Youjeen came out of retirement when RM asked her to be on track, she also usually don't agree to collabs. She was the front woman of the rock band called Cherry Filter. Lyrics are great so recommend you looking them up.
You said that you'd read the lyrics later; I highly recommend you watch the MV, even if you do it on your own time, to get the full impact of the lyrics. I'm sure you won't regret it, and it will only take a few minutes of your time. (You can thank me later, lol.)😉
I agree. You will see and hear it in a new way. I think she and many other female vocalists do that mic tap emulating Whitney Houston. Just my take. She was the first person I've seen with the habit.
@@1marieleathem Yoon Min-soo of the R&B duo Vibe also does it, although it's not nearly as pronounced in this clip: ruclips.net/video/2sc6YvZzUlc/видео.html
17:00 According to the interview she sat for in the making-of film that accompanied the album, Youjeen initially questioned why RM wanted her for this song. She feared that the power in her voice + style of Rock singing would overwhelm the sort of measured intensity you described in RM's rapping & the overall mood of the song. Thankfully, he convinced her that the contrast in types of intensity was exactly the feel he wanted for, "Wildflower." The original Korean title of the song translates to, "Flowerwork," in English (which Youjeen sings in the chorus); a portmanteau that RM coined of wildflower + firework. Traditional Korean/Chinese fireworks (nakhwa nori), are tied onto long strings which are then strung across water, such as a river, in order to contain & extinguish any resulting fires. Because they are hung in this way, the flames fall down, rather than shooting upward as with the pyrotechnics that we're accustomed to today. Brief example from the behind the scenes of the MV: ruclips.net/video/RpUMU8D1O6g/видео.html If you picture those fireworks, but made of [flaming?] wildflowers, you get a sense of what he was visualizing. The song basically expresses his desire to live his life more like a tranquil wildflower rooted in an open field, than a brief fire suspended in the air that burns spectacularly for a brief moment then is snuffed in an instant. There's a very good breakdown of the translation & interpretation of the Hangul & RM's here: twitter.com/JlNSONYEONDAN/status/1597989641453719553
69 year old granny, just love BTS. Totally blown away with the fact that RM has input on both the lyrics and production of most of their songs. His lyrics are amazing ❤
RM chooses his singing partners very carefully. They often have a higher register than he does..they compliment his rap and singing. He listens to a lot of music and the people he picks are from all over the place. His album "Indigo" ( which he pronounes Indeego) is very good. This song is one of the tracks.
For some reason, I find Youjeen's mic tapping very comforting. :) and I love how you were explaining RM in the beginning because I actually feel like it explains the intention of the song even though you didn't have the lyrics. Very cool.
This song is a masterpiece! Please watch the music video, it's gorgeous! RM's voice and lyricism are amazing. Youjeen's voice accented it so nicely. This song should have won awards! 💜
Rolling Hall is a Fantastic, Dream-Fulfilled for Namjoon, since when he was young it was where the best Artists appeared. His obvious delight in featuring the Guests, many of whom were relatively unknown (especially in the International Fandom) made it even more special.
Imagine Youjeen as the Korean Gwen Stefani - from back in the 90s. In an interview she said she was very nervous about this whole project, especially singing live.
I'm always brought to tears listening to this song. Just goes to show how amazing RM is when it comes to music. RM also has a new album coming out soon, called Right Place, Wrong Person. It will be released on May 24th. Not sure if he filmed any live performances for any of the songs though. We'll just have to wait and see.
Loved your reaction and voice analysis. For j-hope , I would recommend one of his live performances from Lollapalooza or the BTS Wings Tour when each of them performed a song solo and j-hope performed 'momma' (yep, a song dedicated to his mom)
Youjeen was super super nervous has she didn't want to let RM down but the mic flicking is something she has always done. Even tho she is the older more experienced artist because of BTS's fame she was a little unsure of doing the song with him but she absolutely knocked it out of the park!!!
Youjeen is the Flower Work exploding up in the sky. RM is the observer looking up and marvelling at the spectacle while reflecting on his life. Light a flower, flowerwork. I know you'd typically lean towards listening to their performances live, but them having provided so many instances in which it was clear they sound almost like their recorded versions, here I would definitely have gone for the Music Video of this song. The instrumentation can be heard so much clearer, and Youjeen's voice explodes just the right way -not too loud, not too soft-... And the lyrics, you would've been able to read the lyrics. The honesty in them and the reason for the song's title.
