    Why can't the video show how to cut braided cable so that it's not frayed and too large to fit into the ferrules? (the problem with doing this).

      You will get better results if you use a cutting tool designed for wire rope. Especially if you're doing a number of swages per day. If it's just a one-off activity, then taping the wire rope and cut through the tape can help. Also, grinding off the burrs can smooth the end before inserting into a compression sleeve.
