Straife what is your favorite build?
@@ArcaneAgent Been trying to figure out a 5e DnD type Shadow Monk build, teleporting around picking off the back lines.
With dimension door?
@@ArcaneAgent Probably, trying was looking at using Travel Domain and some Rogue for more Ninja feel and extra jumps.

Think the reason some don't put as much into dex is usually if you don't plan to use ranged based touch attack, the only benifits you get out it is reflex saves and little extra in armor earlier on. Because at 13th level you will eventually wear full plate armor, which will limit the AC side bonuses to 1 from dex. Then you can also argue if only reason you take dex is for more armor in earlier leveling, it might be better to just put on dex belt, then replace it with physical might later once you get access to higher range armors. That way you would get the invested dex points back into strength where it would be more useful, ofcause assuming you don't use range touch based spells(at which case the dex might be useful for extra to hit but then you would probably need Point blank shot and precise shot for range attack so 2 extra feats too).
This is awesome, thank you so much! And yes, you blew my mind with the spell picks. Did NOT know you could do that. ALso never thought about reach as a advantage when smashing. I learned alot today.
Glad to have helped
A little late to the party, but better late than never. Going to use this build on the console version. Looking forward to using it to get an idea of what I should be looking out for and get an overall feel for the game.
1 level of Thug and the Combat Reflexes feat would make this build shine. Thug gives fear on demoralize attempts and Combat Reflexes allows for more attacks of opportunity, which will occur when your enemies get feared and start to run away. This build would allow for 4 such attacks with 16 dexterity.
Awesome build man. I took your idea, made sacred huntsmaster/vivisectionist to get the nasty early game buffs and proc those teamwork feats. Enlarge person + a big ol glaive + improved cleave is downright disgusting. Roided myself to the gills and ran up to stag lord entrance, first attack carved through EVERYONE like butter, including the stag lord all the way up on his balcony thing. Biggest fistpump moment Ive had in this game yet.
That's what I am talking about
level 1 monk, level X knife rogue, lawful good (for the dodge robe later), use sai get the mid/late game sai that gives 2 extra attacks, duel wield tree, flurry of blows, wisdom to armor. Have the arcane caster put improved invis on you, become the blender of death. at end game count your attacks 3 (base) +1 (flurry) +2 (duel wield) +2 (sai) = 8 attacks all doing +d8's sneak damage. let's say you are level 16 with a 26 dex (+8 modifier) and your main sai plus the other are both +2 and all attacks hit. That is 8d4+80+64d8 dmg average of 260 damage. Its brutal and has high enough AC that you can be in the front line.
another is front line fighter rogue. Level 4 fighter level X rogue. Use good medium armor, get the arcane protector dagger and the +5 bashing light shield, dual wield for excessive AC (only beat by monk and tower shield fighter AC), that does very high damage. Not the best damage not the best AC, but is the 2nd best at both. Weakness is anything that forces will saving throws though, so you may want to use items that offer immunity to conditions that require them (ring of law etc).
Thanks for making these. I finally understand how Magus' work. Great guide!
Thanks man!
My first ever magus build was wielding a whip to deliver touch attacks at 15 ft. It takes a lot of feats to do but it is fun!
Are whips reach?
In pathfinder tabletop yes they have a 15 ft reach all sorts of limitations without the proper feats but great for delivering touch spells as a magus or true strike tripping from a distance
Thank you for including a text build here. I'm old, I need something I can read as I play.
Very nice alternate build for the Magus! I don't know if it was mentioned but you could also go abyssal bloodline and get the bloodline bonuses to strength. They come a few levels later but you don't have to multiclass.
You can no longer go abyssal to get dragon disciple
@@ArcaneAgent True, but you can get boosts to strength from the abyssal bloodline at 9 and 13 with out going dragon disciple
Does it give you natural armor bonus?
@@ArcaneAgent It does not, but you do get access to other bonus spells that could make it interesting
Very unique magus build. Plus thx for showing me that i could have gotten lower level spells because when i made mine it was always 6th level spells only. Now i have to go back and see about fixes to my spell list. On another note, i tried to make your high saves sorc, witch is nice, but i didnt like it all that much. I did make a high saves cleric thought that could work well.
Glad i opened yer mind

1 idea that may be a complete waste, A build around a Halfling Ranger/Alchemist using a Sling Staff. And what are your thought on the upcoming DLC with the Tiefling Racial and the Kineticist Class ?
Im excited for new updates always, I want more races as it is. But I also want the previous races flushed out more
Might be do to updates and things but you absolutely can put touch attacks on two handed weapons, and on reach weapons. You cannot use the level one ability to cast and then attack, since you need a free hand for that. But at level two you are casting touch attacks through your weapon. The drwback of that method is that you are casting it against AC and not against touch AC. And using a two handed weapon has the drawback of only attacking once, instead of attacking twice, once with the spell and once normally.
