I pray everyone watching this has a speedy recovery, and we all can recover from this mentally and physically exhausting injury and walk perfectly again!🥰 I just had surgery yesterday, so I'm just now climbing this hill, any advice is SO WELCOME. Love and Light❤❤❤
Just started weight bearing 7 Weeks after my tibial surgery! I highly recommend pushing yourself to your limit when you can start to walk. For me it was stressful but I was able to go from no weight to walking in about a week. It hurt at first but just remember the pain is temporary!
Try to do non weight-bearing exercises, it will help with recovery a lot and regaining fitness, I skipped that and have sciatica again, and it will be ok, stay active with crutches, do as much as you can and be patient with yourself, after all who the hell is used to walk on 1 leg with full body weight! Follow the video with the motocyclist guy, he has the full process…this lady has the walking part, and also doing exercises after cast removed will help get the movement back to your feet.

This gave me hope and made me cry a little. Idk why it’s important to see it happening but while in bed elevating and doing little, it helps. Thank you for this video.
It was awesome to see your progress in this way. I too am now laying here two weeks after surgery, lots of hardware, wondering if I will ever walk right again. Thank-you so much for your excellent, encouraging video! ❤
Thank you for sharing this video. Im currently 5 weeks post op from tibia/fib fracture and placed in a boot 2 weeks ago. Im currently limited to toe touch but moving to weight bearing this week 😊 This entire healing process is emotionally and physically draining. After watching your video makes me feel hopeful that I'll be back to walking normally very soon. I pray for anyone going through a similar healing journey gets well soon.
Thanks so much for the video. It’s motivation! This has been more than a journey for me! I’m watching your 30 day progression after cast removal I’m actually trying to keep up! My goal is to be in a shoe by day 30. I pray no one ever have to go through this it’s the most awful thing that ever happened to me! But I thank God for healing and blessings me through this!
@@jenniffer86 yeah it was rough and not easy at all and if you feel like you need more time take more time. When I took my first step I was terrified!!!!! But I had my family member with me to make sure I don’t fall after I did it I walked more and more each day. It still takes awhile after you are walking to get use to it and to trust your ankle. Now it has been almost 2 years 1 1/2 years and my ankle feels great besides I have damaged nerves in it but I jog and walk fine. I haven’t ran or did any jumping off of anything
I pray everyone has a speedy and safe recovery!!! I broke both sides of my ankle and tore my ligament. I broke my fibula and tibia. I had such a bad fall about a month ago. I got surgery April 22nd and was in a cast for 2 weeks and now in a boot! I am now toe-touch weight bearing. It’s really hard and mentally draining and exhausting! I am so scared because of the trauma from the fall to even try and walk again. This gave me hope!👼🏻❤️
@@AthenaMarina3 I actually feel so much better now! I can walk almost perfectly. The only thing is when the weather is bad you can literally feel the metal in your leg and it feels uncomfortable.
I am five days out of the cast- thanks to this video I had enough courage to take those first few steps. I am watching this video daily to improve my steps post ORIF. Thank you!
I waited until I was 57 to break a bone (smile). I have searched for videos on recovery and I loved what you did. I wish I had thought about it when I started the process. I have learned a lot post-injury. I appreciate your time and effort to make this inspirational video. God Bless you!
I laughed a bit when I read this, I was 54 when I first broke a bone 6 months ago! And had to do it in spectacular style, trimalleor and dislocation. Nothing like seeing your own foot hanging off! After being told non weight bearing for 6-8 weeks, I naively thought that after 2 months I'd just get up and walk😂 It's probably better that I didn't know what was ahead!
I had my plaster removed today after 2 months.. And every phase has been like oh almost there.. I never enjoyed watching someone walk so much.. Thank you..
