mana positive in some weird games, and can be played in mono-Blue. It can also copy a Voidwalker, and use the stuff it's exiled, so much fun stuff this can do.
Wait, Tezzeret, Betrayer of Flesh 's static ability does not really go infinite with Voltaic Construct, right? It only works with the FIRST activated ability. Or am I reading it wrong?
That's true. And of course voltaic construct says untap target artifact creature which they forgot. So you have to make gilded lotus a creature first with Tezzeret -2 first. The construct and lotus can go infinite as long as something makes the lotus a creature.
Restoration of Eiganjo is good in Alela, you get to ramp in Esper, but the cool part is that you get 2 ETB from the enchantment. So 2 faeries, 1 plains, and a spirit token on attack or block. Keykar might like it too, plus the tokens are also spirits that can be turned into red mana.
I enjoy Drumbellower with stuff like Giver of Runes. Constantly have protection from any removal even if you're tapped out, and you don't have to be in green or blue like all the recommendations in the vid.
In regards to Mirror Box, random thing that wasn't mentioned and is probably not relevant. In decks like Shadowborn Apostles, Mirror Box is a 3-mana Coat of Arms. Just in case you decided you wanted to win with combat damage in a Shadowborn Apostles deck, for some reason.
I just upgraded the new vehicle precon with Shorikai as the commander and Containment construct is amazing for that deck! You just remove the downside to shorikai's ability and if you get that infinite combo with intruder alarm and whatever 2 mana creature, it's insane. I loved this set so much, I think wizards did amazing with it. It almost feels like an apology for Midnight Hunt and Crimson Vow, even though this was planned way before the releases I'm sure.
Notably if you want to Buyback (or kick) anything cast off of Invoke Calamity you have to actually pay the additional cost, Invoke Calamity does *not* let you cheat it, even if you can cast 6 mana worth of spells.
Restoration of Eiganjo is notable as a way to begin a Worldgorger Dragon loop while holding up interaction, by way of discarding WGD and bringnf back a previously binned Animate Dead/Dance of the Dead. I want to test it in my competitive Tymna/Jeska list.
I've put Ruthless Technomancer in my Glissa, the Traitor deck and I know it's going to put in work. Sacrifice a good-sized Artifact Creature to get a lot of Treasures, sacrificing other Artifacts to get back a big win-con card like Marionette Master or Cabal Paladin, and all of that can be easily recurred with Glissa. I also think that there's a bit of a miss with overlooking the Saga's that turn into creatures. They're designed to be played in decks with Proliferate or Satsuki, the Living Lore to speed up the Sagas to get the effects ASAP and get the creature out quickly.
You could say that about any sagas tho. And the fact these don’t graveyard themselves is a big downside IMO. If all the creatures had haste, then I could understand the value. But right now they’re basically 4 turn sagas where turn 3 does nothing
29:00 lets talk about march of burgeoning life. There is a pretty neat combo you can do with it. First we need a spy kit. If you equip the spy kit to something, march becomes search your library for any non legendary creature. And also, because of the wording, for example if you have a llanovar elves equipped with spy kit, you could pay 2 mana to burgeoning life to instantly get an it that betrays
I think the expected play pattern of Ruthless Technomancer is either 1) sacrifice big thing, get back multiple smaller things or 2) sacrifice embiggened thing, get it back plus another thing. It does cost a lot of mana to do that, and that probably isn't the best way to play it, but I think that was the idea.
Anyone else think the blue march is sneakily good because it can be used both defensively and offensively, by phasing out blockers or key threats for a turn cycle?
Editing to update my assertion was incorrect. Leaving thread intact for anyone else that thinks the target must be selected as it is placed on the stack. With Restoration of Eiganjo you need to declare the target for the ability before you place it on the stack so you cannot return the card you discard to the effect as that happens during the resolution of the ability.
The ability is phrased as "When you do..." which means it's a reflexive trigger. The ability that first triggers is the ability to discard a card. When you do, the return ability gets put on the stack after that ability has resolved. So you can return the card you just discarded.

march of swirling mists just says target creature phases out, it doesnt say creature you control, so you can also use it to clear out blockers temporarily to end someones' career