Another thing: i dont think enlarge person and reach weapons have a compounding effect. I seem to have the same attack distace while being enlarged to not bein enlarged with a reach weapon. Which incidentally is the same as being enlarged with any other weapon. So i think picking enlarge is a substitute for a reach weapon no matter how much i like polearms.
I'm playing the game for a while and reach + enlarge definitely increases the range unless something has changed in recent updates. Being able to do a touch spell attack with a 2hander as a magus was possible even years ago, but it costs more time to deliver the attack, since Spellstrike only works with 1 hand free.
I want a glass cannon monk who hits like the meteorite that extinct the dinosaurs
But why glass cannon?
Liquid Plays I like a challenge and just a bit of role play I guess but if it can tank I'm all in
I too like a good challenge
Two small suggestions.
First if you taking demoralizing things wold be awesome take one lvl thug because his ability is fearing everyone instead demoralizing.
Second you will not reach lvl 20 with 6ppl party so better take red dragon disciple after 9 lvl magus. You not really need heavy armor casting at early game because you can find med armor with no skill penalty and 8 plus 5 Ac which give you same as mitral full plate. So make 14 dex and with plus 6 belt you will be happy. You also not need con coz you stay behind shield guys so not get hitted too much and feel free to dump your wis.
Ive been using a lot of reach weapons for my builds lately
@@ArcaneAgent reach wep awesome... Coz shielders does not make sense if dd not behind them. So if you are melee dd reach weapon always better
Love all the builds, keep up the great work 😃
I shall
This one deserves to live in the Warhammer 40k universe... damn!
Its a beast
Agreed it look likes it just came out of the warp itself :O
Very cool. Can you try a Archaeologist bard->Arcane Trickster? I think 1 lv of rogue for sneak is needed, and I recommend you also take 4 levels of Dragon Disciple for the +4 str since you get STR to dmg with the composite longbow. Then you buff yourself and your allies with bard spells and go to town with a bow. I recommend Archaeologist bard since most of the bard buffs are morale bonuses, which is the same as inspire courage, so they don't stack, but if you self buff with archaeologist bard's buff it is a luck bonus which stacks with everything but other luck bonuses. I recommend all the bow feats (point blank shot, precise shot, deadly aim, weapon focus, rapid shot, manyshot, hammer the gap, arcane strike). You only need 16 charisma by level 20 if you only pick buff spells (not ones that target enemies like sleep). So I recommend starting with 14 CHA, and putting 2 level ups into it. Then start with 17 Dex +2 racial, and put +3 more from level ups, and atleast 14 STR (you get +4 from Dragon Disiple), but if you can 16 STR is better. I recommend human just because you want so many feats for bows, and you don't get any extra from your class.
I forgot you need to take the improved sneak feat too with only 1 level of rogue, which is why I really recommend human, you need soo many feats.
is cool...I did my magus with abyssal heritage it works really good my magus used greataxe never the less nice build
I wonder how a combination of Spellcombat with True Strike with Vital Strike would work.
In wrath of the righteous, rowdy rogues apply their sneak attack bit time to vital strike...
My problem is you try out these builds but watch your character get floored every fight lol
It's all fun though
I like the reach magus build but I would go with a glaive rather than the bardiche due to magic weapon availablility in the game. (Fauchard would be best but it eats a feat and the best one I know of is crafted and therefore hard to ensure you would get)
I'm not a huge fan of building characters around magical weapons that are random. But if you know that there are some guaranteed amazing weapons then I am a fan of building a character around them.
Such as building a character around longswords from Baldur's Gate 2
@@ArcaneAgent Then glaives are your weapon of choice for reach. You can get a +1 one by then end of chapter 1, a +2 flaming during season of the bloom and nearer the end game a +5 one with many amazing abilities.
Considering the magus enhancement of weapons stacks with the current abilities this would let you add 4 levels of effects to already strong weapons.
Darn tootin
I remade my character from d&d who's a spellsinger. Since the Magus(Sword Scion) is the closes thing to a Spellsinger I've been loving it. Like your builds and videos, can't wait for more builds.
Ah, the beard is back! Awesum :D
For this week...
Would it be possible to adapt this build to a Human, or would that bork the whole thing?
I could be wrong, but will a two-handed weapon not disrupt the spell combat power of a Magus. That clearly states that you need to have one hand free. So no Spell combat and then also no Spell strike. Or am i not seeing something ?