I'm on Day 10 and it's looking similar to your Day 13, but let me just say that I watched this video just a few days after surgery and it's been on my mind every day since. It's been incredibly helpful to see how the process can look on a daily basis.
I’m 5 weeks post ORIF and was told today to practice walking in the boot and watching this made me feel so much better. That first step today was painful and scary and made me think like how will I ever be able to do this. Watching this was exactly what I needed. Thank you so much.
Great video! I had a trimalleolar fracture on Dec 27th 2020, it was a really bad injury. I was put in an external fixture (steal poles in my leg) for 2 weeks before main repair surgery on Jan 13th. Then Was in a cast for 6 weeks followed by walking boot for a number of weeks. I removed the boot and started PT 3 weeks ago but still couldn't walk without crutches. I finally took my 1st step today without crutches after 4 months. I am a grown man with 3 young kids and I can tell you its physically and emotionally draining trying to recover. The pain is 1 thing but the fact that you can't play with your kids and do house work is a killer
It's a long journey. I came back to watch this to see what my progress is. And I know I'm making progress like you did. Thank you for showing us your progression.
Thank you SO much for posting this video! Almost 5 weeks ago, I had surgery to repair a trimalleolar fracture of my left leg. I now have a plate and 11 screws in it! In a little over a week, at my 6 week appointment, they ill likely have me start bearing weight on it with crutches like you have demonstrated in this video. Looking at how flaccid my lower leg looks, I'm so afraid of how that will all go down. I know I will gradually build up strength but I have no idea how long that will take. I totally needed to watch this video to give me a sense of the progression. It made me cry! I hope your ankle is doing well now!
I got 8 screws and a plate in my leg on Sept 7 2021. I train Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai. Getting my ankle moving and controlling my toes has been a process and honestly ive been getting sad about my slow progress because I see people online saying it may be a year before ill be able to be normal again. ive been wearing shorts and a tshirt and bathing every other day ( i used to shower 3-4 times a day) and not working out at all ( i used to train at least 15 hours a week). After watching your video Tuesday night i decided to try to go back to living my life as if i wasnt broken because of you. I started wearing regular clothes and showering twice daily. i started working out with bands and today i started driving with the right foot again. i improved my range of motion and strength in my ankle by 2 or 3 times. My PT was surprised how much Ive improved in literally two days. He honestly didnt believe it. You really gave me the courage to start pushing myself. Thanks so much for this video. All you did was show us you can walk and youve become my inspiration. Thank you so much.
Thanks for making this video. I’ve watched it a number of times. It’s really inspired me as I’ve started walking again after my ankle surgery. Great job!
Thank you for posting this! I waited till I was 59 to break any bones. I broke my ankle in 3 places, had surgery & fibular post, tightrope, & screws installed. I am 12 weeks post surgery, been full weight bearing in a boot for 4 weeks, and will get a brace & start therapy next week. It was so encouraging watching your progress. I wish I had found your video sooner.
I needed to see this video. 12 weeks after 2 plates and 18 screws to put my right leg and ankle back together-this is day 2 of the boot and I’m frustrated that I can hardly even handle putting full weight on my ankle. This eases my frustration. Thank you for sharing your journey!!
Ya I was 12w no weight bearing too, I’m 6mo. Since ORIF and can do short walks without a cane … in the morning I can walk almost normal but by end of day I’m back in my brace and limping
Thank You for posting. I am struggling physically and mentally. The boot is painful. But watching you gave me HOPE. it wont happen overnight. but it will happen with practice.
@@DannyWifi hey! Yes I was in the boot for a month and now I’m finally walking with both of my shoes. My foot still gets swollen so compression socks are a must for me. Still feel a bit pressure as I’m walking but glad to be finally on both of my feet!

