An idea I always had for micro hydro is a flow meter on the overflow up top, with PLC controlled valving for each jet. That shit would be cool. Can’t wait to see what comes next!
Thanks to Seth for all the inspiration to get this done and the sponsoring this build along with Spencer putting this great unit together for us. Check out all his videos. Spencer's gasifer video is amazing witch is something I am working on at this moment. Also a huge thank you for all the new subs to my channel. I hope to bring great things to show everyone in the future.
Really cool stuff! I'll be interested to see how the smaller pipe compares in terms of flow, and particularly pressure. Additionaly, when I first heard that your neighbour will be taking some of the water for home use, I got worried that you might lose out on significant power. But then I did some maths and I see that even if they used 700 gallons/day (more than twice the US household average) it would still only remove 0.5 gallons/minute for you (assuming you captured everything, of course). So not a big issue, I expect!
The power output is a bit low because we are low on water. Its enough to charge batteries at night. He is using very little of the water for the house. Has been for years with no issues.
Good work helping a neighbour, nice start
He is totally off grid and this is helping to charge his batteries at night!
Love these videos where you get to play with the water, excellent fun.
This is awesome!!!!!! I love micro hydro projects! And now that you already have one hydro project under your belt things should be a lot easier!
Thanks! Yes this one was a lot faster. Its doing 120watts.
Land to House Nice, 120watts of constant generation is very respectable.
Sponsor doesn’t have an “e”, but it’s great you’re learning more about micro hydro. these videos will be very useful to me along with Joes videos
Haha my dyslexia at its most basic state.
Ah yeah i certainly understand that... Does not impact quality though. Thanks for the response and keep making these great videos!
Thank you for watching! More to come on alternative power.

That would be nice. I would have to set up solar or something to run that being so far away from the house

So happy that we have hydro power up your way!

Wow! That's great you have a neighbor with the same goals and interests! I will subscribe to his channel too! Take care!
I actually have 4 off grid neighbors and a prepper. Its really cool!
no link to homestead on the mountain
Thank you. Just added that.
it is not best to lay the pipe as the water runs as it will always find the best way down
There are a few places that have a slight dip but it seems to be working well enough.
