Record your thoughts, doodles and drawings by the seashore in this charming, chunky, little handmade journal. That's what I was thinking as this journal evolved in the process of making it. Once I started with the blue fabric I decided to make it unified with an all blue theme for a by-the-seashore feel.
I made this fun writing journal with an ocean, beachy theme - made with blue striped upholstery fabric, hand dyed, blue papers throughout, seashell stamping and collage, some cute fish stickers, and real seashells as an embellishment on the spine.
    3 hand sewn-in signatures with over 108 3-1/2" X 5-1/2" pages, plus lots more journaling spots. Outside size is 6" X 4" X 2" spine.
I am a classically trained artist of drawing and painting and think of journal making the same as any other composition - I look to create harmony, unity, cohesiveness. When I make a journal I am making an art piece and all the elements need to work together so that I usually choose to not make parts and pieces for journals ahead of time, I make custom pieces for individual journals appropriate for those individual journals.
    I hope you are inspired
    Thanks for watching

Thank you again so much for sharing your thoughts on the process. I like this very much, too. Without knowing what the artist was thinking, it's still art. But having an idea of their thoughts on the process the art gets kind of it's own soul. Well, more of a shared soul, I think🥰

Thank you so much! I was a bit concerned that this video was boring but I published it anyway, so thank you for your comment.

This is 🥰😍😘 and I say that as a non-blue girlie. It was fascinating hearing your thought processes behind creating it, and I def got some inspo from a few pieces that I will put into my 'ideas' file. TFS 😊

I appreciate you sharing your comment. I want to be informative but not overdo it, if you know what I mean. As a long-time art teacher I always wanted to make clear why I was doing certain things and why I would suggest certain things to students. I am glad you got some ideas. And the whole thing could have been any theme color, and I plan to run with all the colors over time, no blue necessary (ha, ha). Cheers and happy crafting!