Love this song, he has such a poet’s soul. How he manages to inject such imagery to his lyrics is amazing. Making the song that would typically say firework and using flower work, and make it so meaningful just gets to me. With RM, you really have to sit and think about what he is saying in his lyrics, and he delivers it beautifully. Thank you for your reaction.
you should def check out the whole rolling hall performance. he performs a lot of songs from his most recent solo album with breaks and chatting with the audience between songs. its a great vibe
Otro grande. Saludos desde Cuba🇨🇺
I know you go for the live videos (I do too!), but PLEASE be sure to watch the MV with lyrics because it is poetry. And the video is gorgeous. 💜 Really speaks to his inner struggles with fame. Also, never trust the auto-generated subtitles lol.
I forgot to say Lock/Unlock for JHope's vocals. But since the album was released while he's enlisted, there's no live version or MV. Just lyric video. Its a great song, though
Would love to hear what you think of the upcoming single Come Back To Me by RM that's being released on 10th May! His 2nd solo album Right Person, Wrong Place is out on 24th May and we're all really excited for it!
Hi Sam! Another fabulous reaction by one of my favorite vocal coaches to watch. You mentioned that you think RM's voice is deep, and you're right; he's talked before about how he consciously raises his pitch in public, otherwise he won't be understood. There are some chatty lives with other members of BTS where he doesn't do this, and it is incredibly noticeable how bass his voice actually is. So he's definitely bringing that pitch up into performance range. Also - and something I noticed for the first time watching this - is he actually plays with the pitch on how he delivers some lines in the song, possibly because he's not as strongly backtracked as Youjeen is for this performance. Youjeen's mic tapping thing is, from what I understand, an old habit of hers; she tried to stop but just never could, so it's something of a signature of how she performs now. Okay so j-hope, Hoseok, my dear Hobi - a lot of people are gonna say Lollapalooza, but that's an hour set and the sound quality is very much "live show" for it. However, he did rerelease three tracks with slightly cleaned up audio from that show - = (equal sign), STOP and Future. The run of = to STOP at Lolla - video with subs here ruclips.net/video/8WHwJda3I6I/видео.html - is less than five minutes long, it's totally worth doing the two songs. Other options: No one ever does "Future," even though it has a whole video: ruclips.net/video/bi2sPepejB4/видео.html With ENG SUB, even! And it's such a good vocal and rap song! People have brought up = at IU's Palette, which is another good performance; it's also more of a duet with IU, though? His performance of "Safety Zone" on that show is _masterful_, though it's more rap and less singing; you can find it here, with English subtitles: ruclips.net/video/D_zb8VVAH1w/видео.html His pre-enlistment song "on the street" has a performance here - no subtitles, but very, very live: ruclips.net/video/D5fAuSRNtDk/видео.html Most recently, he released an album that features a track called "lock/unlock," which is essentially a full vocal song. No live performance of that, but it does have Nile Rodgers and Benny Blanco on it, so it is deliciously funky: ruclips.net/video/msxYa1xh0Ro/видео.html
Your adlib at the end was so cute! It's funny you mentioned RM's lower speaking voice. That is the voice you hear most when he's speaking in a formal setting. It's not so very low in livestreams with ARMY when he's the most comfortable and more himself vs "the leader"... It's still low and comforting just not so bassy. I guess more playful. I don't know if that is intentional that he speaks deeper during public speaking or something he does subconsciously. In this part of the concert you can tell he hasn't pushed past the nerves yet at the start but then settles in. It was quite a special night for him as it was his dream to perform in Rolling Hall which is a relatively small but historic venue. Backstage he was very nervous. Almost immediately after this, he made a completely different album called Right Place Wrong Person. You should check out some of the songs from there. Lost! Is the big track from that and is good... but I think you may want to listen to Groin (yes... it is weird to say, but I loved RM's Groin 😅)... He filmed the MV in the UK. It was simple with him walking and dancing a bit down a residential street area. But the style is a great change... also, a good one for contrast is Nuts (are you getting a pattern here?)... which he filmed live just walking & dancing a bit throughout the studio building (I think it was also in the UK... not sure). And yep, he goes a bit nuts too. He actually postponed his enlistment several months because he felt he really needed to do this album. Wildflower was on Indigo and was good but it didn’t really end up being the album he wanted to leave behind before enlisting. Originally he was going to enlist with JHope and he would be finished by this October. But instead he waited and enlisted with the 3 youngest members. So now he won't be finished serving until June 2025. But Right Place Wrong Person was that important for him.
