Nice one, thanks for this man!! love your work bro , big up from Ireland
I bought the Synscan usb dongle but it doesn't work. I think my laptop is the issue.
First step, go to synscan app, press settings, connect settings, choose serial and choose the COM port, if you leave it at wireless it will never commect to the USB cable
Straight from Skywatcher Tech Support. Do not use the DONGLE, it serves no purpose. The 150P Virtuoso has built in WiFi. How do I check my mounts firmware version?
That is the wifi dongle youre talking about, mine is differemt it is usb
To check mount version go on synscan and press utility and informatiom
Hello, do you use batteries(rechargeable or normal) or an external power supply?
@@SilviuGeorgescu-uh8fz external power supply
Do you recommend one in particular?
@@SilviuGeorgescu-uh8fz regular 12v dc adapter willl work
@@universewonders1thank you very much!
Watching this imcase im gonna buy this lol
Where do you find the update for the mount?
skywatcher.com/download/software/motor-control-firmware/
Download this one:
Firmware: Universal DC Motor Driver with Built-in Wi-Fi, Version 3.40
@@universewonders1 thanks!
@@Cosmo_Watcher to update the mount download the firmware loader from the same website, i am going to warn you, DO NOT update the mount on wifi as i said in the video
Extremely helpful, thank you.
Haha glad to see how you solved that drifting issue! I bought a ASIAIR plus with a guiding cam& scope and still can’t solve it. Maybe time to use a cable instead of wifi ❤
Hopefully it works out for others aswell, update the mount aswell as i said i dont know if its the cable or the update that got it working better, but cable connections are definitely superior to wifi
Tbh I nearly give up the mount and planning to buy a new mount but your video gives me new hope. Thanks anyway!
@@xinranma7270 same here i was gonna sell it because it was bugging mr alot, i used it on 3 night now didnt drift
I have the same awful drift with stars constantly drifting even trailing over 1-2 second exposure. I also WiFi updated to firmware 3.4 but still had drift while using WiFi mobile app. Just ordered the cable adapter. Using WiFi I also can't connect the mount to ascom. Have you tried this
I think it is the cable that fixed the issue then, so far mount connected fine with cable to sharpcap
@@universewonders1 did you have any trouble connecting the mount to ascom hub via WiFi
I dont know sory, i use synscan app driver for sharpcap to connect with my mount, however by wifi i had problems connecting to it, with cable i still need to try
Can you tell me how you set up to control your mount from sharpcap? I am still struggling. My understanding is that this would still need ascom. I've tried WiFi and cable on windows 10 and 11
@@markbond18 i set sharpcap to control by the synscan app driver in the hardware section from the settings but i tried last night im having problems doing so, it is disconnecting for no reason and i am using the cable connection

Interesting. I had a 150mm Sky-Watcher Virtuoso and had no problem tracking, but I sold it. I also had a Sky-Watcher AZ GTi, which I have kept for grab and go and a Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer GTi which I use regularly. All track just fine.
Interesting indeed, there are loads of people that reported drifting issue of the virtuoso mount, usually a realignment fixes it and tracks well again but this usb adapter is a permanent fix for it
