What you were hearing is a J-Hope backing track. Not hype men doing adlibs. J-Hope is the master of adlibs. You should check out the music video with the lyrics. He's talking about his journey with BTS and ARMY "Should I put out the fire, or burn even brighter" I think you will appreciate it even more if you understood the lyrics.
I was there! It was so amazing! I'm sure he was worried at first, but seeing all of the ARMY bombs let him know his people were there. He did so amazingly. Iconic.💜
@@donnasoria90 He was the first member to do a big music event alone, and in the US, of course he was a little worried/nervous. I sure felt like I was dreaming being there, such an amazing show! 🥰
Actually it was the look on Hobis face when the entire crowd in unison chanted out YOUNG AND FREE that they knew his lyrics, that they were there for him. That look is so precious.
Lollapalooza is an annual 4 day Chicago event with bands playing on different stages throughout the day. J-Hope's concert was the first solo by any BTS member and was shortly after their "hiatus" was announced. He was the first Korean to headline (he headlined the last day) and the tickets for a day at the festival never sold out so quickly. 100,000 people! Apparently mostly ARMY! As Suga later said to him (on Suchwita), when the set started, folks who had been there all day (>12 hours) watching all these other bands, all suddenly pulled out ARMY bombs and lit up the lakeside park. I wish I had been there for "Hobipalooza"! Thanks for your reaction. You may want to watch more of the concert with English subs. Or watch the MV for Arson-- will show what an amazing introspective/reflective piece it is.
Just one clarification from someone who was there. There were definitely a lot of ARMY there, but there were also a TON of general public there, especially as the concert continued, because people came out of curiosity from the other stage due to the crowd engagement and the ARMY bombs. In the video, you see the ARMY bombs in the front half, but the crowd went back much further where you see dark, because there were few to no ARMY bombs back there. There were stories of GP asking ARMY for their ARMY bombs to hold, because they thought it was so cool. We were maybe 1/4 back from the stage, and we had a fair amount of GP around us even.
@@OT7_DopeOldARMY Thanks so much for clarifying, I hadn't heard that; and isn't it cool that other people were drawn in by the enthusiasm?! I think that's the largest crowd anyone in BTS has ever performed for? Even Wembley is said to seat 90,000. And to do that by himself, and the first one of the seven! He is brave. And of course our kind-hearted Park Jimin came to support his hyung. I'm saving up so I never miss something like this again!💜
I'm glad you got to see this performance. Honestly, as a vocal reaction, I probably wouldn't have recommended it because it is very intentionally monotone--in the MV and lyrics it becomes clear that the intention is for the rap and music to feel like the thrum of a heart (a heart beat). And it has a lot of intensity and desperation in the characterization so the vocal delivery is pretty consistent throughout. If you remember j-hope's Mama, you said you could stop the reaction every 5 seconds because he kept doing new interesting things and you commented on how large his toolbox is here and Arson isn't a song that attempts to show off any of that. It's really meant to convey his ambition and anticipation at this crossroad of choosing whether to blow out the flame or light the world on fire. Equal Sign might have been a better choice as he actually sings about half the song in his chest voice and falsetto. Or his new album has some vocal pieces, too, like Lock/Unlock. Or even Daydream from his older mixtape Hope World or Just Dance (his solo from BTS' Love Yourself Era), have a lot of rap and vocal choices to explore. So maybe for a future reaction, try one of those. Also, I would love a reaction to j-hope at Lollapalooza. He put on such an incredible show. I can't oversell it, it was the best. I was there in person and it was one of the best experiences in my life. He's such a showman and a total rockstar.
j-Hope really underestimates how much we love him and just how good he is. The crowd at Hobipalooza holding their ARMY Bombs and chanting his name was a shock to him but one we all knew he deserved. His is an interesting voice both when he sings and when he raps. His singing voice blends really well with JK's when they harmonise.
Not gonna lie, it's been so long I almost thought you forgot about Hobi 😂 Thanks for completing the series! j-hope's Lollapalooza performance was legendary, rapping, singing, dancing for over 80 minutes. He showed just what a powerhouse of a live performer he is. If you watch and react to his Lolla show from start to finish, I promise you won't regret a single second of it!
Hobi killed at Lolla!! The ARMY that were there supporting him were amazing, too! I was only able to watch at home on my couch, but somehow, the energy between j-hope and ARMY was still electric. The entire performance here was really incredible. If you are able to, I do recommend watching the whole thing. This was our first glimpse into 'Chapter 2', and it really set the stage!
This is the first song of the first solo concert in Lollapalooza as a headliner, so he has a lot of charged energy and goes at it hard because he is excited... but he can see Jimin upstairs encouraging him. The rest of the team was watching live back home. It was a win for the whole team as the first solo album out of the seven and then headlining in Chicago. He also met his idol J Cole and that was a dream come true exciting. (J Cole was a guest on his last song for ARMY before going into the military - Hepe on the Streets - where Jhope wrote the song and let J Cole shine.)
This was an ASTOUNDING performance by j-hope. I was there, and it was one of the best concerts of my life - and I’ve seen MJ, his sister, Elton John/Billy Joel, and many other US rock band greats. He was really incredible. I highly recommend watching the whole thing - it’s available on the BANGTANTV channel, in full. He performed for about 1h15 or so.
@@Yoonji9212 Both were terrific. I was in Paris for work, and MJ just happened to be performing, so we bought tickets last minute and went. I am glad we gave into the impulse and went. I’m glad that I “braved” Lolla for the first time at the ripe old age of 56 at the time as well, to see hobi. 🙂

You should definitely watch the official MV as well. Not to react, just watch it so you see the lyrics and also get a sense of how insanely hard he went here!
They are say Jhope! He had to maintain himself so he is letting the track do some singing for him. He has about 90 minutes to go. (he is always talking to BTS members when they do a show after not for so long because they have to do an entire night) Jhop was the main show here, and it was his first time doing something like this alone. Jimin flew in the night before to support him and is watching him from above along the rail. You should watch the mv of ARSON - it was done in one take because of all the fire. RM and Jhope like, and have a lot of KAWS art figures - RM has a whole room full and a large standing KAWS figure - in his office. On Jhope's album, he shows a lot of artistic forms of KAWS, and this is why he is wearing the gloves too, even in the second set when he comes out in white he has the Kaws gloves on too.
I agree you should watch the whole concert - amazing. And it was his first solo performance! 100,000 people! He was so nervous in the days before he was having trouble eating and sleeping. So proud of him!!!! 💜 I like that you mentioned his movement on stage. IMO this is one of the things that sets him apart - he's a masterful dancer as well as a rapper.
This concert was such a great showing for J-hope. To answer your question, yes, he definitely just swore at the audience lol. Arson is lyrically so brilliant, but it probably isn't the best for a vocal analysis, just because the composition of the song is very purposefully gritty. He has such an amazing singing voice. You picked up on it in the pre-recorded intro to the song, but his vocal texture is truly lovely. For a look at him in a much calmer frame, I really recommend any of his performances of the song "Equal Sign." ruclips.net/video/sKdFIONb0_g/видео.htmlsi=uL74xNEspvr2ihSi I really love your BTS analysis videos! 💜
