After I made a plan, I found it easier to work towards ditching the boot entirely. I am also trying to get my hips and back realigned. Thanks for the encouraging video
Thanks for watching!!
Thank you for telling me this, I am in the final stages of healing from a tibia fracture
I broke both calcaneus 9 months ago. One required surgery. I was in a wheelchair for 8 weeks and my ankle which required surgery was in a boot/ cast cast 3.5 months. The muscle atrophy was unreal. six months out the boot, my leg is slowly gaining strength in both the calf and quad which still have significantly less volume than the leg which was in a boot for only six weeks. My rehab on leg continues - if slower than I had thought.
Good luck on the recovery!
Thank you! 😊
Hey man really appreciate this super helpful. Tore my achilles and had surgery December 19th 2023. Transitioning out of the boot this week.
Thanks for the kind words. Good luck on the recovery!
I tore my achilles 2 days ago not so much to need surgery but the boot is too heavy and the pain too much. How did you deal with the pain?
@angypapa2191 oh man, I just tore my Achilles a week ago...and transition to the boot in another week...so your saying the boot is more uncomfortable than the cast? Yikes...I'm not looking forward to that. It does look like it's going to make your foot very sweaty too
I just got my cast removed. Having worn a cast for so long with a stirrup has caused my hip and back to be out of alignment, so now I need to restore good back posture as well as work on flexibility of my foot and leg. My foot has been flexed and the ligaments have been contracted for so long that it is painful trying to stretch out my foot and knee. This will take time to work it out gradually.
Great video learned alot from this video. Speedy recovery so far on my channel.
Great to hear!
Love it! Cheers
Thanks for watching!
I fractured my fibula 6 weeks go - im in a boot and am about to begin weight bearing walking with the boot on for the the next 6 weeks (recommended by my doc) I play ulti directional sports and am very nervous about the tendon recovery from being immobilized. I like how you mentioned to have a plan/strategy for increased movement daily/weekly/monthly until back in the sports I love. Do you have any charts you've created with reasonable ranges for movements?
Thank you - am trying not to rely on the boot . Recovering from snapping my ankle . My bones recovered since surgery but now I am focusing on walking
Good luck on the recovery!
My question was how do I walk again. Do I use a cane?? I’m recovering from ankle surgery and my boot comes off in four weeks. I’m afraid
@@toyamoniquecoleman3795how did it go??
@@toyamoniquecoleman3795 Did you get your boot off yet are you walking question mark
@@fooffieI’m supposed to get the boot off this Tuesday. But I have learned how to walk with it. It was like riding a bike 😊
I had walking boot n no weight for 6 months. Plate....4 pins...n 14 screws to put my foot back on bone. Now i can walkvwithout hoot but nervous still. What do u think???
Great info. Thanks!
Thank you!
Im healing from a climbing injury that affected my ankle (specifically the motion of standing on your toes and stretching my foot downward). Ive been in the walking cast for 2 months. What exercises would you recommend once im out of the cast?
I just had my cast removed, and the Doc did not give any instructions on "how" to gradually start walking again. The ligaments and muscles in my foot, knee and ankle are very stiff and hurts from having it casted in one position for a while as well as from carrying the weight of the cast.
So I am going to start by slowly stretching my foot, knee and ankle to restore flexibility and release the stiffness. Having flexibility is the key to balance and stability of the foot. Then afterwards, I think I will gradually do weight bearing on the foot using my crutches or a cane as support.
@@m.taylorhow's your recovery? I'm so scared to walk 😢
@@ccMomOfJays My fracture did not heal in a good alignment so I am walking with a slight limp and chronic pain in my foot. The stiffness will last a while. I was doing flexibility exercises hourly each day.
If it is a fracture you have and the doc says you can start walking, do it gradually. I would avoid rigorous sports or jumping for at least a year. For the ankle/foot stiffness, there are 4-way flexing exercises shown on RUclips. Start with them before you try walking, because the muscles will be weak and need strengthening. I hope your recovery goes smoothly! 🙏🙏
I had a broken ankle, been in a cast for 2months, after i didn't get a boot, i am exercising my foot daily .but i wonder when will i walk normally with no crutches
How's you're recovery? I'm so scared to walk
I sprained my ankle and broke my foot fourteen weeks ago. The bone is healed, but the MRI still showed a sprain. I am transitioning out of the boot. However, enter the complication. He believes I may have acquired CRPS. I have been referred to physical therapy and a pain specialist. I wasn’t able to get into physical therapy for a full month and the pain specialist can’t get me in for two months. I’ve been told that I have to get moving because of the CRPS or I won’t be able to move. The fear and pain are intense. How do I transition in this interim before pt and the pain specialist. What can I do to improve?
Have you gotten better? Sorry to hear you had to endure that, that's awful
How's your recovery? I'm so scared to walk
For those specifically will malleolus fractures who have had ORIF surgery - PLEASE google early weight bearing vs delayed weight bearing. Your surgeon is wrong, and is completely ignoring the published science. Science states that post ORIF for ankle surgery that early weight bearing is safe and as the video states, avoids all the issues you have by delaying weight bearing. Do the research, the published papers can be a tad confusing but they all offer summaries. Take it to your surgeon and ask why you're delayed - why you're in a cast 6-8 weeks, etc. It's wrong.
Nah get Altras and then Lems and then Freet because On Cloud has a narrow toe Box
Okay so Altra has the Olympus that are thicker than the Escalante. Also, even the Escalantes are thick. Just not AS thick as the Olympus.
