- My 2014 Mazda 3 has a constant rebooting issue with the Factory infotainment system. The Mazda dealer wanted to charge me almost $1400 to fix it! NOPE! So I went to Ali Express and about a $300 Android Radio head unit for my car and installed it myself.

Did the harness come with it? If not where did you get it. Does it have a model number?
How's the sound quality through the radio also does the factory Bluetooth mic work through the radio or do you have to use the one on the radio?

I have a whole cable I believe is for sound but I don't have a relevant connection on the head unit.

No I ended up sending it back. Got a full refund
Same thing, can't find where to plug that big red connector to. That's the one with the speaker wires so unless that's plugged in, there won't be sound. Don't want to re-wire every speaker separately to the head unit.
Took out the trunk panels, the glovebox, the centre console, the CD player. can't find where that red plug goes to. Anyone got the answer?
Can this be upgraged to android 14 to? because I have the same Mazda here in belgium, but my samsung s23 is already android 14, so I wonder if that works on the screen?

Do you have AA and Apple CarPlay on it atm? If you do might be worth to repair that unit by replacing it and updating it yourself.

When installed mine, I had no mouse, no steering controls, and no audio. Can't figure it out. Is this part of the Decoder programming?
You need an extra long ratchet extender. Holy hell that was a hard bolt to remove.

Great video. Too bad about that silver bezel around the edges. (I wish they just made it black.) Do the existing USB ports on the car still work with this unit? (I have a lot of my music and audiobooks on USB stick.)
This head unit comes with it's own USB ports and extension so they can be routed to the glove box.
@@antdo Thanks Anthony. They do seem to be a bit hinky when it comes to performance, but the price on these things is dirt cheap! Since you made the video, the price of the one you have is in the low 200s now. Some others are as low as $125. For that price, I'd be willing to take a chance. (You can also buy secondhand head units online for under $150.) Great video. Thanks!
U can just grab a 2017 model screen from salvage yard got mine for 70$ has black bezel and better shape looks way better all plug and play

I have a aftermarket unit that came with its own button controller near the shifter and was looking to keep the factory one. Can you tell me what version your canbus decoder and what settings you have in your factory firmware?
I am hoping that getting an updated version would work along with better control as my voice button on the steering wheel is not working.

Hi all, i have the Bose sound version of a Mazda3 2015.
Does anyone else have the same setup with working sound?
I cannot get my sound working. There is a cable that doesn't match the headunit, i assume it is for the Bose amp.
Do i need to manually splice into the factory harness and comnext ext amp cable to car? Also how would i get tthe sound feed to the Bose loom?

I must say that your system looks really good what is the name and model of the android unit you installed?
Also, I'm sure it's been a while now - what vehicle settings have you retained and what was sacrificed? Just need to understand the main features that I would be losing.

Will this model of infotainment unit work as a replacement on a 2015 Mazda 3 with ghosts touch issues?
Ghost touch is fixed by a $20 digitizer replacement or disconnecting the touch screen cable and going without touch screen.
Looks like it's worth 1k now with none in stock, waited too long to do this I guess.

I have a 2015 and it’s doing the same damn thing! it’s been doing it off and on for about three yrs
Also, you didn’t mention if the rear view camera works on the screen. Did you have any issues seeing the rear view on this infotainment model replacement?

No. Unfortunately Marc went back into hiding little bit not wanting to work on the channel mode again. I think he basically is just using me for my sponsorship at this point.

When I got my 3 I had the re-booting problem all the time. It was fixed eventually when the dealership did a firmware upgrade. However, nine years in and the crystal touch screen cracked and now it's ghost touching like crazy. Trying to figure my options, THANK YOU for the video, at least I have an idea what I'm getting into!
That's a common issue and easily fixed by replacing the digitizer, only costs about 15-20 dollars. There's videos on RUclips of how to do it
there's an option where you remove one of the cables to the monitor that disables the touch screen. it fixed my ghost issue.

is this essentially the same install process for the apple carplay? looking into getting that for my mazda but im not going to pay 1500 for someone to do this easy job
Now that you've had it for a few months, how are you liking it? I'm considering making the swap as well.
I like it a lot. But I can't really say how it is compared to stock since when I got the Mazda it had the factory rest issue from the get go.
@@antdo I don't have a frame of reference since this is my first infotainment system in a car but the stock system is OK. What I dislike most is the lack of any meaningful audio adjustments like an equalizer. Android is a very versatile OS since it is based on linux and used for so many things. That's what is enticing me to swap it but I'll probably wait until my warranty expires first haha.

I purchased one was working first night had installer do it tho..the backup camera and steering wheel controls werent working took it back he pulled it out and looked for a second put it back in and then when i drove off service light and other lights began flashing..

Did you get the 1+32Gb, 2+32Gb, or the 2+64Gb? I had the 1+32gb android 10 unit in my 2nd Gen Mazda 3, God rest her soul, so this time I sprang for the 2+64Gb unit for my new to me 2015 Mazda 3
Dang man, I got mine off Amazon for $150. Also, in my 2nd Gen, I took an old laptop hard drive and out it in a portable case, then ran a USB cable from the glove box to the head unit and downloaded VLC onto it. I had over 400 movies and TV shows on it so when I was sitting in traffic I would just watch movies.
Also, I think there's a 4+64gb version floating around which was like $30 more bucks but shipping was going to take forever so I settled for the middle of the road.

That's a great alternative but for the price, I prefear keep the genuine one and install Android auto.
Hey how ever you wanna spend your $1200 is on you. But I'm not spending that much on a OEM radio that could easily crap out on me again
@@antdo 1200€ ? The genuine Mazda Android Auto and Apple Car play doesn't cost that Much money. About 100€ if you install it by yourself and about 500€ if you ask Mazda to do it.
