  • Been a while since I've made a video but I'm back for another follow-up on my DeWalt foldable string trimmer. This time I show you how easy it is to reload the spool with new line!

    You don’t have to take the cap off to put new line through the head. Just line up the 2 lines on the outside of the spool and push the line through.
    Also, you don’t have to keep turning the spool to wind the line. It’s got a ratcheting action for that, so you just ratchet the spool back and forth and it winds the line onto the spool.

    Same story as you... bought this DeWalt model last year and finally need to re-spool the twine. Love this machine and I'm never going back to a gas powered trimmer. Thanks for the demo!

    Have several DeWalt tools, but never had to change the string in my trimmer until today. Thanks for the video, off to try it right now.

    Thank you because I have this type! I followed what you did and it works, happily. I learned that when the head turns to wind the string, I rotated the bottom counterclockwise so I didn't have to keep moving the string.

    I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use ruclips.net/user/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.

    You don't have to take the cap off to assist feeding new line. Just align the holes and white lines on side of spool.

    You wound up your string in a clockwise direction with the cap but the directions on the DeWalt instruction manual stated to go in a counterclockwise direction.

    Good video. Thanks! Sadly, mine line feeds into the head instead of out. That's right! I bump it and it feeds in. Bump it, and it feeds in more. Any ideas on why?

    My trimmer head doesn't ratchet like yours does...how did you get it to ratchet? I've been loading the spool the old fashioned way, so any help will be appreciated...

    hey thanks for uploading the video. I watched another video where it was done a little bit differently like you pushed down a little bit and you just ratcheted it on with the lid off still. either way it looks like it worked. 😁

    Could anyone add a pic of the cap head spring? Somehow mine got separated and lost during a cleaning. Hate to have to buy a new head when I could maybe find a spring at Ace.

    I just got one and the front end is 5 to 10 lbs heavier. I’ve never in my life owned a more unbalanced weed wacker. After 15 minutes my front forearm was burning trying to keep the front end lifted. The balance point is right where the hinge is, the handle is about 4” too far back. It’s almost like the people who designed it never actually used it.

      @@DJDevon3 I have that problem as well, only I have a bad lower back. I've only had my weed eater for about a month and I wish I wouldn't taken mine back after the first 15 minutes of use. I also tried moving the handle just past where the handle folds, but it won't go there. After 10 to 15 minutes of weed eating, I have to stop because it kills my lower back...

    Get a tri-pod or someone to hold your Camera. 'Great info thanks" Dewalt should make a tutorial on how to string the Brushless Trimmers.

  • @rikjohnson812
    @rikjohnson812 Год назад

    I found this to be a two-person project. Between the curl of the line itself and the fact that you're trying to wind it around the spool, it just keeps winding up a tangled mess. Way easier to have your wife stand there and hold the two ends while you turn it.

  • @JohnDavis-ss4dw
    @JohnDavis-ss4dw 3 года назад +2

    Just look threw the hole till you see daylight, then put the string threw.

  • @Grahams-Grass
    @Grahams-Grass 2 года назад +1

    Noooo that's a speedfeed head you don't need to take the cap off. Line the arrows up with the hole and feed the line in .. Only rotate the bottom cap when loading the head

  • @bowesman1000
    @bowesman1000 2 года назад

    10" is not a lot of load the cheap hart takes 16'. they are trying to copy echo speed feed so you shouldn't have to take that bottom cap of. looks like a pain if you do
