  • Watch multiple Challenger 2 battle tanks and various other armoured vehicles with the British Army being transported by MetCalfe Farms (and others). The vehicles were loaded on to trains at the channel tunnel to participate in NATO Exercise Steadfast Defender. The first convoy is shown from several angles.
    Challenger 2 Main Battle Tanks of the Kings Royal Hussars have been transported to Germany for Exercise Combined Resolve, while the Royal Tank Regiment are deployed in Poland for a total of 51 tanks. As well as Challenger Armoured Repair and Recovery Vehicles (CRARRV) of the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers (REME).
    Additionally, Warrior Infantry Fighting Vehicles have been deployed for participation in a number of exercises under Steadfast Defender, including Combined Resolve. These were accompanied by Warrior Mechanized Combat Repair Vehicles (MCRV) of REME.
    This also includes Bulldog Armoured Personnel Carriers that are not armed with a main gun like the Warriors or Challengers.
    These vehicles were transported by MetCalfe Farms, Kings Heavy Haulage, Nick Sampson Mechanical Engineering, FTX Logistics (using British Army Oshkosh 1070F Heavy Equipment Transporters), RLC Transport, and Cook Transport.
    Exercise Steadfast Defender is the largest NATO military exercise to be held since the Cold War. Over 90,000 troops are participating with over 1,200 combat vehicles, over 80 aircraft and over 50 naval assets from all 32 allies, including Sweden. Armed forces traveled by road, sea and air.

    Equipment maintenance and standards are shocking. Those Challengers look like they've come out of BATUS and never been cleaned or repainted.

    Note that only 6 of the 51 tanks deployed are shown at the beginning. 5 of which are shot from multiple angles.

    Just noticed the CR2 has no gun crutch.
    Which is odd.
    Always used on the transporters or trains when I was on CR 1.
    I checked photos and couldn’t see it.

      It does. It's mounted further back , just before the deck plate. It locks the gun just behind the fume extractor.

    Why does every transporter have to have an escort vehicle. Just seems so ridiculous and expensive.

    • @Pesmog
      @Pesmog 27 дней назад

      It may be an MOD requirement relating to contractor heavy haulage as I don't think that there is a UK legal regulation for a truck running under STGO regs to have an escort, although many do.

    • @OhNoYouDidnt
      @OhNoYouDidnt 27 дней назад

      @@Pesmog Yea surely it is, I mean common sense dictates you don't send a challenger 2 down the road worth 4 million quid without some kind of soldiers or MOD staff present to oversee its journey.

    • @user-fz7de4cz4w
      @user-fz7de4cz4w 27 дней назад +1

      It’s UK Law. To move any Abnormal load requires a Movement order and an Escort. STGO 1,2,3 Requires an Escort Pilot to Reduce the load on UK Police forces.

    Great video the bit that worries me the most is that we got civilian contractors obviously in civilian equipment pulling military equipment around do we not have enough military drivers and equipment to be able to move our own military around in House because what’s gonna happen when we need to go to war Sorry Mr minister of defence we can only get half of our tanks there because we haven’t got enough lorries to move them and the guy that does contracting during time he says he’s not going to war he don’t get paid enough money for that crap, how do we get all our stuff there Just thinking out loud to me. It seems strange that every time in these videos we have the same contractor moving a lot of military equipment around when it should be the military moving their own equipment around that’s also part of their training part of their job and if they’re not doing that when we need to go to war, there’s gonna be certain people that are not up to speed because haven’t been doing it, during peace time

      We’ve always relied on Civvy Transporters in the UK. Military Transporters are needed in Theatre elsewhere. I’m ex British Army and we had 16 Tank Transporter Sqn when I was in 22year ago. But we still used Civvy Hauliers to move kit about. Although then it was primarily Kings Heavy Haulage. Who we still use that and Metcalfe.

      Barely enough people to operate the vehicles on the trailers.
      More boat immigrants arrived than British forces has on staff.