This is such a beautiful song and I love your reaction video, I always do. For Jhope, his Lollapalooza/IU Palette EQUAL SIGN is wonderful. Piece of peace or Blue side are also great songs showcasing Hobi’s vocals 💜
This was great! RM is an amazing artist - as others have said, I would suggest the MV - it is a visual feat and the lyrics are amazing. (And thanks to your suggestion, I have started listening to Ryuichi Sakomoto. ).
Great reaction, as always! I agree with the other posters, definitely watch the MV it really helps to understand the lyrics and concept. J-Hope recommendations: MAMA live Bang Bang Con 2020 Equal Sign live Lalapalooza
Namjoon’s speaking voice is naturally very low and resonant but he does tend to pitch his voice up in interviews for clarity of enunciation, especially noticeable while speaking English.
Jhope did Lollapalooza in 2022 , i was there and it was amazing and I still get all the excitement when I see reactions. But a really good performance to analyze is Equal sign = at IU's Pallete episode.
We have similar brains. Totally understood your explanation of the soft hard inversion. :) Those lyrics are not right. lol. Youjeen is a well respected rocker in S Korea and fronts the band Cherry Filter. She does not do collabs but respected RMs musical journey and despite being nervous did the collab.
Great video although I will never unsee the taps in the mic 🤣. I love this combination between both voices and I believe Namjoon has such an special vision and connection with music that he is able to create masterpieces like this one 💜
Thanks for this analysis 🙏 This is such an amazing vocal by Youjeen - RM said if he couldn't get her to sing this part, then he would have changed the lyrcs to English
The meaning of the title in korean is a mix of fireworks and wild flowers so at the end she is the fireworks, explosive and bright, and he is the wild flower, soft
No one match his skills in Rapping, Songwriting and Composing 🔥🔥 the most talented and hardworking artist, he's the main creator of most of the band hits like BlackSwan ,Fake love , Spring Day ,Butter ,Idol.....
Youjeen was the front woman of the South Korean Rock Group 'Cherry Filter' she came out of 'retirement' because RM asked her to feature in this song. She's the Rock Chic.
Ah this was the one I was waiting for 😍 I'm RM bias and every time I see this gig (every other day 😂) it reminds me I failed to get a ticket 😂 I had my bag packed all ready to make the journey from pollokshaws to seoul 😂 so I know what you mean when you say you want to hear him in real life 😌 ps he is a daddy...er I mean he is the leader of bts 😂💜
I love this song so much. It wasn't what I expected, but I was glad to be surprised (again). For JHope my favorite from his new album is More. It's also very different for him. I love how they are always doing new things and growing their craft. 💜 Oh! He just released a collab with JK called I Wonder that is beautiful.
Please please please, for your own fun (Don't need to make a video of that if you don't want to, just enjoy it and tell us what you think in the next video) watch the MV. It has proper subtitles, and the lyrics of this song are a poem, and it's visually so stunning that it will leave you breathless! Thank you for your reaction! Borahae!💜
J-hope suggestion: -Lock/Unlock -I don't know ft Huh Yun-jin i love your analysis and reactions btw!! the music nerd in me loves every second of it!!!!
After obsessing my way through Golden and Layover, JHope’s album has had the most staying power on my Spotify playlist. (V and JK are still my fave videos) This song is magic, but it’s SO understated, I think Sam has to listen to at least two songs to give a proper reaction!!!
Most of the way they are using their voices has to do with what they are saying. And no, those lyrics are NOT right 🤣🤣🤣 Definitely like everyone has said, check out the lyrics. Incredibly moving. This song always makes me cry. The way her voice sounds like wailing. Reminds me of the wailing women in Greek tragedies. Sad but somehow hopeful. 😘💜🫰🏻🫶🏻
The mic thing is something some rock artists do it's something I've seen before and and Sound Desk people hate it when singers do that. I've done it myself. It's can be quite fun but you can't over do it it's a very fine line.
