You can access the strobe on the olight from the the tail switch when its in the tactical mode. It has 2 operation modes to pick from. My favorite is now the Fenix tk16 v2. Great tail cap switch.

Hey Fenix! If you're watching this. The TK16v2's tailcap is better. Hard plastic buttons on a setup like the TK16v2 would be awesome.

You can program the tale switch on the olight warrior 3 so you can have it dedicated to strobe.

Best tactical ui is Nextorch TA30. Always Turbo with half press and strobe with full press. Independend of that you have a magnetic mode switch ring that starts on low/med/turbo /strobe. So you can get directly low mode if needed but also turbo or strobe .

The tail cap on the pd36 tac is made from machined anodized aluminum the same as the body. It’s the same tail cap they use on the tk11 tac. According to the literature it’s an all metal tail cap that fully resists water and impact. Time will tell I’m guessing. Good reviews big fella. Cheers all.

Interesting, maybe its the spring I hear on the inside that makes the clacky sound. It feels different from the body which is why I thought it might be different.

While you say you like the metal tail switch of the Olight, but don't like it because it has no easy access to strobe.
Is there even such a flashlight?

You keep on saying that there's no strobe on tail switches of M2R Pro and Warrior Mini. Newsflash: THERE IS. you just have to change the mode of the tailswitch from MID-Turbo to Turbo-Strobe. You certainly didn't do your research before reviewing these Olight products.

Yes, maybe I should have clarified the mode switching. I am just so used to triple tapping for strobe and holding for moonlight.

Don't forget the Klarus dual switch tailcap. Best user interface around. I love my Nitecores but Klarus interface is perfect

Fenix lights can be mechanically locked out by a quarter turn of the battery barrel compartment.

99% of lights with a screw on cap can do this.

I bought the pd36 tac. And I kinda hate it. You can’t reliably get 3000 lumens. The momentary portion of the switch is very easy to press. This is a good thing on its own. But it’s a problem because it also cycles the brightness. So, I can pull out and have momentary-pressed it without knowing. And then when I am expecting turbo I am in the lowest mode….can you imagine what would happen in a high stress situation? It’s terrible. I could go with the tactical mode with the 2000 lumens but the candela is pretty bad compared the the candela of other lights like the M2r pro. It has worse candela even at 3000 lumens compared the candela of the M2r at 1800 hundred lumens…
They should made tactical mode be the always-3000 lumen mode. Or at at least not let the momentary depressions cycle the brightness unless the light was already full-depressed and was on the constant on setting.
This I don’t recommend this flashlight for serious use if you are depending on the 3000 lumen mode. At the the tactical 2000 mode turbo there are better lights out there. I would recommend the pd36r instead quite frankly. It has higher candela even at its 1600 lumen mode.
I don’t understand why no one is concerned at this. It’s very bad.

The review did a decent job on the reviews except he totally neglected to mention the weird proprietary Nitecore battery. Nitecore has created a beautiful light and it is very useful BUT they built it to be used with their horrible proprietary battery that the user has to be cautious in using and inserting as unlike most all normal batteries and rechargeable batteries, theirs has not observable +/-. While the battery claims to have safeties built into it one must be mindful and cautious. I currently have the Nitecore P10i with the TSL10i tailcap, it's a great light with all the standard features plus those added in with the TSL10i tailcap but this light is relegated to non-EDC use because of the weird battery.
The reviewed Fenix PD35 TAC on the other hand doesn't have this problem though you do have to remove the battery to recharge it, that's a small issue. The PD36 TAC is my EDC and the potential issues that the review mentioned have NEVER presented themselves to me. Granted, every "tactical light" has their own setup that must be learned and mastered on some levels but after a few minutes of running through them, you'll have it down.

Tac lights really only need full beans and maybe medium. modlites, surefire scouts pro's and 99% of good weapon lights just don't have strobe.

Idk about that fenix tail cap…you said it makes it more simple. I see more parts as more complexity. I mean that ring can be turned easily and therefore a failure point if you need it but it accidentally was set to lock out mode or some other mode you didn’t want.

You need to read the manual before you review a light man. You can make the rear button do strobe

  • @rockspydre

IMO, strobe is useless. On all of these. When you’re throwing out 1500-3000 lumens, you don’t need strobe. Additionally, based on my Fenix and Olights, the strobe frequency is (I think) too fast to cause flicker vertigo. I think flicker vertigo occurs more on the lower region of the 1-20 Hz region. All Fenix and Olights I have tend toward the upper end of the band. In addition, not everyone is very susceptible to flicker vertigo. So why bother with it? The Fenix and Nitecore would be better off eliminating the strobe setting to either clean up their multitude of light modes (3000 lumens only available in Duty, because a switch setting in Tactical is dedicated to strobe), or add another light mode.
Bottom line, IMO, get rid of strobe.

I often see this question and the only reason I can think of thus far for the inclusion of strobe is in consideration for the European/Asiatic markets. Here in the US you can conceal carry with a permit (depending on state) and carry in general thanks to the 2nd amendment, however in other parts of the world average person is severely limited in their capacity for self-defense.

@@LonghornTactical Exactly. Another point is, if you have a gun with strobe its more difficult to aim but if you dont because you are not allowed, you can neglect this and make it harder for the attacker with strobe.
