I am using SW130PDS for more than 2 years now. It is small tube easy to carry. I use long dovetail bar for spreading the center of gravity evenly for better balancing along the DEC axis. Also attach Finder/guider scope on backside tubering so camera weight on front side gets balanced evenly.
Hello there! So after one year of usage, did you managed to balance it well and how? I have a CEM25P and a Heritage 130P ; very hard to balance. I am hesitating to move torward nor a 130PDS like yours or a 80ED and the balancing part is one of my consideration.
Hi! Heritage 130P should be harder to balance because you don't have a lot of room to move the scope along it's body. Anyway, I don't recommend any newtonian with CEM mounts, better go with 80ED
@@astroswell thanks ! Too late I did bought the 130PDS :) So far I've ecperienced that its too heavy on the focuser side. Will see with a guidescope on the top how it's behaving. Can you achieve perfect balance on your side and if so would love to see how :)
I'm Antonio from Italy, i have the telescope "Skywatcher heritage" 130/650 from AMAZON for only 188 euro (price). Low cost but high quality the mirror is parabolic, the Moon,Jupiter and saturn fantastic visions, i use one ejepiecs "Super 3,6mm" to 180X sharp images similar one rifractor acromatic long focal.
Nice upgrade, it was a good decision to buy a reflector and you're gonna have awesome results at a very low price compared to a refractor of the same characteristics. Two tips are that you won't need a dew heater on a reflector because these don't generate dew, and also put the camera on the opposite side (facing down) so it's closer to the center of mass and you can do a better balance.
Thanks! Great news about a dew :) yeah I know about the camera position, I should have thought about it before buying this mount, those CEMs are not suitable for such placing, too long front part, there was a classic GEM 28 mount, but I think it was out of stock already, so now I have no option but to use second counterweight to balance this thing 🤷♂️
Where did you read that about reflectors and dew? I get it on my secondary, pretty sure there are dew heaters built specifically for secondary mirrors too. Nice tip about the camera position.

Hi! Completely agree, such a power in such a compact and relatively cheap tube!
