@@EnglishWithAshish So I can say this is ambiguous. Actually this is because of the commas that are put in non restrictive clauses. Is my concept correct? I'm so confused. Please help me out. If my explanation is correct, which meaning is to choose? 1 or 2 ?
I wouldn't disagree with you. These meanings can be interpreted from the given structure.
@@EnglishWithAshish So I can say this is ambiguous. Actually this is because of the commas that are put in non restrictive clauses. If the sentences I've given were restrictive ones, it wouldn't be ambiguous. We place the participle phrase from middle to the beginning only for non restrictive clauses and that makes those ambiguous. I think so. Don't you ?
No. Here, you used a tense that complicates the meaning. It generally is used with the Simple Past tense.
the house which will be built will be dedicated to the school ..Can I reduce this sentence in this way --the house built will be dedicated to the school ..
As the sentence is passive one I have used past participle built functioning as adjective ....
But in maximum cases it is written as to+ be +v3rd (in this case it will be to be built ) because will is modal verb and infinitive can replace modal in a sentence in fact we can reduce adj clause using infinitive when there is modal verb in a sentence like can, should , will ,must ,etc...
Ex.the students who will attend the meeting will be given a certificate
Can I write this sentence in this way ..--the students to attend the meeting will be given a certificate .
Am I correct sir ? Are all my explanations stated above correct sir? Please reply sir🙏....
1.THE HOUSE BUILT WILL BE DEDICATED TO THE STUDENTS .(the house which will be built will be dedicated to the school ){using past participle}
2.THE STUDENTS TO ATTEND THE MEETING WILL BE GIVEN A CERTIFICATE .(the students who will attend the meeting will be given a certificate ){using infinitive replacing modal verb }
【but I think if I use 'to be built' instead of built in 1 no sentence it will give more clarity about the meaning of the sentence but grammatically if I use direct past participle' built ' as an adjective ,it will also correct as non finite verb has no tense ..Am I correct sir ?】
CAN I WRITE THESE TWO SENTENCES FOLLOWING THE EXPLANATION I HAVE MENTIONED ABOVE ??????
That's correct. And please keep the question short or ask them in separate comments.
@@EnglishWithAshish thank u sir 🙏
1. Let's bring someone whom you care about.
2. Could you check the bottle (that is) under your seat?
Assertive statement:
Check the bottle (that is) under your seat.
(Imperative statement)
(YU) - subject.
Check - verb.
The bottle - object. ( both the speaker and the listener know which bottle)
Under the seat - adjective phrase? 🤔
3. The man bringing (who brings) food to your home is very generous.
4. If you know a brilliant man at this, call him.
5. Tell me the place where you live.
( tell me the place, you live? 🤔)
Correction 4: a man brilliant at this...
(If it was just an adjective, we could place it before the noun modified)
Good job! 👏
Felt offended , censor board has taken down the movie.
Felt offended is reduced adjective Clause which can be write as?
Censor board felt offended ( here we use bare passive infinitive as object ? (To be offended)
It's working as an adverb too.
@@EnglishWithAshish sorry , you dont get what I am asking .
(Felt offended ) past participle how you form it I mean how you reduced it past participle phrase from adjiective clause?
censor board that felt offended ( past indefinite )
should it not be reduced to
Feeling offended ?
Why you reduced it to felt offended
Sir also I don't undrstand why you used past participle (offended) as object beacuse we use regular noun , pronun or gerund for object .
sir must reply: I have this doubt from several days
Problem:
The boy taken to the hospital has recovered.
The boy who is taken to the hospital has recovered
Or
The boy who was taken to the hospital has recovered
Solution:
Sir is this true because the main clause and relative clause both are in present tense whatever the tense (present simple/perfect)
Sir which one is correct?
Both are possible.
The boy taken to... (Here, "taken to..." is a reduced adjective clause)
And in the other two sentences, we are just referring to different tenses in the adjective clauses. That's your choice as a writer. Both are correct.
