    If you have the Insta360 One X and are wondering why your videos don't look as good as some of the samples you've seen, then this video is for you. Here are 9 techniques for getting the best video quality from the Insta360 One X. Where to buy the gear I used:
    * Insta360 One X with free battery or selfie stick bit.ly/onexdiscount
    * Powerdewise lav mic amzn.to/2RrwYdb Cheap but reliable, decent sound. It's what I used for this video.
    * Rode Wireless Go amzn.to/2XgjYME Wireless lav mic. The transmitter has
    a built-in mic. No need to slip wires through clothes. Pricey but convenient, nice sound.
    * Zoom H1n amzn.to/2XeV93H slim and compact
    * Zoom H2n amzn.to/2IJoOZz thicker than H1n but has spatial audio microphone

      Mic, thank you for your kind advice to us beginners! I have a problem with viewing vidto s that are on the camera over Wi-Fi with my IPhone SE. The videos on the camera are then so jolting, starting and stopping, and skipping, the audio also gets so badly distorted than one cannot understand speech. If I download the video to my phone and then play it, it is viewable and speech is intelligible. Is my Insta360 one x WiFi transmitter bad, my micro sd-card bad or my iPhone SE not powerful enough? I use a Sandisk Extreme 128GB U3 A2. Also, I would love a beginner tutorial on 360 photos, because the stitch line on photos are as bad as on videos on my camera. Really love your videos, you are very good at teaching as well as very knowledgeable👍 Thank you so much for your guidance! Best regards, Ken from Finland

      @@kenspaceman3938 Thank you very much Ken! The wireless viewing mode is just a preview, intended to let you decide whether to download the video to your phone. On my Samsung S10, the video jolts every 5 seconds or so. For the stitch line on photos, try to click on optimize stitching. BTW how far away are the objects that have stitching problems?

    • @kenspaceman3938
      @kenspaceman3938 5 лет назад

      Mick, I have tried clicking the optimize button but it didn’t help minimizing the stitch line on the floor. I have had the camera on a fully extended Insta360 invisible stick.

      This is the best quality I got out of insta 360 by using a cinemascope aspect ratio to get the maximum pixels in the frame. Also kept the ISO to minimum to reduce any digital noise.

      360Rumors hmm the only editing related feature I want in studio is being able to set time lapses like on mobile. I really hope they don’t waste their time on trying to add in too many editing options to studio. Personally I’d rather them not even focus on making their own stand alone editor at all really. Just focus on making plugins for resolve and premier, with 360 specific features. I’m thinking something similar to what Borris FX does, but by Insta360 for 360

    Please offer us your commentary on the red spot which floats around your head like a mosquito at some points in this video. I presume it's related to a sun flare in some way, but different due to this being a 360 camera. Hi Mr. Klaw. Good question. It's ok if you can *see* the side of the camera. The problem is only when you are directly along the stitch line. Imagine there is a giant 6-foot wide flat disc that runs along the stitch line. If that disc is going to hit you or your subject, then you're in the stitch line. Change the angle of camera so that the disc doesn't hit anyone or anything important. Does that clarify? Pls. let me know if you have any questions!

    Great video, have been a subscriber for some time!
    Insta360 Studio 2019 just prompted me to download Insta360 Studio 2020. It doesn't replace Studio 2019, but installs alongside it. I can't seem to find anything on the new version online. The main difference I'm seeing is that it now adds "Chromatic calibration" under "stitching calibration", and on export, they've grouped ColorPlus and "remove grain" into an "AI effects" category where you can choose either "Remove grain (night)" or "ColorPlus (day)".
    What has be puzzled, though, is that when exporting freecapture video, in Studio 2019 the default bitrate was for 1080p, h264 video was 18Mbps; in Studio 2020, the default is 75 Mbps. The original Insta360 files are 49Mbps per lens, so roughly 100Mbps for 360º video (correct my if I'm wrong), so this new default 70Mbps bitrate for 1080p overcapture videos seems kind of pointless. Could it be accomodating changes/higher bitrates for the One R?
    Here in Spain we're in hard lockdown because of the whole COVID-19 business, so I'm not even aloud to leave the house and will tinker around with these settings a bit to see if there are any noticeable quality differences, but was wondering if anyone else had come across this and what your take on it is. Stay safe and thanks in advance for your thoughts!

