Very informative. I can barely grasp the concept but if I watch some more videos then maybe I’ll catch on. Just got into skis and I picked my first one off the side of the road. Me and my buddy just got it to start and will be doing some engine work this week. I appreciate the content and subscribed, thanks!
Thank you for great info .just getting back into the watercraft scene .my kawasaki has been in storage for 30 years time to break it out .motor is missing but I have a 701 .port time .brap .brap
Nice video, just subscribed, very nice to see hands on and explained for us visual learners! Don’t have the FB to message you but keep up the videos ✌🏻👍🏻
Great explanation on the reason for cutting the cylinder sleeve ..I am porting a suzuki 700 laydown snowmobile motor and had seen a cylinder with the cut sleeves and actually a hole in the sleeve on the reed valve side ...is there any rule of thumb on how much would be safe to take off to keep support for the piston sleeves?.. or just go ahead what it takes to open the port
HEY ERICK! I have a 1996 Yamaha Wave Raider 1100! Useully runs great! But it stalled twice on me out there....installed new Start/Stop Switch Box & new Starter Solenoid! When I jump the Solenoid terminals it cranks over fine! Nothing when I hit the Green Start Button!!! There in No Power to the White Start/Stop Connector comming from the CDI Box!!! Any idea's?
Much appreciated for making a very informative video it was great info. Could u take some side by side pic of befor porting and after? I'm going to be looking into those templates you made... all good all good
Hi, great video! Have read a fair bit on roof angle issues when you match the casting to the sleeves on the transfer ports. Have you found this to be an issue? Cheers
Excellent helpful video thx Are you doing Kawasaki 750 ?Can you make a video how to make a set up exhaust and jetting out this engine with a factory bpipe or Coffman .How can I buy your stencils?
The Kawasaki 650 and 750 porting videos will be coming out in the next week or so. And you can contact me on Facebook for the templates. Www.facebook.com/ericksonsmandp
Hi thanks for the porting walkthrough was great! Should I or not shorten the sleeve for airflow on a 6mm stroked crank(only extra 3mm down)? Or best to leave for support?
The 2 stroke system has always been a bit of a mystery for me. The cutaway of the system and how it works took away a lifetime of wonder in about 2 minutes . I have a pair of 1995 wave ve tires with the 701 I each . &0 claimed horse power . Would there be a big difference in hp and torque if the porting were done . Both are twin carbs . Ty
Would porting a 61x with a stock pipe make a difference? I’ve got a stock exhaust on my wb1. Pipes are ultra rare and even more expensive in my part of the world. I’ve got an exhaust stinger in the stock pipe. Not looking to build a race boat but I’m curious to know if porting would be beneficial or possibly make it worse.
What 61x cylinders crack it's NORMALLY the water jacket that creates a leak in the hull. It's possible for the sleeves to crack and other things but that's normally from catastrophic engine failure
The 61X cases and reeds don't flow well. Main issue is the size of the reed cages. So adding anything more than a single 46 or a single 44 really isn't a huge benefit you would be better off going to a 62t twin carb set of cases To really see a benefit in twin carbs.
@@EricksonMachinePerformance i got a 1996 sj with a 61x single carb engine . I need more low end ,looking to play around on one spot what should i do? Should i keep that 61x single carb bore it ,pipe, port, or get a 62t dual carb engine ? Any information would be greatly appreciated, thank you
Cant be a 650 casting as 650 ex port much more narrow. The transfer roof miss match if you just take the alloy lip out end up with roof angle too steep. Castings are a dogs breakfast
Obviously the sleeves are totally different size but the actual foundry mold for the aluminum casting is the same for one version of the 6m6 and the 61x. The just used a different exhaust core in the mold. This is the reason the intake ports are mismatched so badly ( its the same hight as the 6m6 ) . Many manufacturers reuse certain parts of older engines to save money. Also the 6m6 bottom case mold is used for the 6m6 , 61x, 62t, 64x cases as well.
I'm going to be doing a 6m6 to 61x conversion video. The 650 can be bored to 701 and then use the 701 templates. I have always done that to 650s instead of just porting

Tira uma dúvida o motor 62t com 2 carburador, é melhor que o 61x uma carburador

Really interesting , from where can I buy those templates?
Thanks

AT 17:02 you mentioned you'll be testing if it's better to have a knife edge or not. just seeing if you figured that out?
We did. You want it more radius then knife edge

Great to hear!! Port makes a big difference also if you add an aftermarket pipe and a milled head it makes a HUGE difference in power output
awesome stuff!
Hii ,great video❤️ 700cc volume ???
Yes 😊

Porting even with a stock pipe makes a difference BUT for the biggest performance gains a pipe is needed

Hi Mark! This porting setup is just for freestyle ski or works for final speed to?
more for freestyle BUT i also have race templetes
Where can I get a single carb manifold for a 62t
Is there anyway to tell if the cylinder is cracked just by how it runs
What 61x cylinders crack it's NORMALLY the water jacket that creates a leak in the hull. It's possible for the sleeves to crack and other things but that's normally from catastrophic engine failure
Can you do heads also or not worth it ?
For a Yamaha 650 ??
Mill them for higher compression? Yes we do that and also have videos on that as well
Yes. And the 650 can be bored to 701
At 9:15 you say dont waste your time on a twin carb set up just go to 62t cases can you please explain what you mean

@@EricksonMachinePerformance its a different ex gasket.
What do you do about roof angle on transfers?
@@msgofast look how castings are made. There is a core used for all voids. Its the SAME CASTING with a different exhaust core used