I'm at DAY 3 after my surgeon told me I could start walking on my leg again and I seem to be tracking with your video exactly. I went to the barber today to get a haircut and was able to move about ok but I still need the crutches. Similar situation to you. Broke my ankle in 3 places too. Tried to take a step today without the crutches and wasn't successful. I'm watching your video everyday to try and sync my progress to yours. Thanks for this video. It is soooooo helpful.
it so encouraging to hear other people's stories on progress. my leg is gaining stability day by day. my Physio wined me off boot and crutches are only for outside now. week 8 after surgery and week three after cast removal.
@@zoemabaso599 - Wow. I'm just the opposite. Done with the crutches but can't get rid of the boot. Tried a pair of sandals (loose fitting for the swelling) today but it didn't go well. Pain and balance problems. Can't return to driving until I get back into shoes. Can't rush it either. It's a challenge. Good luck. This isn't easy.
I’m two weeks post surgery. I had some hardware installed & I’m super nervous about it all. Your video has given me more hope that I’ll be okay throughout my process. Thank you.
You bring tears, to my eyes. So happy for you! This really gives me hope. Haven't walked with two feet, i n three months. Was cleared, just yesterday, to start to put some weight back on it. Had total rebuild of my right foot.

A few weeks ago, I suffered a Lisfranc fracture. I had surgery done on 03/10/21, hopefully one day I’ll be able to walk and run again. Your video gives me hope!. Thank you
I also broke my ankle in three places in July. I was given a boot at six weeks and told to go start mobilising. I normally like to be spontaneous in life but with this experience, I craved very specific instructions. Left to my own devices, I took to RUclips and just wanted to say that your post is the most motivational for me. I'm four days in to taking my first steps and increasing the number each day. I know you are now walking (yay) and you have been great at responding to all the questions asked, so I hope I'm not repeating but it would be great to know how much you practised each day? I started with two lengths of my favourite big rug and double it every day but I'm wondering if I should be doing much more? I don't get to see a physio for another three weeks. My niece made me a great soundtrack of songs about walking for my rug endeavours. Take care and thank you for sharing your experience.
I hope everything went well for you and your walking perfectly now! I just had my surgery yesterday, it is SO PAINFUL! I just can't wait to be able to recover from this mentally exhausting injury. I'd love to hear your rug remix lol, you got 1 awesome niece there😊😉😄😇
They supposed to give you a physio appointment, I was craving it after 1 week in boot, had a phone appointment and in 6 weeks appointment, in the meantime they gave me exercises, if they don’t give it to you good to speak to a physical therapist. It will ease our minds. I must say after 1 week in boot it is improving nicely, just keep going and will improve
Reading all the comments of what happen to them and watching this video, it really gives me hope and let’s me know I’m not alone, I hope we all make a speedy recovery ❤️🩹❤️
I’m on my first day of moonboot. Got about four weeks to go before I can move on. I can’t wait for the day I get back at it! Thanks for the video. I’ll be watching it over and over till the finish! 🙏
@@scratch8954I can walk without crutches, but can’t run can’t tip toe. Still sharp pain inside after any exercise. Going to do another surgery soon to remove all the hardware, hopefully it can get better.
I watch this video several times a day to make sure I’m doing it correctly. Each day I get a little bit stronger. I’m down to one crutch and even managed to take a few steps without it. I know I will get there and this vid gives me hope.
I was playing basketball and when I had jumped up to block a kids shot I fell on my foot and broke the bottom of it luckily I don’t need any surgery and I’m 17 years old so I recover quickly. It sucks because going to school in crutches is one of the hardest things I’ve done in my life. But it’s motivational to see myself get better everyday. Today marks 2 weeks since I got injured and I am weight bearing just like your #10 day. One piece of advice I would give to everyone who is injured that if you can move your body part that is injured make sure to keep it moving even if it hurts. Obviously don’t go to excruciating pain but still bear some of the pain and push past your fears, your body might surprise you. While I’m in bed I would always crunch my toes or try to move my ankle ever so slightly with my hands. At some point of your recovery journey it’s your fear prolonging your injury rather than the actual injury itself
Thank you for sharing your recovery - watching it (with great attention) after a similar injury has helped a lot in visualising progress! I hope you're doing well now too. I had surgery immediately, and had a boot. I was told I could bear weight with the boot, but it wasn't possible to walk as the boot was so massive. I only wore it when I had to move around. I did a lot of exercises while I was lying around. At 3 weeks I was liberated from the boot - this week I have been going better and better. I am more confident and flexing the foot when walking 🎉 I am hopeful this morning, 24 days post surgery.
Oh my goodness I’m so happy I found your video literally an eye opener something I really needed so thank you. it’s been 7 weeks since my surgery I had gotten the ok to start walking but I am finding it hard. I’ve been limping with a cane and it’s so tiring, after seeing your video it made me realize it’s ok to use my Walker. I’ve been trying to walk for 4 days only and I expected so much. Thank you once again ❤
Thank you so much for posting this, I broke every bone in my ankle and had to have ALOT of hardware in my ankle as well. It's inspiring watching your progress and knowing I too will progress one day at a time 🙂
I've had 2 ankle injuries. One required surgery. The struggle is definitely real, but taking it day by day mentally is what it takes. The platforms to add to your shoe is a MUST to help walking with the boot *can be purchased from Amazon & returned when no longer needed.
@@Jzo127 I didn't say you had to keep it. I said it was scummy to return it. Pass it along, put it in a thrift store, put it on Facebook Marketplace... but returning things to the seller after you have used them is scummy.
I'm 2 weeks past from my ankle surgery and my Ortho put me in a boot instead of a cast because of how well my body is healing (stay off the pain medication as much as you can people! It'll suck at times, but you'll be shocked how much better and faster your body will heal). I get to start moving my ankle to strengthen the muscles in it now and start weight bearing in 3 weeks. This gave me so much hope for getting to full weight bearing quickly. My Ortho told me he wants to see me walking in the boot without crutches by my next visit in a month, so this video shows me that it's definitely a realistic timeline for that! Thanks so much!
@@user-wb2yv7ll9d anytime! I just recently hit my 1 year anniversary since surgery and I've made a full recovery. Stay focused on your goal (walking again) and do everything your doctor recommends. Don't try to rush yourself. Once you get to the PT phase, go through it for a couple months. They will give you some good exercises to regain your strength and mobility.
@@JHSmithmusic That's awesome to hear, really appreciate the advice! Did you do anything specific as far as nutrition throughout the period you were healing? Thanks 🙂

I’m on a 10-day weight bearing progression which is a lot quicker than I anticipated, but I’m listening to my body first and foremost. so glad your recovery went well ❤ thanks for sharing this!!
Glad to hear your walking again. I too slipped on some ice going down steps in January. Today 5/20/24 my doctor said all the bones are healed and I’m walking with no aids.

