      I am a graduate in business administration, which has nothing to do with what I'm doing, apparently. ;)
      I am working on my channels (both Hindi and English) and my website.
      But yeah, English has been passion. I have had my seperate research!

    "They were troubled by cold in winter and in summer by the flies."
    Sir here what is the function of the phrase "in summer by the flies?"
    Where is the subject and verb of this phrase?

      The sentence needs some modifications.
      Revision: They were troubled by cold in winter and the flies in summer.
      Hope this makes more sense now!

    How the above sentences are constructed?
    After the commas there are short phrases. Please explain.

      They are absolute phrases. The third one seems different though. Watch the lesson on absolute phrases.

      I'm afraid you haven't used absolute phrases. You're not following the structure. You have used a participle phrase and ab Infinitive phrase, not an absolute phrase.
      Let me know if you need some examples from me.

      Yes sir, I felt that these sentences don't follow the rules . I have not used noun or pronoun at the beginning of these phrases.

      Let me do that for you:
      1. His parents coming to meet him, he took a day off.
      2. Students sitting on their places, the sheets getting distributed, we entered the hall.
      3. Her parents wanting some money, she was working dedicatedly on a project.
      4. Some bags in hands, a hat over the head, Jon was standing next to a dog.

      It has more than two phrases if you want to count them. And the phrase is offset using a comma as there is a pause in the sentence there.

      Not really. It goes with the subject. It does not give outside information. The phrase seems to be going with the subject.