      Hey there Trav! I can understand the difficulty with lockdown. In Los Angeles we are locked down too. About Insta360 Studio, if you have the Studio 2020, you won't need 2019. Re bitrate, I think it does make a difference but I haven't tested yet.

      Hi Wheelz. Sometimes yes you'll end up in the stitch line. So you need to find the best position based on stitching and glare. For example, if avoiding glare means you'll be in the stitch line, perhaps you could move to a position where you won't be in the stitch line.

    In terms of quality, what has always intrigued me is the question in which areas of a resulting picture the quality is highest or lowest, as in some areas the pixels will be 'stretched' more than in other areas. (very likely with a different answer for any of the warping modes). I would be grateful for any relevant information. Anything you can share?
    And what practical rules of thumb for filming for highest quality do follow from this knowledge?
    I have not been succesfull finding any info on that, apart from my general knowledge about lenses and projections. But what I do not know is which design or warping choices were made in e.g. specifically my insta360 one x and how do they work out.

    • @360vroomers
      @360vroomers  5 лет назад

      Hi Chris! Great question. Just like other lenses, the best quality is usually in the middle area of the lens. And yes the projection will have an impact on image quality. Rectilinear can stretch at the edges more than fisheye, but more important than that is not to zoom in too much. For shooting, this means you usually have to be close to the subject to get good detail without having to zoom. I hope this helps! 😀

    • @cbaten2
      @cbaten2 5 лет назад +1

      @@360vroomers yes that figures, I am ( a little) in image processing business myself so I am quite aware of the options, and I can second guess what happens somewhat. Still there quite a few options left for them to choose from. I just wondered what they exactly do, or what is exactly their resulting resolution mapping after doing all their optimizations. But your assessment is probably a good first rule of thumb: just try to have your main subject in the middle of any of the 2 lenses. Another reason to try to stay away from the stitching lines where possible.
      I also quickly learned to not stretch it too much with zooming and just enjoy the image in its entirety where possible.
      Still, if we would know the exact details of the pixel area mapping over the whole picture in each mode (including all their smart tricks) we could further squeeze more quality out of this in post.
      Best would be to find a smart test set-up to find out.

If you zoom out to 180deg view then technically it has 4k of detail so if you use a wide view like that you can use 3840x2160 (But with a tiny planet projection, the center part will be very detailed while the outer part of the planet would have much less detail.) I hope this helps!

As for #8, I try using a bit rate close to 100Mbps as the target bitrate on premier, as I've heard the higher the better the video will look when exporting with H.264. Hi Jenna. you can combine one x videos with non-360 videos. There are two ways to do it: either the one x video is in 360, and then you convert the non-360 video into a 360 video (it will look like a floating screen). Alternatively, you can convert the one x video into an overcapture non-360 video, which can be combined with other regular non-360 videos. here is a tutorial for editing one x videos in premiere: ruclips.net/video/iSPYT_tdobI/видео.html

    • @360vroomers
      @360vroomers  5 лет назад

      Hi Full Cyrcle. When you edit the One X on your phone, 360 videos are downconverted into 4K. That's one possibility. If you're posting your 360 video as a non-360 freecapture / overcapture / fixframe video, then you will not lose detail, although you don't have control over the bitrate. Another possibility is that you may be seeing motion blur which is more visible on youtube if you're viewing on a larger screen.

    I think editing in viewfinder on the phone is the easiest using the phone gyroscope instead of keyframing as it looks more natural.
    Is there a way to edit in the phone app, then export it into FCPX or Premiere Pro so it is still 5.7k? This way we can have 1080p footage as we look around the screen.

    1080 is not good quality video!! The main downfall with the Insta cameras is the compromised video resolution output. The current trend is 4K. Rendered Insta videos are at best noisy 1080p... which is a pity as the concept is good.

    • @360vroomers
      @360vroomers  3 года назад

      If you want high quality video, then even a smart phone will provide better quality than a consumer 360 camera. The purpose of a 360 camera is completely different - 3rd person view, invisible flying camera effect, shoot without aiming, super stabilization. Those are the benefits of 360. If resolution is more important than those benefits, use a non-360 camera. For situations where those benefits are more important, use a 360 camera.
