The Legion of Boom is Seattle’s secondary that was led by Richard Sherman, Earl Thomas, and Kam Chancellor. Other notable members were Brandon Browner, Deshawn Shead, and Byron Maxwell.
Facts but eventually the LOB was so notorious that it just came to include the entire defense. Bobby Wagner, KJ Wright, Cliff Avril, Chris Clemons, Michael Bennett, Red Bryant, Brandon Mebane, Bruce Irvin... crazy how stacked that D was
You can't leave Brandon Browner out. He was one of the original 4 that earned the nickname. He certainly brought the BOOM he was the most physical corner in the league.
No, really it's the secondary. The thing that 'its the entire defense' is some hippy everybody gets a trophy crap. Also Brandon Browner was a member. He was one of the original 4 that earned the nickname.
I live just south of Seattle and when I was in grade school I heard we got a Football team called the Seahawks. After many dismal seasons and a few good ones they got this bunch of guys and things have been good. but these guys were the best. I hope you are staying safe over in Japan.
Randy Moss please! He is the most talented receiver, ever and my idol. Extremely fast and would just snatch the ball out of the air. He's so electrifying to watch and so exciting to see. You have to watch his ultimate career highlights.
the saddest part bout the LOB is how they it all was broken up, dumbass coach choked the superbowl with probably the worst playcall at the one yard line after the LOB did everything they could to put the team in a position to win. Gave brady his 4th ring and it was all downhill from then on
The Legion of Boom was a group of very elite individual players who, due to a quirk of fate, came together when each one was playing at the height of their respective careers on the same team. With this level of talent, you actually don't see this happen very often at all. But when it does happen, legends are born and individual seasons and short time periods are remembered forever. Like the late 90's Chicago Bulls for example. And the Legion of Boom.
The Legion Of Boom (LOB) was the great 2013-15 Seattle Seahawks defense. They were originally only the LOB because of their defensive backs but after a year, it became their whole defense! On the defensive line, they had Cliff Avril, Bruce Irvin, Chris Clemons, Red Bryant, and Brandon Mebane. Their linebackers were Bobby Wagner, Super Bowl MVP Malcolm Smith, and KJ Wright. The best part of their defense though, was their secondary, which consisted of Richard Sherman, the best corner in the league at the time, Earl Thomas, the best safety in the league at the time, and Kam Chancellor, a top 5 safety at the time. This defense won a Super Bowl in the 2013-2014 season along with their also high-powered offense which contained the dangerous Russell Wilson at quarterback, Beastmode himself at running back, Doug Baldwin, Golden Tate, Jermaine Kearse, Sidney Rice, Percy Harvin, and Ricardo Lockette at wide receiver. They also had Luke Wilson at tight end, along with a very solid offensive line. I wish you would’ve seen them play live. Honestly it was a real privilege!
So glad that you got to see these guys - hugely responsible for our first Super Bowl win that you saw. Loved how you appreciated them - one of the best defenses in history.
Great defenses often have nicknames; the Steel Curtain, Orange Crush, the Killer B's, the New York Sack Exchange, the Fearsome Foursome, the Purple People Eaters, just to name a few.
As I lifelong Raiders fan I am very objective. I live in Seattle and watched the rise and reign of the LOB in realtime. That defense was the best to ever do it. Some will say bears 85' was better but they didn't play the best offense in NFL history in the Superbowl. The Seahawks did and held them scoreless until the first play of the 4th quarter. Final score 43-8. The backstory on Sherman ranting so hard on Crabtree the 49ers wide receiver is this, they both played in an off-season charity softball game hosted by Larry Fitzgerald from the Arizona Cardinals. Crabtree ran his mouth at Richard Sherman there and really pissed sherm off. They met in the NFC championship and on the last play Richard deflected the pass to Crabtree in the end zone and batted it to his team mate to seal the win. Then exploded on live TV directly after the game to Erin Andrews about it. Most epic trash talk after a game ever. Crabtree had it coming. Look it up its epic. I told my wife as it happened that it was the biggest verbal blowup after a game I had ever seen.
The original was "THE DOOMSDAY DEFENSE" . It was America's team, the Dallas Cowboys and other teams feared them. There are some really long videos about them, this is the only one I could find that was under 45 minutes long. ruclips.net/video/EhxmJNyR_-A/видео.html . They were amazing and people loved and worshipped them.At minute mark 01:35 LOOK AT THE STADIUM , its moving , bouncing the fans were bringing the house down. That was football at its finest.
The LOB had the best players at each position, who were well-coached, and perhaps most importantly, they worked together. Virtually every interception highlight has 2-3 Hawks working together to strip/tip and catch the ball. I've never seen a defense communicate and adjust before each play as much as the LOB. They were a unit.
The LOB at the time was no joke. Not just the secondary, but Seattle's defense as a whole went head hunting to become one of the greatest defenses in football
One of the best defensive squads ever. Also check out the iron curtain in the Pittsburgh Steelers and for much older cats the Purple people eaters from the Minissota Vikings for Defense. No one scores.
That one play at 9:10 was apparently supposed to be a flag because you can’t bat the ball out into the end zone. Lions are always being robbed from wins but this season they robbed the Chargers in week 2
Hahahahahahaha when she said that she didn’t know abut the legion of boom and she said it was an event I thought she said that it was a mint hahahahahahaha
Hey, here is probably a suggestion you have not had before, react to Pat Venditte, he is a switch pitcher. He to my knowledge is the only switch pitcher in history, who has pitched in the majors. There are plenty of switch hitters who can hit from both sides, buy Venditte can pitch with BOTH arms. There was a funny incident few years back when he faced a switch hitter in the minors and they kept switching back and forth. Which forced MLB to incorporate a rule stating a player has to designate what hand he pitches with or side of the plate he hits from before each at bat.
Richard Sherman really is one of the most interesting, thoughtful characters in the NFL. He played at Stanford and, as an UCLA alum who is a Pac 12 fan, I knew this guy was going to be great in the NFL.
Been a Seahawks fan down here in Washington since around 2001 and I saw the “Legion of Boom” from its very beginning... it was just special to see Sherm, ETIII and Bam Bam Kam transform the Hawks defense into one of the greatest of all time. I really think if they beat New England in Super Bowl 49 things would be very different for Seattle... But they helped contribute to a Super Bowl 48 win (which was flat out awesome) and a miracle SB49 appearance which we somewhat shouldn’t have been there (watch the 2014 NFC Championship between the Green Bay Packers vs. the Seattle Seahawks and you’ll know what I mean). Love the video Courtney and to all the people in the comment section: Stay Safe and Stay Healthy 😃
A really talented, smart, and hard working defense like that is crazy fun to watch on gameday. In those days I found myself saying some really strange things to my TV set like, "thank God our offense punted the ball away... now maybe we can score some points!" Strange, wonderful days indeed, LOL. (I mean LOB)
yea 85 bears number 1, 2001 ravens number 2 and 2014 seahawks number 3 and thats coming from a seahawks fan. i saw a breakdown in the stats and is scary how close they all are but as a football fan i think thats the right order.
L.O.B. Best Defense and talent all around this includes the front four-Defense Tackles. Not to mention best head coach (Pete Carroll) fans ( which is #12) A.KA. The 12th man. They enjoyed playing for their fans at home & on the road.
Out of all the Super Bowls of all time that one against the Denver Broncos was the biggest beat downs I’ve ever seen! You should just watch the highlights of that game it will blow your mind! 🤯
You really should react to Tom Wilson, one of the most feared and hated enforcers of the NHL, he can break your body with hits, and bash in your face with punches. 100% worth a reaction, no doubt about it. React to his highlights from 2019-20. Such a stud
It's hard to explain just how big these guys were for Seattle sports. My favorite television experiences were these guys with Marshawn, Russel, Baldwin and the others. It was an incredible team to watch and even though the team is now diminished in comparison I still pay to watch every one of their games now because of how fun the legion of boom and those Seahawks teams were to watch.
The LOB is great, but you should watch a video of just Kam Chancellor’s highlights. The man is one of the most physical to have ever played the game. The man is an absolute unit.
I live in Seattle and have always been a Dolphins fan, but I like the Seahawks too. They are fun to watch. I dont know how many times Seattle has been down going into the 4th quarter with very little time left of game, where usually it would be near impossible of coming back to win, but Seattle always finds a way to. Being a Dolphins fan you should react to Dan Marino.
Here is a real sport. There's no patting on butts, hugging, and dribbling. This sport is pure all American . You don't get any southern than this. Tractor pulling competitions. Pure raw diesel power.
Here is a TEAM U should check out. They have been called the Best College Football team of all time. The 95 Nebraska Huskers. They Dominated that season for a Back To Back National Championship team. The Cornhuskers scored 638 points (53.2 per game) while only allowing 174 (14.5 per game). Their average margin of victory was 38.6 points, and their lowest margin of victory, against Washington State, was 14 points. Back then Nebraska was was primarily a Running Team, Running the option. This year our O line did not give up even one QB sack all season. We are not this good right now but its what we are looking to get back to being again. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1995_Nebraska_Cornhuskers_football_team ruclips.net/video/j30xDfaHA9s/видео.html
Another great reaction. I recommend reacting to highlights of No Fly Zone, the Denver Broncos' defense, from the 2015 season. Like the Legion of Boom, they were also an elite secondary. They were key to them winning the Super Bowl that season.
Greatest defense of all time. Of all time. That super bowl against Denver... it didn’t matter who showed up to play Seattle. They were dominating that game, whoever they played. If you actually watch the full game, Seattle won the game on the first 3 or 4 defensive snaps.
No defense compares to the Pittsburgh Steeler's Steel Curtain: Over a 9 game stretch in 1976, the Steeler's defense yielded just 28 points with 5 shutouts. If you want to see defense, watch highlights of The Steel Curtain.
I can't wait till you make it to the US and see your first sporting event here. Don't care if it's football or baseball or basketball. I want to see your reactions!
They were a collection of the very best Defensive players at their individual positions in the entire League... and they were, for a while, all on the same team, it was unfair LOL
I hated Richard Sherman for the longest time because of the Seahawk/49ers rivalry. I wanted so badly for us to beat them but they were simply better. It still feels odd at times to know Richard Sherman is on our team now. I love him to death now. Glad the Seahawks/49er rivalry is back on the menu :)

