Here I'm using Metal Rescue de rust bath to remove rust from my rusty brake rotors. To clean rusty metal parts such as rotors, just let them soak in Metal Rescue for 2-48 hours, wipe them off, then spray with Dry Coat rust prevention spray, or use paint. I am amazed at how well Metal Rescue rust remover works.

i dont need it yet because i purchased new rotors but in general well done for explaining and demonstrating
definitely earned a like and sub
how much new rotors cost you

@@gerardoruiz6613 That cheap? 😂
This stuff really works. Funny that I was looking for rust solutions on brake parts. I've used it on screws and metal trim on my 1990 Bronco. Even with a spray bottle, painfully taped sponges with plastic around it on the frame surface rust. Didn't know I'd be looking at a fellow 944 owner haha. I have a 1985.1 Guards Red
Company: "Hey would you like to make us a cheap ad for our product?"
YTer: "Hells yeah!"
Hell yea it's a useful product for me and I like making videos so it's a good fit; got an interesting product and something to make a video about lol. I still have and use the stuff.
A bag of rocks in the center would have raised the level to get it all.
indeed, but I wanted to only de-rust half for the video
How's your brain so big
@@aDIYCarGuy You made that decision after you realized it wasn't going to reach the top. 🤣
@@tolamyb35d It's a junk rotor and I planned to de-rust half of it for the video. Some of you people are reallll dense.
@@aDIYCarGuy They're talking about the ones you wanted to keep not the one you just did half of for the thumbnail.
just awesome! Hope they gave you a discount code for their product. I’ll be buying it! Well done!
Awesome video thank you for this! Definitely buying and trying it myself 👍🏼
Save yourself some money and just use white vinegar instead 💯
Doesn’t this damage the metal or maybe they both would. Would be nice if he talked about difference agreed

lmaooooooo
Is this only for "surface rust"?.....my 2 piece Baer Rotors are drilled, slotted and vented. If I dont drive the vehicle for a few months the rotors develop THICK, DEEP AND HEAVY RUST......much worse than the rotors in this video!
Will this product be able save me from having to spend $1k on 2 front rotors every time I dont daily drive my vehicle?
This product removes rust, it doesn't stop new rust from occurring. You need to clean the rust off and then treat the rotors with something that will prevent rust, paint, fluid film, etc. Although w/ fluid film you'll have to reapply after every drive
Did you encounter any flash rusting?
What I mean by that is after using the product and removing the rust, did the rust come back? If so, how quickly and how much rust?
Once rust is removed the rust can come back within a day if you don't protect the metal, it's just bare metal, has nothing to do with the product itself.
Soak in cocoa cola overnight! Removes rust and won’t rust again
@@jamesgrooms2319u sure?
Or soak in bi-carb/water after , to reverse the PH level of the acidic rust bath
Спасибо
How long does it last?
Before the rust come up again

Rust returns immediately lol
Wow! Awesome.

