- Colleges around the U.S. implored pro-Palestinian student protesters to clear out tent encampments with rising levels of urgency Monday. Police made more arrests at the University of Texas and Columbia University said it was beginning to suspend students who defied an ultimatum to leave the encampment there by an afternoon deadline.

This situation is hard to watch. Jewish students don’t deserve to feel uncomfortable and unsafe at the place of learning. I understand people have a right to protest but your rights end where someone else’s rights begin.
Then we have no rights, if we lose them when someone feels offended. Do the Jewish students also lose their rights when Palestinians feel uncomfortable or unsafe? Or does it depend on who you support?

@@franklin9400 Free protests in America have limits like, time, place and manner restrictions and you cannot block/disrupt the school, business, or entity that you are protesting. The protests are unlawful since they are on private property since it is not a public university and they did not obtain permission for the protest which they would have most likely receive along with the time, place and manner restrictions Columbia University would have placed to keep students safe and the school operating normally.

I like how Oct 7th and hostages mean nothing to you because it's trendy to protest now, and you'd rather take the side of islamic extremists. Watch some of the footage from the october 7th attack. I couldn't watch much of it because it made me sick and angry. Matter of fact, it should be played at all these protests so the ones that aren't being paid to be there can see what they are standing for.

@@drganknstein Gaza has been occupied since 1967. It's been an open air prison since then. I'm not even going to mention the Nakba in 1948. Gaza had every right to fight against the occupation on October 7, and over half of the Israelis killed on that day were killed by the IDF. The lies of Israel regarding the rapes and the babies being beheaded on October 7 are just more disgusting propaganda lies by Israel. What Israel has done to Gaza since then has not been proportionate. AIPAC needs to be registered as a foreign agent. JFK wanted to do just that, but then he was conveniently assassinated. Columbia is a rich kids' school and no way parents are going to allow suspensions with no due process without law suits. How do they know which kids were camped out for how long? Just handing out a suspension to anyone who just happens to be there at that particular time is just inviting more trouble for Columbia.

And as for the students being right - it's a matter of opinion. The children in the CU protests are breaking the law. People have a right to protest but they do not have a right to infringe on another person's rights.
