If you would like to imagine 100’s of years ago, the rainbow wasn’t called the rainbow. It also had protection then by man as well. Chief Osceola from the Seminole Tribe guarded it, and pirates even sailed all the way up it. Hernando De Soto brought his Spanish galleons up it also. Artifacts and cannon balls have been found to support all that. It was a very hostile area. But a well protected river. As it is today still and , I am thankful for it. Many aspects of the river didn’t exist long ago, and it did take a major change in geographical terms, in the 60’s when private land owners became more aggressive. With good reason, they had good intentions. The cove areas did not free flow like they do now, because they were not part of the river. After phosphate boom, developers sold off land and developers were allowed to knock down land barriers that allowed the river to flow into other spring fed areas such as the coves. Overall, it was done successfully. The river has always been as long as it is, but it’s width and growth has grown too with development. Back 100’s of years, the river was more narrow and more hidden. A gem that came at high cost to see? Many lost their lives trying to get to it. We’ve come a long ways I would say. The Blue Run……….is what it remains in my heart. Great job again.
Seminole Indians owned it. Only American Indian tribe that was never defeated yet US Government. They chose their reservation land & still their today very much undisturbed. They shoot ten arrows before one musket could be reloaded. Could move move through the swamps & rivers even at night amongst the gators , snakes & other wildlife. Beautiful landscape.

One of my favorite places .... great video. We stay at my cousin's place just above KP Hole. The range on that drone is amazing. Which one are you using?
At 8 something in the video it looks like there's two things under the water next to the boat. Do you think it's people swimming? Can you zoom in? It's the only thing underwater I seen in the whole video so far. This is the most spectacular river I've ever seen. I will get to this river one day.
If you tell me exactly where and what time your looking at, I'll look at the 4k video and let you know. I only see kayaks going down the river at the 8:00 minute mark.
Thank you for sharing my little slice of Heaven. Blessed to have access to Rainbow River. Beautiful video I truly enjoyed watching it.
Thanks for the video.