Yeah youre right, spell combat is meh in my opinion. Very much a gimic
Don't get how arcane spell failure isn't a thing with the medium or heavy armour
Hi. Love using your builds. Thank you for videos? Using the Bardiche. Are there any magical bardiche before last chapter? Thanks
Uh beats me. I mean craft weapon is a fun mod
Sweet portrait
Its from Magic the gatherin
Wooo new build!
I know finally
Cool build, I always try to get reach weapons into my builds rather than more damaging 2H weapons. By the way the weapon is more a glaive on the portrait, a bardich e would have some kind of axe-like blade.
Can I use another weapon with this build? Two-handed sword maybe?
Yes definitely. But it won't have the reach
Ooh, this looks promising. What if I wanted to use this build, but with a greatsword instead?
It wouldnt be a reach build. But yeah
Fair enough. I’m just trying to make a “dragon knight” type character, and this is the closest base I’ve seen to make it.
hi i prefere fauchard : D10 /18-20 x2 for crit to have 15-20 x2 crit with feat and 6 feet radius like bardiche but more critique range
Yeah, youd have to burn a feat for, exotic weapons
@@ArcaneAgent sure
I'm using the eldritch arcana mod, is there any Feats you would recommend?
The eldritch arcana mod gives some good background feats
@@ArcaneAgent would you still recommend this build over newer ones?
Also thx for the reply!!
I still love this build. Reach builds with sneak attack are hillarious
Thanks Handsome. Magus is my favorite class. Keep them coming.
I don't really like the idea of a 2H magus because you are throwing out a main core of the magus class in spellstrike, which you need to keep a free hand. It's much easier to just go str or dex build with scimtar/falcata swordsaint/eldritch scion and you can be critting for well over 200
You mean you throwing Spell Combo, Spellstrike work with 2H weapons.
I couldn't get my scion to be any good. I had only one spell slot to memorize so could only use my shocking touch + attack combo once per fight which defeats the purpose
What did you do lol
Awesome! Instantly interesting!
how do you make dazzling display go off when you kill an enemy?
Very carefully
You get the feat, dreadful carnage
@@ArcaneAgent aaaaah, thx alot :)
That's what I'm here for!
What do you mean you can't use touch spells with a two hander? Spellstrike works with 2h weapons just fine. Spell combat requires one hander but it has nothing to do with how spellstrike functions. That's how it works in the TTRPG and just by reading the ability text it seems to be the same here. Is the game just bugged or did you confuse the two abilities?
I be confusededed
Love this build,ty
Its fun
That's the same portrait I use for my dragon magus.
I thought you could still use magus ability to use touch spells through a weapon with 2 handers using spellstrike, you just can't do the attack and spell combo of spell combat.
Hrmmm. I'll have to try that
@@ArcaneAgent I could be wrong,.still so many things about this game that I'm finding out when it comes to character builds.
where did you get that portrait?

@@ArcaneAgent thanks!
Im looking at this build and the only issue I have is the lack of Spellcombat capability with you using a 2h Weapon, is it possible to switch out the Bardiche with a 1H weapon and achieve the same result in combat?
You could, but then it wouldn't get the increased damage from 2 handed strength. As well as the reach ability
@@ArcaneAgent Im rereading the description of Spellcombat and im kinda kicking myself for thinking that you are REQUIRED to have a free hand to cast spells in combat. It says full attack, so you can cast in combat even with a 2hander right? Just not as a full attack? Also may I say I am extremely grateful for your quick responses to my comments. Your content already got me as a subscriber and when I get WoTR I will be making judicious use of those videos as well.
Can anyone help me on this build? My char reached lvl 5 magus and I still can't find cleave skill
You need power attack as well
@@ArcaneAgent Thank for the quick reply! I was able to respec my char and get cleave
Why would you use level 15 character in level 3 area? Of course, it would make your character look powerful.
Hmm - it is a nice build and it is quite strong solo - but you did not really convince me why I should do this with the magus and not use a barbarian or fighter, getting the buff spells from another caster.
Noob question: How are you able to give yourself the experience needed to level your chars up like this?
Check my videos, i made a video about it. Character experience editor

If you know how to beat most people in dota 1 with whatever hero, micro skills & level up skill choices mainly & share how here, would be interesting.
Lol I don't play dota
Sadly the mechanics for reach weapons are not implemented into the game. My first "playthrough" was an Eldritch Archer, was fun until chapter 3, then he felt useless. So i started all over with 2handed fighter on longspear. First of all Longspear has a reach of 5ft which is the regular melee range in the p&p. Normal melee weapons have a range of 3ft. wtf owlcat? Probably because they didnt want to have that following mechanic works -> when people with melee weapons walk to you to attack you you do an attack of opportunity. Also there's no way to do a trip on attack of opportunity. which are pretty much the reason why you pick reach weapons.