💿Did you know that RM of BTS is releasing a new album "Right Place Wrong Person" on May 24th at 1pm kst? RM of BTS will also release a pre-release single on May 10th.🎶

My vote for your J-Hope reaction absolutely MUST be his live performance of his solo song Mama. It showcases his unique style of rap AND his underrated singing voice. I think its the best song for you to really grasp what he's capable of vocally. Here's the direct link (with subtitles), you'll need to start at about 1:00 to avoid the opening sequence: ruclips.net/video/_nl1upMZA2A/видео.html

Actually even the speaking voice of RM is not his actual voice.. especially when he’s speaking in a mic. I’ve heard him say he deliberately raises his voice a bit otherwise the mic can’t pick it up well. His voice is deep deep…
This song was definitely not a love song. RM may have been using his sexy voice, but it was not meant to be sexy. This song is a very vulnerable song about his journey. That's why subtitles are needed for you to understand the meaning. And no, he didn't say anything about killing someone. I've linked you the performance with English subtitles, and a better video/sound quality than what I was hearing from your video. I don't know if it was your video, or the original video that was not as clear. whenever you are looking for a BTS video that has English subtitles, there is more than likely a version with subtitles that a BTS ARMY has added. So this one was added by Enjoy BTS More, and she does a really great job with her subtitles, and even cleans up videos for quality if needed. All you have to do is enter *"artist - song title - Eng. sub"* in RUclips search, and you should get the video you want. So I hope you at least watch this one on your own time to get the meaning of the song. RM poured his heart into it and his feelings and experience are in it. Or, you could watch the music video. But I think it's important to understand what he was saying. It's about his journey. RM - Wild Flower (w/Youjeen) live at Rolling Hall - (turn on Cc's) - ruclips.net/video/ux5WWmh9Kvc/видео.html
Well, no subs for RM (even before or after) rules me out. Bummer. But if you do the MV with subs I'll check it out. This performance was awesome and I am sure you broke down his and Yugeen's vocals well. Not your fault I guess, I just don't enjoy a reaction without someone checking out the lyrics he put the effort into writing. This one in particular, but all BTS songs and solo work. (V and JK only exceptions since they didn't write their new solo album songs, but they have written beautiful songs in the past.)

J-Hope recommendations:
MAMA live Bang Bang Con 2020
Equal Sign live Lalapalooza
Namjoon’s speaking voice is naturally very low and resonant but he does tend to pitch his voice up in interviews for clarity of enunciation, especially noticeable while speaking English.
Jhope did Lollapalooza in 2022 , i was there and it was amazing and I still get all the excitement when I see reactions.
But a really good performance to analyze is Equal sign = at IU's Pallete episode.
MAMA 2022 would also be my pick for j-hope. His performance of either Arson or More (or both) are brilliant. Hobi, the ultimate performer.
Love the song and your reactions
We have similar brains. Totally understood your explanation of the soft hard inversion. :) Those lyrics are not right. lol.
Youjeen is a well respected rocker in S Korea and fronts the band Cherry Filter. She does not do collabs but respected RMs musical journey and despite being nervous did the collab.
Great video although I will never unsee the taps in the mic 🤣. I love this combination between both voices and I believe Namjoon has such an special vision and connection with music that he is able to create masterpieces like this one 💜
Great react thanks for video ❤
I do love this song (Namjoon stan here! Lol) but there are others on that album that I love even more. Give the whole thing a listen.
RM had to work hard to convince her to sing this with him she was like, I can't do this delicately. He knew what he wanted and got it
No one match his skills in Rapping, Songwriting and Composing 🔥🔥 the most talented and hardworking artist, he's the main creator of most of the band hits like BlackSwan ,Fake love , Spring Day ,Butter ,Idol.....
Hello. RM Announced his New album "Right Place Wrong Person" which will be releasing on May 24th . Please check it out once it releases💜
Jhope Piece of Peace or Blue Side for vocals.
Can't wait for RM's new album!! 💜💜
For hobi lolapalooza is the best option!
Youjeen was the front woman of the South Korean Rock Group 'Cherry Filter' she came out of 'retirement' because RM asked her to feature in this song. She's the Rock Chic.
no cellphones....there is an MV it is beautiful
If you want to hear more of his singing voice you could check out Forg_tful or Lonely
It would be really cool to see you react to RM's NPR Tiny Desk Concert
Yeah I'd recommend you watch the MV first then a live performance
I love this song so much. It wasn't what I expected, but I was glad to be surprised (again).