Heck, yeah. Thank you for this video. It's motivating for when I get to that point. Right now, I'm in the boot, non-weight bearing. Can't wait to start walking again.
Okay, I'm on day 5 and still having to use crutches. Still hurts to walk. Looks like you started trying full weight bearing on day 7. So that will be my goal as well
I'm 2 days post ORIF and i can't even describe how bad it hurts. I'm trying to stay positive as much as possible but i can't think straight with this pain. @scratch8954 I'm back at work. Been back for about 5-6 weeks now. I'm still doing physical therapy twice a week, which is helping. Although if I'm on my leg for too long, it starts to throb. Then at the end of the day, after working for 8 hrs in a Deli department, I end up going home and icing my leg for a little while. That definitely helps. I have noticed worse days than others.

@@San-tc8lehi! Not sure if you’ll see this but when you refer to the weather as “bad” do you mean as in cold or hot or both? Thank you!

Me too ORIF as well 😢, i hope we all get well soon.
U recovered already right? Since is 2 years ago already
@@guiabanana8642I 3 weeks post orif? U already walking properly already?
I’m glad you’re recovering well!
This sounds like it must have been so difficult. I hope you recovered beautifully and are back to playing with your kids!
Great job!
Thanks for sharing your story, hope your re doing great.

This is so helpful! Im in my 8th week since i broke my ankle. Your day 21 is where im at right now.
My niece made me a great soundtrack of songs
about walking for my rug endeavours. Take care and thank you for sharing your experience.

Thank You ! I broke my ankle while in Hawaii on vacation. Just got my hard cast after surgery last week. Your video is inspiring!
I am more confident and flexing the foot when walking 🎉
I am hopeful this morning, 24 days post surgery.
Oh my goodness I’m so happy I found your video literally an eye opener something I really needed so thank you. it’s been 7 weeks since my surgery I had gotten the ok to start walking but I am finding it hard.
Or... maybe since you used it you just keep it. What is wrong with people? This isn't a free rental program
@Hammer.J.Helmer why keep something you don't have anymore use for?
@@Jzo127 I didn't say you had to keep it. I said it was scummy to return it. Pass it along, put it in a thrift store, put it on Facebook Marketplace... but returning things to the seller after you have used them is scummy.
I just watched you yesterday your video how you walk and you gave me so much confidence thank you so much money to keep
Glad I was able to help! I hope you recover quickly :)

Thank you for the video. It’s motivational and informative to see the progression.
Thank you for posting this! I’m also trying to get rid of my limping and I was wondering how long it would take. I just got out of a boot last week. Everyday I’m making small progress
I am 6 days since learning to walk again with the boot. Hope to be able to walk again.
How are you?
Thankyoufor this informative and inspiring video. My greatest frustration is that my surgical team only tell me about the next immediate stage. Not allowing me to plan for my recovery long term.
This is the stage I'm at right now, 6 weeks post ORIF and have been given a walking boot this morning. Took my first tentative steps this afternoon. On the road to recovery. :-)
How’re you now? I’ve been on boot 2 days now? How much pressure did you put during the time in now?
That's so exciting! I hope your walking has been going well :)
@@sharminbegum4271 Definitely let your doctor's advice be your guide, but I relied heavily on the crutches in the beginning, and slowly added weight as I was comfortable.
Doing well now, boot came off about 4 weeks ago, been getting stronger ever since. Ankle's feeling good. :-)
Thank so much for this video, it fills me with hope
Get my stitches out tomorrow, but will still be 2 more weeks on the scooter before I’m weight bearing. Can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel finally.
I just went through this, started learning to walk again at 6.5 weeks and I was off crutches by 11 weeks (:
That’s awesome how are you now? I’m on 7 weeks, started walking with boot 1 crutch, after tib fib surgery.
Great job.. i cant wait to walk soon. Still recovering
This gives me hope. Love you🥺
I'm happy I was able to help :)
This gives me hope as I just got a boot today after the cast was removed and I am terrified of the pain of learning to walk again.
How long u had a cast ????
@@tippytoez8685 I was in a cast for 2 weeks then I was in a boot for about 3-4 weeks. I learned how to walk with the boot now trying to learn to walk without the boot. Its been 7 weeks post surgery and the doctor gave me the ok.
How are you?? ❤
Thankyou for sharing this 💚
I found the hardest part after wearing the boot was to keep my toes down when I walk. It's funny having to learn to rewalk but awesome what the body can do 😍
Hey I have just began in a boot I have to wear for 6 weeks I’m 2 weeks post op it’s glad to see you get better :) and thanks for sharing as it gives me hope
I'm glad the video helped you, best of luck with your recovery!
I’m 7 weeks post-op ORIF and just got my cast removed today and now have a boot. Your progress is amazing. Did you have physical therapy as well?
Hell yeah! Awesome job you just kept on going.