You can't leave Brandon Browner out. He was one of the original 4 that earned the nickname. He certainly brought the BOOM he was the most physical corner in the league.
@@SliceofBread123 yeah but sometimes did bad like in the packers game
Uhh... Where is Malcolm Smith and Bobby Wagner?
This was the best secondary of all time! They dominated for a LONG TIME.
Simon says: yeah mad respect to them
Idk man what about the 2000 ravens
Not a long time but the best secondary of all tome
No fly zone was better
More like 5 or so years
Richard Sherman is incredibly smart. He graduated from Stanford - a top college in California.
The best defense of all time...miss this
As a broncos fan I cry every time
Robert Westbrook hey it’s ok...you guys won it all 2 years later. At least people don’t yell 1 yard line at you
@@dylanmonroe4072 Damn, it still hurts.
Yah
Courtney : the legion of boom is defensive side the Seattle Seahawk ( American football )
This was the best secondary of all time! I don't care what anyone else says. 👌👌
Woops ment to make my own comment dangit lol.
No, really it's the secondary. The thing that 'its the entire defense' is some hippy everybody gets a trophy crap. Also Brandon Browner was a member. He was one of the original 4 that earned the nickname.
*Was*.... 😢
She badass tho don’t even care if she gets copyrighted 😂
lmao 🤣
I dont think it even did but I might be wrong