I would actually love to see a list of pathfinder mechanics they didnt implement properly so you don't start to build stuff with a specific intention that doesnt work in the end.
It's kind of the reason why I build these characters according to the game engines take on Pathfinder versus the actual Pathfinder rules.
Hi! Good stuff, is this still a viable build for the current version? Anything nerfed? Thanks!
If anything this build is even better today with patches and eldritch arcana mod
@@ArcaneAgent Ah awesome, thanks! Preparing to start my very first game :) Haven't looked into mods yet! Any you highly recommend? Thanks for the fast reply!
@@JeremyPass bag of tricks. Respecc mod. Turn based. Eldritch arcana
@@JeremyPass if you go 1 point into the rouge subclass of thug you can also get the free feat that lets you use dexterity Instead of strength for rapiers, daggers, sai's etc... this will let you put points From strength into other stats.
There is also a feat later that lets you have critical attacks have a chance to cause aoe fear based on persuasion which thug boosts.
Can you try to make a double-bladed weapon build?
Which one
@@ArcaneAgent I don't have an exact Idea for the class, but I would like to see a build with a double bladed sword one day. I don't know how to do stats for that kind of style or anything.
I get ya. Since its a 2 handed weapon, STR would be your main focus for sure. I've got some other builds in the works right now, so I'll be turning them out soon
What makes this better than 15 lvls of Magus Sword Saint and 5 lvls of Two'Handed Fighter? Surrending experience into Dragon Disciple is kind of inefficient, think do I; Because Magus's Bloodline feats appear the same level of power as Dragon Disciple, feel do I. Two'Handed Fighter to gain its unique Two'Handed feats, and by fifteen a Magus is already spending a lot of time as a Dragon, think do I.
This Magus path also is easy to redesign into Duel Wielding some light weapons. Either spend some experience into Rogue, or Duelist with their unique weapons. Generally limiting a Protagonist career build to one weapon seems like a bad idea, seems to the distortions of mine.
The two dragon wings are nice but OwlCat has some work to do, if you shapeshift into a dragon, the humanoid wings do not temporarily disappear, as the should think do I.
were did you get the new pics of the players
Great build as always. Quick dumb question: since you use reach weapon, does that mean the spell combat work if you take eldricht archer (does it require a bow or just to be in a "at reach" position?). For a paladin build I took the same build as your druid Monk duelist but with 14 paladin 1 scaled fist and 5 duelist. It work like a charm. But I suppose the build
14 x/1monk/5duelist can work with pretty much any classes.
Eldritch archer requires some ranged weapon
@@ArcaneAgent shoot could have been perfect but guess it could have been broken. Then another dumb question: if you use the improve range metamagic on a touch spell, does it work with spell combat and a reach weapon? On another note Fauchard is also a good reach weapon.
Fauchard is exotic though, yes using reach on a melee touch spell makes it a ranged touch
How come you don’t use dragon form with this build

@@ArcaneAgent Hahaha, just trying to help if you or anyone is interested :) And yup, your videos show up when searching for "Pathfinder Kingmaker Guide." So, they'll be found for years to come! Assuming you keep the beard, at least. But yeah, 9 months is still recent 😝 Thanks for the great vids!
1 lvl dip into scaled fist?
I mean sure
@@ArcaneAgent I've seen another build that goes 5 eldritch scion, 4 DD, 1 Monk and the rest eldritch knight, what benefits does eldritch knight gives? compared to full scion? do you know?
At 10th level eldritch knight, whenever you crit, you can instantly cast a quicken spell.
I use that ability to quicken a mirror image
@@ArcaneAgent Oh right cool doesn't seem like much of a benefit or does crit happen quite often at that lvl? but like how many times do you want to quicken a buff if you already have it on xD
Paladin would have been more effective I think with this build.
Paladin doesn't get the stackable strength that the classes in this build have. Yes 2 levels of Paladin would give you amazing saves
@@ArcaneAgent wouldn't higher bab bonus compensate for it?
Sure. But high bab is easy to get with plus str gear and plus 5 weapons
Thanks for the replies, subbing to your channel now. Someone keeping eye on questions and answering them, that's great.
Just wait for mondays build, you'll unsub hehe
hey liquid!
i woud love to see a "lawful evil" build - something like an anti-paladin (4 some reason Owlcatgames dont give it to us
I don't understand how you get all those spells at lvl 20. Shouldn't that be due to the magus talent at lvl 19 which you couldn't have since you're dd 4 lvls?
Are you gonna keep it a secret or was my question too dumb for a reply ? ;)
The dragon disciple actually levels whatever class you used to qualify for DD
Wow, nice. Thanks!
pronounced mae-gus.
like Gus, like Gust of wind?
@@ArcaneAgent like the names Mae and Gus. Just say the names one after the other.