I drew all of the channel lands except the Blue one from my Booster Box and was so happy since now I can include them in all Decks that can run them. Since I use Proxies for my costly cards and my Manabase these are a Homerun for my Collection.
I’m so thankful that they printed them at rare. Such an awesome inclusion and now people can actually get their hands on them. I bought 6 packs to draft with my husband and we pulled boseju and I was so hype.
Last Game Night a friend of mine polymorphed a Eldrazi into play. I bounced it to his hand with Otawara which won me in the game in the long run. These lands are fantastic ❤️
I hope red's impulse draw is put on the eventual green/red sword, it's such a good mechanic. that said, the green side should not be a fight ability because then it's just a better fire&ice.
Have played Boseiju and Takenuma in my jund landfall deck, both are really good, especially when you pair it with cards like wrenn and six, life from the loam.
I’m absolutely running Brilliant Restoration in my Tuvasa deck, that thing is only splashing blue anyway. I think it’ll be castable by the time I need it.
Ruthless Technomancer is amazing in a Strefan blood token deck and it's weird that no one is mentioning that!! I think Strefan is lowkey OP when it comes to cheating out and reanimating big vamps. The deck can hit hard and hit fast! I've really enjoyed playing it since it come out and when I saw Ruthless Technomancer I couldn't wait to add it to my deck. It works beautifully.
Spent a total of $200 on the set. no boxes, but I got all the singles I wanted. No longer buying boxes or packs with the EV being what it is these days. Half of what I spent on was just boseju's lol
The Sagas did just transform during playtesting, which turned out to be to strong, so they added the exile part to give the opponent a chance to deal with the creature.
March of Burgeoning Life is funny with Spy Kit (letting you search for any non-legendary creature in library) and you could target equipped 1cc mana dorks to go get it as the coasting cost only cares about the target creature, not the card in the library). There's at lest one other other name-matters payoff card in green and some good ones in blue and white (mask of the mimic, echoing truth, cornered market, eye of singularity, detention sphere). If you tutor for equipment/artifacts enough to get the Spy Kit reliably ten those don't have to be dead cards.
bought three set boosters, One of them had Tezzet, Betrayer of flesh, Kaima, the fractured calm and foil reckoner bankbuster in it... but this is only the secondbest pull in my friendgroup Ruthless technomancer would work well in a Kalain, Reclusive Painter deck
I might be wrong here but I think takenuma can loop itself. Since you discard, the land will be in the graveyard before the ability resolved right? If you have enough legendary cards could turbo mill your deck?
Kamigawa gave me a bunch of cool stuff for the 99 in my Vadrok mutate deck the three channel lands. Eiganjo adds a semi removal spell, sokenzhan makes mutate targets, and otwara expands my card advantage suite.. easily replaced some tapped lands. switched out my nyx basics for the gorgeous Japanese basics. Which because I already run the Japanese versions of chaos Warp, Swords to plow, Mothra's giant Cocoon and faithless looting they fit great and kinda makes a vorthos "Rodan attacks Japan" kind of feel to the deck. The hideaway land secret lair may also be a purchase for the deck but I have to evaluate the opportunity cost. Hinata makes it cheaper to mutate onto my targets like Dreadhorde Arcanist or Geist of Saint Traft plus I run things like Curator's Ward and call the Coppercoats anyway.
Comparing Farewell with Austere Command, the 3 flexibility of AC puts it just a little over the top still for me as it helps break the symmetry of the board in your favor sometimes a little better.

You could put swirling mist in the Hinata deck and pay just one 😂
Spy kit on an Ornithopter lets March of Burgeoning Life search for any creature card in your deck for one green mana.
Mirror Box is also great in rat decks!
I hope red's impulse draw is put on the eventual green/red sword, it's such a good mechanic.
that said, the green side should not be a fight ability because then it's just a better fire&ice.
Green maybe adds mana of any colour like Selvala, equal to the creatures toughness? It’s strong but then again F&F would still probably be better
I would think Brilliant Restoration and Triumphant Reckoning would go in Enchantment heavy decks where you're running Serra's sanctum.
so many of the b/w cards y'all couldn't "crack" are actually p decent in greasefang (she takes some effort to make her work tho)
I remember the days phasing used to destroy tokens lol
Have played Boseiju and Takenuma in my jund landfall deck, both are really good, especially when you pair it with cards like wrenn and six, life from the loam.
I’m absolutely running Brilliant Restoration in my Tuvasa deck, that thing is only splashing blue anyway. I think it’ll be castable by the time I need it.
Oooh so close jimmy. It is indeed March when this released.
Invoke Justice would work in Palani decks depending on your rocks dorks and ramp
I recently cast Mana Geyser into Invoke Calamity, cast Mana Geyser again AND Gamble. It was awesome
Surprised Kappa Cannoneer wasn’t mentioned in the Blue cards
Im pretty sure you can choose different opponents for the invoke despair as you are repeating the process of "targeting an opponent" right?
About Mirror Box (best card in this collection), you forgot to mention the Orvar, the All Form deck...
Congratulations, Jimmy!!!
bought three set boosters, One of them had Tezzet, Betrayer of flesh, Kaima, the fractured calm and foil reckoner bankbuster in it... but this is only the secondbest pull in my friendgroup
Ruthless technomancer would work well in a Kalain, Reclusive Painter deck
I might be wrong here but I think takenuma can loop itself. Since you discard, the land will be in the graveyard before the ability resolved right? If you have enough legendary cards could turbo mill your deck?
That *would* work if Takenuma was a creature or planeswalker or if it returned lands, but since neither is true, it can't recur itself.
@@LairScavenger oops duh haha man I need to read new cards several times
"You can fork anything!"
-Jimmy, having now a child as proof that he has indeed forked
worth noting that if the channel ability is a key part of your strategy, you probably shouldn't cut a land for them
Invoke Calamity gives sorceries "flash" as well.
Finally! Alibou made it to a mention on The Command Zone
Comparing Farewell with Austere Command, the 3 flexibility of AC puts it just a little over the top still for me as it helps break the symmetry of the board in your favor sometimes a little better.