I second that. And he was hilarious! "Straight cash, homie!"
Yes do randy moss. In my mind he is the best receiver ever
"what a disgusting act by randy moss"
that announcer such an idiot
I can’t say the most talented he’s top 3 wr to play the game but jarry rice is just built different
Jerry Rice??
Man I miss watching that defense dominate
Wish the LOB was still together but sherm on the 49ers, earl thomas on the ravens, and I think bam bam cam is no longer in the league
Kam retired after a neck injury (something along those lines)
the saddest part bout the LOB is how they it all was broken up, dumbass coach choked the superbowl with probably the worst playcall at the one yard line after the LOB did everything they could to put the team in a position to win. Gave brady his 4th ring and it was all downhill from then on
Theirs a theory that Russ wanted to be the hero and he called and a pass
the way she reacts is amazing 😭
Hi Courtney hope all is well with stay safe.
Thanks Michael!! Likewise :)
Seattle nfl 2014 nfc championship game against packers
Andrew Evans just because you wish a blessing on someone doesn’t mean you are a simp you stupid
As a Seahawks fan, the Legion of Boom is one memory I'll always have. That defense was elite.
I went to the same high school as Earl Thomas. He’s a beast.

Nice one Mrs Courtney Boom was definitely a once in a life Time Rarity 👍
“Don’t you ever try me with a sorry ass receiver like Crabtree” is an all time Seahawks sound bite.
So glad that you got to see these guys - hugely responsible for our first Super Bowl win that you saw. Loved how you appreciated them - one of the best defenses in history.

Being a lifelong seahawks fan, I was so proud of the legion of boom, especially that 43-8 superbowl win against the number 1 offense in the NFL
Earl Thomas went to highschool 15 minutes away from my hometown in the same city my grandma is from
Shes looks so confused the entire video. Its hilarious

I actually love this video
As a football fan this was great to watch but also funny because she doesn’t know that these guys aren’t together anymore

Yk everyone talked about the secondary and only the secondary and i can understand why but i have alway considered bobby wagner as part of them.
He came in the last two years of the true LOB, Kam and Sherman already had rumors of trades or retirement.
@@Dadsandman Huh? He was drafted in 2012, one year after Sherman and the same year as Wilson. He most definitely did not come in late.
Q, Which NFL team do you like? Also of all of the Collage teams you have seen, who do you like?
I'm a eagles fan and I routed for them. I just liked how the legion of boom controled games from the defensive end
Im a seahawks Fan and have to say that 2000s Ravens are up there too. Not Sure which ones better but id say the Ravens have the edge
I know this is old but fun fact when the entire trio only trio they only lost my 7 points for 81 games they only lost by 7 nope no blowout just 7
I'm from Oregon but they are the closest team so I like them and Chicago because my dad grew up in Indiana and close 2 Chicago
Some of the best football players are almost super human like to do what they can do and for how long they do is nuts