For JHope my favorite from his new album is More. It's also very different for him. I love how they are always doing new things and growing their craft. 💜
Oh! He just released a collab with JK called I Wonder that is beautiful.
J-Hope: „More“ at the 2022 MAMA Awards. Or Lollapalooza 💜
Borahae!💜
Sorry unrelated to the video, but,
Such a cuteee mug!!
React to RM Tiny Desk Performances
J-hope suggestion:
-Lock/Unlock
-I don't know ft Huh Yun-jin
i love your analysis and reactions btw!! the music nerd in me loves every second of it!!!!
RM tiny desk, hope you will react and share knowledge from that
His new album is coming next month! On the 10th the pre release will be available! Please check it out!!!
UNCLE SAMM!!
Hey J! How are you??
would love for you to react to j-hope’s Equal sign live with IU or I Wonder feat JK 🥰
My recommendation for the next j-hope song is "on the street feat. J.Cole" :)
After obsessing my way through Golden and Layover, JHope’s album has had the most staying power on my Spotify playlist. (V and JK are still my fave videos) This song is magic, but it’s SO understated, I think Sam has to listen to at least two songs to give a proper reaction!!!
I feel that On the Street doesn't really showcase Hobi's vocals, though. I'd prefer Blue Side or Lock/Unlock for his vocals
💜
Please react to killing voice blob!!
Amazing vocals!!!!
RIGHT PLACE WRONG PERSON BY RM IS COMING GUYS
Most of the way they are using their voices has to do with what they are saying. And no, those lyrics are NOT right 🤣🤣🤣 Definitely like everyone has said, check out the lyrics. Incredibly moving.
This song always makes me cry. The way her voice sounds like wailing. Reminds me of the wailing women in Greek tragedies. Sad but somehow hopeful.
😘💜🫰🏻🫶🏻
Can you please react to RM's new single"come back to me " out coming Friday May 10th.
The mic thing is something some rock artists do it's something I've seen before and and Sound Desk people hate it when singers do that. I've done it myself. It's can be quite fun but you can't over do it it's a very fine line.
Youjeen hadn't sang live in a while and was very nervous. AT least, that's what she said in an interview I saw
Can you please react to RM's new album "Right Place, Wrong Person" out on Friday May 24th. member of BTS.
💿Did you know that RM of BTS is releasing a new album "Right Place Wrong Person" on May 24th at 1pm kst?
RM of BTS will also release a pre-release single on May 10th.🎶
Please watch the original MV
Yes there is doubling on the recorded version as well, but not that little adlib she put in you mentioned earlier that isn't on the recorded track.
Captions: never use auto-generated English. It’s always wrong 😂
I just found your channel and I’m loving it! I came for BTS but I hope you’ll continue Hamilton. 😬💜
Youjeen's voice reminds a lot of Dolores O'Riordan from The Cranberries, the way she moves between notes.
J Hope's Equal Sign Lollapalooza please !!!
11:27 “short, sharp breaths that he was taking …”. Didn’t know you were a Gilbert and Sullivan fan, Sam. “A short, sharp shock/ from a cheap and chippy chopper on a big black block …”. The Mikado
JHope Daydream or More.
Hello Sam, will you react to this year's Eurovision Songs?
If I get some time for them absolutely! I will only do a few though as my Eurovision reactions tend to get blocked and it drives me crazy 😅
@@SSTVocalCoach I understand. I enjoyed your review of Lord Of the Lost. I don't dare to hope for our entry of this year. What do you think of Britains entry?
@@noname-xw4ukOlly? I think it’s quite Eurovisiony, so that’s a plus! Reminds me of Deeper shade of Blue by steps!
@@SSTVocalCoach oh gosh! Now I want to suggest some! Ireland, Ukraine, SWITZERLAND, Croatia, Australia! I had come here to ask about your doing ESC videos because I saw this yesterday and thought you'd make a second channel just for Eurovision!!!! LOL! ruclips.net/video/NrdKAudG7W8/видео.htmlsi=iArYklLXv8z_mE6s
Actually even the speaking voice of RM is not his actual voice.. especially when he’s speaking in a mic. I’ve heard him say he deliberately raises his voice a bit otherwise the mic can’t pick it up well.
His voice is deep deep…
Please watch the music video.. 😊
Correct me if I'm wrong but the real Rm's talking voice is very very low and he uses a high pitch to talk at concerts, interviews and shows