So, this product is similar to CRC Evapo-Rust.
i used white vinegar does the same and far cheaper lol
Hi Frank, there are many ways to remove rust. Although unlike vinegar Metal Rescue is not an acid, which makes it safe on paint, plastic, rubber, and skin. Since it's not an acid, Metal Rescue will not promote rust if left on and does not need to be neutralized. Metal Rescue is reusable and one gallon will remove up to a half pound of rust. We did a comparison video between various rust removers including vinegar and Metal Rescue: ruclips.net/video/M9Vj59WUAdU/видео.html. Please let us know if you have any questions!
I once de-rusted a motorcycle tank with a mixture of vinegar and hot water. The removing worked well but it started rusting again within seconds when I removed the liquid. I then re-applied it and had to quickly replace the liquid with cool water when it was finished to neutralize it and cool it down to avoid new rust. It really opened my eyes to how acid, water, and heat promote rusting.
I also tried a commercial product that I can't remember but it wasn't much better. If the product in the video is actually easier to use I can see its advantage.
Storing liquids in plastic jugs may result in leaks in a short time. The plastic is very thin and if the liquid is even slightly caustic, it will leak.
this stuff must not be caustic because I've had it stored in a milk jug since I made this video and it hasn't leaked
Would this work on rusted calipers too? I always wounder if it will damage anything with the caliper
hmm I wouldn't soak the rubber parts. maybe a rust remover gel would work better for calipers, that way you can paint the gel on the metal and avoid any rubber, and then wipe it off, then prep the metal for paint with something like prep-all, then paint
@@aDIYCarGuy ok thx . Does the same company make it ?
Its is what it is what it is what is not
Did you try it again with one bottle of the rest remover, but 2 gallons of water? Would this still be strong enough or not?
I thought about it, but I didn't want to take the chance in case it would dilute it too much. There's no going back once more water is added, other than adding more Metal Rescue, I'm not ready to get more quite yet.
Hi Qwerrrz, Metal Rescue Rust Remover Bath CONCENTRATE must be mixed with exactly 1 gallon of water. No more, no less. Metal Rescue will not work if the mixture isn't 1 gallon. Thanks.
Thanks for the answer both of you. I thought it would may work slightly weaker, but cover more with more water!

vinegar is cheaper and works really good
smaller round bowl will rise the fluid level

ZINC COATED ROTORS
Shouldn't you wear gloves when handling that product.?
Dude 39 dollar at amazone.... New rotor from rock auto 25 each...
You say this but like if it's an already brand new rotor what is the point of buying another new one if the only issue is rusting
@@tenseyyy3019 coz those chemicals cost same $$$ as brand new rotors plus you lost your Labor time.
@@tenseyyy3019 well leave it alone rust is natural layer for iron to block further keep rust and totally breaking down. As long as you never soak water long period time. There a lot coated roter with rust resistant coating from brand new. The problem is you buy low quality roter try to solve issues with chemicals more cost than high quality roter. There huge selection of rotor at rock Auto .
@@maungmaung4037 dude these are rotors that simple just sat still for a while all the parts are still good parts my guy
@@maungmaung4037 the real issue with the Rusting is actually the wheel bearings being stuck I can't get them out at all
Hi did you use hot or cold water??
Can u spray it on or like put it on a cloth and scrub it off ?
nah it has to soak
a DIY Car Guy is there anything that can be applied to a cloth and rubbed off
Supposedly you can soak it in white vinegar for cheaper

Acid does the same.
Apple cider vinegar works the same
I don't know what you paid for that product but for what you paid for the product wouldn't it save money and especially more importantly time, just to buy a new rotor, oh wait, that's right you have a Porsche lol nevermind this would be cheaper LOL
Will it get rid of the bluing on a firearm
Yes it strips ALL the " native " coating off all metal even poor quality chrome. BUT not good quality chrome plating. This accelerates rust,in a gentle way bit takes the top layer of steel off.
lol for all the rust you had on the rotors a wire brush could have done as good a job
It is pointless cleaning brake disc on the pads surface. Only the lips and mounting bracket may need to be coated.
I disagree, if for valid reasons you aren't replacing or prof. cutting the rotors, ony then: the rust clogs the pores of the new pads reducing grabbing power.
The rust stays in clumps and this wisks it away, using a large file helps the rotor have some resurfacing or a angle grinder.
@@danielguerrieri2023 The problem is only with Turned rotor, it has microscopic irons powder that will be stuck on the pads and squeal. Cleaning the rotor surface meticulously is the key. The glassed pads may cause issue but very rare. Back to rotors, surface rust does not hurt the pads. If it is hardened corrosion like on the lips and creep under the pads material coating, that's bad. New rotor is only about $70 a pair, and paint the lips before installing it.
This stuff is $40/gallon...
Or just buy new rotors and have them installed so you don't have the headache of placing them, attaching the brakes, bleeding them, blah blah blah
lame
super lame
Yeal only 25 each at Rock Auto. Product is 39....
