Hello Ms Gita, my mother and grandmother used to make idles laying a leaf of the turmeric plant on the steel idli mounds. The result was idlis with the delicate fragrance of the turmeric plant and shoots. Truly a heavenly treat.
Namaskara 🙏my annapoorani Ma! I'll never will miss watching ur new receipes, ma. Slightly busy with work, ma. This is quite different method of making idli. Wonderful ma, let me try this way of making idlis and chutney, ma. I feel this is easy for a learner like me and of course all the young and old ladies to prepare this. Super! Ma. ❤ Now, I've started to prepare some easy receipes daily. Thank you for being a guide to all of us who are watching ur new receipes everyday. Continue with ur lovely hands. Let God bless you and uncle who stands as a great support to u in recording every single new preparation... ❤ma
Namaste mam. Thanks for sharing a different way of cooking idlis in coconut shells not heard before along with a spicy green coconut chutney. A good idea of making idlis in this way... My pranams to both of you mam.
Good morning Ma’am. WOW how lovely u look in that color. Thanks for the recipe but here in Singapore we hardly use whole coconuts to enable us to get the shell. 🙏🙌🙌🙌❤️❤️
Gitaji, could u pls tell me if the taste/smell of the idli is coconutty? Usually when banana leaves/haldi leaves r used in cooking, the smell of the leaf gets imbibed in the cooked item. Would be curious to know if it is the same with idlis.
Instead of applying oil and directly pouring idly batter into the coconut she'll, use treated banana leaf, or jackfruit leaf, or grape leaf. These are traditionally used to make idlys in different regions. These will add flavor to idlys, and easy to take them out or cleaning.
Hi, good evening mam.. recipe is excellent as usual.. of course it is creative idea..but using coconut shell in cooking is not much appreciated in maharashtrian families . we assume tht it brings misfortune, unluck.. it is symbol of penniless.. although nariyal is treated as very auspicious fruit, broken coconut is not treated as auspicious as the whole one.. so we don't prefer to use coconut shell in day to day life.. rest, it is everyone's own point of view.. 😊

Reuse, repurpose, recycle at it's finest... to learn something new, look to the old. Nature's own home grown idli molds, fabulous 😁👍🙏

It's good but not particularly coconut taste
Gita in Kerala we make coconut shell puttu also... using the shell having three eyes....v can keep it on the pressure cooker and make puttu
That's interesting I have to try it some time
Are these idlis more fluffier than normal idlies
They were very spongy
Nice video. By the way what brand of do you use(or would recommend) to make the coconut chutney? Thanks
I use this amzn.to/3xuGxRU but you can use any brand
👍👍🙏❤️
Great idea! For the idli, do you soak rice and dal together?
No soaked and ground separately
In the hotel where the base of the idlis white or slight brown?
I did not eat in hotel Only saw it !
