You're a blessing dear Ashish ! I had a lot of doubts regarding phrases, and I struggled badly while trying to comprehend the concepts of phrases and clauses, but you made it look like a piece of cake to us. Thank You so much ! You are really a dear :)
You are the best English teacher which I have ever got in my life.If every student could have the English teacher like you, no one will ever face any difficulty to get a clear concept of English.
Being an English teacher is something I am entitled with but when it is to talk about phrases, I really fail here badly. It's difficult for me to identify different types of phrases especially when I appear for some competitive exams. I tried searching for some explanatory videos several times but ended up with people like me. This is the best one I must say which helped me to get into it much deeper. Thank you so much Ashish❤️

Vanakkam Sir, your teaching is always awesome! Indeed you have given a lot of unknown things to us to know. Thank you for your wonderful serving towards teaching good English to all.
You were awesome. I am from Nigeria. I had a zoom class this morning on noun phrase and had no idea on teaching it. Now I feel fully competent Thank you so much ❤️😊
Hi sir....ur teaching methodology is incredible. There's one point .....u r forming a noun phrase with relative clause ..... How can we make a phrase wd clause and sub verb combination
A noun phrase is formed using a noun (headword) and its premodifiers and postmodifiers. Note that an adjective clause can function as a postmodifier in a noun phrase.
In post modifier, participles phrase work not gerund phrase. Gerund ,in another words, is a noun. The word 'modifier' itself shows that Its work is to modify the noun if it is used as a pre modifier or post modifier. In post modifier, yes we have prepositional phrase, participle phrases- both present and past- infinitive and adjective Clause, but to say gerund phrase comes in post modifier seems not correct.
Hi Ashish, It is a clean explanation. Thank You. Here, I am to suggest a few corrections in the presentation. 1) this, that, these, and those are demonstrative adjectives but you mentioned this as distributive adjectives. 2) the heading ‘Positive of a noun phrase’ should be ‘Position of a noun phrase’ in that slide. Hope this can help you. Thank you once again.
An appositive phrase is nothing but a noun phrase that renames the noun or pronoun that it comes after. • Sammy, the love of my life, is going to get married soon. Here, "the love of my life" is an appositive phrase that's renaming the subject "Sammy".
Sir Thanks For this detailed lesson I just have one query about it, When we add a relative clause as a post modifier, Doesn't it Contradict the definition of "Phrase" as it now has a subject and a verb?

I see that after discover there is a THAT. Thanks again!! They would discover that the water exists permanently, cycling through different states of matter as it travels on its adventure through so many different aspects of the earth.
I've watched your other video on pre and post modifiers and you haven't included all of them. Are these the only types? Plus some of these pre and post modifiers that can form a noun clauses are not in the video i just mentioned, such as numbers as pre modifiers and gerund phrase phrases as post modifiers. Please explain this. Very good video!!!

i'm from egypt and i so pleased to hear your video sir, you said that we can't use two determiners in the noun phrase and you said (i have a beautiful car) here we have two determiners a and beautiful) how?!
Hi,Ashish. Thanks for the explanation.I have just come across a very nice sentence in my student's book."Then, there is the Deli Hall that contains 17 delicatessens offering cuisine from many countries including France,Italy,Greece,Japan and Poland as well as a range of other shops selling cakes, bread, coffe and pasta. As far as I understand, the part that starts after "is" is the subject complement. Is it correct?
Can you guys correct me for finding the NPs ? I used bold style to show NPs And Is it possible for a sentence to include 2 noun phrases ? 1. *The woman I told you about yesterday* 2. *The trouble with young people* 3. In San Francisco, the parent company of Dollar Rent a Car and Thrifty Car Rental charge roughly 20 percent more for the Prius than for *other economy or compact areas* 4. *The high markups* are largely a result of supply and demand. 5. *Hybrid cars, which are also in short supply in the retail market,* cost rental car companies more to buy than other vehicles. 6. *I found choosing an economy car over a hybrid* to be the most economical choice. 7. *A two day trip from San Francisco to Yosemite National Park* was $ 55 cheaper with the Hyundai Accent economy car.
Yes, absolutely. You can have many NOUN PHRASES if your sentence is complex. These are great sentences. Just a correction: in the fifth sentence, the first one is phrase, and the second one is a relative clause. Note: the part without commas is not a part of your phrase; it's s clause. Hope it helps!
